Exactly what I’ve been searching for

Let me start off my saying I NEVER buy apps that are over $0.99. At first I thought I wasted ten dollars, but once I figured out the settings I was able to utilize GoodTask exactly the way I wanted to. My husband and I share family iOS reminders and calendars, but I wanted something more comprehensive for subtasks, and mainly recurring events so I could check off habits throughout the day without having to uncheck a full list every morning. But I also didn’t want to disturb his process and make him download a new app. The other thing I wanted was a place where I could see my calendar events and tasks all in one place, and once I figured out that I could turn off “separate calendar events,” all my boxes were checked. The smart lists were a bonus, as I didn’t understand when I bought it just how customizable they were. I have smart lists for every vantage point that I normally had to manually search in the native iOS app, and I feel like even though there was a little learning curve, it’s going to save me so much time moving forward.

Brilliant in so many ways!!

Like most of you who are taking the time to read this, I’ve spent a small fortune over the years buying every single todo app on the market. No, really... name one, any one, and I guarantee you I’ve bought it. Some of them are better at certain things than others, and that will always be the case, but this app is the one that continually stands above them all for me.

It’s one of those apps that constantly — and I do mean constantly — surprises me with extra features I had no idea it had. I’m still discovering amazing things, even after almost a year of using it every single day. I’ll often find myself wishing that it could do a particular thing, and to my surprise, an option to make that happen has existed all along... I just didn’t look deep enough. I spent almost 30 years developing software, and seriously, the level of detailed thought that this developer has put into how to make GoodTask do things is off the charts. I’m very impressed!

Five stars from me. I highly recommend GoodTask to everyone!

Awesome capabilities & support

this app is an amazing adjunct to Apple’s Reminders. The capabilities the developer has managed in include are amazing, and the UI is spot-on, and it’s for this reason that I find myself using this app often when I previously would have used a full blown Project Management system, and I have all the major players installed on my devices, and many of the minor ones... Capabilities in an app aren’t of much benefit if it requires 3, 4 or even more taps/swipes to get to them, so it’s a lot better to get something you need to remember into a system that you can rely on and know that by the time you get it entered, you won’t have forgotten the other stuff on your mind.

GoodTask’s support is also as good as you can get. Replies are not only prompt, but never like the “we don’t do it that way, and you don’t understand because you’re not as smart as we are” ones you frequently get when you make suggestions to the big players in the Task & Project Management apps space...

GoodTask has been life changing

Not only is this my favorite app on my phone, it is probably the single most important tool in my life.

I was a heavy reminders user already as I have real trouble remembering things, but I had never found a solution that suited my needs nearly as well as this app. The customization allowed me to basically turn GoodTask into exactly what I needed. I am a developer as well and had been considering building my own task manager, but with this app there is no need.

GoodTask is complicated and not for the casual reminders user. Reminders is GoodTask for that. But if you have 100s of reminders across several lists or need lists that combine, filter, and sort other lists then GoodTask has the perfect level of complexity. Spend the 5 minutes to customize your task view and quick actions and never look back.

Exactly what I wanted

GoodTask is exactly what I wanted: It builds on top of iOS Reminders, so you can still natively use Siri, but it also enables features like Due Date (which Apple has inexplicably removed from Reminders, even though the functionality is still there on the backend). And it integrates with Outlook, so you can manage both personal Reminders and work Tasks from a single app (since the Outlook iOS app doesn't allow you to manage your Tasks).

I've never written a review for an app before, but honestly my love for this app 3 knows no bounds. A streamlined task management system is absolutely crucial for any professional in the modern age, and the integration of GoodTask into my personal Getting Things Done system has dramatically improved my productivity. I have the Pro version, and it might be the best $5 I've ever spent.

Good before iOS 13

I bought GoodTask 2 weeks before the new iOS 13 update came out and I loved the flexibility and additional features which iOS reminders did not have. Unfortunately with iOS 13 GoodTask is rendered pretty much useless. I contacted the developer and the answer was “performance issues” and it gets “a little better” with iOS 13.1. The interim solution was for me to not use all my reminders lists (not a solution). Well I can say now that even with 13.1 update it is still basically useless and there is no firm plan on when they are going to resolve the problem. I rarely spend $10 on an app and now I feel like I was ripped off. Don’t waste your money on this until they have fixed the issues with iOS 13.

UPDATE: At this point now 3 weeks later GoodTask is still useless. My only option is to go back to Todoist which is a far superior app anyway, I just didn’t want to pay the $30 annual fee. I guess you get what you pay for. Wish the developer would give credit to those like me who unknowingly bought an app which was going to become worthless a few days later.

