The Meal service and quality are excellent!

We have been using this service for almost 2 months now. The food is super fresh, the instructions are step by step, with pictures, and it is easy to edit your future deliveries on their website. They include everything except salt, pepper, and oil for almost every meal. We have only had to add an egg to one and butter to another. That is all you can ask for when it is being shipped, we think. My husband enjoys them as much as I do and cooks a lot more now.
We have tried others and this is, by far, our favorite! I just downloaded MarleySpoon and it works great! For those that want to see everything prior to committing a credit card, most apps require this before they give you their information. You can always cancel after looking. That is not a valid excuse to slam MarleySpoon or business.

Customer service??

First, it was irritating I had to give credit card info and pick a date of delivery without even getting to see the recipes of that week. But I did. I got a charge right away... I didn’t think a whole lot of it. Then a couple days before my schedule delivery, I got another charge, then an email saying my order was on its way, then another email saying there was a mix up with the charges, I was being refunded one of them, but I should still expect my first box. Then an email saying my first box was cancelled. Box never came. So I emailed them to make sure I was being refunded both charges. Then I tried to cancel my account, but it gave me one more delivery before then that I didn’t want. So I emailed again and told them I don’t want that last delivery, so please cancel it. Someone emailed back, he had no idea what was going on. Didn’t even acknowledge the first delivery that never showed up, but said he cancelled the last one. After several emails back and forth, he sent one last really snippy one saying he explained it all already (No Felix, you didn’t). So I’m just praying I get both charges refunded and they didn’t charge me for anything else.

App Updates are not user friendly

When we first started, MarleySpoon had the recipe options scroll up and down. You could see the entire title in one place. Now with the scrolling left to right, you have to click on every single recipe to open it to see what the sides are, because they are cut off. This new update has the tags like “kid friendly” in the same font as the sides, and it is confusing. I also hate when programmers use light gray, thin fonts, which are tough to read for some people.
To rate recipes, you have to “cook” it in MarleySpoon . Since we use the recipe cards, this is an extra pain. None of the navigation is intuitive. The only thing I like is that it is very easy to see the price you are paying each week, unlike all the other meal apps.
We’ve had some issues with our food being missing or in poor quality as well, but it was about the same as other meal plans, although I hadn’t tried contacting customer service - based on the other reviews, it probably didn’t matter.

Meals are great; poor quality ingredients; terrible customer service

I have been receiving Marley Spoon for over a year. There have been various times that the ingredients have been spoiled or are missing portions. I chalked this up to increased demand during the pandemic but recently the customer service has been abhorrent. They have shown almost no improvement in 5 months but are raising prices. The reps take 2-4 weeks to respond (or ignore your email altogether) and when they do respond, they haven’t properly looked into your account. My box was missing everything except for the protein but they only refunded me $5. I was missing 4 portions of a meal and when they finally responded 2 weeks later, they said my plan is for only 2 portions. It clearly indicates that in my delivery for that week, I had ordered 4 portions of two of the meals. There is no rush for a request like this but if you are taking so long to respond, at least put in the effort to actually take a look at my account. Great ideas, great recipes, poorly executed.

Delivery Bad, Ingredients Cut Corners

I tried Marley Spoon a year ago and never got the delivery. It took a week to get a response and the agent just seemed confused. One year later, after the fall of the much beloved Plated, I decided to give Marley another go.
The customer service is much improved and the menu selection is decent, but they can’t get on top of deliveries or correct compensation. I get a shipment 2 days late (not safe to eat) then the following week you send me an email the evening before that you have to cancel this weeks order. I know these are rough times but when it comes to groceries, you’re really putting your customers through the ringer with this. Just suspend your service or give more lead time.
Even that aside, you better have more ingredients on hand because MS does not send sugar, milk, cream, eggs, and some other items that other meal kits include for the same price.
The green(er) packaging is a nice touch but They need to figure out how to ship carrots and potatoes without arriving soft nor tomatoes smashed.

Amazing recipes

The food is so good. We have tried BlueApron, Home Chef, Yumble, Sun Basket, etc. this has hands down been our favorite meal kit. The portions are large enough and the quality of the food is generally great. Carrots and green onions have come wilted a couple of times. The variety is fantastic. We have enjoyed Asian inspired meals, Hispanic recipes, etc. and we have been surprised how much we like the recipes. Even the ones we were skeptical about turned out good. I think my husband has liked all of the recipes and there were two I thought were okay after using for a few of months. This is much better than some other plans we have tried. MarleySpoon shows all the recipes and you can skip weeks, etc. have had no problems in that realm so far. Try them out!

