Bugs becoming intolerable

Updated review: Twice I have leveled up and not received an expansion key despite a menu popping up and clearly showing me that I just revived one. This is especially frustrating considering how long it takes to level up and that's part of the point of the game. I love the fact that they display real species information and do not have any of that weird cross breeding of invented fish in other apps, but this nonsense is making not want to play any more. It's also ridiculous that as you level up it's so hard to get the necessary gems to make the fish you have to wait days before producing your first fish. There is no incentive to watching adds either; do you seriously expect me to sit through another 30 second add for Botox if you only give me enough coins to feed one fish? Check out tap tap fish for a very well executed reef simulator.

Fun game that suffers from annoying bugs such as some numbers can't be seen because they are obscured by their hordes and gems you need to level up new fish do not register as being collected which is annoying because it makes it impossible to level up certain fish like sea horses. Also any out of app menus like FAQ show up upside down which is really annoying.

Great game but It makes me wanna kill a turtle.

So, if you read the title you’ll probably start to hate me. But when I say this game makes me want to kill a turtle, it makes me wanna kill the turtle in the game.

Okay games great it’s just like flutter starlight just fish and a bit easier. But! I’m here for one reason only. If I could I would kill the color changing fish names Chloe, I would! She keeps getting in my way, thanks for the money but stay out of my pictures! And stay out of my way. I had a good shot then she just appeared and and pushed my fish away! Frick her and frick that annoying turtle that keeps stopping me from clicking on the stupid fish. They get in my way!

How to fix this? Maybe add a button that hides them, like your hiding any newcomers that can block you from clicking things but only appear back when they have stuff for you. And have a button to call the turtle when you need help.

Something Bad...

Ok so I know that I’ve had SplashFishAquarium before and I absolutely loved it, for that experience I give it a full 5 stars. So I decided to get SplashFishAquarium on my new phone along with Starlight and Flutter because I loved both of the other games so much as well. The one problem is I couldn’t even pass the tutorial! I hatched to fish, yes good, I grew them up let them go, fine alright. Then I get to the part where you have to open the Aquapedia and SplashFishAquarium always closes, this wouldn’t be too too big of a problem if it wasn’t the tutorial and I could do something else, but it wasn’t. I tried about ten times. Then I tried to open a different app and then go back and it continued to glitch. I’m going to keep SplashFishAquarium just in case the glitch will stop and I can retry, but this is sort of a big issue effecting my experience with the game. I know this can be fixed but this is what is giving you three stars. If you are reading this review as a recommendation to see if you should get SplashFishAquarium , sorry you had to read this much, but also download it see if you like it. It’s a wonderful app and you should really try it. As soon as my game starts working I will edit this review to 5 stars but until then it stays at three. Thank you for reading this review, and I hope you have good day.

It’s not Happy Aquarium, but…

So I have recently tried revisiting my childhood in hopes to find a game even remotely similar to happy aquarium. I stumbled upon this game and I was actually pleasantly surprised at the similarities as well it’s own little quirky notes to it. My biggest issue with this game is the currency aspect. It’s impossible to gain and retain in game currency to feed the fish and keep growing your aquarium without actively checking SplashFishAquarium every 40 or so minutes. Theirs no feature where it gives you say 500 coins after 8 hours to give you a good boost. So a lot of the time spent in game is stagnant and you can’t do a thing! No side quest, missions, nothing but just starring at the fish. lol. Also, it’s extremely difficult to get certain items needed to hatch new fish. It was relatively easy to level up in the beginning but now it’s just so slow and boring and really no point in continuing to play. The game has potential, but it’s lacking in a lot of areas.

could be so good

Really fun, really cool. I love the game. The problem with the game is that the economy is whacked. You can literally never get enough of special currency… OR EVEN REGULAR CURRENCY… to make any kind of steady progress. Once you get to level 16, the economy becomes impossible to manage w/o buying things for real money… and those prices are warped too. As soon as i unlocked the fish after the first jellyfish set, and the food for them costs upwards of 300… basically what I’m saying is the game is super fun until you hit THAT WALL. the wall where the progress becomes so stagnant you wonder why you’re bothering to play in the first place. Unless you pay a stupid amount of real money of course. Normally I would give a game with only one problem 4 stars, but it loses an extra one because the game is unplayable without a balanced economy. Which is REALLY a shame, and i really expected more from Runaway. An one time payment option to get rewards w/o watching the ads would go a long way because then you could just spam the snail wheel to get regular money.

