Battery Monitor BM2 Reviews

I installed app years ago on phones and my cars head unit. It works on phones but NOT on my android head unit. I just noticed there it list BM2 wanbaolu as the developer! I uninstalled app then reinstalled and it still in not connect via Bluetooth. But my phone does. I want to use my head unit instead of phone on this vehicle. Everything else sees Bluetooth but not BatteryMonitorBM2 on this unit!! Not happy.

Got BatteryMonitorBM2 installed worked correctly one time. After that I connect to the devices and it connect about 10 seconds and BatteryMonitorBM2 crashes. iPhone 10max

The most recent update claims to have added support for Lithium batteries. It doesn’t let you select lithium batteries though. My lithium batteries show up as lead acid, and that screws up the read out. It looks like it assumes that any voltage reading above a certain point means the battery is charging, but LiFePOs can hold a charge above 14 V, so BatteryMonitorBM2 shows “charging” all the time. Lithium also has a different discharge curve than Lead Acid, so BatteryMonitorBM2 will show low battery when it’s not. Finally, the way these apps contrive to collect your location data is tiresome. Gratefully Apple lets you block it.

For me. I have to be within 10 foot of my car or the Bluetooth won’t connect. Other than that seems to work fine.

I bought this to monitor the health of the 12V battery in my BMW i3. I figured I would use it to see how often the DC-DC converter kicks on to recharge the battery.
The problem is that BatteryMonitorBM2 always seems to be "synchronizing data," which completely locks you out of doing ANYTHING else with BatteryMonitorBM2 . I've been able to look at historical info (for the day, for instance) exactly twice in the four days I've had this installed. At all other times, it is "synchronizing data," so not useful for anything else.

The first device I was able to FW update. The next two devices I bought unable to update FW. It’s great for monitoring battery condition and how the alternator is performing. I use AGM batteries so the condition status are a little off. I have 2 units in the truck ... one for the main battery and the other the auxiliary battery. The third unit is connected to the car.

Easy connection and Bluetooth setup. O got this for our RV battery monitoring. I like the history graph and helps to understand the charge and discharge of my our battery. A small issue that prevented the 5 star. The date field on the daily history graph is too short to display the day of the month.

BatteryMonitorBM2 is great. The only thing that I wish is that it would auto connect when I'm close to the Bluetooth transmitter. It does this in Android, so I suspect it's an Apple issue.

Great that custom battery voltages can be set for AGM and Lithium. I use 1 of each and this was an update I was hoping to see. I like that I can set up and monitor 2 batteries but wish I could swipe the screen left or right to see each Battery rather than having to select each battery through the setting menu. Or if both battery could be seen on a single window it would be nice. Really like BatteryMonitorBM2 . Get it, you will be happy you did.

Can I help you write description in English? It looks terrible! Use Gramarly app or something!

It’s well known that AGM battery voltage is way different from regular batteries, I would love to be able to configure BatteryMonitorBM2 that I’m using an AGM.

What it does, it does without any problems. I’ve been using it for well over a year now. I would like to see: 1) Ability to zoom in on volt vs time history graph, 2) Ability to select a specific date from the history graph instead of clicking backward one day at a time, 3) Setting for LiFePO4 batteries that have a higher (~13.35v) rest voltage so they don’t show up as “charging” when they’re actually at rest. FYI, the hardware pulls 2.3mA when connected to a bluetooth device, and 1.5-2mA disconnected. In case you track parasitic drains.

This is really a great app. Works 100% of the time. Fast quick and reliable. Strongly recommended.

Will this monitor 2 batteries?

They have been updating BatteryMonitorBM2 consistently. Seems to be working great and it’s nice to be able to monitor all my different batteries.

The only down side to this monitor is that the Bluetooth connectivity distance is very limited. Otherwise it does a great job of tracking and storing the battery voltage history.

Contrary to the original post there’s no difference in the chemistry for AGM vs. any other lead acid battery and that is what establishes the battery voltage. There are differences in the charging for various lead acid technologies to optimize the battery life but the basics are the same such as don’t discharge them below 50% capacity or about 12.2 VDC which is the point at which you get a low voltage warning with this software and hardware to optimize your battery life.
