Shovler: Snow Removal OnDemand Reviews

I recently moved to CT from FL so I am not used to snow or the work that goes along with it. This is my first time using Shovler. I needed to hire a crew to shovel my driveway, sidewalk and walkway. I feel the price was reasonable, and when I created the job, I was careful to include all areas that I needed shoveled. I chose to add my driveway (3 car), sidewalk and two separate walkways (one for the actual walkway from my garage and another to account for the steps and small front porch area). I felt this was fair. I also put comments in the special instructions section explaining exactly which areas I wanted shoveled. I added a pic too, but I agree with a previous reviewer that you should be able to upload more than one pic. The crew (2 guys) showed up in about 2 hours and completed the job quickly and efficiently. I am happy with the results. I was not sure if I would be able to leave a tip once the work was completed, so I added extra money to the job price up front. However, there is an opportunity to add a tip when you go in to approve the job and leave your rating. You only approve the job after you are notified that it was marked complete. Overall great experience.

I spent $75 - which is pricey- and a nice job was done on the sidewalk. However, there is no way in Shovler to tell them to do the steps as well. I tried putting in the comments that the steps needed done as well but apparently no one reads the comments so I am not sure of their purpose. The funny part is the shoveler asked about the steps before marking the job as complete and the company told the shoveler to only do the sidewalk. Kinda useless to spend $75 to clear a 50’ sidewalk and still have a slip and fall risk on your property. Also, I had a 10% one time coupon that I was trying to use. I posted the job once and a shoveler accidentally accepted the job. However, when I went to reactivate the job Shovler would not allow me. After that Shovler would not allow me to use the coupon again so I was out 10%.

After working with the company they did get the shoveler back out to my house to clear the steps, so I am raising my review some but this was still a frustrating and painful experience. As a tip for anyone the company said to pick a walkway if you need steps done. This should be more clear in Shovler that walkway = steps to this company.

We had a big storm in Boston yesterday and due to an injury I am unable to shovel so when I saw the advertisement for shoveling on a local FB post, I decided to check it out. I am giving 5 stars because the actual workers did a fantastic job and with being injured this helps so much and takes a big weight of my shoulders. However, I do believe Shovler is overpriced. I just had my car shoveled out, just the sides and a little in the back and not much in the front and it cost more than Shovler I used to hired to do my driveway, walkway and sidewalk. I do appreciate the convenience of Shovler but this might have been a one and done trial. Again, the actual shovelers were awesome and did a great job, they got down to the pavement which was a lot since the plow truck packed the snow in on the side, this plus the convenience and quickness of the job being assigned within minutes is what the 5 stars is for, just very overpriced.

I love the concept but I have a lot of issues. For example I have a large driveway and sidewalk and even though I list that by indicating I have a 7 car driveway and 300+ sidewalk, people still either show up with just a shovel or are surprised by the scope of work. If I could upload pics of all the work that can stay attached to my profile that would be very helpful. It would be nice to indicate this as a large scope job so the equipment should be comparable. As it is now, I can only add 1 photo when I submit a job. Also the messenger option works very poorly. Half the time my messages do not go through. I just had someone here today and they did not go far enough with my sidewalk. I’ve been trying to message him but my messages don’t go through. I’m required by the town to maintain my sidewalk and since me messages don’t go through I need to hire someone to finish the sidewalk that I’ve already paid for? It’s definitely not the man who shoveled for me fault. Otherwise he did a wonderful job. Shovler functionality needs a lot of work.

USERS AGREE TO PERFORM AND RECEIVE SERVICES AT THEIR OWN RISK. Shovler requires you to agree to a price and pay before the service is completed. I’ve had snow successfully removed 30% of the time. The other 70% of the time, the “service providers” could not locate the property or did not complete the job correctly. this app doesn’t screen “service providers” before allowing them to register on Shovler . The majority of the “service providers” are NOT independent snow removal contractors. “Service providers” are paid once the job is reviewed by the requester or 13 hours whichever is sooner. Anyone can show up with a shovel, push some snow around for 2 mins, take a photo and get paid even if you don’t approve the job. You can add rock salt to your order for $30 if you like getting ripped off. this app is a great concept that is, unfortunately, made unusable by randoms with a shovel looking for a quick buck. I’ve had 2 awesome, legit snow removal crews in the 7 times I’ve tried this app. I wish I had gotten their direct contact info. A 30% success rate with Shovler is not enough to continue using this app or recommending it.