More needs to be happening in the game

It’s a fun game, but is in no comparison to the Flutter games, not because this game has to do with underwater creatures and that has to do with butterflies and moths, but because this game can get boring. It’s a game I don’t play for a long time, because there is only so few things you can do, and it can get quite boring. I would suggest there being more things to do even after you feed the fish. Things to keep me intrigued, because the goals can take a long time to obtain. There has to be more intrigue, and there needs to be more depth about the coral reef and just about the sea life, in general. Not that there isn’t information about the sea life or anything of that matter, it’s just that the gameplay can feel a bit claustrophobic, with not too many places to go. I don’t feel like there is the same quality in this game as there is in the Flutter games. Still, I have faith for it. Such nice a beautiful idea, to be able to help species flourish and to have your own coral reef. It’s just needs to have more of an oompf for me.

Great game, bad system

I was about to give this game five stars until I started struggling with the currency a little too much. I noticed that once I replaced my low-level corals with higher level corals, my coin situation started getting a lot worse, so I did some calculations. It turns out that the most basic corals give more coins per minute than the rarest corals. For example, the common green staghorn and purple finger corals give 15 coins a minute, while the rare branching table coral gives 8 coins a minute, even at max level. Aren’t rarer corals supposed to be better than the starting ones? Isn’t the whole point of collecting high-level corals supposed to be to make the rising costs easier to manage? I’ve seen a couple of games use this backwards system, where waiting longer/investing more gives less rewards, but I don’t think a game like this should be doing the same; because other than this, I have no complaints.

Splash: Ocean n Reef building fun!

I'm having such fun with this little app. Very impressive ntm addicting. There have been a few glitches... i.e. Game wouldn't load for days, and for several weeks it was impossible to buy even the smallest amount of Splash bucks but they got fixed eventually. At present, Splash is the first app I open...and the last app I close before going to sleep. Just gotta collect my plant Splash bucks n edibles to keep up. So many of the critters cost so very much, plus getting certain gems n' shells are as scarce as game-playing funds are when living on paltry disability fixed income!
However, you have a real nice game going here. Hope it's around for a long time...especially if Splash rewards become more prolific/Those rare shells-gems appear more frequently/Overall costs come down a bit__more inline with the majority of folks' incomes.
Thank you kindly for this game. 😁

Great game only one issue

So this is the first time that I’ve actually sought out to search and review a game in SplashFishAquarium Store and it’s because of a few reasons. First of all, this is a great way for me to actually have and take care of fish without the having to feed them everyday and clean a tank out. It’s commitment without the commitment which is perfect. Second, it relaxes me. You literally feed, release, and then make more fish. Super easy and thoughtless. Third and perhaps most important is that when I updated my game, something happened and it took all of my coins away. I mean like a large amount. I sent in the concern and within a few hours my coins were back with a message on my account. I mean I don’t know how much better it could get with response time and actually taking time to help me. It took a long time to get those coins! The ONLY reason that I am not giving this five stars is because I think that getting the items later on in the game becomes harder if not impossible to keep getting these new shells and I’m spinning in circles waiting for the other fish to drop them. That is the only thing I have an issue with. There are no bazillion ads that you have to deal with or annoying this or that. Just simple and easy fun. :)

Love this game but now I’m bored

I’ve been playing this for a few years and I love it! It is very relaxing and I can play at my own pace. It is also pretty accurate and I love when I see local species that I’ve handled myself!
I’ve been at max level for a while and unfortunately I’m a little bored. I really wish we could get more space in the reef for decorations and more new regular (non-event) fish. I have hundreds of crab tickets and millions of coins because I have no new fish to unlock. Even the rewards for the max level-ups are pretty lame.
The new octopus event is a great addition and helps with the boredom a little. I wish we had a little more time or more ways to earn the “hurry ingredients” icons. It is hard to beat all levels without buying extras when you have a job and other things going on where you can’t be checking SplashFishAquarium every two hours all day long.

Only 1 problem...