Great service and great app

I’ve loved The variety, flexibility, and ease of use of both MarleySpoon and the service itself. I’m an avid cook but I get weary of coming up with new meals for weeknights all the time.
Clean up is a breeze given the portioning of the ingredients and their thoughtful and simple recipes.
We’ve been customers now for more than 4 years, cooking most weeks 4-5 recipes, and it’s certainly enough food most nights for my family of 4; when our au pair eats with us I simply buy more protein to go with the meals chosen.
I could live without Marley spoon of course; but our life is so much better with it!
(Also, I know it’s not main focus is health, but we’ve all lost weight over the years using it. The recipes can be this side of healthy, which is a plus)

Love the service, disappointing app

I really like the Marley Spoon Meal kits, there are a lot of choices and I can always find some I’m interested in. Those that I try I’ve enjoyed. Some are outstanding and I’ll always reorder when they appear again. Never had something I didn’t like at all. It would be nice if you could choose 3 servings instead of 2 or 4.

They recently reworked MarleySpoon and took away some basic features, namely “favoriting” recipes so you could bookmark them for later reference, and rating recipes in-app. Now you have to go to the website in order to rate recipes. I can’t even see which recipes I’d favorited before the change. This is mainly why I’ve rated it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5.

I would love it if they returned these features, and would revise my rating. I would be even happier if you could download the recipes to a recipe app like RecipeKeeper.

Awesome

As a working mom I have tried almost every meal delivery service out there. I can say that this is consistently giving us meals that the entire family likes every week. I hear very little complaints from my younger children and it’s still providing them with a wide variety of good food. I absolutely never write reviews or rate a service. But I’ve been so happy with what I’ve received I thought I’d put it out there. It does require that you have a few more things around the house than some of the other services. But they send you an email ahead of time so you know what you have to have. And it’s typically stuff that you would have anyway. Very happy with the meals and the price very competitive.

My first meal delicious!

I prepared my first Martha and Marley spoon meal tonight, I was a bit apprehensive..I wasn’t a big fan of a couple of the ingredients..but turns out the entire meal was scrumptious!

I will say I received an email saying my meal would arrive on Tuesday but it did not come until Wednesday late afternoon..and was delivered next door to my moms house, which was fine..

I am sure I found a way to view my meal choices before putting in my payment info, or I would not have ordered! I don’t remember the specifics now but I can’t imagine ordering without seeing choices.

Since I am new to this I didn’t remember that 3 more meals are being sent out to be here by Tuesday next week and I didn’t realize that until I read one of the emails just tonight that says I have til YESTERDAYs date to change meal selections...so I will call ASAP tomorrow and see if I can postpone next weeks order as I won’t have time to finish cooking and eating my first order by then!

Finally, I will say I did not know about the less expensive Marley Spoon option of
“Dinnerly” when I ordered this one, so I do want to try that one to save money.

Glad I tried it!
Melanie.....

Better than any other

Hands down best meal kit on the market if you like flavor and variety. 95% of meals are fantastic. 4% are good. 1% are fine, I’ll eat it but it’s not something I would ever make again. While not necessarily quick, the meals are very easy to make. I use my air fryer for a lot of the meals to save time and/or calories. I have tried many meal kits, prepared and cook your own, this is head and shoulders above the competition as well as one of the least expensive. (6meals/week for 2 ppl) Something exceptional would have to come to market before I would even consider leaving Marley Spoon. Martha’s done it again!

Martha boxes have been a spark of light

No one can argue that the past year and a half have been an awful time. One spark of joy has been the delivery of our weekly bright yellow box. The recipes are varied and interesting enough that we recreate many of them on our own. The instructions are well written and ready to follow. The ingredients are high quality. When we’ve received the occasional wilted veggie, customer service is quick to make it right. Martha has brought my kitchen witch back to life- I’m cooking with joy again. Thank you to Martha, Marley and the team.

Poor customer service

This makes me sad to have to post. We absolutely love the meals and the quality, but... we’ve only had this meal kit service for about a month and our delivery day is suppose to be Tuesdays. It’s actually came on a Tuesday once. We never had this problem with home chef in the year we used them. We switched because we had tried everything. We’ve received the wrong instruction card on several occasions and been without several ingredients a couple times. I emailed and it took TWO weeks for a response in which they offered $15 dollars credit. I really just want them to get their stuff together. Like i said, we love the food and the choice but they have some work to do for sure.

Great features in app, please bring back favorites!

MarleySpoon is overall great for ordering future meals. The recent update has largely improved this. However, they have recently taken out the “favorited” recipe feature. You used to be able to look at ALL recipes and favorite these even if you had not ordered them, along with your past boxes. I really miss this feature, which made up for the few times of forgotten ingredients in my box (which were always well compensated, just an inconvenience). Food is overall tasty, and vegetarian options are one of the best, especially if you prefer not to have the “plant-based” processed meats every night.

