Amazing sleep app

I subscribed to Calm and like their stories. The ones offered here allow the option of background sounds additionally. This is a truly life changing app. I got used to going to sleep to stories with that other app and tried this just before that renewed, which is more expensive than Slumber. This has taken its place and offers more around sleep specifically versus straight meditation. The options with the free app are great yet subscribing opens all the past offerings. Amazing amazing amazing with different voices and accents so you have plenty of choice. Additionally, Slumber offers a darker screen that is conducive to use in the dark before bed. Never harsh or bright. The pictures are soothing and relaxing and add to the calm you feel using Slumber. Sure, use the free one yet subscribe to support Slumber maker and have many more archives to explore. Excellent. Soothing. Calming. Helps me fall asleep especially when away from home. I don’t even need anything at home to fall asleep just feel comforted hearing it and having it as a routine for sleep. Sets a totally amazing mood. My spouse listens with me and has also gotten used to it in a good way and finds it soothing and comforting.

Incredible!

I am trialing both the this app App and the Calm App. I really love them both but I keep coming back to this app. I love that you have full control of the background sound effects. It’s also lesser expensive then the Calm App. They have a much broader selection of my favorites, Soothing Nature Sounds. The sounds are so incredibly crisp, sharp, realistic, hypnotic in a 3D sense and the selections aren’t your typical sounds you find in every other app. They really stepped outside of the box and put much time and emphasis into it.

I hate going to bed at night for my own personal reasons, however the this app App makes me EXCITED to go to sleep every night! I can’t wait to try out a new sound theme or cozy story when my head falls to my white down fluffy pillow:)) You have nothing to lose to just to try it out for 7 days for FREE! It’s really easy to get out of it if you choose not to keep it. I bailed on the Calm App after my trial and it was as easy as one click so I’m sure it’s the same protocol with this one, but trust me,,,,you’ll probably want to keep it:)) I’m definitely keeping this one! You guys saved my sleeping life! Thank you!!!

Couple suggestions

Slumber has been really helpful! I used to lie awake at night for at least an hour because my mind is going a mile a minute but now I fall asleep a lot more easily. I do have a couple suggestions though:

1. Would love to be able to see more of a historical timeline that tells you which story you listened to on which day and what time you started it. Right now it just gives you a streak number which tbh is a bit stupid because it isn’t always accurate. I’ve listened to stories before and then it doesn’t count them for some reason so my streak resets.

2. This happened to me last night for the first time but I guess I ran into an error in the middle of the story. I don’t know the specifics because I was sleeping when it happened but essentially, the story stopped at some point and then it just kept playing the soundscape in the background. Which is fine, I don’t necessarily have a problem with that if something goes wrong. However, it continued past the length of the story and just kept playing. And that’s the part that I think needs to be fixed because it ended up waking me up in the middle of the night which kind of ruins the whole point of using Slumber in the first place to fall asleep properly.

Game changer

I absolutely love Slumber! I did the free version but upgraded to a year’s subscription of the premium almost immediately. Already worth every penny. I don’t have severe insomnia or anything like that, but have for awhile had problems with waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep. I tried Benadryl every night (I don’t advise this - daily use can cause some really unpleasant side effects!) and also Melatonin, but this app beats anything else I have tried by a long shot! I use a soft Bluetooth speaker headband and keep it on low all night long. For lack of a better description, it gives my brain something to “latch on” to if I wake up instead of whatever else (snippets of conversations, songs, things I read the day before etc.) is banging around in my head. The stories and voices are soothing (the French Whisperer is my favorite) and wonderfully boring LOL, so I just drift back off to sleep in no time. I just wish I had found this a long time ago. Download it now and buy the Premium, you won’t regret it.

Favorite Sleeping App

this app is my favorite app that I used and I would give it 5 starts for the free version of it. I feel like my availability and freedom throughout Slumber was very nice for the amount I “paid”. In Slumber I got to listen and experience music of my choice to fall asleep to. I never thought I could go to sleep so easily with music playing, but it really worked. I got to choose which sounds stood out more and how loud it was. I got to choose from ocean, rain, fire, birds and much more. My personal favorite was the rain and fire. Slumber helped me go to sleep faster because my mind was focused on the sounds rather than then my thoughts. I also got really good sleep because I had no dreams that I recalled which means no nightmares that woke me up like I usually have. In general, Slumber was great for $0 and helped me sleep better. The only thing I would recommend is a little bit more availability for the free users in the “just added” category. Lastly, the overall appearance and set up of Slumber was easy to use and very relaxing and satisfying to look at with the color choice.

