No longer works with my hardware

I bought a blood pressure monitor and it said to use HealthDiary. It mostly worked but the sync took forever to their servers, so HealthDiary was terribly written, and I disabled most of it except for the BP. But after the latest iOS updates, HealthDiary shows the splash screen for several seconds and then quits, it won’t fully open. Now I’m stuck with a BP monitor I can’t sync to my Apple Health history. On top of that I’m seeing other reviews saying they’ve done a bait and switch and won’t even sync data to Apple Health without paying; this was free and is the reason I bought the monitor, for Apple Health compatibility.

HealthDiary is written so poorly, if it ever works again I would never consider paying for it; I feel like the developer should maybe pay me for the time I spent keeping my phone awake to sync the first few times. And it sounds like I may be stuck with buying another blood pressure monitor that has an app that still works and is included, especially if it never works again.

Really unusual to have an app be this actually terrible and then to quit working entirely, especially with a paid hardware device I’m stuck with.

Cannot connect and cannot contact them

This is the worse waste of money when there are a ton of cheaper and better options. I payed extra for the Bluetooth connectivity and I can connect all types of products to my iPhone but not this blood pressure cuff. Garbage!

I have seen in this thread that the company maybe looking forward to a $35/yr for the Bluetooth connectivity and I did lose connectivity at the end of 2023. After I contacted the company I received a simple email with the obvious Bluetooth connection procedures. Then they dropped the mic. Without troubleshooting recommendations. If it’s about $35 they should have made this clear! Frustrating to say the least but a lesson for the future. I have it for less than 6 months and not worth reaching out for a refund or trouble shooting.

The Old Bait & Switch

After thorough research, I settled on their BP machine solely because it is Apple Health compatible. About 3 weeks in, they moved Apple Health to a premium feature. Without that feature, it becomes a basic BP monitor. Most apps grandfather previously purchased app features in.

I don’t even take my blood pressure regularly because looking at the machine fills me with so much resentment. . .

Next, I speculate displaying the actual measurements will be a premium feature too.

App used to be ok, now it is crap!

Why is HealthDiary SO slow? When I first installed it, it was fine, a little slow uploading data, but tolerable. I can’t get it to do ANYTHING now. Takes FOREVER just to scroll. What has happened? I thought it was doing something internally with my data on my iPhone 12 PRO, so I installed a copy on my iPad 8, no data, just app. Can’t even get a response out of that install. What have you done to HealthDiary? It is useless in it’s current form!

Bait & switch, made an essential previously free feature paid

Data sync with Apple Health used to be a free feature, I have been using it successfully with my Oxiline X Pro blood pressure monitor for months. With the new version released last week the sync feature appears to have been locked behind the premium paywall. So disappointed. Total bait and switch. Can’t even switch to a different app, MedM is HealthDiary for my (very expensive) blood pressure monitor. This is app development 101, you don’t suddenly start charging for existing features that used to be free. You charge for new value-add features.

Bait and Switch- Buyer beware!

When I first purchased my blood pressure monitor I purchased it because it was advertised as working with iHealth. And it did flawlessly until 3 months later when an update pushed out. Now it is a subscription to sync my data with iHealth that costs $5.99/month. The only thing this subscription would do for me is help me avoid typing in the data myself!!! That is completely unreasonable and petty and price gouging corporate greed. I wish I could return this device and go with another company. I would pursue a class action suit against this company’s company, but they are not worth my time. My advice: do not buy anything from this company.

Not accurate and requires paid subscription to share data to Apple health infrastructure

If you use multiple health apps/devices, and expect to see integrated health data, this device is going to cost 35$ a year on a subscription plan. While it does Bluetooth your BP to its own app for free, you have to subscribe to their plan in order to get the info into Apple’s HEALTH app. I don’t think that should cost 35$ a year and the only way I want to see my health data presented to me is in HEALTH app.

As a result, I had to enter the readings manually in the Apple HEALTH app. If this devise is your only source of BP data, maybe it’s good enough. But other apps have other algorithms to analyze info derived from blood pressure readings, such as pulse and HRV that provide information that is beyond the scope of HealthDiary.

Finally, one star because this device consistently overstated my BP against a reference BP cuff (by Omron - checked at my doctor’s office). Had I believed this wrist cuff’s data I might have created a low BP situation by attempting to medicate/reduce what was actually normal BP. That’s just dangerous.

Removed functionality

Bought their blood pressure monitor because it was supposed to sync to profiles (extra charge). Well guess they removed that functionality so might as well return The BPM. Not worth the money … the seems to work if all you want is basic sync… but wouldn’t spend money. I’ll be initiating a refund after writing this due to false advertising

Changed ability to sync with Apple Health

I thought HealthDiary was great. I got HealthDiary and bought a compatible device to take my blood pressure specifically because I wanted to sync it with Apple health. It worked fine for almost a year. I recently went in to sync up my Health App again and now I’m told I have to pay for a subscription. Not happy with that change.

Best app to record and store your health data!

