Great system for the money

I heard about this system on a podcast so I checked it out. Looked like it would work and was substantially less expensive than the high end trainers. Got it today and spent a few hours with it. Although it’s not perfect, I doubt it can be beat for the cost which is why I’m giving it 5 stars. In my living room, there are 6 can lights and the target reflects those pretty easily so I had a few tries to get the settings right to stop the fake hits, however, I was able to adjust it out and spent an hour or so working with it. My groups weren’t bad to start but in that short time, I was able to really separate trigger movement from barrel movement and improve. I moved it to a few rooms with other types of lights and had no fake hit problems, so I’m fairly certain the bright spot directly under one of the can lights was the reason for my initial adjustment needs and would likely be a worst case scenario. The adjustments for my iPhone 6 in the cradle were also not perfect but did work with a little fine tuning. Also, with a little tinkering to get the wires to get to the phone, I think I can hook my phone via HDMI and put the screen up on the TV so that I can see the display from far away. This will make a great training tool for the off season and I like it so much I just bought one for my father for Christmas.

Works really well

So I just got the set up yesterday and messed around with it for an hour. I started in the living room with relatively low light since my wife was watching tv. No real issues with false readings. Main issue with accuracy was due to movement on my part when depressing the trigger. It actually was nice to visually see how much movement I had when firing. After a few shots I was seeing less and less movement of the laser and more accurate readings. After a few minutes my wife wanted to try it out but she wanted more light on so she could see the target rings more clearly. I turned on the overhead fan light and started getting false readings from the reflection on the target. After maybe 2 min tops of adjustments, it was working perfectly again. Only issue then was after I pushed the start button my shadow went over the target and I got a false reading. I just needed to watch where my shadow was as I backed away. Having a 5 sec starter delay for you to get into position would solve that issue. Overall I give it 5 stars. It was fun, informative, and easy to troubleshoot when the lighting changed and false readings showed up. An app like this will require some fine tuning on the user end before it works perfectly so I would recommend this system to everyone. Thanks.

Works Great just need to properly set up.

I was actually having the same issues when I first got it a lot post on here.. shots not registering, issues with lighting conditions, ghost shots registering. This is the response I received and if you follow these steps you will have no issues. Main thing being to zoom in on target so the only thing in the picture is the target!

From Developer -

1) Make sure the phone camera is not seeing off of the target plate and is only seeing the target image. Anything in the background could be interfering with the shot detection.

2) Make sure the light on the target plate is an even light. No bright areas and shadows on the target plate at the same time. Make sure the room has normal lighting and is not too dark. Don't use it directly under overhead lights.

3) Make sure there is no reddish light illuminating the target. iTargetPro responds to the color red.

4) Press the wrench image to go to settings. This is the main screen for adjusting the sensitivity. If you see any white showing up here, that area is being detected as a hit and your laser won't be. Raise or lower the sensitivity to eliminate any white. Ideally, you want to raise the sensitivity as much as possible without introducing the white noise. Take the laser in your hand and shine it at the target plate.
The laser should show up as a white hit and everything else should be black.

After I adjusted these things, zero issues.

Nice system

I have used my system several times now. The laser cartridge works perfectly, the sled/base only needing a phone holder with more adjustment to be perfect as well. My 8+ fits without its case but not with, I actually have a phone (selfie) holder I’m using instead of the base.
As for iTargetPro , it took a few minutes to get the settings where I needed, as well as the indoor lighting. Definitely don’t have it under direct light or it will start scoring based on that. So take a few mins to get it set correctly and it should be fine.
But once i had the settings and surroundings set, the rest went as expected. With the high cost and low availability of ammo (and limited range access at times) this system will pay for itself soon enough. And it can be fun to get back to practicing, including being able to work on more than ranges often allow.
So for now i’d give it 4 stars (close to 5), for me it was definitely worth getting.

Love it!

I’ve had the iTarget Pro system for a couple weeks now and I’m loving it so far. As far as I know, this is the best training system of its kind. I’m already able to see an improvement in my trigger control, accuracy and confidence in my EDC. Setting the proper light sensitivity is crucial for accurate scoring but even slight lighting changes caused by moving shadows and other factors can cause false hits. Adjusting sensitivity, however, is very easy and is a non-issue. I opted to upgrade to the paid version for the Quick Draw feature. I love this! I enjoy challenging myself to get faster and more accurate. After each shot set, iTargetPro displays your cumulative score, but one feature that’s missing is an average time for each shot. Please consider adding this feature on the next update. Looking forward to seeing the High Score feature implemented as well.

A fantastic dry fire training tool!

Before this app my live fire groupings were 2-3 inches (essentially tactical accuracy) at 24 feet. Two months of dry fire training with this app and now my live fire groupings are one inch or less at 24 feet. I've gained experience on trigger control, proper grip of my firearm, acquiring a sight picture, understand flash sight picture, firing from close range, acquiring sight picture with both eyes opened, and so much more. A total of 4,383 rounds of laser fire over a two month dry fire training period saved me $1739 dollars of live fire .45ACP ammunition cost.

