Very little of your time can be spent trying to play the actual game, with all the ads that pop up. And they’re timed ads, so there’s no way to click through them, even if you aren’t at all interested in what they’re selling or EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HAVE WHAT THEY'RE SELLING. I would urge even the most patient and tolerant person not to download this ap, since, even if you don’t mind walking away for a bit while these constant ads play, it seems like there’s a lot of background activity taking place, even while playing the game, causing delays when you’re trying to type your guesses, with huge lags between letters, sometimes even seeming to freeze entirely. I’m not a developer, but I do wonder what is occupying so much of Wordle ’s attention, after signing off on their user agreement and giving permission to god knows what information is being accessed. It’s so bad that it comes to a complete halt at times and crashes entirely. So bad, that I recommend deleting any app that appears to be associated with it, like the ones it advertises, one of which I had considered buying, but now most certainly will not. It the sign of a developer who lacks anything of value to offer, so survives on the sole project of extracting value from others by whatever means is necessary and however possible.

tl/dr: Wordle is way too expensive — especially the free version. Don’t do it.

Yet another fun phone game completely destroyed by the aggressive and bombardment of ads. This is probably the worst and most shameless in game advertising I’ve ever seen…and that’s saying something because every game has ads now a days.

Just to put it into perspective: let’s say you’re playing classic mode. In classic mode you have 6 guesses to find the 5 letter word. You can’t even type SIX words without 3 ad breaks. The ad breaks are twice as long as a round. If you’re going to have ads, okay…but WAIT UNTIL THE ROUND IS OVER. A round takes less than 5 min and the developers can’t even wait 2 and a half minutes before shoving another ad in your face. I’ll also thrown in that these ads are unskippable videos that blast the audio even if your phone is on silent. Pretty embarrassing if you’re playing at work or in public.

Absolutely shameless and unacceptable. This game and the incessant berating of ads has crashed & overheated my phone a handful of times. Deleting and highly recommending you don’t download. Don’t support greedy developers.

A message to the developers: have some respect for yourselves and make a game that you’re actually proud of rather than this slimy barrage of advertisements.

With a newby score of 27, so far, and 625 coins — and just about zero ads, as I went along? (Not sure how the score is derived) — I could be tempted to buy this heavily downloaded game.

Only, the blue “FF” — or “SKIP?” button is located in ‘THE’ absolutely worst place, immediately under the gray SUBMIT button? Who does that…?

Having no idea what it was, initially — seeing the circled ‘red’ three over it, as well as over the orange magnifying glass (HINT?”) and purple (???) buttons (each tucked out-of-the-way on the left); assuming the limits of three, each, mean for FREE? — twice, now, I’ve hit SKIP, vs. SUBMIT, frustratingly, ending my games most prematurely.

Nice copy of the original NYT version, but too unenjoyable, now, to have to try be SO very focused on where to place my thumb.

Just bypassing my second game, now, because of that — I did learn the real word IS shown but for a fleeting moment IF you’re fast enough to catch it before there’s a new game display — I’m assuming soon, each missed SUBMIT will start to consume my coins?

Then what? Then what happens when the coins are gone? Not good. Major flaw! Had to write. Dear developers, “What were you thinking?!”

Scrabble guy here and I have an extensive vocabulary. One of five sets of letters have legit words that are not accepted as such. Only one possibility seems to exist for each group of letters while another exists.

Also the volume does not work properly, you must use ringer volume instead of the correct volume control all other games use. This is problematic if you turn your volume down and as a result miss important notifications like calls. Clearly the programming is sloppy, but should not apple test the apps they vend? It’s got potential, it it absolutely cheats you by it’s arrogant ignorance. It also takes gall to launch a word game that has such a poor database of words. I blame apple as well as the creators.

Try again folks, you can do better. This is not worth the frustration.

The game, this app, itself is fun because it’s a logic pattern. However, the creators of Wordle went overboard on the advertisements. It’s ridiculous to be halfway into a game and suddenly have to watch a 30 second advertisement. Can’t the programmers set a condition/rule to wait until the round is done? The words begin to repeat themselves after about 100 games. Watch out for obnoxious words with double and even triple letters of the same. Lastly, the game is setup to only reward rounds won based on coins collected after the player has failed to “guess” the word. It’s not guessing when you use logic. I solved 49 in a row in 1 day in a couple hours. The better way to earn coins is to only win a few rounds in a row and then intentionally lose and then the algorithm feels sorry for you. Waste of time and I’ve deleted Wordle .