Delivery stinks, recipes are meh

I have tried several meal delivery kits and this one is the pits.

First- delivery issues. first weeks box didn’t ever come. I looked it up on the delivery date and that’s when I noticed that they say the box will come sometime between 8am & 11pm. I see. So much for depending on these guys to help me get dinner on the table on delivery day.

Second- bad customer service. I submitted a form in MarleySpoon that no one responded to. I called and got “we’ll give you an account credit.” Next weeks box? Was >24 hours late. A full day. I called and said why is this happening, and how come I’m not getting notified that my box will be a FULL day late?! Account was credited but still no answer as to why im having these issues. When I canceled after 3 strikes, they...credited my account so I had to call and say no. Money back in my account.

Third- the food is just meh at best. For Martha Stewart I expect yum & high quality. This was average internet /Applebee’s recipes, not anything to write home about, nothing creative to get us out of a cooking rut. And the ingredients? They sent a tiny snack-size cheese for me to dice to top a recipe. Why not just shredded cheese??

I miss plated!! Will be trying sunbasket next.

Terrible quality and customer service

Horrible customer service. Difficult to get ahold of anyone to actually resolve problems and they make you jump through hoops to even have something addressed. The shipping is horrendous with boxes almost ALWAYS arriving late despite what the tracking says. And customer service is not helpful at all when resolving those problems, and all they tell you is as long as the meat is still “cool to the touch” you’ll be okay. The items always arrive damaged, dirty or close to being spoiled. The meal ideas are very creative and great, don’t get me wrong, but the hassle of everything else is making this not worth it. I originally switched over from HelloFresh because I was getting tired of the recipes, but their customer service is stupendous in comparison. I will be going back to HelloFresh.

Convenient and fairy cost efficient!

TodayI love it I went to three grocery stores and I ended up spending $163 for one weeks full of groceries and no meals like the meals this Martha Stewart app afford if I tried that would’ve been at least two to $300 and I’m getting five mils a day for two people I just simply cannot do that with my grocery stores around here so thank you very very much for having us and having it in my area way to go you guys

Poor produce and shipping/handling

Every box without fail has at least one piece of produce that is wilted , brown, moldy or otherwise spoiled. The items do not look or feel fresh . In addition , frequently a dairy item or other packaged product has arrived broken with stuff spilled everywhere . My last two boxes have been 3 days late with the ice packs completely melted and everything room temperature . At first they wanted to refund me for only the meat products but the whole point of why we are paying a premium is so that we have something preportioned and do not need to go to the store to cook the recipes . Customer service responds at a snails pace, probably because they are getting so many complaints . And they are overpriced. Canceled our subscription .

Bad customer service

I’ve tried several food boxes before and whenever there is a problem others were quick to compensate for the inconveniences.
After several late arrivals always the day after the scheduled day. I was compensated for shipping…
When the late arrivals continued and after a few incorrect items in my box continued I was comped for the price of a order box. I only figured that out after ordering the next box that I was only compensated for the price of the late box before hand and I still had to pay the remainder. That’s fine expect no one told me that and no one cared.
The fact of the matter is, they don’t care they make enough money off of us so they don’t have to care if you decide to cancel.

So disappointing

Upon looking at these other reviews, I see that I am not alone in my horrible experiences with this service. It’s so disappointing that the quality assurance and customer service are so terrible because I really love the recipes! Many of the meals have made it into my regular rotation, and I’m pretty bummed to have to end my subscription, but nearly every box I’ve received in the last several months has had major issues. I’m just done with coming home to a delivery only to be unable to cook the meals because of some screw up. I hope that they figure out how to run a reputable company with the customers at the center of it because I’d be happy to restart my subscription if I am actually able to make the meals I order!

App works well. Martha & Snoop make great, albeit unlikely team....

...but, like other reviewers have pointed out, not seeing recipes, or current meals offered, without giving credit card info., and paying for first delivery, is extremely disappointing. I’m eager to give Martha and Marley Spoon a try. I’ll check back once or twice more (with fingers crossed) to see if this problem has been resolved. If not, I’ll move on. I’m sure this will be the case with most potential customers. No one wants to give their credit card info., and pay for something, that they haven’t tried, can’t see, etc. That said, MarleySpoon ’s functionality and ease of use are seemingly top-notch. NOTE: I tried accessing menus via link/home page as was recommended to previous reviewer. I had no luck. Nonetheless, congrats to the developer of MarleySpoon for a job well done. It’s a shame MarleySpoon ’s reviews seem to reflect user’s complete dismay with the setup of the meal service, specifically that it requires payment without providing menus, sample meals, etc., and not MarleySpoon itself. MarleySpoon deserves five stars. The meal service is what’s lacking here.

