All their games are biased so they win, some I’ve kept and play, other I’ve deleted. This one is worst than most. Most times your tiles won’t have a vowel! Or are all vowels . No vowels, no words, so you change them in, only not like Scrabble. You can’t put back some and draw, you have to put back all 7 and try again. Nuts, you make good games, when are you going to get it that people want FAIR games. You get the good letters at the end of the game. Why? What does boy howdy get out of making such slanted games, feed their ego, what? I’d like to know. Yea, it’s free, so what, I’d pay for a good fair game.
You NEVER get letters to make a decent or even a word on the first deal.
You people do know E is the most used vowel in the English language?
Too many times the letters are all vowels or all consonates with no possible plays. I’ve become frustrated with game and will delete it after this. You mentioned exchanging letters but doing it a couple of times during one session makes it a waste of time.
Let me say there are alot of bad word games out there. Filled with spam (scrabble) and whats the big deal about so many ball shaped word turn games? (messes with my spacial dyslexia)
So this is a good simple create words game. After playing several thousands game tho I have two suggestions.
1) If the algorithm would spend less time figuring out how to thwart me (like seeing I always play on the “extra play” tile so it spreads them so far apart I cant ever get both) and more time giving consistent and equal amount of VOWELS to regular letters - thatd be great.
2) Less giving THREE D’s or Three Rs and again - more giving actual vowels in an EVEN manner - would also be great.
I have played this game for years but have become increasingly frustrated with it. It seems that should I play a high point word early in the game, it begins to give me all vowels or no vowels at all, forcing me to spend a turn or sometimes two in order to have a tray of usable tiles. It seems designed to compress scores into a certain range. Often, I feel that it wants me to “outthink” it, rather simply enjoy it. That said, it can be fun and almost addictive!
I love word games, and I love this developer. However, I’ve noticed that this game doesn’t use a scrabble dictionary for it’s words, and I can’t determine which dictionary it is using. That can be frustrating when words that should work don’t, like “zen” or words that shouldn’t work like “nyc” do, or work one round but not the next. I’m still enjoying it a ton though!
Like playing this game, but 10 turns is a bit too short. I’m just getting started and the game is over.
This game is akin to playing Scrabble with yourself. The major thing I dislike is that the game often approves words that are not, in fact, real words.
I had a question regarding a word - I sent an email and they replied to me. They care what users think :)
Short and sweet. Doesn’t take a lot of time but still makes me happy.
It’s enjoyable to play a word game that isn’t competitive. It’s all about making the most of the letters I’m given, no pressure.
I really enjoy all Boy Howdy games. They are all entertaining and fun to play. No hassle just a pleasure. Mine stopped working so I deleted and started over. Then worked just fine.
I am fairly new to gaming, usually I am put off by all the bells and whistles. I want content that is achievable, with scalable increases in difficulty, challenging but meditative and relaxing. I don't play games to get stressed out fighting the clock. I came across the family of Boy Howdy games completely by accident, and with only a couple of exceptions I have been happy with every one I have downloaded.
This game is basically Scrabble with a couple of neat twists. The best one is that the special squares, the ones that can jump you score by letter or by word, move around the board at random for each successive board you play. This makes for some unexpected outcomes and keeps things exciting. The letter distribution is interesting and I am still thoroughly enjoying this word game. Keep the hits coming!
I like playing against myself. I can take my time and make the best words I can. It’s fun and relaxing and addictive.
Very frequently, it will just stop working. The only option I have found is to uninstall and then reinstall. Can you offer any advice?
The unique feature of new bonus tile combinations with every new game, and that it is a solitaire game (It’s always my turn!) is really great, plus the modification that was recently added that lets us swap only some letters on a turn changes everything ! I now will start new games over and over until I get a bonus tile alignment where I can hit three or four tiles with one word, then keep swapping until I get the letters I need, and wham! 600 points and even over a thousand a game! Very satisfying !
Fun game to play one on one with yourself & leave for appts etc & return to finish up your own game. Trying to beat your previous scores is fun, but you must get the correct tiles to help! Great idea & fun to play, thanks 😊
I have enjoyed this game very much. I lost my scrabble cubes years ago and ever since I got an iPhone I have been looking for something similar. I love this! Thank you!
A player recently mentioned getting Bonus Tiles in this review section. What are they and how do I get them? Also do you have suggestions for increasing scores? I do love this game and play it all the time.
So many thanks for offering this great and maybe more than decades old game. I can’t remember not having Scrabble in my home. My children are grown so very, very rarely do I get to have an opponent. So,I have, occasion, taken out the game to play against myself (and many times I lose, LOL). I wouldn’t mind having a computerized opponent( not an actual person). Thank you also for offering this game for free.
Simply love it, I get great scores.
So much fun to play with words.
Still playing and enjoying beating my own score. Simply delightful.
