Pocket Pitch - The Singer App Reviews

Extremely simple and easy to use digital pitch pipe. Recently found myself in a situation where the music director for the musical that I’m in quit- half way through rehearsals. And with him went his piano- this saved me last at last nights rehearsal when not only did it find my F#, but I literally pounded notes with it.
Not to mention everyone thought I was way more professional that I actually am!! Bonus points for that!! Get this!!

I first downloaded PocketPitch when singing with a choir. It was wonderful. I then had no use for PocketPitch for a while so I deleted PocketPitch , and forgot about it for a time. Just recently I have picked up Ukulele, and PocketPitch has aided me once again! I use it almost daily to help tune and assist playing! If you sing, play an instrument or have an interest in music, DOWNLOAD PocketPitch!! Play around with it! Use it, recommend it!

I am currently learning 16 songs and this is used with them all! I’m in 3 choirs and everyone have this downloaded! It’s great when we go off and work sections. We can play our notes at the same time.

My one bit of advice to the creators is to make it possible to play from one device two pitches at the same time. We each play the notes on our separate phones but it would be easier to use just one. Thanks!

I just installed Pocket Pitch, and as I have only relative pitch, I find it wonderfully useful. The pitch pipe section sounds like an air-blown pitch pipe, but volume is given by the controls on the phone, not by a larger or smaller amount of air. And the keyboard section sounds remarkably like an electric piano, and has four octaves of notes, based on A=440.
To get my bearings and practice singing, it’s perfect. I very highly recommend Pocket Pitch!

I think PocketPitch is pretty good! One thing I wish was different is about the piano portion of PocketPitch . I think it would be helpful if the screen would switch from up and down, to side to side one your screen; I feel like this would make it easier to play the notes (and since it is supposed to be a piano, it would make it more realistic).
Overall, PocketPitch is pretty cool and I would defiantly recommend it to anyone who’s considering getting it or not.

Thanks for the free app but some things I’d love to see improved that I would pay for is a built in auto tuner to test my voice ( and tune up my guitar). Also a dark mode would be huge. Using dark apps like GarageBand and then going to this on my iPad is like looking into the sun (slight exaggeration). Speaking of iPad it would be very nice to let PocketPitch rotate so I’m not always looking at it sideways. And one last thing, it would be nice if the note tones looped seamlessly instead of hearing the break in your audio sample.

I absolutely love it! Especially because I don’t have to worry about somebody getting it full of spit. Plus it covers so many keys. If you are a working musician you gotta have PocketPitch. It’s great for practicing in the car on your way to a gig when having your instrument is not possible or even tuning your instrument when somebody swipes your tuner. You gotta get man just do it!!!

Change from buttons to keyboard in 2021 made for easier hitting of wrong notes with thick fingers. Change to a different keyboard interface in late 2021 resulted in a keyboard that is slow to respond and often doesn’t produce a tone at all on the first try. So PocketPitch is no longer useful at all for picking out notes in melodies. The pitch pipe interface is still adequate although not improved by recent tweaks to its appearance. I hope to be able to update to a more positive review in the future if keyboard interface gets fixed.

I’m trying to learn to read music, but also to Hear the Pitch as I identify the Letter Name of each Note, on the Bass and Treble Clefs. The versatility of PocketPitch is making it a realistic goal. The Piano section offers octave levels 1-7. And the Pitch section Displays each note as it is played, including the specific #/b Pitch. I spend a lot of time on PocketPitch, and never become frustrated as with other Pitch apps. Great tool!

Finally a pitch pipe app that actually closely resembles an actual pitch pipe with options of either a C-C or F-F pipe! Also love the options for duration of pitch. Haven’t tried the fancy “blow in your iPhone’s mic” upgrade as the free version work great! Seeing as how it’s not been updated recently, I’m not sure if a slight refresh might be in order but on my 11 Pro Max running 13.2.2 it seems to be working just fine.

I have been very pleased with the pitch pipe app! With church services being moved outside for people to stay in their cars during the pandemic, much of our singing has been A cappella. Using PocketPitch has been much faster and easier than using my actual pitch pipe. I find it very accurate and easy to use.