I wanted to take the time to express how thoroughly pleased I am with the MedM Health Diary app!
I am 65 years old with type 2 diabetes and occasional high blood pressure. I was in search of a health app that would allow me to keep record of both, as well as my weight and daily steps - and that would sync with Apple Health and my meter. I decided to download several apps and to try them all for a week - deleting them as I went along when they didn’t do what I wanted them to do! MedM was the clear winner after only two days! HealthDiary syncs to my meter and is so user friendly when I need to input other data manually. And all of my Apple Health data has a place in HealthDiary too!
I am so happy with HealthDiary and recommend it to everyone who likes to have all of their health data in one spot - that is easy to use and has a great customizable dashboard that shows the health info you want to see at a glance when you open HealthDiary .
HealthDiary helps me keep track of all my health info in one great place!

App not synchronizing time change

App not synchronizing time change. Also I check my BP on two other monitors 3-times daily. The Oxiline monitor sometimes has the same readings as the other two, but most times the measurements are somewhat lower.
Also, app would be extremely helpful if it registered readings from my Libre CGM.

Oxiline Pressure XS Pro

Can HealthDiary support the XS pro or only the X pro? Update, I updated for such a quick response. I will again try to connect my XS Pro to MedM as when I tried before it was not listing such as one of the supported devices. Can you advise if I have the device connected to two different apps at the same time or only one?

Great App but one glaring deficiency

I really like HealthDiary and love that it connects via Bluetooth. The data I do enter manually is easy to do as well. I really like that you can choose what you see on your dashboard as well. The one glaring deficiency is the ability to change the order of items displayed on the dashboard. It’s rather irritating that I can’t put things I use daily at the top rather than having to scroll down. It really makes me want to not track things like blood pressure which I only update a couple times a year but wouldn’t mind having the info because it pushes weight which I enter daily way down.

A Suggestion Regarding Irregular Heartbeat

Would it be possible, for those devices which are capable of detecting an irregular pulse, to indicate in the summary list which readings showed an irregular pulse? That way a person can look at a series of measurements and get an idea how often and for how long a pulse was irregular without drilling down on every one.

Easy but. . .

So I got he app got it set up and then realized it only had my blood pressure device. I wanted to add my iWatch, Medtronic mini med insulin pump and my Dexcom CGM. Help? Is there a way to do this? I cannot use App,e Health it is not yet compatible with Dexcom CGM.

THANKS, Karin

Perfect. Oxiline Pulse XS Pro and MedM app.

My days of writing my o2 levels and BPM as well as how I feel and if I'm currently using supplimental o2 are done. My wife, an MSN has requested I keep all this information several times a day. Any idea how tedious and boring that is. It's now just a touch and a few quick spoken words and finished. Ba-da-bing. This is to easy. Whoever designed this deserves a huge pay grade increase. If your Dr. tells you that you need to start monitoring your o2 several time a day, get this system. You won't be disappointed.

Great app, amazing support

HealthDiary interface is clean and consistent acorss platforms which is what you want if you are indeed using it on several platforms like me. The cloud sync carries the data accurately between platforms and maes it accessible via the web. Ran into some data sync problems that turned out to be a misunderstanding of Apple Health on my part but I got immediate responses from support as they worked to resovle what turned out to be my non-issue.

Doesn’t work for me.

I’ve been using the MedM Health app to record and monitor my BP readings for almost 2 years. I take a reading 4 times every day. Before the latest update HealthDiary in the Week display provided a graph of and the actual numbers for daily average. Now the Week display shows all of the many individual readings and an average for the week. Also provided is a concocted (high and low systolic and diastolic numbers for the week combined) maximum and minimum. The situation is the same for the Year display, no monthly averages and fabricated maximum and minimum readings for the year. Sorry, this does not work for me.

UPDATE: After I left my critical review I started a search for a MedM Health replacement. I spent hours studying blood pressure app descriptions, comments, and reviews. Then I downloaded and tried a few of the better candidates. My findings caused me to return to MedM Health and make the best of it.

Now, here comes another update that enables me to revert to the setup that works for me. I am a happy camper! Thank you MedM Health team for responding to my concerns. Keep up the good work.

I’ve adjusted my rating to reflect recent developments.

Easy to set up

This MedM app connected easily and quickly with my Oxiline blood pressure monitor, and it works in the background to maintain a record of my BP readings. It is simple and effective. My one request to the developers would be to add a way to make notes on BP readings. I’m adjusting my meds and would like to record what dose I was taking for specific BP readings.

The best way to consolidate data from smart devices by different manufacturers

I’ve started using HealthDiary recently and I highly recommend it even if no smart devices are involved: manually entering measurements (weight, temperature, blood pressure, notes) is easy and pushing data to Apple Health works very well. But HealthDiary really shines when it comes to directly integrating a number of different brands and devices. It’s truly impressive! All of that without annoying ads. I had a minor issue connecting to my Omron VIVA scale: it didn't work very well, but I was able to connect it to MedM Weight app and get the data through it.
But the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it doesn't support my BP ( Omron M7 Intelli IT, HEM-7322T). I’ll gladly change my evaluation if support for that ever gets added.

Update: 08/May/2020
I was able to exchange my BP monitor to the X7 Smart and the new device works beautifully with HealthDiary . Great job! I’m changing my initial review to 5 stars. 🙂
Also, I forgot to mention another cool aspect: the Health MedM website. A central place to see and share the data collected by the apps. It's also possible to export the data in different formats. It would be nice if we could generate a report with the text from the Notes, like we can with the other measurements.