Impressive

I have spent a couple of days with GoodTask and so far I mostly like it. I have used TD, Things, and multiple other tools trying to get the right flow and fit. I enjoy paper and pen (analog) as much as digital. I am constantly trying to improve upon both from a productivity and efficiency standpoint. The verdict is still out for GT but so far I like the complete freedom to create the flow that fits my needs. The one thing I am seeing is the UI is not as crisp as some of the other apps named above but GT offers so many options that it’s hard not to find something you don’t like. However, I really don’t like how ‘large’ the image of imprint shows up when using a URL to attach or paste in the notes section. Is there a fix or work around for this??
Thank you for taking the time to continue to create and improve GoodTask. I hope it keeps getting better!

If you like Apple Reminders but want more from it, this is the app you NEED

I’m pretty sure this is the most underrated task management app out there. I love many of the features Apple Reminders offers, but need more than its UI gives us. this app solves this problem.

this app is a highly-customizable GTD app that uses Reminders as a database. this app effectively sits on top of Reminders, leveraging the features that Reminders has but layering on a lot more. this app and Reminders sync effortlessly and I’ve had no trouble using both apps together (this app makes this really easy, allowing you to open up any task Reminders if you want). But most of my day is spent in this app, both on my iPhone and Mac.

I’ve customized this app to resemble a GTD approach, using smartlists, default inbox, and tags.

I really like the quick actions and theme maker. Anything I can do to make an app more in line with my preferences is appreciated.

If you love Reminders but still don’t like the interface or lack of customization options, or just want some additional features, this app is GoodTask for you. It also ensures that you’re not uploading your tasks and info to some random database, as everything is managed in iCloud.

This developer has done some amazing work.

An amazing and great task manager...but

This is clean, simple and complete. It uses the built in reminders for its storage and syncing. This is the one issue. Apple reminders syncs with iCloud. It’s sync is not fast. OmniFocus and Things succeed because they have built their own syncing solution. Today I created a new folder and put some tasks in it, on my iPhone. After 30 minutes these tasks were not on my iPad or iMac. After a few stops and starts the reminders finally propagated.

So this is not the solution for me, although it looks great, works great but the syncing and storage is the one weakness.

So GoodTask gets 5 stars because GoodTask is doing everything right. However reminders will change in IOS 12 and people must wait for GoodTask to catch up. So I cannot trust my data to this.

I like it a lot but...

I really wish I didn’t have to be forced into paying for the full version upon the latest update. The new update brought the 14 day free trial and since I had been using GoodTask free way before that it just flat out stopped me from using it upon updating. I don’t appreciate the feeling of being forced to do that especially so immediately (maybe I could have had a chance to take the new free trial so I had time to think about it). It happened when I needed it for projects I was working on and hindered that for me. But I really enjoy the interface and I have appreciated the consistent updates so as long as GoodTask does what I need it to and stays good like I feel it has been, I’m alright paying and will rate 5 stars.

A Combination of Calendar & Reminders that’s More Elegant

GoodTask is a combination of the native calendar app and the native reminders app. It’s more elegant, however. It’s also more powerful. You can add reminders. You can add new reminder lists. You can add calendar events. You can edit the colors of the native calendars. You can create smart lists that integrate only selected calendars with selected reminders list in all kinds of combinations. You can make smart lists that also filter according to date/time frame, priority, or tag. And, because it leveraged the native Apple applications, it works wonderfully with Siri. The developers are responsive and helpful. And there are regular improvements and updates.

GET THIS ONE

I have left a total of probably three app reviews in my life, including this one. That’s how compelled I felt to write this. I am obsessed with to-do apps that combine with calendars so I can time things out and also works with tags so I can sort them. I’ve used Todoist, BusyCal, fantastical, reminders, anydo and several other paid and free options. This is the only one that has checked every single box for me, and it has gotten consistently better with each update. (Today, I wanted to view things differently and stumbled upon a super simple way to toggle the view to horizontal over vertical lists.) Love the developers. So many features packed into one awesome app.

Not quite there yet

In the never ending search for the end all task manager I can add this one to a close but no cigar attempt. After using this for 3 months there are bugs that have persisted since day 1 and the UX for me has been tepid at best. I found the Quick Actions a little overwhelming at first. And while I love the idea behind the smart lists and color coded categories, the inconsistency of uncompleted tasks, refresh issues, and syncing between devices has forced me to move on continue my search. The price is also arguably high. For what GoodTask offers I’d say $10 is a bit much, let alone the cost for iPad and MacOS versions as well.

In short I would definitely maximize the trial period and really dissect GoodTask to make sure it fits your daily needs before you pull the trigger. GoodTask has good intentions but is plagued with bugs and a clunky design.

