Best Weather App For Everyday Life, Period!

I have tried a lot of weather apps and this one excels them all! The clean and well-thought out interface make using HelloWeather a delight. I’ve used it for a few years now and have never had the desire to look for a new weather app, it’s that good! After using the free version for a short time I decided to become a lifetime member. This is the only app I’ve ever done that for!

It delivers everything you need to know each day with out all the data clutter most weather apps suffer from. The radar is implemented well and has always been reliable when I feel the need to check it… super powerful. But the beauty and power of HelloWeather is found in the fact that I rarely feel the need to check the radar because the summaries given for each day are THAT GOOD! I also appreciate the weekly forecast with its simple descriptions of what to expect.

HelloWeather has never failed me and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a clean, beautiful weather app that tells you what you need to know without all the other clutter!

Beautiful and simple yet info-rich

Everything I ever wanted in a weather app! It has the accurate weather forecasts of Dark Sky, but is much more readable and beautiful. The color-coded infographics make it easy to check the weather at a glance. Best of all there are no intrusive ads. Even if you choose not to pay for the subscription, there is just one simple, non-distracting banner encouraging you to get an annual sub for full features. I was disappointed that the Apple Watch companion was hidden behind a pay wall, but I was so impressed by the iPhone app that I went ahead and subscribed for a year. In my opinion this is the best weather app on the market, but I can’t help but mention that I feel although the $6.99 annual pricing is manageable, it feels rather steep compared to other weather apps. The inclusion of multiple data sources is a really nice feature but I could live with a few less sources if the annual sub was a few dollars cheaper or if it was a flat one-time fee. All-in-all I am incredibly impressed with these devs. Keep up the great work!

Is it worth buying? ABSOLUTELY

Let me start by mentioning things that we buy everyday that cost more than $4.99. A chipotle bowl with guacamole costs around $9, a chick fil a 4 chicken strip meal cost about $7, 1/2 a sandwich with soup cost around $6 at Panera and 3 scoops of ice cream anywhere cost around $5. For none of the above you think twice if you are going to buy it right? Once you are in line, what do you do? Pay for it. So if you are reading this is because you are interested in this amazing app so let me tell you it is worth investing in it.

So I already justified the $4.99. Now let’s move to the why? First, HelloWeather offers 5 different sources for weather information in a single app. If you wanted those sources, individually it would be over $15. Second, you can customize the color presentation of not even HelloWeather itself but even the logo. Third, it gives the information that is necessary for the average human being. A lot of apps do offer more info on the main screen but let’s be real here...does anyone care about anything else besides when is it going to rain/snow, what is the temperature and how windy it’s going to be? Nope. I am not saying this are the only things HelloWeather offers but you trying to keep things in perspective. Bottom line, give it a try.

VR
- from someone that spent over $25 dollars already trying to look for the perfect weather app.

FYI - this is the second review I have ever done on a app so that just says how happy I am with it.

Great concept, needs improvement

I WANT to love HelloWeather- the simplicity and appealing design is eye-pleasing and easy to use and navigate through. On the other hand, $7/year just to have access to the radar is a little ridiculous. I understand that there are no ads so you have to make your money somehow, but that’s just too pricey in my opinion when I can have easy access to the weather radar on another app. Also, the accuracy of predicted weather, even an hour from now, is annoyingly inaccurate. Numerous of times I have prepared for a 100% sunny day due to the apps weather prediction for the day, then it happens to monsoon at an inconvenient time while I have no rain jacket nor umbrella (because who needs those things when the sun should be shining all day?).. my point is, its unreliable to the point where I have to double check on another app to be sure that the weather is predicted accurately.
Other than that, I love the idea of HelloWeather, the nice widget option, and I really like how the weather is given to you in simple layman’s terms. I’d buy HelloWeather if it were cheaper and once it improves a bit.