Bottom line, could I have done the same with live fire training? Yes, but it would have cost me $1739 dollars to gain the same experience. Highly recommended product for anyone wanting to improve his or her firearm training.

Bill from Spartanburg

Ordered this product and it arrived in mere days. Set up was super easy and worked flawlessly with iPhone 8. Spent the extra $4.99 for the QuickDraw shot timer. It works great too. Notice the number of positive reviews vs. negative. I’m not denying some folks may have been disappointed but the greater number of responses are positive and rightly so. Terrific product especially for the price point. Have used on my Sig Sauer 225A1 as well as my Sig P365. Might even give it a go with a Ruger PC9 Carbine outdoors just to see what happens. I’ll post result later. Hope I do as well when next at the range as I did using iTarget Dryfire System👍

Pretty good target practice.

Overall this is worth it. I would recommend to the developer. To change a few minor things. On the Quickdraw game add a countdown at the start. If I am shoot from a distance of more than 2ft I need to be able to get ready at my desired distance. Also on the score that pops up after you shoot, change the color or add a border, plain red can sometimes be hard to see against a white target. When snapping the photo of the target i can’t get the photo to turn out very well. It’s either too dark or too light and sometimes it has a green effect on it. I have tried to adjust the light conditions in the room but no dice.

Excellent way to practice

Iphone 7. Had some issues getting used to how it is set up, but once I figured it out it works great. Seeing some negative comments/reviews here I could say the only one which I would sympathize with is making the holes less "ragged", and smaller, perhaps, but that would not be enough to downgrade to 4 stars. Friend has a Laserlyte system he paid almost 3x as much for, and it doesn't give you a record of how you performed. If you are considering a laser system, get this one -- the whole system costs less than the Laserlyte Bullet. Sometimes you pay less and get more.

Excellent system!

This system allowed me to become a better shooter for sure. It doesn’t simulate live fire and the way you react to recoil but it helps in other ways that are essential to better shooting in my opinion.

1. Improved my hand eye coordination
2. Improved my aiming
3. Improved my shot grouping
4. Taught me good trigger pull and hand control because I would always see how much the laser jolted every time I pulled the trigger
5. Taught me fast target acquisition using the “quick draw” mode.
6. Saved me bullets at the range practicing techniques I didn’t need to use live ammunition for.

Anyway just want to show my support for iTargetPro/system and I’d like to see the developer continue to make improvements to iTargetPro .

Couple of constructive suggestions I’d like to see implemented in future updates:

1. In quick draw, highlight the bullet hole that corresponds to shot # taken.
2. Be able to change the shape and/or size of the bullet mark when a shot is registered.

Don’t waste the $$$

Set up doesn’t seem to get easier with this. Have to constantly fiddle with the adjustments and it still never sets up right on my iPhone X. The target is always a little skewed as I have to angle my phone to get close to a proper picture of the target. And I’ve watched the video and spent time trying to adjust everything.
I’ve used in varying degrees of light with different settings and it constantly just starts showing rounds impacting on the target without me “shooting!” The sound works intermittently and I’ve deleted and reloaded iTargetPro to see if that would work to no avail. Not sure why that is.
At $80 for the whole setup I’d expect a little better.
When it gets close to working properly it’s fun for dryfire training.

Great system

It’s not perfect, I’ve had some false hits and some times when a hit looked different than how it was registered in iTargetPro . My iPhone 6+ in an Otter Box style case is as big as will fit in the cradle but it does fit and work.
The price is great compared to other training systems, you’re learning on your own firearm, no reloading mags, no cost of ammo (I’ve already dry fired well over the cost of the iTarget system.), and no cleaning after a session with the iTarget. I had an issue that needed support and got a great response! Thanks to iTarget my groups have gotten much better.

iTarget Pro

Got to play with my iTarget Pro today. Very impressed! I used it inside and it worked perfectly with default settings. At the price, it’s just a little more than one trip to the range, and no cleanup afterwards! I like that you can practice from different positions and real world environments that you can’t do at the range. Great for practicing accuracy and trigger control. It will also be useful for introducing the basics of handling a firearm (aiming/using sights, trigger control, etc.) to new shooters prior to taking them to a range for live fire. Additional lasers are a bit pricey though.

Decent, but not worth the $4.99 upgrade

I paid for the “quick draw” feature and after fighting with the apps inability to figure out portrait vs landscape, I found after first shots that iTargetPro only picks up 50% of the time at best. I’ve adjusted distance, lighting and sensitivity to no avail. As soon as I think I have it dialed in, it misses the first shot, and sometimes the first 5 shots! Really would like to have my $5 bucks back, but maybe they will use it to improve.

This is a 2-star app but I have it 3 because the free version is good for being free. Do not pay for anything they offer.

Back porch training! Perfect!

I have a 8-shot 357 so it was an expensive investment to buy 7 additional laser cartridges but now my whole family can practice between range visits on the back porch with ease. I have mine setup on a camera tripod so I can practice on different height perps. I am thinking about getting multiple sleds and phones so that I can set up a “course” with multiple perps in the back yard. With this system, I’ve reduced my draw-fire-bullseye down to under 2 seconds. Much improved over my initial times. Highly recommend!

