4.5 out of 5
The characters are weird, but the story is just…idk.

I played the game numerous of times, it’s really good. Don’t get me wrong, but the characters are just having some sort of evil inner person or manipulative, etc. like Madison just develops into a cold-blooded killer, and Gina just shoots her own friend George because of her husband and decided to join a group for possibly a evil plan. And Rachel does not seem to have any character development after part 2, like she still seems she’s hiding more of herself sort of, and Jillian is just a terrible survivor. I think the game that will continue in part 4 will be the group’s down fall, and the main character only survives. Like the walking dead season 2, and on part 1. Where everybody is out for each other’s throats for no reason, and acting on stupidity. To be honest, I’m not sure if the game is just all about teamwork. Or just to show something else, before I thought it was really good. But now…it’s off because of how everyone acted on part 2 and 3.

Best Zombie CYOA Title.

Love it. Only complaint is that the game definitely needs some manual saves or checkpoints/quicksaves along with being able to delete some previous saves as well. When you click the arrow to go back to the main menu, sometimes it doesn’t let you continue your progression if you don’t have a Chapter Save. For example in part one and in chapter three, you go back to the main menu accidentally pressing the back button or closing ZombieExodus , the game doesn’t save your progress when you press “Play.” Really frustrating having to replay all the progress you’ve done. But other then the tweaks that could be made, the characters all have their own personalities and quirks. The inventory system is a very wide assortment and well-recorded and the plots involved are super easy to get into. Legions above the first Zombie Exodus as everything improved and the romance options are also well made. Well done Jim Datillo and Choice Of Games. Just needs bug fixes and fleshing out.

Wonderful, Immersive, Buggy.

Holy Jesus, this game is just something else in the best way possible. It feels like a hyper-stylized DnD campaign with lots of choices and outcomes to any situation. However, there are a fair bit of bugs. Lets start with the positives

Positives:
The story is super immersive and well-written, the characters are really solid, (Even the most dull characters have some personality,) there are multiple groups you can ally with or go to war with, and the way things play out are mostly up to you…with a few notable exceptions. Speaking of which…

Negatives:
The scripted deaths harm replayability. No spoilers, but some characters you can’t save no matter what and it’s really annoying. There are a fair share of bugs, but they’re all in the text. I.E, a dead character dancing with a living character.

Suggestion:
CRAFTABLE. ARMOR. Stuff like sheet metal vests and stuff like that would help immersion.

All in all, this game is great and worth the 16 or so dollars for all three parts. Cant wait for part 4!

Thank you (PLEASE MAKE A P3)

I got so addicted to this book and it took me two days to read it. I read it over and over again because I died twice but is really good. I wish you guys had a description for Jamie but other than that it’s pretty good and I can’t find the save button so that’s kind of a problem but other than that this is a really good book and I really really really hope you guys get to making the part three to this please don’t forget about ZombieExodus because I will willingly spend all of my money for it. The storyline is amazing and the fact that you could get so many changes within your story is just so fine and it makes it so interesting. Thank you so much for making this story because if it wasn’t for this story I wouldn’t be into reading.

Best story game I’ve ever come across!!

I can’t believe how real this story is, I really feel like I’m part of the story. I’ve been reading for 3 hours and that in itself is a miracle! I’m high anxiety, ADD, and my attention span is like zero. So for me to sit still for 3 hours is a miracle. My husband just came in to check on me because I haven’t quite this long since he married me 36 years ago, lol. I absolutely recommend this story game, you feel like you’re the one going through the zombie apocalypse.

It’s great I also have some suggestions

It’s really great but there are some things that can help it grow as a game like adding more criminal paths at the beginning like being a prisoner or a teen in juvie and escapes when the virus started and it would be pretty cool if you had more customization options like age or how tall and the personality so it adds a little more background then you could grow as a person or stay the same and the choice to leave the group and try to make it on your own

Great game but where's part 2?

I enjoyed this one as much as the first (maybe even more) but part 2 should have been released by now. It said "..will be released in the 3rd quarter of 2017.." and 2017 is already about to end in a little over 2 weeks. If you're not finished writing the 2nd part then that's fine, don't rush and take your time to finish it until you feel it's ready for release but a little update like "Hey guys the release is going to be pushed back since I haven't finished writing it" would've been better than complete silence.

My favorite

I love trying to save everyone in this game, like a text-based Suikoden. It’s kind of complicated in terms of stats and choices compared to other text games, and that’s what I love about it. The only thing I don’t like is that it takes forever before the writer finishes a chapter—I think this is just a hobby for him. I was so excited when the last chapter came out, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s been so long since the last chapter that I’m afraid I’ll have forgotten the story before it has an ending.

Top CoG or Hosted as to offer.

JD is the writer all others should aspire to emulate. He has listened for several years now to what his readers want and I couldn't possibly imagine the brainstorming he goes through to write some many overlapping stories. I've been the choice of books since "choice of dragon" back in 2010 and while zombie exodus has some fierce competition with the Heroes Rise Saga and several others. It's safe to say this remains the top series. The first was without a doubt 5 stars and this one has such ambitions that if I could rate it higher I would.
-Love the writing. Never give up.

Can't Wait

Now I'll be very honest right from the beginning and say that I rarely ever write reviews. The chances of me writing a review for anything or anybody are maybe once a year and even then it's too much.