Some Suggestions Please Read (please don’t use an pre-written response)

Hi,
You are probably tired of me updating my reviews all of the time, but I have a view suggestions. Over all this is a great app, but I find myself getting bored of the same stories. I don’t know if you actually communicate with the narrators or the writers, but here are some story ideas. “Airline this app” I love planes and having a story about it would be great! “The Australian Train Ride” I love the train stories and the Australian train rides are extremely beautiful. “North Carolina Trails” maybe walking through the woods on a relaxing hike, finally reaching the top of the mountain. Also, I understand it is harder to record two people doing the same story, but I would like it if we could have a choice for a female or male voice. You all are probably working very hard during these rough times, and I would like your team to know that y’all are helping so many people, and all of y’all are worth it. Thank you for helping so much people with the stress of COVID-19.

Best Sleep App Ever!

I’ve tried a few apps for sleep, and this one is by far my favorite. I tried the free version first, and loved it so much that I paid for a year subscription. This is probably one of my only apps that was worth spending money on. And I mean ALL of my apps, not just the sleep ones.

I love that they add new stories and narrations often, and it’s fun that this app releases seasonally-appropriate stories (pumpkin stuff in autumn, cherry blossom viewing in spring). You can also toggle a variety of white noise options (rain, birds) to superimpose on the narration if you like.

The only change I might suggest is an option to delay the start of the program after the user presses play, maybe just 30 seconds or a minute or two, because after I start the selection I still need to get comfortable and say goodnight to my hubby, and my rustling around makes it hard to hear the very beginning of the story. Still gets 5 stars from me, and will get another subscription from me when my year is up.

One time, and it's amazing! Read this!

I had a little trouble falling asleep to the "Leaf in a stream" because I had trouble not thinking about other things, luckily during the segment it relaxed me really well even though I was in the car, close to the end it talked about having random thoughts drift away like clouds in the blue sky, 2 mins before the end I was asleep in a car, with my seat barely leaned back. The only reason I woke up (Just now July 17th around 9:50) is because my dad played the baseball radio station. I loved just listening to it. And it gave me like a 2 min dream that I don't remember much, but I know it was soothing. After my dad played it on his phone I immediately downloaded Slumber , because it takes me awhile to fall asleep on a daily basis. I recommend this especially for road trips when the car is quiet with headphones. I plan on using Slumber many times more.
THANKS YOU this app!

A life saver

I wanted to wait to write this review to see if Slumber really worked and if it’s true that it gets better the more you use it. Boy am i glad I waited. I have been having trouble falling asleep at night and wanted to try a natural solution vs medication and started listening to different sound machines on some streaming services. They weren’t enough and I still had trouble falling asleep. When I first started listening to the free sleep meditations I thought it was so silly but I felt my body listening to the soothing voice and actually relaxing. I don’t remember how the story ends because I fell asleep. Now after 56 nights using it I fall asleep in the first 3-5 minutes of putting it on and seriously considering the full version which is only $40 a year ($3 and change a month). I am so happy I downloaded Slumber and look forward to having good night sleeps for the rest of my life!!!

Has helped my insomnia for more than a year!

I have had horrible insomnia for as long as I can remember. I’ve been prescribed sleeping pills and anxiety medications to help knock me out. Somehow, Slumber just helps my mind to focus on a story or meditation and allows my mind to stop racing long enough for me to fall asleep. I was having some success with the free version but started getting to the point where I was reciting the words in my head because I had heard them so many times, which kept my awake. I finally got the premium version and use it pretty much every day! I would say I have gotten my money’s worth, especially considering I was paying 5x as much on medications. I do wish more of the content was longer (I hate when I get to the end of one and am still awake) and that more was released more often, but that’s my only complaint!

Great app for sleep

I’ve used this app for almost a year. Some of the narrators I like better than other, which is why being able to search by narrator is handy. They choice of stories is great, short stories to narratives that are a couple hours long. You can also learn something while listening, they have stories to take you to other countries or teach you about history, and some are just for fun. The sounds relaxing music is nice too but I still prefer to listen to the stories, with soft music in the background. There are even children’s stories for parent who need something to help their little ones fall asleep. Less expensive than other apps and I kinda of prefer not having “celebrity” voices which make me start thinking about their movies or something instead of focusing on the story.

Amazing App

I was very hesitant to pay $45 a year for an app I was unsure if I’d consistently use. On top of that, I felt like the week long trial wasn’t enough time for me to determine how well Slumber worked. Well, I decided to risk it anyway and I am so glad I did. Slumber puts me to sleep within 30 minutes, and now my fiancé can’t sleep without it, either! All of the narrators have soothing voices that somehow magically put me to sleep. I love knowing that every night, no matter how wired my brain is or what my sleeping pattern was like the night before, I can always rely on Slumber to get me to fall asleep. The last time I dealt with insomnia was the reason why I downloaded Slumber— I haven’t dealt with it since! My mind is able to relax and slow down thanks to Slumber, thus helping me to fall into a deep this app. I love Slumber and have recommended it to all of my family and friends!