After working the overnight shift i came home to find that the snow plows had packed snow at the end of my 6 car driveway. It was cold and slippery making it difficult to reach the front door of my home- Using Shovler The job was accepted for $60. I uploaded a photo of the driveway but could not get the mailbox or walkway to the front door in the photo. I did add a comment to shovel/clear the snow from around my mailbox- I didn't think to add that the walkway should be shoveled, so I returned home late to find that snow from the driveway to the front door still needed shoveling. After paying $60 one would think the snow leading to the front door would be part of the job. I don’t blame the shoveler- this was first time using Shovler and I didn’t realize just how specific I needed to be.

I really had high hopes with this service. However, after having requested a cleanup of my driveway and sidewalk, only the driveway was completed. I went back and forth with someone from support for over 2 hours, to end up getting absolutely nothing resolved. I paid $95 to have half of the job I requested done. The shoveler posted pictures after the job was “completed”, and they clearly did not show the sidewalk that should have also been part of the job. I really have a hard time understanding how these people thought offering a $10 credit would make up for this situation. I requested a credit that would be enough to cover the cleanup of the sidewalk, and received no further response.

I went out of my way sending you different pictures, which were never good enough for you. I hope you can use this an opportunity to better strengthen your customer service and operations in the future.

My plow guy never showed and I had tenants angry as we had a freeze up coming . I posted the job and a very professional , hardworking and well equipped person showed up with the hr of posting . He finished went above and beyond what I asked and sent great pictures of the Job . The pictures I saved and sent to the tenants who were also thrilled about the job . I’ve used this service in several cities ,as I do property management. We DO NOT do snow removal as part of our services cause it’s too much with the distances between all the cities we service . It’s hard enough to handle the inside of the properties with cold season . Shovler and services have been a great asset for us this year . Not everyone that showed up did a perfect job but over all the ones that did do a good job went above and beyond .

I saw Shovler mentioned on TV and signed myself up. I am over 65, a widow living alone on a fixed income. I thought if this works it’ll be a god-send. Snowed last night about 8” here in Chicago and we are expecting record bitter cold temps. This morning I asked for a shovel-out and Shovler responded that they’d be there by 6pm. I thought uh oh, not a great response time. But two guys showed up an hour later and they were done in 20 minutes. Pretty good job too. They could have made one more pass at the city sidewalk- it’s a little narrow, but It’ll do just fine. If I’d thought for a NY minute that they would shovel the walk to the garage I would’ve left the gate unlocked (I keep it locked to prevent my 2 German Shepards getting out of the yard), but no harm no foul. It was a little pricey but they were here and gone and did a pretty good job, and best of all, I didn’t have to do it myself!! See you next time it snows!

Here in NW Chicago suburb of Schaumburg. Needed help with snow removal. I’m 60 yrs old & unable to shovel myself. I just happened to check online apps & decided to give this one a try. I was skeptical at first but took the leap of faith & soo glad I did! Shovler asked for address & it showed there was a shoveler in my area so I requested through the online app. The process flowed smoothly! I monitored the process..they updated as they accepted the job, when they arrived and when they were done with before & after pictures! Response was in 2 hrs as promised. The shoveler did an Excellent job removing the snow from my single car driveway. I highly recommend using Shovler. The job requests on demand like Uber & pay with credit card & a bit pricey. 1 car driveway same price as a 2 car. I will definitely use again because response time was quick! What a relief!!! Rushing out the door in the morning after a large evening snowfall to drop kids off at school and daycare before heading to work. No time to shovel - eek! And I knew if I waited until that evening to shovel, the snow would be trampled and super tough to shovel. Not to mention, didn’t want to be “that house” - you know, the rude neighbor that didn’t shovel their walk! I thought “I wish there was an app I could easily hire someone...” I was shocked and THRILLED to find after a quick google search there was! Pricing fair (you pay for convenience!) and within a couple hours I was alerted that my job was accepted. Communicated through chat with the shoveler as needed (nice option) and received photos of the job well done (much better than me!). I easily and quickly chose “approved” and added a tip (thank you for that option). I will definitely use this service again!