I downloaded this a couple weeks ago when this app (where you guess a word in 6 tries) got popular. Deleted once I saw it was a completely different app and the this app I was looking for was a website lol. I didn’t care about Wordle until today when I got an app for something that looked exactly like this app, but with a different font. I realized Wordle just added a feature called “6 guesses” that’s just hopping onto the trend and exploiting the fact that Wordle and the popular game happen to have to the same name. Someone put actual work into this app and now these app developers are straight up copying them! And Wordle store is just letting them. Ugh. UPDATE: I redownloaded Wordle and noticed the “6 Guesses” is now the “Classic” mode. CLASSIC. This game originally has you make as many words as you can with the letters given: now the original purpose is called “Word Fever” and they’re pretending like they’ve ALWAYS been this app, the 5-letter word guessing app. UGH.

This game came out 5 years ago is coincidentally named the same as the popular web game, but that’s were the similarities ended. The goal of this game was to quickly guess 4-6 letter words before the clock ran out. Pretty fun simple concept and a little stressful. I found myself playing it nonstop.

Then the developer realized he had a chance to make a fortune based on people looking for the this app game that has gone viral. Under the guise of a “Bug fixes.” update, Wordle was changed overnight to an ad infested game. It was now a chore to play the game.

Of course the developer added his own version of this app called “6 guesses” and now what made this game unique is lost. If you came here looking for gameplay similar to the online this app web app, you’ll find it, but be prepared to see an ad every 1-2 guesses. The only joy that this game provides is to the developer as I’m sure he’s making a killing. Congrats on winning the name lottery. For everyone else, stay away unless you love ads.

I am a inspector of apps like these and I decided to go over the privacy policy and the guidelines, now when you download it the terms of services immediately pop up giving you no chance but to click it. Of course this is normal but it’s kind of a bad choice because it gets normal users to just click agree and it will never show up again. Now as any non-normal person would do like me I read all of the guidelines and they were fine. Until I got to the privacy policy, turns out that if you hit agree then you are giving access to the creators to take every bit of information that they can find. Even taking it to 3rd party websites, not only will they take your IP address they will force you to make an account so they have your email address, your name, and your Facebook friends. Of course some of these are opinions but still some people would not be caring enough to just fill it out. Also there are way too many ads, so many that it’s aggravating. But that is all there really is, be careful about what you download and I hope you found this helpful.

This game is not the this app that you see people play and hear them talk about. Wordle could be fun if you didn’t get an ad EVERY SINGLE TIME you do ANYTHING. I tried to play this for a little while and the fact that for every 15 seconds of gameplay, you get a 15-30 second ad for a terrible game nobody wants, makes me sick. The only reason people are downloading this is because they don’t know that the real this app is a WEBSITE and not a MOBILE APP. At this point there are dozens and dozens of this app clones online that are 100x better than this freemium garbage. If you want to play normal this app, but more than once a day, please go look up “Wordguessr” online (it’s fun with no ads.) There are other versions that are much more enjoyable such as tridle, absurdle, squirdle, and more that I play and love. Whoever put this absolutely disgusting monstrosity of a game on Wordle Store, needs a good ol’ slap in the face. Get off your high horse and just reduce the number of ads, or change the name to something along the lines of “waste of time”

this is a fun concept, but it’s marred by a few glaring design oversights. the most major issue for me is the font- the stylized bubbly letters are very difficult to tell apart at times (particularly because they’re white letters on a pastel background) and that’s kind of a critical failure in a timed word-making game. it’s also intensely frustrating that you can’t reset your word by any means other than shaking the phone, which wastes a lot of time and is hit or miss in terms of whether or not it even works. you can also reset your word by completing it, but the letters don’t return to their original spots- they get placed in random spots. there is also a noticeable input lag, but that might be a result of my iphone 6S’s performance being crunched by apple as they breathe down my neck about upgrading, so i’d be curious to know if others with newer models encounter this issue. the last issue is the lackluster dictionary. many common words have been rejected and it makes for an incredibly frustrating play experience. overall, this game has a lot of potential, but in its current form, it’s not very fun.

