This was a great app with a wonderful story that my daughter and I really enjoyed. The animation was fun, the interactivity was clever, and the story was a really cool take on a classic.

However, upon updating GreenRidingHood the only option it offers is a subscription. $10/mo or $80 annually?! Come on. I’ve already paid for GreenRidingHood . The update was a sneaky way for the developer to chop up the story and charge for each chapter. Beyond disappointed. It’s restore purchases button is also “non operational.” I don’t mind additional fees but not allowing access to the story is poor form. As a fellow developer price your apps appropriately or make a new version.

Spent money to buy GreenRidingHood then a year later no longer have access and require an exorbitant subscription fee for a story. What a rip off.

I am aware that this review is EXTREMELY LONG, but if you don’t read this, please AT LEAST immediately run away from GreenRidingHood!!! Thinking of DL’ing and checking it out? Plz read...

GreenRidingHood needs reported to Apple. I PAID for this book 4yrs ago!! I went to redownload again, right where my little cloud showed I’d ALREADY OWNED this. Apparently, some ridiculous money grubbing ppl from a foreign country, now decided that previous owners now only own a few PAGES of this ‘interactive’ book, that demonizes you to your little kids, if you’re NOT VEGAN!! Now, this was sort of in line w/the original, but they stepped it up majorly, with telling little undeveloped brains that are sponges, that you can only be a good person and happy if you do both YOGA and refrain from ALL MEAT.

But wait...that’s not why GreenRidingHood should be reported. It’s cuz ppl PAID FOR THIS IN ITS ENTIRETY, and now we’re not only expected to REPAY TO GET THE BOOK CONTENT ITSELF, BUT THEY REQUIRE A SUBSCRIPTION!! That’s right, you are charged as if you are making a loan payment, because they claim that it is continuously updated w/new content for your young children to be ‘enjoy’, because you know, to teach a child a SPECIFIC way of life, they need to have it continuously pounded into their little brains.

I also looked at the VERSION HISTORY. Since introducing this unheard of SUBSCRIPTION BASED SINGLE STORY BOOK 2 yrs ago, they’ve made about THREE UPDATES, and they were to introduce the new “you no longer own this book, and must SUBSCRIBE” update, and subsequent BUG FIXES!!!

There has been ZERO UPDATES IN OVER A YEAR!!! How many ppl have subscribed and unwittingly never realized that they’re still being charged, or don’t know how to get charges to stop?! I subscribed to an app once, n when I both unsubscribed thru my subscriptions in my iPhone settings, as well as by email, with a confirmation FROM THEM THAT I WOULD NO LONGER BE CHARGED. I even changed my bank’s CREDIT/DEBIT card w/a new number, and they managed to get ahold of my actual bank acct number and continued taking $6.99 a month for over 2 and a half yrs. Yes, I knew n no, they didn’t stop. My bank recommended I close the acct n open another but I have a 6 number one memorized as opposed to a 12 or longer now digit one w/this bank, because it is my first bank acct from a local bank I opened in high school back in 1986. I stayed with repeated buyouts, so I could have such a short number. A determined person at my bank thankfully didn’t give up n understood my reason to not close acct cuz one crooked company, n FINALLY got em to stop w/threat to sue. FYI, the scammers were Big Fish - who any gamer of escape n point n click adventures will not be surprised to hear this. They too made you repay for games you already owned, made titles intentionally no longer available, or else took an old game you’d paid for under another title, and literally just slapped on a new title, so you no longer owned it forever (per their claim), you’d have to repay $7, as they called it a ‘new game’.

I only got into my whole Big Fish ‘saga’, because it seems that with the overload of apps, ppl stealing other devs apps n claiming them as their own, and SO MANY games n apps going with this ridiculous subscription-based model, many ppl are unaware they are still being charged, or they may try to stop the payments n the company continues to charge you, and you end up paying MAJORLY for what was to be for enjoyment.

