Quite good but could be better!!

2024-11-16

This this app app has been an awesome investment for me. The accessibility to student information and safety warning when WarnMe isn’t working had been a lifesaver! It’s not just an app for student problems but also an avenue of entertainment, so it has been a wonderful experience! One thing that could be worked on is the messaging system in-app. It’s difficult to tell when someone has messaged you and therefore makes communicating hard with other this app users and in the end I had to provide my contact information so that our deal could be carried out and that was a little inconvenient. One more thing, the picture quality was appalling! I had sent photos in-app but the pixelation turns my pictures unintelligible! Over all, Wildfire is great and provides students with may opportunities and fun, but I would love Wildfire even more if the messaging system and photo pixelation was improved!

Pretty good, but needs tuning

2024-11-16

I got Wildfire about a week ago and it is pretty fun, especially if you’re in a university. It’s almost like a successor to Yik Yak. From what I’ve seen the people on my campus are quite charming and funny, and it is useful to be alerted on certain issues as soon as they arise (that is, if they aren’t flat out lies). The addition of multiple categories to post to aside from standard alerts really helps you feel more in tune with your campus.

There could be some fixes to Wildfire , however. First of all, hiding the dark mode behind an “invite your friends to Wildfire and you get this feature!” Is ridiculous. I could care less about special icons and stickers, but the dark mode shouldn’t be withheld :(
Secondly, Wildfire lags quite a bit whenever I make public posts (not replies). This can sometimes get so bad it’ll double over and make a duplicate of my post in the feed, which I then have to delete (which also lags or sometimes doesn’t appear to work). It would be great to see Wildfire move along much faster instead of sitting there watching it chug along and hoping whatever you typed actually gets posted.

this app is a good app I’d especially recommend for university-goers. Hopefully the lag and chug will be fixed to make Wildfire even better in the future.

Basically Twitter for School

2024-11-16

It's a decent application. I can't say that I've had any trouble with bugs or anything. I do have to say that I believe the way that Wildfire highlights certain things over others and how it deems certain things to be inappropriate/offensive is a bit ridiculous. For example, some people always spout off a political agenda in some way or another, but only certain individuals get flagged; in that regard, it seems pretty biased. I mostly use it for local news myself. I find that students update pretty frequently and are usually on top of things. Anyway, if you don't like politics or younger people, Wildfire isn't for you. Otherwise, have fun looking at all of the interesting posts people make.

Great app, but has some bugs for me

2024-11-16

Recently, I haven’t been able to actually use Wildfire . I was only able to properly open it once within a week or so span, and I try to open it at least once every day to see what’s going on around campus. I get alerts and notifications, but when I go to actually open Wildfire , I’m met with a black screen that doesn’t go away. I looked through the reviews and I saw that this was supposed to be fixed around October 30th, so I don’t know if the issue resurfaced with the new update three weeks ago or if there’s something wrong on my end. When it properly works, it’s a really good way to get info about what emergencies are happening or what’s going on in general!

Fun, innovative way to connect with fellow college peers!

2024-11-16

this app is another social media platform that has a slightly different twist to the other platforms. Unlike others, this app allows you to only interact with students of the same college campus. Posts are categorized usefully which makes sifting through useless posts easier. One feature, that stands out is the Alert feature. As the name suggests, this app often “spreads” safety alerts to its users allowing everyone to be informed of the newest emergencies, safety precautions, and even relatable posts. Although there are a few systematic bugs that appear every now and then, this app is an overall fun and informative app for any college student.

College Connection app!

2024-11-16

Wildfire is like a Twitter for college students, specifically for your own college that networks students attending that college only. As a freshmen myself, this apps helps me connect to other people and find myself learning from other students. People have been sharing news way to buy textbooks and other resources, and share things on campus that probably not everyone knows about! For example, I never knew that my college was able to have discounted tickets for any movie, just have to show your ID. But Wildfire also help us communicate school safety issues, events and other activities that are needed to be said, to spread the word. Definitely a 10/10 app for students to use. Especially if you want to know everything that happens on campus, and be able to share news as well!

