HeritageUnits often crashes for no reason the owner can care less to fix it or listen to members to remove scrapped units or add special units, has asked certain people to stop posting photos to help others out to know if certain locomotives are still around. When uploading photos there is an option to include multiple special units in your photo and the owner seems bothered to add “highlights” to include the multiple units in the photo. It seems like a waste of money to pay for the subscription to upload as many photos as you want & to be told to stop uploading photos.

The owner has no intention of reading emails or replying to them if it is about a locomotive that has been scrapped or is a special unit but isn’t on the site with proof of it being scrapped or still around. HeritageUnits could be a lot better if the owner listened to members who are giving information with proof, having photos include multiple units and to fix the random crashes HeritageUnits has.

I purchased a premium subscription from the iOS App Store and it was processed promptly by Apple. Unfortunately, it's one full day later and HeritageUnits doesn't recognize my purchase and I'm still bombarded by ads. I've deleted and reloaded HeritageUnits several times but still no recognition of my purchase.

To make matters worse, I looked for a link like a "Contact Us" to report the problem and it looks like one doesn't exist. Really? So now I'm forced to use HeritageUnits Store review process to get someone's attention...

Maybe it works better on a newer iOS but the report submission part needs work. It’s difficult to submit for an Amtrak engine on an Amtrak train but running on another railroad’s line. Keep running into dead ends where I try to make a selection but the only option available is cancel. I select railroad and division go to select train, change to Amtrak and the train is not listed. I may be doing something wrong but if so then the right way to proceed is not obvious.

Always logs me out after a certain amount of time and I always have to log back in

I made a couple reports on some units and one time when I was just messing around, I clicked pretty much every heritage unit on the list and I got banned?!? I try to report a heritage unit I saw that day but not screwing around that time, i click the green button “YOU’VE REACHED YOUR LIMIT FOR SPOTS. ENJOY SOME COFFEE AND TRY AGAIN IN A FEW HOURS.” I try again in a few hours and it still shows me the message. Great app and all but PLEASE FIX THIS.

HeritageUnits is alright for tracking heritage units (It helped me find NJ transit 4109) but there are many issues with HeritageUnits. It constantly logs me out of HeritageUnits for no reason. Also catches can or may be faked, which isn’t good for finding trains. Overall HeritageUnits isn’t good but it isn’t bad either

I enjoy using HeritageUnits to find stuff near me! However I use a free account which means a limited amount of photos so I’d really appreciate if everybody would get unlimited photos because I don’t like trying to pick a photo to delete in order to place in a photo of something else! Also, my notifications for nearby locomotives only worked once and then it just stopped! Can there also be a fix for this?

I used HeritageUnits to report some engines and put some pictures. I just wish that you could have unlimited photos like it’s kinda dumb actually. It also sometimes says the you have reached your limit if reporting spots try again in a few hours but it won’t work for 2 months. I just eventually gave up and deleted my account and made it again like with the same email and spotter handle and that’s kinda annoying but other than that it good.

So I went to the heritage units app and when it was tracking my location it took me to a different spot I’m in Manassas VA, it always takes me to Richmond or some other location and there is another problem. The posting. I can’t post on HeritageUnits anymore I saw Amtrak 184 on Sunday and it wouldn’t put my post on there, every five minutes I look or something and it’s not there and I have to post it continuously, and I can’t post anymore it’s always saying “You’ve reached your limit of spots, please enjoy some coffee and wait a few hours, I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE SUNDAY AND IT STILL SAYS THAT, wait a few hours more like wait idk how long, this is a bug right here and the location tracking keeps taking me somewhere else, I’m a Manassas VA railfan, the tracker of the map keeps putting me in a different location like Richmond, I don’t live in Richmond, please fix these bugs.

This wonderful app gives an exact location of all Heritage units out there, and it is very useful. I recorded UP 1996 and 1988 using HeritageUnits. But after I recorded it, I went to report both locomotives and a error message said "Your account is suspended from reporting". I had made my account two days prior and I have no idea how to go around that. I would like to report locomotives for other users. But I don't know how or why my account was "suspended" from reporting.