BEST SLEEP OF MY LIFE

I've struggled with hard-core insomnia my entire life. One recalcitrant to any and all interventions and medications.

So when I say that after I gave this app a chance, it was the best thing I've ever done. I've never slept so freaking GOOD, it is astounding. The perfection of medically-proven calming techniques, awe-inspiring and exquisitely written stories, even fantasy ones (!!!!), and soporific soundscapes (fire on the beach, rain on tin roof being just a few of the best) make for one speedy trip to dreamtown yall. And they add a new story about every night. It is solidly the best decision I've ever made and I stand five-stars all the way behind it.

I've fallen asleep within minutes every single night since that first time using this app and I've not looked back. I sleep so soundly, you just have to have this app. Guaranteed best sleep of your life. It is literally LIFE CHANGING.

I love it! 😍 just a suggestion.

I love Slumber ! It's amazing! The stories are so relaxing! And they even have a "Free" tab, so you don't have to keep scrolling to find a free one if you don't have the premium. I find that super convenient, many of these types of apps don't have a "Free" tab, but this has!!! I really love how this is setup. My favorite sound has to be the barbershop. Only because I can't try out any of the other sounds. And yes, there is another sound but I'm not a fan of that. So maybe could you put some sounds for free?

This is just an idea that I have. What if there's a rotation? Like for the stories, the sounds. So one rotation would last 1 month, and there is 12 rotations, so you could experience all of what you guys have to offer! This is just an idea, it's okay if don't take it.

Thank you for reading!!

Updated review

Ok I’m bumping this up to 5 stars now. The developer responded and I haven’t had problems since those two nights a few months ago. I love love the sleep stories. I usually don’t have a problem sleeping but I have pretty bad anxiety so every now and then I get cycling thoughts and can’t sleep. Now, I just put on a sleep story and repeat the words back to myself to stop the cycling and it pretty much always works! I don’t have the paid and it’s not a problem, I find it comforting to listen to the same stories over and over. I rarely pay for apps and wouldn’t mind paying for this one if it was a small flat fee but a subscription or a $250 flat fee is just way too much!! Love Slumber though.

Slumber does have a weird fascination with pyramids showing up in stories though lol 🤔😂

————

I used Slumber last night at 3 am when I was on the verge of an anxiety attack and the story TOTALLY worked and I loved it and I told a bunch of people about it...
Now tonight Slumber won’t open, it just freezes/doesn’t load at all. I’m only seeing the picture of the moon. I tried deleting and reinstalling and it did the same thing. 😫 I’m so sad and now I’m all worked up before bed

EDIT: I’m bumping this up to three stars because when it works it REALLY works. I hope they fix this soon.

READ THIS!

This is the best app EVER. This might be the only app that actually makes me go to sleep and I ADORE IT. Being a tween girl, it’s hard to fall asleep at night with all of the notifications u get on your phone. But when u get Slumber and put your phone on do not disturb ITS AMAZING. I do have one complaint tho, Slumber has story’s u could listen to while going to sleep. BUT! Not all the story’s are free, it’s upsetting that u actually have to pay or do a free trial. Like I said being a tween, u don’t get everything you want. Especially if it cost money. I know this is the only other way to make money but with an app like this, the LAST thing you wanna do is pay for your sleep. I want to be a game developer when I get older. I understand that payment choices are ads or paying constantly. All I ask is if u could make more things free. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK 👍🏽👍🏽

Love it!!

Slumber is what can I say... amazing!! This helps me sleep every night! And app workers or what ever you are called listen I think that there shouldn’t be any premium things. Because some stories that people want to listen got they can’t because it’s premium. So if you don’t want to pay 4.99 a month wait a second so if you were to pay $4.99 each month for a year or 12 months for an entire year that would be ummm... you would be paying 5,988 dollars a year for an app. I just think that that’s silly 🙃 so if you guys don’t want to waste 5,988 a year on an app then don’t get premium but if you don’t mind wasting your money then yah I suggest that you do it. But then again just saying this is my opinion you don’t have to take this seriously if you don’t want to. Well if you do get Slumber I just know that you will love it!! ❤️ 🥰

It Works

I’ve always been a light sleeper, and have had terrible problems falling and/or staying asleep since having children over 12 years ago. I’ve tried pills, pillows, counseling, meditation, music, boring audiobooks, etc with only fair success at best. I also rarely pay for apps, and this is the most expensive app I have ever bought! But I was desperate to get some decent sleep. At first I wasn’t successful with Slumber, but after trying different things Slumber offered, including things that I didn’t think would work, it’s been great! I usually fall asleep fairly quickly, and even better, when I wake at 3 am, it gets me right back to sleep (rather than be awake for 2 and 1/2 hours and then have to get up at 6:00 like I did for years). It’s not perfect 100% of the time, but it is by far the best “sleep aid” I have tried.