I love Shovler! I’m not going to lie, first couple of reviews I saw worried me. I grew up in jersey and then moved away to California for many years. I recently moved back. I totally forgot all about dealing with snow. First storm I saw how impossible it was to find a person to plow/shovel. It’s like a secret society. A neighbor from next door Shovler suggested I try this app. 15 minutes after I posted my job it was accepted. 30 minutes later it was done! They even posted b4 and after pics. Freaking awesome! Price for service was great. I just used this app ten minutes ago... they did my driveway, walkway and sidewalk for the same price some guy (plow person referred by a friend) charged me to plow the driveway only. I have a fairly big driveway and a super long sidewalk. I’m a single mom and an app like this is a life saver for me. Now I pray it snows so I can use this app. Use Shovler you will love it too :)

This is by far the worst snow removal app I have ever used. I paid about $100 to have an 8 car parking lot snow removal done and the job was to simply remove snow from the parking lot. The shoveler did not finish the job of removing the snow and left many patches of snow on the parking lot and blocked in my garbage bin and blocked in my cars with snow. As a business owner I understand that my parking lot is about 8 cars in width but I still expected the job to be done right. I would of paid extra to have the job done right. Shovler definitely needs a lot of improvement and is aimed only for homeowners with smaller driveways. Do not use their services if you have a bigger driveway or if you have a parking lot. When I tried to contact support about my concerns they took over 5 hours to respond. So if you ever have any concerns about the job they will take a long time to reply. I am very disappointed with this service so if you want the job done right and with decent customer support consider using other apps or services.

A shoveler just finished my job and was great. This job however took 6 people accepting the job then canceling it. The first crew came with light snow shovels and no truck trying to shovel a 125x10 driveway covered in 3 ft of snow. They quit after completing 40% of the job then told Shovler that the job was finished using opportunistically angled pictures. The only option Shovler gave me was to accept the job or kick the crew completely off Shovler . I am not trying to keep people from making money to feed their families during a global pandemic, but I also am not trying to pay for twice for a job to be done. There needs to be options to not pay for incomplete work. There needs to be a way to ask that random people with useless equipment stay away from heavy work. The job ended up being done well, but it took over a week and 6 attempts for Shovler to get a person with the right equipment to finish my job.

Placed the order last week in plenty of time for them to get it assigned the following day, but no one every showed up, no call to explain, nothing, just zero communication. And i was very thorough (when placing my order) in terms of what I needed, times, etc. Needless to say, my neighbor ended up doing the driveway and we did the rest ourselves. When I notified the company, they were very apologetic though and said they would not no be contracting with that particular shoveler again. They said I wouldnt be charged, but I havent double-checked this with my account yet. I suppose this service is a good concept, but it isnt working, as this is the second time I was stood up (first time was a different service), and when people are relying on it to get out of their homes, or cant do it themselves, and then no one shows, well, that’s just incompetence, and shows me a company that is in over their head(s) and one which hasnt ironed out all the ‘fine details’ that a business needs to in order to succeed!

I have used this service twice. Both times someone came and shoveled in an appropriate amount of time. The first time the shoveler only shoveled a path down my sidewalk, so I was more specific in my request the next time. One thing I found was the first job was way more snow and I over estimated the size of my property to be safe. I was charged $65. The second job, I actually measured to be accurate and requested a similar scope with reduced footage and much less snow. I was charged $10 more. That didn’t seem to make sense to me, but both shovelers were helpful and friendly. I will be using this service again and hopefully get a better understanding of how they price their jobs.

I was so excited to become a this app, especially since I have many days off during the week. We had a huge snowstorm and I was excited to get out there and get some work. Every single time I get a notification that there is a job available I immediately click on the notification which directly opens Shovler . As soon as they open Shovler it says no jobs available!!! I’ve completely lost out on 20 jobs already in the span of a few hours. I have a brand new phone with the latest operating system because my old phone had an operating system that wasn’t up to par and compatible with Shovler. So I’m just curious as to what kind of phone or operating system Shovler will actually work with. I really wish that all of the bugs were fixed for Shovler because I highly doubt we will have too many more snowstorms as it is already March.

Today I downloaded this application since we just had a Nor’easter and 9” of snow. The was easier to use asking size of driveway by how many cars can park, cleanup driveway, front door and open deck. I was unable to open the front door due to heavy snow. Ordered by taking a photo from my front door added photo to request at 10:30 am posted request and by 11:08 request picked up by shovelers and said they will be at my house by 11:30am. They did and cleanup all snow front door area path and driveway within 45 minutes. They took photos of cleanup areas submitted to me and the service thus there payment was released and paid. I would use Shovler again. Highly recommended. Paul B. Long Island