Given the popularity of the daily this app in the NYT, Wordle could have easily rated five stars.... but the ridiculous manner in which the ads have been incorporated to generate revenue. this version of the game will quickly try the patience of even the most devoted this app fan. One ad is longer than 3 rounds of the game; they occur everywhere - even in the middle of a game. i can't imagine a more careless use of ads attempting to generate revenue. They're only going to cause people to abandon the game entirely and wait for the next better app to arrive.
Oh, and the paid version requires an overhaul as well.... unless you think people will continue paying the equivalent of $2-3 for 5 to 10 min of "gaming"..... good luck with that revenue modem as well.

My biggest issue with this is that there have been several times where it will not recognize a real word put in, so you still have to to figure out what words it will accept while the timer keeps going—- essentially cheating you and your score. For example, it’ll accept words like “cars” (or obviously scar) or gaff but don’t bother put in “roes” or “woes” because it’ll only recognize “rose” (or sore) or “owes.” 😒
If part of a game’s purpose is to put in as many words down as fast as you can, the game should really make sure to have an extensive vocabulary of words.
I still met the requirement to get to another level, but I was too annoyed by the flawed recognition that I barely bothered. I plan on deleting the game shortly.

Overall I enjoy the puzzles but the number of ads in this game is at least double most other games I play. Even hitting the back arrow to switch games will start an ad and then when you select another game another ad will immediately start. A new ad pops up randomly throughout game play. You could be trying to enter a guess and BAM another ad. Most word games play the ads between rounds so it doesn’t throw you off. Also, all of the ads are quite long and have an addition 10-15 wait time after the ad for the x to pop up allowing you to close it. Yes, I understand there’s no such thing as free but this is over top.
One other thing to note is I’ve been playing this game only a couple of days and already words have started to repeat.

I decided to try this app to improve my “letter” thinking; I’m a terrible speller and scrabble player, so this seemed good for me.
Unfortunately, the game uses a 15 second timer to control your gameplay. Not only are you supposed to use all three guesses within this time limit, ignoring how it rearranges the letters halfway through, the timer is a bright red/pink line that draws a close circle around the letters in the middle of the screen; you will notice it.
In fact the timer doesn’t even seem to restart between words, with the clock simply jumping back a few seconds and continuing on. So, this game is, how many words can you accurately guess from a changing letter shuffle in 15 seconds? Also, not this app. Some people may enjoy this set up, but I do not and it is not the game advertised.
Another problem to be aware of, no post-game ads that I have encountered have an “x” option; they are full screen and continuously refers you Wordle ads store purchase option. The only way to leave it is to reboot Wordle .

I enjoy this game but…Way too many ads and some are just ridiculously long to show more games?! Really?? Why do you have to have an ad after each entry even if we haven’t guessed the word yet? Also, you should have this game track our progress. When I leave the screen to check my email, texts, etc, I come back to start at 0 again. Definitely need to beef this up a bit. Maybe look at best practices from King games.
Do your app programmers every listen to music or podcasts while playing their own game? Can you not here all the bubbling, spinning and other annoying sounds? Give us basic control ON/OFF. Time to change my app if you can’t figure this out very soon!

It’s basically hangman without the entertainment of seeing the stick man get closer to being hanged with each wrong guess. There’s a game called secret word that quickly gets old because it quickly repeats the same words so you’re just repeating the same game endlessly. You get a free gift every day but it’s the kind of app that instead of just resetting every day, it resets according to the first time you open Wordle that day. So if you don’t play it all day until 10 at night one day, you have to wait until 10 PM the next day before the gift reappears. Also they have that annoying feature where you fill a piggy bank with correct answers and then you can buy it for a few dollars. You can’t just win free coins, you have to buy them. It’s cheaper than the regular price but I still feel like it’s a ripoff to “earn” a full piggy bank and then have to pay for it. I really don’t get what all the fuss is about. Overrated

Started playing this app for the first time this week. Downloaded Wordle , no tutorial or explanation of the rules pops up your first time.

Went online and found the rules - then started playing.

Wordle has annoying bugs that make it much less fun to play. I don’t know how many times I’ve been unable to even start games (because the keyboard doesn’t work; I type letters and nothing happens) or I have correctly guessed the word, but it doesn’t take me to the next one (I have to guess it again, then it acts like this guess counts and moves me forward.)

