Elegant and astonishing

I really had no idea what to expect as I began this game. Gently, as one might begin a study of Qigong, or Tai Chi, you are led into understanding by the teachings of a great master. You can play this game at the surface level of an arcade, but if one breathes deeply and enters the spirit of the study, one is rewarded by an extraordinary experience. The heartbeat of an entire culture is woven into the experience of this journey. Like the study of a Chinese Martial Art, there is no frustration in an inability to complete a scenario. Rather there is the patient search for the right timing and the correct technique, and there is the reward of discovery, until one is challenged by the next level.
I will be sad to complete all the scenarios, but I know that I will simply start the journey again and again, searching each time for a deeper understanding and more confident solutions.

The graphics are both simple and flawless, and the sounds are a perfect accompaniment to the actions. This is an application to be savored, not simply played.

Totally Functionless

First screen of the tutorial—swipe anywhere and release... Uh-huh. That’s the beginning and the end of this game because no matter what you do you will never leave that screen. Broken software.

Amazing!

At first I wasn't quite sure to buy this game, but I'm glad I did.

The art work is amazing with traditional calligraphy strokes and translation is also pretty accurate so one can learn few Chinese as well. The back story is interesting although I haven't gotten that far.

The play of swiping to kill other swords will take u for a ride. It's way better than the ninja fruits with senseless swipe but this game have more purpose. One start off with training with the brush strokes and then moving to short stages of striking out other lines. I've gotten to stage 3 where one have to follow the arrows and that's as far as I've gotten. This is amazing game for $2.99 which is definitely worth the price of admission.

Best Chinese themed game ever!!

I do have to admit that this game is extremely short and could be improved with some multiplayer modes. But please do not value this game with only conventional standards. The game tells a great great story and has a lot to learn from it. Ancient Chinese philosophy blended in engaging gameplay adds up to a level that no other Chinese themed game can reach. If you are looking for a fast paced fruit ninja game, this is not your best choice. But if you want to understand ancient Chinese values and peace within the chaos through games, this is your thing. Terrific graphics, flowing storyline and inventive game design add up to only 3 bucks. What else are you expecting from an iPhone game?

Patience Grasshopper

This is really an awesome experience. I love the art, story and music too. Each level is fresh the mechanics keep on changing. But note that this game is designed to challenge you so be prepared.

Roaring was probably the hardest level for me. When you get further where you need to shoot leaves, remember to hold down to shoot the leaves further. Took me a while to figure that out.

Not 3 dollars worth of fun, but fun!!!

I really do like this game! I do wish it was longer though. I can beat it at the novice difficulty in under ten minutes. So?? There you go... Any other setting if just too frustrating, mostly because you must keep starting from the beginning of the round!! Well worth .99 dollars but THAT'S IT!!!
I do hope that they will lengthen the game with more options in the future. I've played it twice and don't see me playing it again until they do.

Fantastic

The intuitive and ever changing gameplay makes this a quite challenging game. Not only that, but it has beautiful graphics and music. It does take patience, but it was well worth my money.

Interesting, low replay, difficult

I would describe this game as an action puzzle game. You learn basic mechanics, but are left on your own when encountering new swords (stages).

I beat the game on novice (easy) in 30-40 minutes. Replaying consists of playing specific stages or all over again at a higher difficulty. This game is very difficult. Levels above easy appear to be impossible on certain stages.

I was expecting an action arcade type of game to replay, get better, get higher scores etc. This game is more for the experience of the art and audio while getting the "ah-hah!" Moment. It'll be a game you beat once then maybe show your friends before deleting it.

Darklings is a similar game I'd recommend. Nuanced clear swiping, but more arcade.

Adequate at best

While interesting for the first few minutes it lacks the body needed to make a 'fun' game. It has an interesting take on the finger swipe mechanic but it's not inherently unique enough to make this game a gem. The calligraphy is nice and peaceful but really that's all there is to it. This game is also very, very, short with little to no replay value. The price is a little too high for a game of this caliber. I would recommend this, but only for a lowered price or free.

Okay game, not worth money

When I got this game I expected it to be like it actually is. However, the game is way to short, and you are just expected to play it over and over again. When you get to the realm of no sword it is not clear what you are supposed to do on some levels, and it makes some levels extremely hard to beat. If this game were free it would have better reviews, but it's definitely not worth 3 dollars.

Fun, but short.

This game was a nice experience, but I finished it in less than an hour. There is very little replay value, and I feel like I wasted $3. There are a lot of better games than this for the same price. If this game were longer and had a larger variety of tasks to complete, perhaps it would be worth the money.

Best mobile game by far

This game nails all aspects of a good mobile game, simple yet enticing concept that keeps evolving along with the story, and the music is so well made and makes the experience so epic.

By

Short but masterful

Gameplay is a little like Fruit Ninja, but grown-up. Beautiful, insightful, epic. Quite short though. If an amazing 1-2 hour game is worth $3 to you, grab it!

By

Not worth $3

I admit, the graphics was really Chinese and interesting. But the game is extremely short, no replay value and could have more content and instructions. It is great design and concept, but the whole story goes by really fast, I finished the whole game in 20 minutes.

Get this

Ride in to the mountains is one of the best apps out there and this is a game of equal quality. These guys just know how to make games that are cool and fun to play. Cheers

Beautiful game

The art and music are beautiful and the gameplay is solid. Top notch

By

Frantic and pointless, despite being well made

Attention to detail is great, but just swiping frantically u till I win is not interesting enough for me. I never felt "good" at this game, even though I finished it.

Awesome - I need more

We need more. I would be willing to spend extra on dlc

Beautiful and challenging

It's an eloquent game that takes patience and quickness at the same time.