HeritageUnits is an amazing app especially for railfans looking for heritage units, the only thing is that I wish older reports would be a certain color and active reports would be another for example:
🟢 = Current report
🔴 = more than an hour old
🟠 = report is 3 hours or older
🟡 = report is 6 hours or older
⚪️ = report is 12 hours or older
⚫️ = report is 24 hours or older
Something like that, that would help with figuring out which reports are current and which are older, again, this is a great great app, I love it, this is just a suggestion

HeritageUnits is amazing and I’ve used it to catch locomotives such as Amtrak 156 and 184! It has some extra potential though beyond what it had now. These are just some BNSF ideas I had: if the BNSF geometry train and the executive passenger trains were on there, that would be great! Also, weird/uncommon locomotives such as a b40-8 or a triclops gp60m or be nice. Maybe you could include CN stripes locos or c40-8ms for example. Loram trains or maintenance trains too! This part may be hard but locomotives that are somewhat far from their home territory such as a ferromex loco in Seattle. It would also be nice if heritage cars like BNSF’s heritage hopper fleet would pop on here.

I love how I can report Heritage units and stuff like that but what I hate is the limit for reporting at a time is 2 and it’s pretty stupid in my opinion and there’s an error that says You’ve reached your limit for spots and Please enjoy some coffee and try again in a few hours and I’ve literally waited like a few weeks and it still says that like come on app please fix this and make the limit more than 2 reports at a time and fix that error please

Great app for tracking all those units you always wanted to see. It's like Waze where there are reports from users for other users to see in real time. You can also upload photos of the trains also. It's easy to use, i highly recommend it. Even if you are just a railroad photographer, it's still fun and great.

I was trying to put in that I spotted a soo line loco and it kept saying that it had a timezone error and I could not report it I really like HeritageUnits and would like to see it become bigger that what it is but if I keep getting an error like this you can't use HeritageUnits sufficiently

there is some stuff that needs to be fixed. I think that the limit should be more than 2 reports, like maybe 5. Like what if you’re on the Hudson Line on a weekend and see more than 2 heritage units?

If you’re a railfan, this is HeritageUnits for you! I’ve been a user for years now and the newest update (June 2024) is absolutely amazing. So sleek and smooth and intuitive and user friendly. I can’t thank the developer enough for not only creating an app that is so useful in the railfan community but for keeping up with it and making the extra effort to keep it up and be the best it can be. Do not hesitate to download this if you have any interest in North American railroading, you will NOT be disappointed.

I downloaded HeritageUnits so i can track locomotives and i check out my local locomotives/railroads. At least 50 times a day I'm on HeritageUnits! Everything works as extended. When I realized anybody could publicly report locomotives I thought that id run into a bunch of people making fake reports but so far there have been none! Overall, HeritageUnits is very useful and fun yo use

I wish they would add MBTA heritage units for Boston Railfaners.

Another cool idea could be chat for every to talk in so everyone would ask questions and talk about train stuff.

I have liked trains for many years now a I discovered HeritageUnits 2021 and it works very well and I absolutely love the ns 1072 (Illinois terminal) and I saw on HeritageUnits a few months ago that the Illinois terminal was heading to where I live near and I got to see my favorite locomotive after years of wanting to see it I’ve seen it 2 times since then!

If you are a railfanner HeritageUnits is for you. Not only can you see heritage units around you, but HeritageUnits has other features than just recording heritage unit locations. For example you can view rail line maps and mileposts, as well as train symbols.

The only thing I have against HeritageUnits is the fact that you need pay to post more photos. The standard free app gives you a max of ten photos, but if you pay six bucks a year you can post an unlimited amount. Aside from that, I think it's perfect.

It’s good for knowing where trains are just wish it would show you love time where it is going