I’ve also run into the issue of guessing the word correctly on the last row, only to have it act like I missed the word and start my streak over at zero.

The ads are extremely annoying, unskippable, even when you do get an X to close them they either pretend you didn’t hit them or they take you to Wordle Store anyway like 5 times.

I’d probably “buy” the game if it worked properly, but honestly I refuse to give money to app developers who build apps like this (that don’t work AND are unenjoyable due to the aggressive and constant ads.)

Deleted Wordle already.

Here’s an idea, join the modern world and allow users to turn sound off so that ads don’t make a blaring sound even when your phone is on mute. The game forces you to turn sound all the way down to off. The problem is that you forget the sound is turned off when you’re done playing, then you end us missing calls/notifications. The most simple concept missed by the developers. Although, I don’t think they missed it. I think they don’t allow you to turn sound off for the sake of their advertisers. Booooo!!! I’m opting for one of their competitors that has the same game with better functionality.

I downloaded this game and wore myself out on it, so I offloaded Wordle . Initially, I purchased a package of coins and no ads because the ads are very annoying and often. Got bored and thought I would try again, but when I pressed restore purchase, which I assumed would remove the ads and not restore the coins because they were depleted, I have ads! A lot of them! How am I supposed to play and enjoy the challenge with a blinking ad banner on the screen and a long, unavoidable ad every two guesses and when the board changes? So, I will stick to the NY Times daily this app and am deleting this game entirely from my account. Good riddens. Thieves!

I’ve been playing Wordle for about 2 weeks and even paid the $2.99 to stop the ads. To be fair, I only get ads now if I want more coins, otherwise, the games all run ad free so the $2.99 is definitely worth it to me.

However, the powers that be need to work on their word lists. There are far too many plural words AND too many words with double letters such as loons (plural AND double vowel). It makes this a mere guessing game and not a true challenge. You can easily waste 2-3 word guesses and it’s just not fun. I’d much rather deduce a word like ‘hound’ or ‘globe’ than what I am getting with words like ‘doors’ or ‘moves’ or ‘moved’ (past tense). I have read the free ‘real’ version has yet to use plurals for this year 2022. Use challenging 5 letter words rather than plurals or verb tenses.

This is a basic game where you have six attempts to guess a word, and I find it pretty fun. I want to rate it higher, but there is absolutely no reason there should be an advertisement after every two guesses! Not to mention, the sheer amount of ads makes it actually beneficial to close and reopen the game every time one pops up. I understand wanting an ad after each round maybe, but not three per round, that’s absolutely obscene. There’s been multiple times that I would forget a word I was gonna guess because an ad popped up and took 15 seconds to close, and other times where the game straight up crashed because it couldn’t load an ad. Yes, you’re offering the game for free and that comes with ads, I get that, but at some point it’s infuriating and incentivizes the average person to delete your app in exchange for another, and considering this is a fairly common game of which multiple apps exist to play, I see zero reason to use your app over any of the others.

Do I write reviews… but I started seeing a lot more people were playing an old game revived by New York Times. Anyways, I like the fact that you can continue to play instead of one puzzle a day. What I dislike is that you cant share your puzzle winnings on Facebook with Wordle , yet the one a day website version you can share. Also, the ads are horrendous! If there is any way to cut back on them the game would be great, if and when they added on the other things I mentioned of course. I know there’s people out there dying and waiting for that 24 hour countdown. I can’t buy the premium version with no ads because I’m poor and still trying to pick up where the pandemic dropped me!! But hey I’ll take a $3 donation to my Apple ID!! 😂😂

I really loved this game but I am on the verge of deleting it. for some reason someone thought it was better to have an ad in between every guess than in between each game. I cannot make a guess without getting not only an ad, but a long one. even when I attempt to skip the ads, I have trouble because it won’t let me exit out.

I get why games have ads and all of that, but at the same time you’re ruining a game by putting so many at the worse times. if you really want to have so many ads, why not make players watch ads to skip a round and/or get hints? the ads can also be placed before starting a round and at the end of one.

based on the handful of reviews i’ve read, no one is asking for no ads they’re asking for less and better placement. it’s also ridiculous that so many reviews are complaining about the ads yet nothing is being done about them.

