Ten years post LS and APA still can’t deliver a functioning App. Does APA use the same I.T. guys as AAL?
Memo to APA technology department, and I use that nomenclature loosely, look at all the features Light Saber provides - that’s the bare minimum!
PROS:
Alerts ‼️, Schedule display, iMax calculator
CONS:
Everything missing that exists with LS. The pay calculator “Sentinel” is worthless. DFPs in “Trip Info” do not update after a pilot changes them.
Suggestions:
An AA pilot rarely knows exactly what their pay for the month will be at any given moment. Alaska, SWA, DAL, JetBlue, and UAL all know instantly how their pay is affected by schedule changes. Why doesn’t Sentinel provide this information?
As you know, if Crew Schedule does not code the HI-1 events correctly, the pilot will not be paid correctly. APA should provide us with an accurate snap-shot of our pay for any given moment. When PM flying is added, that pay should be reflected instantly in the PPROJ - - it is not, but it should be. There are numerous other examples where pay hours are wrong or not updated until the 6th of the following month. This is absurd! How many employees in the world pay a private company $10 / month to “Check their Pay”?
Again, look at every feature Light Saber offers and give us at very least the same. There are so many things that can be done to improve the life of the APA member simply harnessing the technology commonly available today. I have never understood why APA is so deficient at organizing information and packaging that information in the form of a well functioning, pilot friendly App.