Still Awesome After One Year 👍

So I have been using Hello Weather for a year now (as of this month), and I have to say it’s still an awesome app. HelloWeather is always reliable and always works, without all the clutter that most apps have. I really like the fact, that you can select other weather services to compare information (guys you need to keep that, because most apps don’t offer multiple weather sources). The developers also respond quickly to any recommendations, questions, and concerns, which really wins me over (a lot of apps NEVER respond to their customers). If you want a great weather app that is not only visually amazing, but accurate and has all the information without any unnecessary filler GET HELLO WEATHER. I will be renewing my yearly subscription soon! 👍 (and guys thanks for keeping the price reasonable, some weather apps are charging ridiculous amounts of money).

P.S. these guys are so awesome with HelloWeather I may just have to invite them for Christmas 👍🙂

Finally, a literate weather app!

I have downloaded & deleted more weather apps than I care to count, but I think this might be the one!

I don’t ask for much in a weather app: I want to be accurate, I want it to give me weather alerts, and I just want to glance at it and see a sentence that tells me the weather forecast. When I wake up I don’t feel like looking at icons and deciphering what they mean, I just want a simple sentence saying it’s 35° and we’re expecting snow this afternoon, or whatever.

Everyone wants different things, but it’s surprising how few apps will actually give you a sentence like that, everyone else seems so obsessed with gimmicky icons to the point of being illiterate, but HelloWeather nails it. I also like that I can easily see the hourly forecast and the daily forecast. Good visual chart on the hourly forecast that doesn’t just list the temp, but intuitively shows at a glance if it’s higher or lower. Nicely done guys, keep up the good work.

Customer privacy policy

This is a trail-blazing weather app and my favorite for many reasons but mostly because of the developers’ stance on privacy and tracking. Too many companies track and bombard customers with messy ads while selling our data on top of charging us for their sketchy ad-laden services anyway! It’s unethical and I’m glad the makers of Hello Weather recognize that. We should demand the same consideration from other service providers across platforms and support those like Hello Weather who get it. The free version is great but I will be happy to subscribe. The only hesitation has been the cringe-inducing terminology associated with subscribing. “Join the Fan Club”? C’mon, guys. Is that actually appealing to anyone? Other than that, as long as the developers continue to honor customer privacy and don’t deviate from their ethics and quality standards, their app is well-worth a yearly subscription. To the developers and team: Great job and thank you!!

Lovely Weather App

The design is beautiful and uncluttered since there are no ads. I checked out several weather apps in a day and this was my favorite by far. I appreciate being able to change the source of the weather information. You can also choose the colors of HelloWeather icon on your home screen to make it easier to find, which is great since so many apps use the same color schemes and look similar. I also love the night mode of HelloWeather , which automatically shifts the color theme to be darker and easier on your eyes in the evenings.
I do wish the (paid) fan club came with a few more more perks or was a one time purchase instead of a subscription. I purchased the subscription because I am happy to support the lovely app once, but If there aren’t more things added to HelloWeather by the time my annual subscription ends, I will probably not pay for an additional year.

Wrong information is displayed

I am a paying customer. It’s a nice app, but sometimes it displays wrong information on low/ highs for today.

1. The first problem occurs when The Weather Company is chosen as the source. When showing daily highs, sometimes, instead of showing the actual temperatures, I believe it shows the “feels like” temperatures. Thus, if at the highest point of the day it’s 32C but feels like 39C it will show the daily high of 39C. This is terrible. This doesn’t happen when I choose another source, say the Dark Sky.

2. The second problem is that sometimes it shows the daily high for the remainder of the calendar day, not for the entire day. Thus, if the highest temperatures after 6pm is only 24C then it will display 24C as the daily high. Doesn’t happen every time, but often enough to get annoyed.

3. This third problem is in contrast with 2. In the display of the daily low, it us impossible to say if the low is from the night before or the night after the daytime. It will be much more reasonable to include the lowest daily temperature of the night following the daytime rather than lowest temperature for the calendar day which includes parts of two nights. I thinks it is just misleading to display the low temperatures the way Hello Weather displays.

I hope the developers read these reviews and will address the issues, but I will keep my monthly subscription for now, because I think HelloWeather is useful, especially on the watch, despite of the glitches.