Learned about potential school threat solely through this app

2024-11-16

I would give Wildfire more stars if I could. There was a potential shooter threat at UIC and the only way me and the rest of us students knew about it was through Wildfire. No other professor or faculty knew about it because our administration wasn’t giving us any information, and all the students had written countless posts and updates about it on Wildfire , which led to a majority of us staying away from campus and the potential threat. There ended up not being a shooting but I really feel like Wildfire and the spread of awareness had to do with the entire safety and security of the students. Basically, I felt a hell of a lot safer thanks to the this app app!

I love this app! I have one recommendation though

2024-11-16

Wildfire has been more entertaining than most other social media apps for me and it makes it really easy to find first-hand photos and videos of things happening around campus or the town. I love it for that. However, I do wish there was at least this addition to Wildfire , among others that I can’t think of right now:

The ability to mute/unmute people. Some people post obnoxious stuff 24/7 and that can get annoying. I don’t want their account to get taken down because other people find it entertaining but I also don’t want to see it myself.

Wildfire is the App You NEED for College

2024-11-16

I’m a sophomore at Ohio State and I saw an ad for this app so I decided to download it. Right away, it was super easy to use and really nicely designed. I get updates pushed to my phone if there’s a safety concern anywhere around campus, but you can also set your notifications to tell you about any other kind of post. And that’s another great thing! There are all kinds of things you can find on Wildfire ; people who just want to chat, tips for different things, like I said, safety, and even class specific resources. If you want to stay in the know on campus, you should definitely download this app.

This app is great in all the right ways

2024-11-16

I get bored at school and it's so much fun to see what other students are up to. It's super relatable and easy to respond to others on campus. Not only can you make friends, post memes, and have all the laughs; you can also get safety alerts regarding the campus, help with missing items, and buy/sell. If you want to be part of a growing community where everyone shares experiences and also want to make friends while doing it, install now. The sac state this app is in its prime, but I'm hoping to become a rep and help out with bugs and create an interface that is suitable for our campus.

College Student Necessity!

2024-11-16

Whether you’re a senior, freshman, transfer, or even international student, Wildfire is a must have!
I am a transfer student at UC Davis and Wildfire got me to connect with so many people who are just as clueless as me, and people who are pro’s of the campus and the way the school runs.
Wildfire sends you alerts for dangerous situations (such as bike accidents, potential tornadoes, criminal activity, etc.) And also is just a great place to chat with other students like yourself, chat about events, campus crushes, and even random events that can make a slow day more entertaining!
Highly recommend downloading!

What I Love About the Wildfire App

2024-11-16

The this app app is so good for college students to keep up to date on things going on on and and around campus. If anything concerning my safety is going on typically another student will post on there letting others know about this. I really like this because it seems like the campus itself doesn’t update the students on these kinds of things. I also am able to make friends through Wildfire by replying to other peoples posts. This is great because sometimes it’s hard to make friends with people in a new environment. Overall Wildfire is really good!

Awesome app

2024-11-16

I personally spoke with the creator of this app. He really has great intentions and I personally love Wildfire. It’s a great platform with no one calling each other out or exposing others. No bullying at all compared to other school apps that has no limitations and gives people the platform to harass others. This is a nice app to check what’s going on at school before your University even sends out a message to the public. It shows you that your fellow peers around campus truly care for your safety and to give you a heads up of anything dangerous. Definitely download Wildfire, you’ll love it.

Amazinggg

2024-11-16

Wildfire is super useful! I’ve never thought there would be an app to connect an entire campus with! The amount of information I receive about what’s happening on campus is very helpful and always enjoyable to read. I love the categories that are available for the posts and how you can read only those sections if you choose to. The safety category is what I mostly pay attention to because campus safety is important. The “unconfirmed” part of the safety posts are also very helpful in distinguishing real posts or non credible ones.

Knowledge is Power

2024-11-16

Wildfire is great. I always know what’s going on around campus because of the safety features. Also, I like that Wildfire is more than just an app to stay safe while on campus. You get to build a community with the people that go to your campus if you don’t have a chance to meet them in-person. Everyone on Wildfire is bonding over how sleep deprived we are because of midterms. I do wish there would be a function to block certain users if they are annoying unless they post in the safety section.

Wildfire is downloaded onto my phone, but it just stays on the open wing screen that’s white with “wildfire” in the middle. No matter how many times I refresh, wait, or redos load it doesn’t work.
