Adblock Plus for Safari (ABP) Reviews

I love 3D printing and I use safari for browsing multiple websites, to find the files I need. However, a lot of these sites have constant ad’s that will be put up and either follow, as I scroll through the page or will sometimes take up the entire screen!!! I try to close the ads and it still leaves a residual or “ghost” outline of the ad, which continues to block the content that I am trying to read 🤬🤬🤬. Anyways, after I installed and activated AdblockPlus, all of those annoying pop ups and full screen ads have disappeared. So far, I’m happy with it.

I’ve had this since it first came out and loved it. But last month I had to turn it off but when I turned it back on it didn’t block the ads like before. I love AdblockPlus and I hope it’s just a bug but for now I dont recommend it since it does nothing now

UPDATE: it works again I had to uninstall and reinstall AdblockPlus and I restarted my safari and my phone boom it works again.

The blocker works wonders. I used it and immediately got results it’s awesome. It is designed for safari though so if you want a game Adblock you are gonna need to find another one. I also haven’t tested this on the chrome app so there is that. I got is to Adblock safari and it does it’s job perfectly.

Had AdblockPlus for a long time. I remember it working long ago, but for some reason I had it turned off for the past few months (I think I wanted to access a page that wouldn’t allow access with an adblocker).

I turned it on again just now to get rid of annoying ads, reloaded pages and opened new browser windows but the ads would not go away.
I then downloaded another adblocking app, and that one worked, so I’m not sure what the problem was but I was disappointed that AdblockPlus doesn’t work anymore.

Every couple of iOS updates it breaks, but it’s fixed within the next couple of days, maybe a week at most. So if you’re ok with understanding to wait to update, this is the perfect Adblock for mobile and desktop safari browsing.

I was looking for adblockers to use so I can watch my kdramas peacefully on dramacool since I was afraid I could get a virus though people said it was a safe app. There were inappropriate ads so I decided to install an adblocker anc and across this. It worked out amazing, I can watch my kdramas and movies now thank you very much! I would recommended.

I used AdblockPlus to watch my anime on Safari. However once you open AdblockPlus do what it says and then click on exceptions and turn off “acceptable ads” and it should turn off all ads that pop up, without turning it off you’ll get random ads.

I usually don’t write reviews but I had to for this. AdblockPlus blocks all the Pop up ads that are most likely untrust worthy and annoying. Although I wish they would add a donation button because I feel I’d donate if I were given an option too

I was on a website where the ads literally blocked the text and AdblockPlus actually let me read the page! Minus one star because the setup I had to figure out myself (it told me only to close AdblockPlus which didn’t work — you have to dig through safari settings) but otherwise good!

Hi. I’m trying to find an Ad Blocker for a game by Wooga. Wooga is owned by Playtika. I believe I have all the settings turned on suggested by AdblockPlus. Still get Ads. They’ve changed. Once in awhile I get a spinning timer for 35 seconds. But mostly I’m surprised that the one Ad I really want to block keeps showing up. If you can help me get this to work, I’ll change my rating. It works good for blocking ads while using safari. I love reading the comments of people getting mad that it doesn’t block ads on games or on other apps when it literally says ad block for safari lol but reading and using common sense definitely isn’t a lot of peoples strong suit.

I think the bad reviews complaining that AdblockPlus doesn’t block ads in things other than Safari, which AdblockPlus isn’t designed to do. Never had an issue with ABP in blocking ads in the browser.

I wanted something to block redirects and so far nothing offered for iOS can do this, I don't really like clicking a website and then getting shuffled through fifty more and being unable to go back to the original one I wanted.

Me like many others are pestered my these human varification recaptcha's whats worse there is a survey version which is a utter nightmare and is often malware ridden. It would be nice to block this hinderance once and for all. Overall AdblockPlus does what it supposed to although I wish tampermonkey was included to put a stop to anti adblockers

Finding a good add blocker for Safari continues to be near impossible. Like every other add blocker that I’ve tried, this one doesn’t block a single thing despite the fact that it’s clearly activated in Safari. I don’t know what Apple is doing, but they seem to have severely neutered add blocking. AdblockPlus simply doesn’t block a single thing that I’ve noticed. This company’s add blocker for The PC browsers works great. On iOS, there is just no add blocking from AdblockPlus, at all.

I’ve had AdblockPlus for awhile I see a lot of reviews saying it stopped working and all you need to do is update AdblockPlus and it’s working perfectly fine again 10/10 would recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My school uses AdblockPlus to block all ads so I downloaded AdblockPlus and it works good. Had it for about 3 years and it’s getting even better with the updates

Works pretty well for somebody who’s never used an adblock before and the instructions it gave me were really simple to follow I’d recommend getting if you visit websites with way too many ads

I've been using this all the time, it's always easy to use, I hope it will be better in the future, and say goodbye to the advertisement!

AdblockPlus is an amazing one I’ve had it for a long time but recently it hasn’t been working I hope they update very soon because AdblockPlus does work wonders

AdblockPlus is not as it used to be.

