Don’t waste your time!!!

Was super jazzed to download MountainHubAdventureSharing so I could use the terrain visualization features while planning tours. None of the features work and I’ve emailed the support department 3 separate times with no response. Don’t waste tour time!!

Going down hill

2022-07-22

I first heard about mountainHub, then Avatech, in 2015 from my avalanche one instructor. At the time the pc version was a fantastic resources for mapping out hikes and ski tours and get great overview of the kind of elevation gain, distance and time it would take. On top of that depending on the area you could also get an idea of the snowpack stability via others posted observations. The introduction of the mobile app promised even greater accessibility to these resources as well as a fast more accurate means of posting data to the community.

Sadly there was a decision to try and change from there roots to a social media platform in which people would post about their adventures. The pc version became far less useful and the mapping/planning capabilities of the mobile app decreased. On top of this it was pretty clear relatively few people were using it which further decreased its usability in researching snowpack stabilities.

At this point MountainHubAdventureSharing is losing usefulness in a seemingly irreversible way due to continued loss of key features and a lack of other users.

Lost its usefulness

2022-08-23

I wish they had kept their focus on backcountry skiing where there is a real need for crowdsourced observations rather than trying to be another outdoor strava wannabe app.

There is another app called Backcountry Beta that seems to be doing a better job of serving backcountry skiers.

Cool concept, don’t quite have the execution

2022-09-24

Free gps features with offline maps is nice. Unfortunately it’s not all that easy to use for navigation when I’ve played around with it for backcountry ski touring. It also really eats battery. I’ve found Avenza to be superior for navigation. The crowdsourcing of conditions could be cool but they don’t seem to have a critical mass of users in my zones

Wish the terrain download worked

2022-10-25

I tried it a year ago and again this winter. The topo maps are really nice and the logging shows useful information. But, the offline download of background maps and terrain features still doesn’t seem to work consistently. This is the main reason I’d like to use MountainHubAdventureSharing . Better integration with strava would be nice. Currently “share with strava “ only sends a post to your feed with a link to your Mtn hub activity which is essentially missing the point of strava. There should at least be a way to easily export the gpx so I can upload to strava.

MH is a good platform to download the Avalanche info with some options. In my opinion it missing a place to put the snow profile data. For the rest of the options there is a very good app!!

Essential

Great for mapping, route planning and sharing conditions from your outdoor recreational trips. Used by a growing number of outdoor professionals and recreationalists. Thanks Mtnhub!

Great App

2023-01-28

By far the best map options of all the outdoor tracking apps. Great social networking, with fun positive, people. Great conditions reporting features. The only thing I wish it had was a calorie calculator and I wish it connected to Apple health.

Good app!

Best App of Its Type

2023-07-03

I’ve tried almost every variation of tracking apps and this one is already by far my favorite. Has all the features I love most - very accurate GPS tracking and data, FREE & NO ADS 🙌🏼, plus the photo geotagging feature is very cool. A must-have for any outdoors adventurer

So much great stuff in here!

2023-11-06

Such a great app! Accurate data tracker for your daily activities not to mention very strong observations tools to help share local knowledge with others. Stoked to use the mapping tool this winter to help route my tours and share data with friends and family.

Great app!

Love the new 3D flyover. Already loved the crowdsourced conditions. Now even better.

Fun and useful

2024-01-08

MountainHubAdventureSharing really hits the nail on the head for me. I love to track my adventures but I don’t really need to compare my speed to other people. Instead mountain hub is a great way to help other adventure seekers by sharing real time relevant conditions and routes.

It’s really cool that I can open MountainHubAdventureSharing and see recent activities nearby, as well as a variety of cool adventures from around the world.

Awesome app, offline maps are fantastic

2024-02-09

I mostly use this to download offline maps of an area. Having the different layers is great when having to bushwhack to a climbing route.
