I have become OCD about geotagging my photos in the past decade. I started with a GPS tracker (clunky). I moved on to using my iPhone when I wasn’t somewhere outside civilization (which is all the time now). I’ve paid for apps but they sometimes were abandoned or began pestering me with ads. I fell for the “Free to download!” qualifier not realizing they were limited. I recently tried OpenGPXTracker out. It worked. I don’t need a lot of extra features. I just need an app that can track accurately. It should just start up and begin tracking with a tap. Naming a trip is nice but not necessary. It should export a GPX file. On those expectations OpenGPXTracker is perfect. No bloating. The worst I can say is it drains the battery (but all tracking apps do that). This is my go-to app now.

Everything works great, only suggestion is fix the complication on the watch. It shows up sometimes, but not always. Looks like the issue maybe that the wording is too long to fit into the complication. Try replacing it with a GPX logo instead.

Easy to use and appears to be very accurate. I use it to mark locations of trees to preserve on construction sites.

One issue however. When I write out a GPX file it seems to forget the decimal point in some of the longitudes. I am able to add them back in with a text editor which is very time consuming. Sure would be nice if it didn’t have to do that.

I installed OpenGPXTracker on my iPhone 6s Plus running 11.4 and it works fine. Emailed the track to myself and that worked fine, too. The map has a watermark all over saying that an API key is required; if there were an obvious way to get and enter that then I’d give five stars. I wanted a way to generate real tracks for testing location aware applications and OpenGPXTracker delivered.

1. Please bring all the buttons down into an Apple Maps like sheet that I could push it down to hide some of that buttons like settings and all the ones that are currently located on the upper right corner, impossible to reach one handed.

2. If you put those buttons into a sheet similar to the Apple Maps app search sheet, make it look a little psychotropic. Actual buttons to press. It’s good to have the all the speed and distance info at the top but the buttons should be easy to reach. That’s a good apps feature.

3. (Brand new feature request) speak the names of the streets as my location enters them. I would love this option.

I don’t like any of the running apps out there- they all track your personal information and sell it to third party companies. This is a perfect replacement for that. Straight forward, simple layout, easy to use. I exported my GPX file into Google maps and can easily track my runs now! Thanks for this great product.

This is a real well thought out app with the perfect set of features for recording GPX files. This is exactly OpenGPXTracker I would have designed myself.
I use it to record my hikes and upload data to open street map.

This GXP Tracker App works very well. We walk a lot in our city and switch routes a lot and its helpful to see where we have been. Is there a setting that can be changed to measure distance in miles and mph instead of km? If not its still a great app, I just have to do the math. Thanks for providing a great app.

This is a great open source GPS logging app! However, unfortunately on my iPhone 7 running iOS 11.3.1, I cannot export my saved GPX tracks: If I use the email option OpenGPXTracker crashes... I hope this can be fixed, or another export option can be added?

OpenGPXTracker does a lot of things well.

However, I want to get GPX tracks for bicycle paths that don’t appear on maps. Unfortunately, OpenGPXTracker will “snap” my track to a nearby road running parallel to the bike path. This is not what I want—I just want raw GPS data. I can’t find how to turn this off. So I’ve quit using OpenGPXTracker, and download GPX data from Strava’s web site instead.

It would be great if tracks could automatically be uploaded or emailed. Dropbox or iCloud would be best for me. Daily would be optimum, but an option when saving would work. Or can I see the tracks in a macOS app?

Great app. Does just what it says. I was able to export GPX files from CalTopo straight into GPX Tracker no problem. Planning to test it out in the backcountry next week.

My only suggestion would be to have a topographical later available.

I really need a “jump to” feature where I could enter lat & lon- instead of blind scrolling

I downloaded OpenGPXTracker but I don’t see it installing on my watch is there a trick to this?

I use this for all of my adventure hikes and bike rides. Works incredibly well for off-line maps that are cashed.

I was looking around for a nice free app and this one cannot beat the price.

Can I send gpx files from my phone to my Apple Watch?

I have field tested OpenGPXTracker in rural Mississippi OpenGPXTracker beats every other single waypoint app I could find great job!

How do you import GPX files? There is no option that I see

This is a no-frills tool style app that has an intuitive straightforward interface . It is easy to start tracking routes and setting waypoints. Saving waypoints is also simple. It has the most important core features without adds and frills that get in the way.

I am finding an APP which can track some road for openstreetmap. OpenGPXTracker really works well and smooth. Although somethimes the map will fly over and over but I guess it is not the apps fault. Keep on going!

Title says it all. Routing apps only need access in the foreground for my use cases. This one refuses to work at all if it doesn't have constant access. Deleted.

Whatever I do, it doesn’t track. It seems app quits if you close it or just lock the phone. Yes, i checked its gps permissions, it says “always allow”.