Worst. Of my Meal Kit experiences

My wife and I went on a meal kit blitz, trying 4-5 of the major meal kits out there. Of all the kits we tried Marley Spoon was the worst experience. Our box came partially untapped/open like a five year old had done the tape job. Some of the produce looked wilted/bad so my wife had to buy produce to replace that produce. Worst of all we were missing key ingredients for one of our recipes. I reached out to customer service and instead of refunding us for the recipe we couldn’t make, they gave us a tiny $5 credit. Gee...thanks.

Again, I’m comparing Marley Spoon to all the other lots we tried and it was the only one that gave us any issues. They need to work on their quality.

Don’t want customers!

In MarleySpoon and the website both you have to sign up and pay for a weeks meals before they even let you see what kind of food they even offer! It’s the most messed up stupid idiot idea I have ever seen. Got to wonder. I bet they easily lose 8 of 10 website visitors because of that boneheaded move. And the pop up that’s on your face that ska you to subscribe to their email if you don’t want to order now, just s stupid. They need to fire the person that thought any of that was a good idea. Written by another lost potential customer who found a service that actually let us see what they offered before ordering!

By

Worst meal box ever!

I am so disappointed marley spoon is the worst subscription box I have ever received. It was missing all the main ingredients I’m only able to make one meal & all they credited me was per item! Ridiculous! Blue apron or green chef would have sent me a whole new box! Or credited me for the next one. You should really do better quality control when packing items to be sent. When we order these boxes we are excited to get home from work and make a pre put together nutritious meal! Thanks for nothing! Oh and BTW the produce looks like it was picked from the bottom bin at the discount super market!
I will be passing this on to everyone I know.

Who delivers

Let me start by saying the food is amazing! But half of the time you never get it. Did receive a refund but they made the next box free. I’ve been with them a month and only received 2 orders, they are suppose to come every Monday. On top of that the person who delivers never knocks on my door they just leave it out in the driveway in the heat. Plus it’s even more sketchy that the person who delivers the food in in their on personal vehicle and I have no way of contacting them. I feel this could be something great if they chose a different delivery service.

By

Good food, horrible service

I had high hopes with this service, but I am very disappointed with the service. The food, if it comes, and is complete, taste great and my family loves most meals. That being said, their delivery is always late by a day or two or didn’t come at all. And on several occasions the protein was missing. Not convenient at all if I still have to go shopping for missing items or order out food if the food doesn’t come. I live in Connecticut, Martha’s home state and they still can’t get it right. I will be looking somewhere else for my food deliveries.

By

App is for existing customers to edit orders

This bad reviews are not relevant to MarleySpoon at all. MarleySpoon is for pre established meal box subscribers to adjust the weekly meal recipes. I find MarleySpoon easy to use and very well done.

To the other review that says you have to sign up to review the recipes, you can go to the website and click current recipes to see the recipes for upcoming weeks...

Five Stars if the order QC was better

First, the food is yummy. Would recommend. The steps are easy, the cooking is simple.

Second, I would be happy to come work for you and show you how to pull complete orders, instead of missing random ingredients, or entire sections of the pull, like missing the all the cold dairy, or some of the produce.

If you can get the warehouse side down, the ratings would improve. Because the food is great.

First order -No delivery

I was excited to try this cooking meal with my daughter. She is learning to cook and quite the chef. We are both highly disappointed. We waited until 9pm last night and did not receive our package. I called this morning and was told “the driver was nearby”. 3 hours later I still have not received my package. I am cautious about continuing with this company as I have been lied to and I still have not received my box.

Fast forward to this week and we were missing items from our meals. Plus, we received 2 incorrect recipe cards.

Completely dissatisfied.

Sends boxes that I did not order

I canceled my membership over 2 years ago. The food was ok, most the time the wrong dish would be sent or it would be missing an item. It became too much of a hassle so I canceled. I got an email today saying my package will be delivered tomorrow. I have not went on MarleySpoon , I have not renewed anything and today was the first email I have received since 2017. I spoke to customer service and apparently there is nothing they can do, no refund and I am stuck with 3 dishes that I would never eat. Now I am updating all my passwords bc it appears they have been hacked.

By

First box - so far, so good!

I have to say, I was VERY hesitant I try this! I originally liked hello fresh but got bored after a few months. I hope they keep up
The unique dishes and good quality. So far with this one, my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. Tonight we had the Moroccan tagine and couscous and it was amazing! I had to add more spice (I love spice!), but the dish was anything but bland.
