Yet Another Great App Gets Greedy With Unnecessary Mandatory Subscription Pricing

This was a great app that I was very happy with. I purchased the “ad free” option in November 2017 and had no issues with it until March 2019. It was updated with very minor compatibility and feature updates about a half dozen times between those two dates. In March 2019, I get a notice via a software update note that my permanent “ad free” option was being discontinued at the conclusion of 2019 and that I would now need to pay the same amount as the old permanent “ad free” option on a yearly basis to keep my “ad free” benefits active. I no longer trust this developer after this stunt. “Caveat emptor” indeed.

Widget keeps freezing

I have a 12 pro Max don't phone is pretty up to date. I bought the paid version as I thought it was worth the small fee. I set the biggest widget up but encountered 2 big issues. First, it only shows the first 12 cities from WorldClockTimezoneConverter and I have 48 in there. This would be fine if the widget itself would scroll onscreen but it doesn't. To see any timezones beyond what the widget shows, you have to open WorldClockTimezoneConverter . Second, the widget keeps freezing. I removed the widget and reinstalled. Now it's stuck with a bunch of dots and no times showing. I don't know what to do. Great concept. Fix these issues and my score would be much better. Right now it's not even functional.

Needs help

Just started using WorldClockTimezoneConverter. It’s ok but could use some tweaks. WorldClockTimezoneConverter immediately wants you to upgrade to the “premium” version. But there’s no details about what the premium version offers that isn’t in the free version. 2. When you want to send the authors a question, the minute you tap into the field to insert your name, the field is obscured by some remark that has no reason for being there. It’s like the field you are trying to type into scrolls up and out of sight.
3. Other minor issues that say, “The author didn’t really drive this thing around very much before publishing it and wanting people to upgrade to an unknown.

Pay!?!

First of all you have to pay for almost everything and what you don’t have to pay for you can simply just go on the already installed “clock” app I downloaded WorldClockTimezoneConverter because I wanted to use what they call “time travel” feature while I tried to access it it said upgrade to use this feature so I thought it meant update WorldClockTimezoneConverter instead it was trying to make me pay 3.99 no this is not to much but it says nothing about paying I am having so much difficulty trying to find a app with the “time travel” feature for free because I want it so I can access it quickly because I feel that I will not use it enough to pay for it

Widget is wonky

Why can’t this widget be moved at all? It can not be moved on the widget page or onto the home page. Please update.
Not only does the widget not move it doesn’t even look like the widget in the screenshots.

Update. I see for some reason two versions of this widget can pop up when you try to add it. One will not look correct and will not be moveable. One will be visually correct and moveable but still have issues.
For example when I choose the “four top time zones horizontally” option I am only shown two time zones. I’ve found a way to fix this is to restart the phone, delete the widget, and reset the themes.

World Clock: Minimal Performance For Lots Of $$$$

I understand that widgets that provide convenience have value. I don’t object to app authors making money on their brainchildren. What I do object to is what seems to be the new world order wherein app makers rent the use of their apps rather than selling them for a fixed price.

Something simple like world time is a relatively simple concept. The info to figure it out is readily available for free. The ability to sync the timing of an international meeting is a convenience. Why the authors expect me to rent the function for $0.99/month ongoing is beyond me. I’d consider paying $0.99 for the fully loaded app outright, but $12 a year for the upgrade to enable that? C’mon. The rest of the upgrade package doesn’t have enough merit to impress.

Why a yearly subscription?

My draw to WorldClockTimezoneConverter was to have a world clock in the widgets screen as the built in clock app in iOS doesn't for the widgets or control screens. I only am reviewing WorldClockTimezoneConverter on the widget screen display and WorldClockTimezoneConverter screens needed to edit the clocks.

Pro::
*) Easy read for widgets screen.
*) Easy add/edit in app.
*) Nice night/day color theme on analog display.
*) Settings change from widgets screen - nice

Con:
*) No displayed date: day only on digital, nothing on analog. Inconvenient for global needs.
*) No sort - display is “as added” only - why no re-order?

Neutral:
*) ads/nags - a bit much, but as one probably isn't in WorldClockTimezoneConverter hourly, not a huge deal.
*) Widgets screen only has three slots; 4 is standard.