Good but needs work

It really is a good dry fire tool. Mine is perfectly accurate (only tried up to 20 ft) with a clamped gun on a bench. 3 observations that could improve it in my opinion. It could be easier to line up the target. My iPhone 6 barely holds in place with the target in frame. It could also hold your score on the screen a little bit longer before removing it. I can barely make out what it says before it is removed. The lines on the target could also be darker because I can barely see them at 10 feet. But still a lot of fun and good for muscle memory.

The weak link of a decent product

The iTarget device itself is pretty good. The target is a good size, can be seen well from 30 feet. This is further away than you’d probably ever have to shoot from, but does allow for good trigger squeeze practice. iTargetPro on the other hand is horrible and the weak link of an otherwise decent product.

It seems like no matter what you do you get false hits. I have tried calibration, different light sources, types of light and it doesn’t matter.

iTargetPro doesn’t seem to make full use of the spectacular camera on iPhone 12, the image seems slightly out of focus.

The last ding is that you have to pay to get all the features of iTargetPro , this is after paying $100 for the product.

Great tool for practice

This will pay for itself the first few times you use it. Easy to setup. Accurate recording of where shots hit. Laser cartridge is actually very durable and well made. That was my concern ‘in a kit’ but I am glad I got the whole package. Its definitely better made than the cartridge I had. Not thru all capabilities yet but impressed so far. Nicely done.
Would give it 5 stars if the phone wasn’t a bit in the way of target without standing off to the side but a minor nit.

Fun and practical

I'm having fun with both my 45 ACP and my AR 15. On a serious note I had a red dot that was way out as it was delivered. Last trip to the range I went through 2 clips and still it was not correct. Set up in my garage with your product and 11 shots later I put the next six in the #10. So its very practical as well.

If you could only give some kick back you might put the ammo folks out of business 😁

Great Training App

I saw this talk about on an internet site. I looked for reviews and found most very good. I purchased the iTarget Pro and the add on purchase then downloaded iTargetPro . After viewing the instruction video and a little practice I got it set-up. I love it!! It has helped my grip to control the gun, my trigger pull and my site picture. Outstanding value and the company was right back to me to answer my question. Thanks for a great and fun product!!

Decent training aid, but needs work

Bought the setup a couple of months ago and by and large it works pretty well. It registers the hits and you get instant feedback, which is positive. On the negative side, trying to stop false hits is a challenge at best. Often I have to place the target holder in a dark corner of the room. Have a adjusted the sensitivity settings numerous ways with moderate success. Just when I think I have it set, false shots start to register. Finally, there is a feature that allows you to save the target image to your photos. This only works about half of the time. That is a pain because you lose a target and you cannot analyze you shots. That said, iTargetPro is free and the expectation should be commensurate.

Good deal •Beginner or Advanced

I’m in a condo 20x40 so with a long hallway I can set my target at a tape measured 30 ft / Works perfect after a little setting / 1st thing that helped me tremendously was my led lighting with a dimmer as I could adjust lighting perfect / had it for 2 days and my arms are killing me / SO SO much fun and you learn at the same time / I put 1873 rounds on target /Its helping my finger control 100% /only negative is they should have made the Target double sided with the silhouette and offered it as and option /

I’m hated it, before I loved it

When I first set up this app I was getting false ghost shots. It would just go off. I tried everything but couldn’t get it to stop ghost shooting. I assumed it was just another crappy product. I then reinstalled iTargetPro and it worked and continues to work perfectly. I have zeroed in all my green lasers at 20’. Dead on!! It would have took me forever and been such a hassle at the range but it was so easy with this tool. I love this product.

Bought last week. Easy set up using an iPhone table stand from weather tech. Started my quick draw practice. Works great. Day 3 I incorporated a shot timer. Works great. You can also rely on the laser alone and shoot around the house and see where the red laser hits. Easy to gauge follow up movement and sight alignment. Highly recommend.

The app says it does not reconize the targets but then it starts shooting and can't stop it. I have an Apple 7 phone and can't get any of the app to work, sometimes the settings work distance setting only. VERY DISSAPOINTED !

Said it doesn't see target know No instructions what to do whatsoever when this condition occurs try changing the light settings nothing

Paul dillon   2 years ago

Using the app on a moto g power. The app is registering benched shots way off target and its not even consistently innacurate. It doesn't register any hits inside the inner circle. But if I hit the lower right triangle it registers clear to the opposite side of the target. The laser rocks. The app is killing me.

They have changed their app to a very irritating platform. What use to be a simple, easy to use app has now been "updated". The simplicity of the app is now gone. I've been going back and forth with iTarget about getting the old app back, as they stated to me. So far, not possible. The frustration of this process is not worth the $100 I paid for the product. I've recommended this product to many others. I can no longer do that. I'm not looking for a solution to my issue. I'm researching different products.