I really enjoy this game, I've been playing it for quite awhile. It's relaxing and my grandkids love to see all the cool fish floating around, I can't seem to keep real fish alive so I'm pretty proud of myself for building this reef. My cat REALLY gets a kick out of it. HAHA! Anyway, the only thing I do NOT like is the drop rate of the gems needed to open up new decoration spots. Of the 6 I have available at my current level, 4 of them require 10 of the same thing. There is only 1 species of fish that drop it and very, very rarely do they drop 1, even with multiple fish of that species, which is also hard to reach because the odd ball gem required to create THAT species rarely gets dropped by the one fish I need it from. That part is extremely frustrating. So, my suggestion to support is to either up the drop rate, or change the requirements for the decor slots so they don't have as many slots with the same requirements. I will continue playing and when I can't create anything else, or run out of challenges, I will start all over again.

4 Stars

Update to my previous review:
I find this game mostly fun, except for the frustrating moments. Frustrations include the game giving me an impossible mission, without a "plan" or "hint" on how to achieve the mission. I had to abandon a few of those missions. They were ridiculous. I still have some I am waiting to achieve -- that is, waiting until I can get enough fish ingredients, or enough Splashcash, enough coins, etc. The ticket crab usually gives me useless items. It's rare to get a useful item from those tickets. The game tends to give an abundance of "thing A" after I no longer need it. For example there was a shortage of turquoise uncommon gemstones when I needed them; now there are 13 of them.
Previous review:
Splash gives me a little time each day to do something fun, relaxing, and even strategic. There is a strategy involved if you want to achieve each mission without in-game purchases. I have not paid any money to this game. Keeping it free is great! I love the detailed images, the written descriptions of corals and fish, the little wisdom quotes from our turtle guide, and having occasional surprises show up. The only complaint I have so far is someone misspelled “Scorpionfish” in the aquapedia description. Hopefully I have not misspelled anything here. Thank You for reading!

The BEST Aquarium / Fish tank / Underwater game!!

I went through a lot of games before finding Splash. Many were limited in their intricacies of game play. Splash has beautiful graphics, calm music, soothing motion and engaging but not impossible challenges. It is also rewardingly educational! An unexpected bonus as I came to play but have learned more about real fish than I was planning to while really enjoying the gameplay. I especially appreciate the safe feeling while playing. I happen to be terrified of sharks so finding a game I can enjoy the beauty of the underwater world while not hearing or seeing threats is so pleasant. Underwater games can tend toward oppressiveness but Splash managed to create a cheerful scene while maintaining a realism that promotes knowledge of real fish types. Thank you! I hope to play many more games by your team!

I see real hope in this game! Thank youuuu!

I just downloaded this game and have been playing for 10 minutes so far. Haha. I love Aquarium-type games! I absolutely love sea life. I usually delete these type of games after a while because it just gets too expensive cause saving up game money without spending actual money gets too hard, and my fish are always starving because of it. And I end up just closing out of the game and waiting day after day without doing anything just to be able to feed my fish again. I really hope this game is not like that 😖 and I hope my fish will live even if I don’t go back on SplashFishAquarium for a few days lol. So far, it seems not too unreasonably hard to feed my fish, so I’m happy. I see hope for this game. I also like that this game seems up to date and always updating, so I know it won’t just be thrilling up to a point. I’m feeling really good about this one so far ☺️

Right away I would suggest to have button for us where we can just go see all of the fish we released into the ocean! Without having to feed them or anything, just to see our ocean and our progress so far. Maybe we can take pictures of that too. I think that would be really nice ☺️

Hidden Idle Gem (No forced ads)

I downloaded this game when my girlfriend needed a friend to add and send gifts to for the rewards. 3 months later safe to say the game has kept me entertained and excited to see what comes next. The time it takes to get new fish and upgrades (FTP) is slow, but so will be the change needed to reverse the harmful consequences humans have had on the oceans in real life. All the fish, and coral are actually out there, you can look up the genus and species to see what the models were designed after. It’s fun, rewarding, educational, and all around a good game to give 5-10 minutes here and there to. Sometimes I find myself just listening to the ocean and watching the fish. The events are always ongoing and actually feel like they give you good enough motivation to get the best rewards. One of the best idle games ever. Give it a shot.

I oFISHally love this game!

