The Rotoworld integration is so bad

Look I know it’s a scoring app first for sports but the Rotoworld update part of this is the only reason I downloaded NBCSportsScores because they were forcing me to from the old app. I’m a UX designer myself and I have to say the older simpler, even res scaled only for iPhone 4 and lower was better than this integration.. here are my quick thoughts more from an NBA perspective: first of all why do the all headshots have different color backgrounds and why this weird shaped rectangle for scale.. even having a circle headshot would make it more elegant.. makes it look like so cheap and unofficial. Secondly why are all my players updated limited to 8 on “my news” instead of the full roster I put in with updated that are real-time.. third the cards for the player updated should show a preview line like it did before on the old app to give more context to type of game they had... also you could have done more with the player cards.. we could have seen some split stats or extended averages with some interaction pieces to see what players might be trending, etc but nope.. horrible app with so much potential left behind.. even the padding, color palettes and corner radius do not seem to have guidelines they are following.. it’s a mess and I haven’t even tried their scoring tabs yet and only been using this for the past couple days.. sure there will be more to come

No Serious Competition

I switched to B/R a while back because they had some higher quality articles than the competition. The second I switched, they started allowing the same low-effort blog writers that had put me off of other apps. After over a year of tolerating this, NBC decided to sunset Rotoworld and showed me NBCSportsScores, which turned out to be a gift. It definitely has its flaws and seems a little bit like content overload, but the content quality is so much better than any other app I have found. Another advantage is its ultra-fast game score notifications, the fastest I have yet to find. Long story short, it didn’t take me long to outright delete my other sports news apps.

Good Night Sweet Prince

I was a daily, and even compulsive user, of the Rotoworld app for years. It was my go-to for quick fantasy updates especially for injury/status/availability. Also for general team/player news and transactions. Draft updates were solid as well. It was short, sweet, correct and to the point. How it was colored, how they noted the source at the bottom, everything - it just worked. Yeah, NBCSportsScores had some glitches, but it was simple and functional. I’m very disappointed to see it go in favor of this new app + layout. I feel this was not at all necessary and was done just because “innovation” and cosmetic overhauls are shoehorned all over unnecessarily in the tech industry. I don’t normally write reviews. I’m just a dude in his 20s who had a daily routine of sorts for years with an app, and now that app is gone. The true Rotoworld app will be sorely missed.

Very clunky interface

I only got NBCSportsScores because the NBC Sports Talk app has been sunset. This new app is terrible.
I got the new app so I could continue to follow Sports Talk. There are two major problems. First, if you leave NBCSportsScores to go do something else, like check email or text messages, when you go back to Scores the Sports Talk stories reload and take you back to the most recent story.
Also, comments are listened most recent first, so you either have to read the conversations backwards or scroll down to the bottom and make your way back up. Which leads to another problem: when you get to the top of the comments the page automatically scrolls back all the way to the start of the article.
The scores portion is heavily biased toward games and events airing on NBC properties. Other sports are are far better for getting scores.

Awful...still

I had the old Sports Talk app for years, so I figured I should at least try the new version. It’s been about a year, I think, and I still can’t stand this bloated mess of an app. Why they moved everything into one app is beyond me. It’s still laggy, buggy, and bloated. Every other sports app is customizable so I don’t have to waste phone space with talk about fantasy sports, car racing, golf, or things I don’t care about. As well, the writers have gotten bad about actually knowing about the teams they’re writing about. Hardball talk is the worst with this. They can’t hide their disdain for certain teams, which seems to be most of the teams, then sound like buffoons when writing about them. I’ll miss PFT, PST, and PBT, but the others have gone way downhill in content. CBT used to look more into the mid-majors, but less so the last few years.

I just want Rotoworld

I just want Rotoworld or otherwise would not have downloaded NBCSportsScores. I wish the Rotoworld aspect of NBCSportsScores looked like the Rotoworld app I had been using for the last several years. I would give it more stars if it did.
I am trying to set up my players and when I search player names it gives me ALL sports, which is incredibly frustrating when I search a common last name. Rotoworld used to allow search by sport and now it doesn’t? When I do find the player I want the star next to their name to follow the player is way too small to click.
I don’t want any of the other features but feel they are forced on me.
Technically it’s the same news updates so that keeps it from being 1-star.

No Widget

I like NBCSportsScores and would give it 5 stars but it is missing one key feature. If they would add a widget to allow me to see upcoming games and current game scores it would be the only sports app I would need. Unfortunately I still have the competitors app installed because they have this very useful feature. I’ll give NBC time to see if they add it. If the option to have a widget isn’t added I’ll eventually remove it and stick with the one I hate.

Need a light theme

The content is great but for some reason the white on black kills my eyes. Can’t even look at NBCSportsScores for long period.

Please make the option to go from white on black to black on white and this will immediately become my go to sports app. Until then no thanks, it kills my eyes.

One of the best sports app

I like NBCSportsScores for the scores of most of the sports play in America and around the world. This is especially true about your coverage of Soccer and the NBA. I also would like to more see coverage of car racing like Indy and Formula one. And I would like the coverage of the Giro de Italia as well as the two races in cycling that do. This still a great App, thank you.

Helpful!

I think NBCSportsScores is so helpful! It breaks down which person from which sport has gotten a medal which is so nice to know for me. None of the other Olympic apps do this. Also it tells me for the quarter final and semi final games who will be competing with who as soon as each game is finished. I like it a lot!

Great Sports app Love the Scoreboard

Really good sports app and I use them all. The layout of the scoreboard is unique and easy to navigate. I love the ability to sort by game “excitement”. Dark theme is available for interface which works well for me. Drilling into game statistics is easy and a wealth of information is available.

Listen to me people

Listen to me. I’m that guy. That regular guy that used the Rotoworld app for years and loved its simplicity. The guy that didn’t need it “upgraded”. Now you’ll have to sift through mounds of mindless crap to get a lesser version of what you had before. Are you that guy too? Then don’t do it. Don’t give in to this trash. Demand the old app or go find a new place for your quick hit news. Please don’t give in to this trash. Take a stand for once in your life. Start your own revolution!

Not Optimized for Efficiency

I'm using NBCSportsScores since the Rotoworld app is being migrated to this one. On Rotoworld, you can see 6 news items at once. On this all, only 3. Feels claustrophobic and ultimately it's inefficient for the fantasy player wishing to scroll through news fast before a game is about to start. I'll search for another solution and I'm open to using NBCSportsScores if they optimize it better.

Missing a lot.

I have been using CBS sports app for scores and would prefer to try NBC so I downloaded their app. Missing a lot that I am interested in (that neither app have), (women’s NCAA basketball, NCAA baseball).
Also missing sports the CBS app does offer (exp: NCAA men’s Basketball/football-OVC scores). So I will probably keep the CBS app and delete the NBC app since at least CBS does have the OVC scores I want.
Keep working on NBCSportsScores NBC and I will give you another try later.

Fall From Grace

I’ve been a Profootballtalk guy since before they went NBC. It is most unfortunate that their mobile presence is practically unusable, because what they do is so relevant for the quick news hit. Can’t scroll more than four stories before I’m kicked back to the splash page. Layout is crap. For years, PFT has been the life raft of a poorly functioning app. Unfortunately for me, the poorness of NBCSportsScores has pushed me to Bleacher Report solely because I can not access PFT.