This is THE ONE

I started my search for the Task, Calendar, Project Management app that did everything (and seemingly didn’t exist), about a year ago. I’ve spend hundreds of dollars trying to connect different apps to do what I needed and eventually I had a meltdown yesterday. In a last ditch attempt, I went on Reddit and someone mentioned this app, so what did I have to lose? It. Does. Everything! It has the option to turn tasks into events, it has a beautiful UI, it works with my Apple Watch… I’m stunned. It has customization features I would have eventually figured out I needed! I’m in love. Thank you a thousand times for creating this perfect app! I couldn’t be happier.

Unbelievable!

I wish I could give GoodTask 10 stars! I rarely ever write app reviews, but for this one, I must.

For years I have been looking for the “perfect” Task Manager. I have tried almost all of them, and I have found some small and large idiosyncrasies with every one of them. None of them seemed to “do it all”.

Until now! My search is over.

this app is amazing. It is incredibly customizable, and does absolutely everything that I need. It is so much better than every other Task Manager I have looked at and used. I cannot even begin to explain all its virtues. It seems like every day I find something else to like about it.

And what is more, the customer support goes beyond all my expectations. I had a couple of questions after I downloaded it and started walking through all the settings and customizations. They answered almost immediately with just the information I needed. Unlike so many other companies, it was clear that they were really looking at and thinking about my questions.

I could not be more impressed. BUY IT! You will not be sorry!

More than an APP, more like an O/S... Incredible & yet still very new!

I too echo the sentiments of your many other Advocate Reviewers... Like so many other users, we have also tried almost every Version of this type of App. So far None come even close to the Clarity,Simplicity & Practical Ease of use built into & throughout the remarkably logical order & efficiency you find with “Good Task”. Cannot wait to see what other enhancements & excellent new products your Company will have to offer going forward... In honor of your loyal commitment to the future of your products, I have elected to become a Loyal Subscriber to your Services! Keep up the Excellent Work! J. Stephen G.

Exactly what I was looking for

The “biggies” in this space are way overkill for me so I am thrilled to find something which does exactly what I need and no more which is just a way to have a few daily, dated and timed tasks together with a whole bunch of other stuff I need to do in the future at some point. I found that any other more fancy system just falls apart as I’m not going to follow it. So, this is perfect for me.

It’s not a huge deal but I am having a problem with tasks not showing up on my Siri watch face but I’ve had that problem with every task manager that I’ve used. T he nice thing about GoodTask is that Reminders to show up so that’s perfect again.

Keep up the good work!

Best In Class

I’ve been searching for a todo/reminders app that fits my needs for a couple years now and I’ve tried all the top rated apps Wunderlist,Anydo,Evernote, etc. I read about this app a couple months ago and decided what the heck may as well give it a shot, best decision I’ve made in the reminders dept. GoodTask only charges $10 one time so no annual fees which in itself is a bargain for what you get. The list of features is pretty much self explanatory but they recent added programmable dark mode, I can say enough of how awesome that is to have since Apple refuses to give integrated dark mode yet. I’m mainly posting to give a nod to the developers, excellent job keep the upgrades coming.

YESSS!!!! FINALLY!!!!

I’ve literally been looking for this since I started trying to find a good task based app for three years!
Never tried this one, it’s perfect. I finally have tasks, calendar, and to dos in ONE PLACE!!!
It drives me crazy to fill out calendar events in iOS or google based calendars/apps, write notes and tasks/to do lists in iOS notes, and reminders in iOS reminders! It drives me crazy to not have a simple, central based hub where I can just get an overall look at everything in my day!!! 😡
GoodTask is IT!!! Thank god!!! Don’t change a thing- it’s perfect!
-well, maybe not perfect, perfect but, man... Close enough! Thank you!
I would like the ability to attach pdf’s and URL’s from emails~ whatever, not a make it or break it for me. ORRRR, maybe email too? 😮
The only real thing I think needs addressed is when adding a task it doesn’t allow you to edit the details right away, you have to give it a name then go find it and add the particulars after, but, like I said a minor thing compared to the overall convenience of this planner.
Awesome app!

👍🏻 great for making the best use of Reminders

I really enjoy the power features GoodTask brings to the table. Unlike the built-in Reminders app, this app allows you to create “Smart Lists” based on just about any criteria you want to specify. I use it to view my tasks based on importance first (!!!, !!, !), then urgency (due date) – following the ideas behind the Eisenhower Matrix.

My primary concern is that GoodTask sometimes gets “stuck” showing me old data, usually if I’ve made changes on another device. No amount of in-app refreshing fixes the problem, I have to force-quit this app to get it to show me the changes. Not a big deal when I *know* I’ve made changes elsewhere, but a problem if I end up working on stale data!