I do really enjoy Wordle. Each of the 3 games is really fun in itself.
I can't give 5 stars because the ads are overwhelming. Too many. You can turn on airplane mode to cut out the ads but then your scores from each game are pancaked giving you bigger scores than what you really earned. Not a huge deal to me.
Also the skip button (which you have to buy more if you run out or watch an ad for 3 free) is placed right under the enter button. I've accidentally hit the skip instead of the enter a couple of times. It's annoying and wastes a skip.
Move the skip button please!

this app improves my brain 🧠 It helps me to have a more wise time with things I might not know about with spelling. Even though my parents and brothers play it on Safari, Safari is NOT safe so Wordle is WAY better than an ordinary app. Wordle only has a small amount of adds witch people hate (just like gas prices am I right?) and try to ignore but there is such a minimum amount of ads I would play this all day long. It improves my mind and can improve yours too. This game is ✨AMAZING✨ I love how you can do the daily this app puzzle and if you already did the daily one, there’s a classic version and it’s just the regular guessing more than once if you’d like. Wordle also has the secret word which also is awesome, you just have to find the word that somehow has a connection with the other word above. The only thing I don’t like about the secret word is, that there aren’t many word connections, so I’ve memorized some of the patterns…😕 Also another part of Wordle is where you have to figure out what the word is using the letters you have, in a certain amount of time. This is an awesome feature and I have one recommendation, just a little more time, yet of course I’m a little younger so it’s just barely more difficult.

Wordle is fun, cool, amazing, and creative I definitely recommend it!! For all of the word puzzle people out there you would absolutely love this game.

I love and have always enjoyed playing word games and this app I love learning new words but the ads are really annoying and Apple has gotten very greedy I really wish they could have ad removal for free because some people aren’t able to afford it or pay for it I really wish Apple could understand that some people playing this have disabilities or something that makes them unable to pay for the Xtra stuff it would be so much better with out the ads or at least remove them free I enjoy this app and all word games and learning new I have autism and these amazing word games helped me learn a new vocabulary it’s awesome!💕💕👏👏I always thank god for these amazing learning games!

this app is great! There are not as much ads as the other reviews say and even if you don’t get the word you still get a coin. You get to play more than one time a day, though there is still the daily challenge puzzle. I am addicted. If you don’t know how to play, you type a word into the 5 boxes (a five letter word) and if it is gray, the final word doesn’t have that letter. If it is yellow, it is in the final word, but not in the right place. If it is green, it is in the right place for the final word. There is also instructions in Wordle . Back to the ads. There are almost no ads. I get an ad every 5-8 games. You can spend coins on hints. This version of this app is the best!

I enjoy the game, but agree there are too many ads and some of them recently are very leud and suggestive sexually! I’m deleting my game!

I started with the NYT version which allows you to play free daily with no ads. The game itself has gotten a little boring since it relies mostly on luck, about 90% I guesstimate. Vocabulary, logic and intelligence, again I guess, make up the last 10%. Afterall how much of that do you need when dealing with 5 letter words? The killer for me when, fairly recently, I used "ASTER" for my first guess which resulted in "a_TER". Since the yellow "a" could belong nowhere other than the second letter, I had "_ATER" and my first legitimate chance at solving on the second guess. That was until I realized there were six words to consider and only 5 guesses. Time to eliminate the least likely, In order, dater, hater and eater. My selections in order were water, later and cater. My hopes were dashed when "water" was eliminated and later when "later" and "cater" were eliminated. That left me with two guesses and 3 words. "Eater" went down in flames leaving me with only "hater" and "dater" and I wasn't even sure that "dater" would even be a target word. On the other hand, "hater" didn't seem to be a word you would want to start your day off with, assuming most wordlers started their days with breakfast and wordle. Also I thought, if I entered a non-word, it probably wouldn't be accepted. Wrong! It was accepted but not as the target word... "hater" was! I was not disappointed since it actually added substance to my opinion that wordle required about as much skill as it takes to win at BINGO. But upon reflection, I realized the NYT is little more than a voice for the far left and a supporter of woke hate ideology. "Hater" should have been my second guess.

Help! My Wordle had problem last night. I My time to refresh was midnight but it went blank at 7pm . Today I played with no problem but it has now vanished snd my streak disappeared . It lists 0 played .