I'm a writer and to me this game has such a great story that it felt as if I myself was being drawn in and becoming the character itself. I have played many like it and rarely has this ever happened. Not only does the story allow me to feel as if I'm living the situation in the moment it gives me a great sense of who my character CAN become and it greatly defines everyone and everything very well.

In addition to that, I'd also like to applaud the complexity of it all. There are so many things a person can do, backstories of who you were and paths that you can take. One of my favorite things to do is to do the whole thing over and over just to see where each path I take leads me. It's amazing!

Can't wait for Part 2! Keep it up!

Two years

It’s been two years since I last re download this game and I’ve bought the full everything. I wish we had more time to build up the camp, I had so many plans but not enough time to slowly prepare for them. I have a nephew which I consider my son so I was hoping to make a little shelter for children to learn like how normal people would go to school. There is so much potential and if it cost that much then I’m willing to go over 20 bucks easy for the extended effort, maybe more who knows, it’s just that interesting

Very compelling text adventure

Great text-based game! I love the storytelling and it feels like your choices matter, while there also seems to be some randomization to keep you on your toes. The system for upgrading your character is not overly complicated, which I appreciate.

One note for developers: there were a few times when the game just lost my progress and I had to restart. I learned that creating save points is key. However the save points are so spread out it took a lot of time to retrace my steps. More save points please!

Dissapointed

A great game I was playing for hours so intriguing! I purchased chapter 1 expecting to be able to play through the rest of the game. After completing part one I had to purchase chapter two?! I spent five dollars on this game which for a mobile game is a lot. I’m not sure how many chapters there are in total but if I have to pay for each chapter separately I doubt anyone will make to the end of this brilliant game. Please adjust your costs whether it be a monthly fee or membership. It is a ridiculous thing to have to pay for each chapter separately.

Absolutely amazing

I’ve had Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven for years now. I’ve played since before the second part came out and only just now got back into it a year after the third part was released. I love just how detailed everything is, from the character description to the choices themselves and the effect is has on your gameplay. It’s all so well put together. There are typos here and there, but it’s nothing crazy. I really do hope this game keeps getting attention and updates because it’s something I always come back to. I’m excited to see what part 4 will have in store!!

Reading? Sounds boring but WAIT!

I hate to read but the writer and the story are amazing. I can’t wait until more of the story comes out. I’ve only done one play through but it’s lasted a few hours and THERES so many other options and ways for the story to evolve. He gives you a lot of options (sometimes 10 or more) giving you the ability to craft and make the story go your way. Well sometimes things don’t work out but that’s what makes this an amazing piece of work. I’m a Marine and I took the city solider route. The writer got allot of it right and made it feel pretty authentic compared to other military games. I recommend this to everyone I know. Simply amazing.

One of the Best

I’ve played this game so many times already, and I unlock something new each time. Undoubtedly one of the best games there is, suitable for all levels of role play game experience. You have the option to buy extra skill points if you are focused more on having it easy and focusing story, or have a well balanced chara without out it. You have the option to do advanced character creation (the best from a text adventure I’ve ever seen) or select one of their templates. Background of your character definitely effects the overall story.

All and all, I really suggest checking this series out. Two books for it are available — worth every penny— and I anticipate the third!

OH MY GOODNESS

Lemme tell y’all something this game is so flipping good it will make time fly by and the next thing you know it’s 4:33 am on a Wednesday morning. I’ve been replaying this game over and over again because it’s JUST THAT GOOD. If you like choice text based games this is ur app. Everything from the skills to the (I think) struggle mechanics where you can have impairments to make the game even more challenging is EXCELLENT. The writing? On point. The characters background and depth? On point. I don’t usually write reviews but for this game I HAD to! I even bought all the upgrades just to fed into my god complex of successfully killing anything that got in my way. Everything about it is chefs kiss~ 😽🙈

This game is what all text based choice games should aspire to be

The game provides endless amounts of unique choices at the beginning that change the game dramatically as you play. The fact that you can have so many options for just your pet that can change certain parts of the game speaks volumes on the writers ability to weave together a cohesive and immersive experience. If it’s your first run through I suggest picking the disability of delusional because it really sets you on edge, even though i played the game multiple times before trying it my hear stood on edge at the zombie winking at me. I’m currently trying to get a build that can find a cure and after that will try the game with every disability. Can’t wait for the next chapter :)

Great game, some advise for part 2

I loved the game and played it 3 separate times, each one getting better than the last, unfortunately I didn't save everyone but I plan on playing the game for a fourth time in order to. (It has a great replay value). I do ask that in the next game the creators decide to add more options to strengthen relationships. Such as the ability to give your "friends" candy or something, in order to strengthen your relationship. I also think it should be a characteristic that (small spoiler alert) the vehicles we chose at the end can affect the next game, like using the bus to make a base, or the ability to mount the 50 cal at a base we make to help defend ourselves. Thanks for your consideration, and I hope you choose to go with some of my ideas.

JimD you did us good

I have over 130 saves on Zombie Exodus Safe Haven and around 70 saves on Zombie Exodus and I will say first and foremost that Jim Datillo, the guy who's writing this knows his stuff. I've bought both books and played them extensively and have never been displeased with his writing and story. Jim's story's are definitely worth buying, even if it seems expensive you will get your money's worth. I mean I've played Zombie Exodus Safe Haven over 130 times and I'm still replaying it to find all the cool characters I can make. Don't miss out.
