wXL23 Reviews

I’ve been using wXL23 off and on a for a few months (beta). It has a great selection of NWS maps. The main reason I don’t use it exclusively is it can’t show my PWS nor can I scroll the maps easily.

wXL23 is a great one stop shop of weather products! Just beginning to dig deeper into the many options, and so far only suggestions are to add cities and highways to the radar display and also NOT limit the size of the satellite images! Plenty of WiFi and unlimited data plans now and with high resolution displays, no need to worry about this anymore. Otherwise nicely done!

UPDATE: found the map options to add highways... wXL23 is now my daily weather briefing!

I don’t know who you are, what you do, or how you continue to update this free app but I do know it rocks. Thanks for this fantastic one stop shop for quick access to wx data and forecasts

This is one of the best weather apps to date. Has everything needed to keep track and dev is very responsive.

There is so much to look at, so much to absorb. The BEST APP for people who really like going into the raw materials and learning by digging in!

I have always been skeptical of the recent merging of weather companies. For some reason IBM is buying out everyone, and controlling the weather data which I find is to be very strange. Intellicast, The weather channel, and weather underground is in IBM’s control, and since this is happened them apps are horrible, and dangerous because the warnings are issued late, and they have taken away so much weather information from us! My hat is off with great respect to the developers of wXL23. I appreciate the amount of hard work you guys are putting in. Keeping me and everyone else informed so we can protect ourselves and our families. Thank you WX

I’ve used wXL23 everyday for over a year. For me it is perfect as it contains everything I need in one package. I recommend.

This Weather App has so many different elements to look at and great info. It has Radar, Satellite, Forecast Discussions from National Weather Service, Storm Prediction Center forecasts, and so much more.

Simple UI. Simple controls. It is what one needs when chasing or the need for info with hurricanes as every second counts. Props to the developer

in many weather apps you'll see a title similar to this one, but the fact is a lot of those people writing those reviews are just people with average weather knowledge, nothing wrong with that either, but wXL23 is the best you can get for free. this is coming from a guy with a background in storm spotting via skywarn, a guy who also has experience with COCORAHS and MPING. I am very hard to satisfy when it comes to my weather data, I have 16 apps right now for different data, wXL23 is slowly taking their places for my one stop shop for weather. I have several different text products, several views on the radars, several graphical products, all this data is very useful for my jobs and hobbies. having this experience and background with skywarn and COCORAHS and MPING, I feel safe in saying this is truly the best weather app I've come across.

wXL23 is amazing. I am an experienced storm chaser and spotter for local nws. I use several other apps to get what I need until I came across this one. Now I just have three apps I use. I am so glad I found this. Thank you so much for whoever came up with this.

This is an amazing collection of weather data that has no equal. Whether a novice weather enthusiast or a professional meteorologist, you will find all the weather information you could possibly hope for within wXL23. And in addition the developer puts in an incredible amount of time and effort supporting wXL23. Thank you Josh Green!!

Everything about wXL23 is perfect except the hourly forecast I wish it was a little easier to read and contained more information like some other apps who pull from data from NWS such as precipitation %, feels like, humidity, dew point just a few more basic data points.

wXL23 can be as simple as you need it, or as thorough as you want to get. I switched to this a couple of years ago after PYKL3 Radar stopped supporting their app. I’ve gotta say, this is just as good if not better. The developer has done an outstanding job of populating an array of info any weather enthusiast can use. Living in tornado alley, wXL23 can literally be a lifesaver.

I came to wXL23 from a down event in the RadarScope app one day. I am blown away by the sheer quantity of weather info available here! Sure it may lack the polish of RS but makes up for it in providing tons of data that is completely useful and yet absent from RS. If you're serious about tracking storms and want the data behind it, wXL23 is second to none! Well done!

One of my all time favorite apps. It’s 5-Star worthy. It sure if the new update made a new problem; app is struggling to load up on iOS 14 / iPhone 12Pro Max. I’m going to uninstall and reinstall.. hopefully it’s a simple glitch.

EDIT: Did a full re-install. App is running but radar product still glitching a bit on 9/2/21. STILL a 5-Star app… this is likely a NWS server side error, not wXL23 itself.

As far as I’m aware, this is the best weather app for mobile. It has model data, observed data, amazing GOES imagery, and even a way to search up weather-related tweets. But best of all is the customizable radar, with the ability to change the color schemes of reflectivity and velocity and customize your overlay colors. It has all the necessary features for tracking weather that you can possibly ask for, and I will defer using wXL23 a lot in the future

I’ve barely scratched the surface of wXL23, and I’m already blown away by just how much weather data is readily available, all open-source, and without cost, ads, or fluff. Sure, you can find a lot of it via official NOAA/NWS channels, but not all in one place, and not in a mobile-friendly format.

With bloated commercial weather apps and companies big and small trying to sell us the weather data we’ve already paid for with our tax dollars, while sneakily selling their users’ metrics to ad companies (and whoever else), this is a breath of fresh air.

Thanks to the dev for bringing this no-nonsense power-user weather app to iOS at last! Outstanding!

wX is full of resources that cater to spotters and chasers alike. Instead of having to go through the SPC website to get storm info, wX brings all of the major resources right to your phone or tablet. I highly recommend that spotters and chasers download and use wXL23 . You’ll soon find out how useful wX can be.

I’ve always had a passion for severe weather. To-date I’ve chased a dozen hurricanes, numerous severe storms and tornadoes, and a fair bit of the winter variety as well. When it comes to me getting the information I need when chasing these type of events wXL23 has it all. As the developer states, it’s not you run-of-the mill weather App with a nice GUI and a simple forecast and convective (the typical one you see on TV) radar imagery. It has these things; however, it also goes about 20 layers deeper, with multiple types and levels of radar, convective text (MCD’s, active watch discussions, etc) and graphical content, a plethora of models to review with selectable layers, hydrologic data, and much more. If you are a storm chaser like myself or are in the business of meteorology in practice, this is the best App there is - hands down. Thanks to those involved in its development, well done.