If you want something that works like ad block plus does on windows, then look for "Adguard". It is definitely the best iOS ad blocker I have used. I was using adblock plus because I really like it on windows. But it is stripped down in ios (no ability to block annoying elements or choose multiple filters) and has functions that don't work, like the whitelist.

Adblock plus is not a bad iOS ad blocker, but you will find yourself constantly having to turn it off as sites detect you are using an ad blocker. Adguard seems to have The ability to avoid ad blocking detection for the most part. They also include a widget within safari that you can use to block ad elements or white list a site. You won't see that with adblock plus for ios (though it has all of that on windows)

Both of these are free apps and open source developed. It appears to me that adguard has implemented all the best features of ad block plus for windows and put them in a iOS ad blocker

Unlike the desktop or browser version. You cannot add any language specific Adblock rule list which is very disappointed for me. Since I go to both English and Chinese sites, and without language specific rule set many websites I browse will still display Ads. From all the Adblock add-on from App Store only Purify block most websites I visit out of the box, and Crystal also block those websites that I reported. The current version of the ABP has very minimal function. Beside the issues I had mentioned above, It also have neither whitelisting nor custom blacklisting seen on many other similar solution on AdblockPlus Store. It also cannot report problematic sites. Unless they add those features in the future, I will definitely recommend you to use other similar app such as Purify.

AdblockPlus does what it was advertised to do, but I have the acceptable ads switched off, and yet I go to the site I use very often and I can't figure out a way to block that ad. I don't want to see it. I would honestly rather see be huge empty block of space there.

I gave it 4 stars because we should have an option that allows us to tap and hold to give us the option to block an ad. Not sure if it's out of the range for programmers on iOS now, but it would be better than seeing this really annoying ad, especially since I'm using an ad blocker. Makes me think it doesn't work as well as I hoped it would.

I actually first downloaded this a few months back, but deleted it after the problems it basically solved disappeared. I stream video on a website, and if you start getting pop ups on it, they're unstoppable. Well at least I thought, until I found AdblockPlus. The pop ups came back to the website recently, and I immediately went back to this gem. I highly recommend it, works perfectly.

Does block ads which is fantastic. Still has a minor but very annoying intermittent bug where text input is almost impossible when the text box is at the bottom of a webpage and the popup keyboard covers it because the page can't scroll further. This makes commenting at the bottom of Facebook pages almost impossible. Would be happy to give 5 stars if this bug is fixed.

The tool bar at the bottom of the screen is inconvenient: it overlaps the bottom of the page and prevents clicking on any links that are there. I cannot even clear my history because of that. The toolbar should share the screen with the page, not overlap it. Besides that annoying usability issue, I'm very happy with this browser.

I have tried multiple applications to remove adds & while most do a pretty good job I have yet to find one that allows either of the following

1 enter URLs containing additional filter lists
2 entering text to use as filters

I do not consider myself an expert but have a set of filters that I enter into the adblock addons on the computers here (normally I can live with ads unless they move, flash or play an audio stream.)

I am starting by asking the developer of AdblockPlus because I am most familiar with how to write filters for it on a computer & would rather not have to have another app with a different filter syntax (ideally I could sync the filters between my iOS devices & my computers.)

This browser works way better than Google Chrome it should deserve 7 stars I tested it out on usually bad pop-up sites and it really works Google Chrome says that they got a pop up blocker but everytime when I go to certain pop up sites it doesn't block the advertisement like it's supposed to, Google Chrome 1 star

ABP for desktops is great but this one broke my Safari. It removes ads and everything else. Sites don't behave anything like they did before and a lot of functionally is gone to the point most websites are useless. After deleting AdblockPlus and restarting my phone everything is still broken. I think this is the only review I have ever written for an app. This should not be in AdblockPlus store. I will try to factory reset my phone to see if Safari is useful again. Long story short; don't download, you will wish you had the ads back after installing this.

This is a really great app but, there needs more settings. Like blacklisting, whitelisting, disable tracking, malware domains, Social media buttons and a different interface. Maybe a list of blocked adds too, I would like to know that and how much data is saved. I HIGHLY recommend AdblockPlus. P.S turn off acceptable adds. They still track you.

I'm not all that knowledgeable about ad blockers. I know that some are less effective, some are more effective, and some have just sold out to advertisers. This one in particular didn't help at all. I tried to go on one of my favorite websites that's recently become near unusable because of ads and all of them were still there despite the fact that I followed their guidelines in how to disable ads. Every ad on the side was there, every time I clicked something a new window for an ad would pop up. It changed nothing.

It’s an awesome app and it does what I need it to do without any problems but one drawback is that is doesn’t update automatically. It says it does but it doesn’t. You have to open AdblockPlus then updated yourself but if AdblockPlus can do automatically updates then it’s a five star app. That is the only complaint I have with AdblockPlus. No other complaints so far.