My FAVORITE weather app of all time!

This is the only weather app I’ve ever seen that I absolutely love! I’ve been using the Weather Channel app for several years, simply because it was merely the most decent one out of a bunch of crappy weather apps, and even the Weather Channel app is wrong almost as often as the crappiest weather apps out there! I love how much specific detail HelloWeather provides, such as the percentage of the day’s/week’s chance of rain, how hard it’s expected to rain, even down to the time it’s supposed to start and stop raining! I love how include it includes real-time radar, the ability to customize the colors of your theme, screen brightness (light or dark mode), weather source options, and even includes what the temperature will be every hour! And as if all those features weren’t enough, it’s just a beautiful app altogether. I love, love, love, love HelloWeather! I’m a Hello Weather App fan for life!

I’ve Always Been Fascinated By Our Weather

I’ve Always Been Fascinated By Our Weather and I’ve got at least 10 weather apps on my iPhone. I depend on HelloWeather more than any other. At $4.99 a year it’s so much better than any of the others! I think that most of us think that ALL the weather apps will have the same forecast. NOT SO! HelloWeather gives you the option of switching between 5 different companies that provide forecasts. You would be surprised at the different weather forecast, especially when you want information about short range and mid-range forecasts. You don’t have to even download The Weather Channel or Accuweather apps because their forecast is available in HelloWeather. You’ll spend just as much money when you buy the new McDonald’s Quarter Pounder and that’s something you won’t even think about after you’ve eaten it.

Close to Perfect

This is a really solid weather app. I love the uncluttered format, as well as being able to easily switch back and forth between the different weather services. No weather service is 100% accurate so having the option to easily see a number of forecasts within the same app is a real plus. I’m also impressed that when you have a question, you get a prompt response from the developers. This is the first time I have ever paid for a weather app and after two months of using it can confidently say that, for me, the upgrade is worth every nickel. On my wish list: A shorter update lag time on the widget would be nice. Also, having the ability to receive critical/severe weather notifications would be a big plus.

Keeping it simple

Hello Weather has jumped to the top tier among my favorite weather apps. The clean, uncluttered interface is organized in a way that makes information easy to read and understand. “Right now” and “Later today…” sections dominate the forecast screen with details and radar always just a tap or a swipe away. Multiple data sources is a plus. The developers have put a lot of thought and work into this, really sweating the usability instead of rushing to add lots of new features. That said, here’s a short list of the enhancements I hope are in the pipeline:
Push notifications for significant weather, gov’t. alerts, etc.
Quicker access to current location through the use of strategically placed location arrows.
Weather alerts are currently accessed by tapping a gray box below the “Right now” section. The ubiquitous red alert triangle used by most other apps would stand out more and better complement the design.
I originally advocated for access to additional icon sets, but later discovered that the developers have created an expansive set of custom icons that offer a more detailed and nuanced representation of conditions than any other app I’ve tested.

This is a really good weather app that I suspect will keep getting better.

Perfectly simple, with a wealth of knowledge

I really adore HelloWeather, I’ve been using weather apps that are just riddled with ads, extra content/alerts and their own “news” that I don’t care or need. HelloWeather on the other hand is absolutely perfect. It gives you the information you need in a really dynamic and easily understood ways. The customization of HelloWeather is great, depending on the dark/light mode, HelloWeather icon.. etc. I did buy the membership which is $5/year, and honestly I would rather pay and get the radar and such through HelloWeather than have ads, extra videos, and stuff I don’t need. Did I mention that I’ve never seen an ad on HelloWeather too? That is a HUGE highlight to me. Honestly it is SO worth the download and $5/year if you want simple weather that is cute and informative.

YES!

First of all, I have used all of the highly rated weather apps on HelloWeather Store in search of something that covers all my needs. HelloWeather comes very close. The home screen layout of information is the best I’ve seen. I have reached out to add pollen count so we will see how that goes. The dark mode is awesome and pure black is a great plus for my iPhone X. One great option is the ability to switch the source your info comes from, a great comparison tool. I work outside so accuracy is key. The use great sources too (dark sky, weather underground, accuweather, weather channel, and more!) the radar is basic and not up to par with other apps, something I also reached out about, but it’s ok. Ability to change speed of radar and look a few hours into the future would make HelloWeather stand above the rest.