ANY DEV (apparently original company sold this to whomever the greedy current owners are) WHO WOULD DO NOT ONLY TRY TO ‘TRAIN’ YOUR CHILD IN A DEMEANING WAY... being vegan and/or yoga is great, IF it’s your choice, but essentially brainwashing young children is not ok!!!
And ANY DEV WHO WOULD DO ALL THE SHADY THINGS GOING ON HERE, sounds like a UNTRUSTWORTHY company WHO WILL GIVE YOU PROBLEMS IF YOU DID INTENTIONALLY OR ACCIDENTALLY SUBSCRIBE, AND YOU’LL LITERALLY PAY FOR IT. THERE’S A PLETHORA OF INTERACTIVE STORYBOOKS AND COMPANIES/DEVS WHO ARE TRUSTWORTHY. JUST DO NOT CHOOSE THIS ONE!!

My grandkids love the story and animation. I paid for GreenRidingHood , now, after an update they want to add a monthly fee! No thanks.

Couldn’t get one click past the opening screen before it asked for $9.99 per month subscription to access GreenRidingHood. I have no idea whether or not GreenRidingHood is worth $9.99 per month, though I suspect it is not, no way that I would pay that for an app which I cannot even check out.

Should not be offered as a free app in GreenRidingHood Store at all, I would consider that to be a bait and switch scam. I would give GreenRidingHood less than one star if I could.

Now charging ten bucks a month for content the kids have already played with... Deleted

GreenRidingHood and story were so cute. I paid for GreenRidingHood a couple of years ago but the new updates now want me to pay a large monthly subscription!?! WTH?!

For one story 10 a month. Had this for two years and now I have to pay 10 a month?

I was paid for GreenRidingHood already by this account bot when i reload, it request to pay monthly? So what is the meaning of my payment?

My kids really enjoy this book, as do I, but the latest “update” removes the ending, repackages it as “Chapter 2”, and sells it for another $4. Deceptive and disappointing.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. My daughter LOVED this story. Now, after investing over $16 in all the various charges, for essentially a very simple story with a few recipes, you want to bill me for $4.99 a month? FOR WHAT?! Thanks, now my two year old freaks out because she can’t look at the story anymore because you’re greedy.

I bought this story over a year ago but now they updated it and I only get to see 4 pages of the book before it prompts me to buy a monthly subscription. BS! I paid for the book...I should be allowed to continue using it.

I know that I paid for GreenRidingHood a few years ago, but I also understand that companies change hands. To the New Developer, can you please explain to me and other prospective buyers what new features would be received with the new $9.99/month subscription?

And then, GreenRidingHood “updated” and now in order to access the content (that I’ve originally purchased) I need to buy a subscription? What a shame! It’s sad that an app as awesome as the original one got completely destroyed by the new updates (as far as I know the original developer Bobaka sold it to the current greedy folks)

My daughter loved GreenRidingHood. Then we updated it to get the “additional content”. That additional content is annoying advertising.

Used to be really good and my kid loved it. After the update GreenRidingHood asks to pay the fee even though I've already bought GreenRidingHood . Thanks for such a ridiculous update !

GreenRidingHood was dormant for months then suddenly started to ping me with notifications every single night, I uninstalled this.

This story app is beautiful. The storytelling is good, and everything was well done. However, the message is weird. It seems very sanctimonious; as if there's only one life-style choice that's valid. I've no problem with vegetarianism; I've embraced it myself at times. But it's not true that the yoga/vegetarian lifestyle makes one happy and less mean, angry, and violent. I've known plenty of grumpy, angry, delusional, and judgmental vegetarian yoga lovers. There are good and bad people, angry and calm people, violent and passive people, etc. of every gender, race, creed, and lifestyle. There are healthy and unhealthy people among meat eaters and vegetarians alike (albeit it's always healthier to eat lots of veggies and, if one eats meat, to eat only pasture-raised, grass-fed meat). In fact, I'd say that the greatest threat to peace and happiness is absolute intolerance of others lifestyles, unless those lifestyles involve harming others. And that debate is a rabbit hole.

Paid $4.99 then $7.99 to unlock the rest of the story. Waaaay too much for a little story book app. It’s definitely not worth that much for what you get. Wish I’d read the previous review before purchasing. Not worth it.

I share it with my speech and language kids and they loved it !