I play timpani for my percussion group and PocketPitch is perfect for that. Since it’s in my phone I don’t have to worry about forgetting a pitch pipe at home or having to listen to a note across the lot when it’s loud and hard to hear. it works great and I like how there’s no wait to have a loud tuner I can take anywhere that’s free!

I bought this to help train my toddlers' ears. And then we didn't get to use it routinely as I anticipated. Now I found this old phone and brought it out to use apps to entertain my 7 and 5 year olds. They LOVE this. I need 3 old phones LOL. We also enjoy switching to the keyboard option. Definitely recommend!!!

PocketPitch is great! I always use it to get my pitch before I perform the National Anthem, and to tune my instruments. I just wish that you could change the circle to a higher octave. I know you can change it, but it won’t let me change it to the notes I need to tune my ukulele, so I have to use the piano thing on it, which isn’t the end of the world but...

As a life long musician who is always interested in the perfect pitch, I love having this tool in my pocket. Super rad and used often. Also, I like to detect the different car horn beeps to joke around. Yep, I said that. So, if you are not even a musician, allow this fun app to help you learn sounds. This is a great pitch pipe. It’s easy to use, and you can carry it in your pocket. I use it for practicing classical lieder when I don’t have a piano accompanist or when I don’t have a practice track. It’s been especially great during the pandemic with its social distancing. I always have a reliable guide to my pitch. Thanks!

It’s a pitch pipe you always have with you. I play by ear and have relative pitch, but often need the first note to get started when I’m trying to figure out a song in my head. This meets the need. hey have perfectly mimicked the sound of a blown pitch pipe. Nice that they included the piano option too.

I sing in a choir and barely read music. I get the gist of our anthems at Wednesday night rehearsal but there are always confusing passages. When we had a piano, I could bring the music home and pick at it until it was clear. Now with Pocket Pitch, the piano is in my hand.

App is fine like idk if all the notes are perfectly in tune but it still works well. But why does an app like this need maintenance?? That’s the only reason I could think of for the full screen ads. Before the update the ads were always down below. I think it’s ridiculous that they’re full screen. And sorry I’m not paying $1.99 to you.

Would be nice if they could give you an option to switch between the trouble clef and bass clef. Other than that I really like the fact that you can either leave it completely on or on and off.

It is a very handy app for tuning live sound. I understand that it should be kept as simple as possible. But wouldn’t it be nice to have frequency value across each key in piano roll? I think many sound techs (especially not professional ones) would be very thankful for the feature.

I’m a lifelong musician and I direct several choirs. When the power went out one night during a dress rehearsal the choir was all for continuing. I pulled out my handy-dandy cell phone with Pocket Pitch, and the dress rehearsal was a success! It was really there when I needed it! By the way the performance was great! Thank you! Easy to use, good results!

This is overall a great app. At first it was a little sketchy but that’s only because I’m kinda paranoid sometimes. I’m in a chorus and I have to find the pitch for some of the songs and I could never find the right pitch so I was singing the wrong notes. I’ve tried multiple apps and I like this one the most. Great app ;)

The audio learning tracks for my a capella chorus are not always easy to follow. Too fast, a mistake or two, sometimes there isn’t one. PocketPitch allows me to check bits with the sheet music and play bits of tune on the “keyboard” as well as pitch myself when I am without a useable track. I love this thing.

Especially in this moments where you want a fuller range of pitches than what you find on a pitch pipe, if you even happen to have one around! I like the piano function because it sounds like a piano and you can play more than one pitch at a time. Thank you!

I am so glad to have the full range of pitches available, not just the ones on the standard pitchpipe. Thank you for freeing us from the analog version with its single circle of pitches!
And brilliant to offer both a sustained pitch for tuning purposes, plus a quick decay pitch for getting a starting note.

I lead singing many times each week in use PocketPitch to pitch every song I lead.

After a song is finished, I listen to the original pitch to see if the groups I lead are flatting the original pitch.

This is a good app for any song leader.
