2 years agoI wish to appeal a fine imposed on my wife and I on 12th September 2021. We were travelling to Munich airport by train. We purchased two tickets at a cost of €11.90 each but we unintentionally failed to validate them. This was a genuine mistake on our part but the ticket inspector still imposed the fines of €60.00 each. He acknowledged, having seen our luggage that we were indeed travelling back to Ireland and were about to catch a flight that morning so the unvalidated tickets were of no use to anyone else. This was a heavy handed approach. With a bit of commonsense, he could have waived the fines when he admitted that we were not trying to get away without paying.