If you’re looking for a cute fish game, look no further. I’ve been hooked for a while 😅 The graphics are smooth, but the actual aquatic life?!?! The way you capture the likeness of the creatures, I appreciate. It doesn’t get much cuter. Although, the other games I play by this developer might be cuter…which is saying a lot because oh man, this game is adorable. And it’s only crashed once on me, but I didn’t lose anything. Just had to replay the last turn I took, so I was grateful.

There are two things I don’t like.
1. Not enough events. I feel like the butterfly game has more events, and I really want them to have the same standards because how spoiled would I be 😍

2. The lack of and amount of time it takes to collect needed items is a huge bummer. I’m actually about to abandon a mission (which also, can I make a suggestion?) because I’ve been stuck for like a week and a half, and I don’t have actual money to spend to play 😭

My suggestion for the missions though!! I think you should have an explanation for ALL of the missions (besides gaining xp). Some of them, and some of the explanations now, are really confusing. Only some, so it isn’t a big deal, but not everyone has the ability to problem solve 😅

Great game! Great developer! I love taking time out of my day to play their games 😂♥️

Underrated Minimal Add Game, Marine Biologist approved

TLDR; Minimal adds and very good for a management mobile game! If you wanted to play a fun maintenance tomogatchi type game this is 100 percent for you, especially if you like marine science or fish in general. I feel like I almost lost my mind looking for a game that didn’t have adds any other minute- this one seems to have 0 mandatory adds! Its a fun spin and not as stressful as most management games. You can also learn about the types of fish and their behaviors which is accurate to their real life counter parts. I can tell the devs put a lot of love and research into this game, and I hope they keep it this way with the minimal adds. It makes me more inclined to choose to watch the video adds when I want so I can support them.
I saw a few negative reviews complaining about bugs, but those are from a few years ago and I think they have been patched up. Great job guys!

Been playing this game for about a year!

I really enjoy this game! I have spent maybe $5 for some extra splash cash this year but can easily play this game without paying anything and not feel like I’m missing out. They also don’t have any unwanted ads which is HUGE! Multiple times a day they have 2 types of shells show up. Both hold rewards. 1 is free w/o watching ads and the other requires 5 “splash cash” in game currency (which is pretty easy to get) OR you watch an ad. I never spend my “splash cash” on it and will either watch the ad or just skip that specific shell. They also have an optional ad prize wheel where you watch an ad and spin. You won’t miss out on much if you don’t choose to use it but I usually do it a few times a week. Never are there ad popups or ads in menus etc, it’s only if you choose to watch one - and the game doesn’t make it where you really need to do it like others do. My favorite event happens a few times a month and it’s when you can win new fish from Maisie the Octopus.

🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Wow… just wow… I’m completely blown away by SplashFishAquarium… Let me first just say I love you guys so much because you can clearly see the hard work and dedication that y’all put into SplashFishAquarium! You beautiful souls deserve so much for your efforts to keep SplashFishAquarium updated frequently and to ensure it never gets old… Honestly, if I was in charge of giving out one billion dollars to whichever app I thought was the best, I’d choose this one… from the beautiful artistry of the marine life, to the in depth facts of the creatures of the ocean… y’all are beautiful people… truly… I don’t even know how or why, but SplashFishAquarium sends me on an underwater vacation from the world above the surface. I feel like, if I just close my eyes, I’ll find myself underwater, in the ocean and swimming with the fish! Can you just imagine me giving you just such a big hug and high-five? Amazing isn’t even enough to describe the truly inspirational and elegant aura SplashFishAquarium carries around with it… it’s just so perfect! Please add more sharks, that’s all I ask… Thanks, - Savannahcat101 (AKA Dr. West the marine biologist)

Protect our reefs!

My second game from this developer after Starlight! Love nature-themed games that respect science—the fish are real species, not some random color combinations.

At first I’m worried that this is just Starlight in a different ecosystem; as much as I love Starlight, I don’t want to play two exact same games. But there are differences, such as in Splash it’s the decorations that earn the coins, the missions come to you one by one, there’s a camera to take snapshots, and so on. I wasn’t into this game at first and let it sit for two months, but now I log in 5-6 times a day. The rare gemstones to create the fish are really rare, and I love the challenge!

One improvement I would ask for is: Please make the species information page more readable! It would be helpful if we can zoom in and out. The species’ scientific name is in a small green script that is especially unreadable. Yes, there are nerds like me who want to see the Latin name!