Worth the subscription

My daughter and I enjoy Slumber, it’s absolutely the best for us and we have tried many others. As an autistic child with generalized anxiety disorder, Slumber helps her to quiet her mind and think positively about herself as she is settling down for the night. We enjoy just about all of the stories and meditations and appreciate being able to loop them, especially the shorter ones, so that if she’s having trouble falling asleep she has a soothing voice and positive affirmations in the background for as long as it takes. We like the variety and adjustability of the background noises; she has always needed some “white noise” to help her fall asleep and STAY asleep and we have noticed improved quality of sleep for her since we have been using Slumber (about a year now). Thank you, this app, for peaceful sleep and sweet dreams!

GET THIS APP!

Slumber is so great and has helped me so much with sleeping. I used to have sleeping problems, and would lay in my bed restless all night… Until I found about this app. I just choose a free track and play it and it is like it just helps me drift off to sleep. You guys are so helpful, thank you soooo much.

But there’s something I think you guys should add to… There are only two free meditations and I’ve already done both and only one of them really helped me. It would help a lot if you made a few more free… It doesn’t have to be that many, but the same meditation is kinda repetitive. I say this for all the other things, like stories, sounds etc. There’s really not much free and I debated on buying the premium but didn’t.

Anyway, thank you guys so much! this app is great! Five star rating ABSOLUTELY!

This app actually helps

Before I found this app I tried different apps like Calm and Headspace. this app was the best for me out of all of them mostly because of it’s many free options. I’m a sleepless teen who’s parents won’t pay for something like this even though it has been so useful. Although Calm and Headspace has free options as well, they have much less and they are harder to find. Most teens struggle so much with sleep I’m glad that there is at least one place with a few free options. In a few years if I’m still struggling with sleep I would be willing to pay for more but until then Slumber has been very helpful. One thing I might add is that the sleep stories should be a little more entertaining, something to fall asleep to rather than a description of something to bore you to sleep.

A great sleep inducer

I've ALWAYS had sleep issues...both falling asleep and staying asleep. I've had Slumber less than a week, but it seems to help with both. When I wake up at night, I just hit play, and pretty much fall right back to sleep...sometimes within a few minutes, instead of an hour or more :) It also gives you the option to have ambient music behind narration, which is nice.
I would give it five stars but for a few minor things. You only get a few stories in free version before you have to start buying additional stories. You can play free ones over again, and I guess making money is goal. Also, some voices are more soothing than others, but that's a personal preference...they all do the job. Def an app worth downloading, and I might buy another story or two if I get really tired of the ones that come with it, but they are $3 each, so...

Best Sleep App I’ve Used

I never write reviews, but I absolutely have to rave about this app. Not only do I feel like this is one of the best sleep apps I’ve ever used, I dare say it may actually be the best. Even my SO has commented on how much better my sleep (and his by proxy) has gotten. Slumber is worth every single penny. For reference I’ve always had trouble falling, and staying asleep. And, I travel a lot for work. With this app it’s much easier for me to fall asleep on planes, in hotels, and at home. I still wake up throughout the night, but far less frequently and I fall back asleep faster.

Do your health and well-being a favor and give Slumber a try. I think I started with a free week trial, or the free version (I can’t recall now). But, I knew after only a couple nights that I was going to make the commitment. You might too!

CAN’T SLEEP WITHOUT IT

I have been paying for the Headspace app for quite some time, but found myself going days and weeks without using it. I found the biggest thing I was missing was more options for sleep meditation. I tried everything to help me fall asleep (lavender, sleep masks, reading before bed). Nothing worked until I found this app. Since downloading this app, I have not gone a single night without using it. I love how many options you have to fall asleep to. I used to have a hard time going to sleep at a decent hour. I now get excited to go to bed so I can listen to a dream story or a meditation. I tried the free version for about a week until I decided I needed to pay for the year. Totally worth it!! Thank you this app for helping me fall asleep again! I haven’t slept like this since I was a toddler.

Such a help

There hasn’t been much besides my children that has changed my life but Slumber has! I have never, ever been able to go to sleep in the dark. I’ve always had a bathroom light on and the TV. Someone told me about Slumber Calm. I tried it but found it to be very frustrating unless you paid. I have only downloaded The free version of this app so far. I’m a skeptic, what can I say. I’ve used it for three weeks. I fall asleep in under five minutes. In the dark with no television. It has literally changed how well I fall asleep and sleep for the rest the night. I don’t know that I actually need to pay for Slumber because what they offer you in free choices is actually enough. But I think I’m going to join anyway just as a thank you for making such a great product.