I was watching FOX NEWS and they mentioned it Shovler so I decided to give it a try that same night hoping they were available on Staten Island! It was after 10pm the snow had not been shoveled yet and I have a bad shoulder so I was worried how was I going to clean it. I downloaded Shovler put my information in and in less than 2 minutes someone accepted my job came over in 20 minutes. I was in shower when I came out it was all done pictures in my email. Great job! I left a tip and that is my only concern I am hoping the tip goes to the shoveler as the developers get 20% from the cost of the job and I could respect that it takes time and funding to develop and maintain great app! All around it gets 5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

this app was set to arrive around 11:20. At 11:20, car pulls up in front of my house, I see in app that it says he arrived, then he leaves - without doing anything! He comes back 1/2 hr later, makes quick work of driveway and walkway, and is getting ready to leave - without doing the sidewalk! I caught him as he was leaving and said “you didn’t do the sidewalk” He says”you want me to do it?” Well of course because I already paid for it! He did do it and left. Also, the chat function in Shovler is useless as the guy never responded to my texts. All I can say is if you use this service - you better be home to watch them.

I live in a gated community, and therefor had the be awake to buzz the shoveler in the gate. Shovler said the estimated arrival time was 12:20am, and I waited up until 1am hoping to buzz the shoveler in. It doesn’t bother me so much that the shoveler was running late, what bothered me was that there was no way to see what the shovelers actual updated ETA or location was, and there was no way to contact the shoveler to verify that he was still even coming.

I tried to “Contact the shoveler” from Shovler , and the messages wouldn’t send. I wanted to contact the driver to try to get an updated ETA, or at least a confirmation that they were still even coming, and the messages wouldn’t send. Shovler is poorly built and there seems to be a glitch with the messaging on Shovler .

This was my first time trying Shovler, and I will never use it again after this.

I used Shovler to request a this app. They arrived 2 hours after the request was made and got out of their vehicle and lit cigarettes while taking their materials out, one being a snowblower. After they completed the job poorly, because the driveway was narrowly done and I still have to shovel my way out, they went on to review and said shoveling for my home was ridiculous for the price we paid. I answered the questions on Shovler and that was the price I was quoted based on the choices provided by Shovler . Shovler does not allow you to respond to such, but the understanding is that this is an “Uber” like service for shoveling service. If they were disappointed with shoveling, then perhaps they should have declined the job when they saw the snow and left it for someone else to take. I suggest you better vet the people you allow to work for this service.

I used the Shoveler App. for the first time on January 20, and it worked perfectly! I was actually in the hospital being discharged around 6:00 pm and knew I wouldn’t be able to get into my driveway after the snow storm the night before. Requested service at noon, job was done by 3:00 pm..driveway looked great,
Tried to use Shovler . the next day. Request wouldn’t go through. Kept asking for the size of my property. I put my driveway and walkway size numerous times. Wouldn’t put the job request in. Don’t know what to do.

This is so convenient. I had just gotten surgery. And it snowed! So I was like okay how am I gonna shovel! I need help. So I searched up Shovler. And read reviews. And I gave it a try! Everything turned out perfect. I requested a shoveler at 5am and he arrived at 6:30am. You do have to give them time to travel. Keep that in mind. But I was in no rush. I just needed my car out of the snow. He spent about an hour but that’s normal. Definitely worth my $50. I was able to drive out with no problem. If it snows again I will have to run back to Shovler. This was so helpful! Thank you to whoever made Shovler!!!!!

My car was completely plowed in, and the snow had turned to ice-- a complete nightmare to try to dig out. I can't express my delight at being able to simply input my information about my car, go about my daily business and work and errands, and get an email a couple hours later with a photo of my beautifully dug out car. Well worth it! There was some confusion with Shovler where the shoveler accidentally cancelled the job, but customer service responded immediately and cleared things up very effectively. Makes life so much easier!!

Shovler is wounderfull download it and put up what you need done and it gets done the pay yes takes a little long for it to come threw your bank account ... if your not doing. Any jobs frequently then you won’t get paid as fast the more jobs the faster they send the money based off volume
Shovler is no means a scam the other person who tag just might not like how long it took for him to get payed I did two properties and got payed 300$ total and it was a week before I got it. But if you do more jobs two five regular days it will get to you

I really like the convenience of Shovler , especially when I am out of town and someone might not be able to get in/out of the house. My mom asked one of the shovelers what he charged out of curiosity because I had arranged it and hadn’t told her. Evidently he gets $20 less than what I am paying ($50) which seems like a HUGE cut from his labor. I would be more happy to give him $40-50 than pay such a huge percentage to the middle man. Especially when the next snow showed the estimate at $85! 😮