Great Apple Watch App!

It was great on my iPhone so wanted to try it on my Apple Watch. It offered a 3-day trial for the annual subscription which is required for it work on the Watch. Out if the gate, my location wasn’t stable. It always defaulted back to another one. I emailed the developers. They quickly responded saying they were working on a fix. No more than a week later, the update was available and so was the fix. My location is now stable!

HelloWeather has the BEST large Complication available for the Apple Watch.
It’s minimal display shows: location, current temp, ⬆️ High & ⬇️ Low.

Inside of that it shows you the current temp, weather warnings (so important!), hourly & this week. Touch again to get the details: wind, humidity, pressure, sunrise, sunset & UV. The color bar graphics make it easy to see the rise & fall of the temps. They also change colors based on current temps.

The iPhone app is also impressive! Customizations are available for data Sources: Dark Sky, AccuWeather, AerisWeather & The Weather Company.

Custom theme colors & app icon too!

Thank you for making such a functional app that’s also pleasant to look at!

PS - Please consider adding moon stage info in a future update.

clean, simple design

This is a nice looking weather app that provides a the forecast in simple terms. There’s a few improvements I would like to see. First I don’t like the horizontal line under the location at the top of the screen. This ruins the clean design look in my opinion. I’d rather extra white space below it or just make it scroll with the rest of the forecast (I think it’s unnecessary to always be at the top). Second, while I like the use of color, it’s not always clear what the colors represent when there is both an up and down bar. Third the weather advisory button, while it should be prominent, stands out too much and detracts from the design. I’d rather a white button with border like the source button (but make the source button just text and no button). Lastly, I’d like notifications of weather warnings.

Beautiful app

Presenting a bunch of data pulled together from different sources to make actual information out of it, is a real skill. To make that information readable at a glance yet still retain depth is talent. This team apparently has both kinds of people; HelloWeather is gorgeous.

My only issue is that some of the less basic, and really useful features - like radar, or the Watch app - are only available behind a subscription paywall.

Hopefully the Watch portion will become a Watch App Store purchase (not subscription). I’ll buy it in a heartbeat.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for developers making money, and I’m more than happy to do my part for an app I think is really well done. I just don’t do subscriptions.

Look, if you’re a 9-5’er, I’m sure recurring payments are much easier to manage, because you’ve got predictable income on a predictable schedule. Not all of us do, so to commit to a predictable payment on a predictable schedule, without the predictable income on a predictable schedule, is just simply an irresponsible habit.

Make these features single-time purchases, and when I know it’s ok to do so, I will buy them! But as a subscription we both lose out.

Everything I ever wanted buuuut....

First off, I really really like your weather app. It has everything I look for in a weather app. The real feel is right there in the widget and near the top in HelloWeather . Humidity is the other thing I look for and I like it to be in a convenient place instead of looking through the whole app for it. Radar is also high on my list, but I like to see what’s coming. All your app has is past radar it doesn’t really help you figure out what’s coming. The other thing I do enjoy is notifications. I don’t mean when sever weather is impending, don’t get me wrong I do appreciate that, but I mean little ones like knowing snow or rain may be starting in an hr in my area or something along those lines. Other wise I definitely will be recommending your app to friends and family!

You NEED This App

Over the years I have used about every weather app out there. They have all cluttered up my screen, killed my battery, frustrated me needlessly and very unorganized and expensive.

Well, not anymore. This is the best weather app on the market that I have ever found. Price is reasonable for which I am thankful . The information is precise . The ability to switch to different weather information systems is wonderful. Everything is laid out so logically. There is no clutter, there is no drain on my battery, and the layout and design is absolutely wonderful! Every time I capture a screenshot and share it on my Facebook page someone asks me what app is that and where can I get it?

Keep doing what you’re doing guys; thanks for the great weather app.