I rate 3 stars (instead of four) /only/ on the fact that the ad remove is a yearly subscription - not a one time purchase. This is a very basic clock app with not much over the built-in other than the widget ability. I’d happily toss a one-time $.99 buy to kill ads, but not $2, nor $2 yearly.

Premium will not unlock

Based on the reviews, and my desire for a clock that allows 24 hour time, I downloaded this and immediately purchased the premium membership. However, every time I try to change the color WorldClockTimezoneConverter tells me that my action requires a premium membership; a membership I’ve already bought. I’ve tried the “Restore” function several times to no avail, and all I want to do is change the color of the widget on my screen. That said, I’m using WorldClockTimezoneConverter with iOS14.2 beta and perhaps the developers haven’t made the changes yet to allow full functionality. Other than the aforementioned, it’s a nice widget; clean, simple and useful.

Perfect, but...

I really like my World Clock app. Everyday, it's a stellar quick reference. I'm a 40-year veteran of international business travel. Yeah, one of those 250k air miles a year guys that international business class flight attendants know without looking at the manifest. I love clocks, watch complications, to be specific. Am I losing you Apple wearable fans (not a watch...period). Lewis, Lewis, Lewis, shaking my head. Why do you punish me with digital displays in the widget! Ugh!!! I can't give you five stars for abusing me with digital. Very pleased to be a Premium user. Thanks.

Stop confusing yourself

I work with teams across multiple time zones and have family in Australia. Converting time is always a major hassle and when I finally realized an app could solve my problem the world got better. This is probably the simplest and most useful app I’ve ever used. I open it at least 5 times on an average day and at least a dozen when traveling. And pay for premium. Just do it.

A Useful Utility

I typically only use WorldClockTimezoneConverter from my widgets but being deployed and trying to keep track of various schedules like bank hours, when my kids or friends are awake is a nightmare until I used WorldClockTimezoneConverter. It wonderful to be able to glance at the current time here & there and using the "time machine" feature to plan when I can talk or message friends and family. This was a easiest five stars I have ever gave. Great Job and thanks to the dev!

World clock

I love WorldClockTimezoneConverter because I can see time in different parts of the world from west and Europe to Middle East and Asia and now in IOS 14 with widgets its easier to see time in different countries. But the only negative point is that sometimes widgets freeze and the clocks stop showing current time and the time which they show is for last 3 or 2 hours. Please fix this problem. Thanks for your awesome application 🙂🙏🏻

Great app, clean, and simple.

WorldClockTimezoneConverter works great and the time +\- feature is great as well, so I can know what time it will be without needing to do the math. The interface is clean and readable which makes it very useful (instead of trying to do too many different things). The fact that I can see everything in the widget is perfect, the only time I go into WorldClockTimezoneConverter is to add a time zone. If you communicate with anyone in another part of the world, this is where it’s at.

Display seconds?

This is the best time zone widget on WorldClockTimezoneConverter Store, and the developers are really reading our suggestions and acting on them. Now the clocks in the widget are perfectly spaced, thanks!

June 29th update: I still love WorldClockTimezoneConverter very much but the older widget had a smaller footprint when displaying two rows (8 time zones) on an iPhone. On an iPad this matters less to me because I can live with just 6 time zones on one row in the non-expanded view.
Also, I upgraded WorldClockTimezoneConverter right when it came out but now I see a message to upgrade in the widget. I cannot find where to restore my purchase in the menu...

Aug. 18th update: much better widget size, thank you for listening to users feedback.

Just a suggestion: how about an option to display three time-zones per row in the widget (instead of 4), but with the seconds?

Great app!

If you loved the analog world clocks that Apple used to include in iOS, and were disappointed when Apple eliminated them in a recent 10.x iOS upgrade, then WorldClockTimezoneConverter is for you! Also, if you love nice, clean design and appreciate the beauty of proportional based fonts, not the ginormous, disproportionate fonts Apple now uses in its worldclocks and elsewhere in iOS, then you'll love WorldClockTimezoneConverter even more. Easy to read, elegant design in both form and function. Well done app team! Thanks!

P.S. if there's just one thing I could ask for you to add to the analog clocks, it would be to add a red second hand.

Simplicity-Functionality....and More

Without a doubt, this is a tool that performs just exactly what you require of it. As opposed to other world time apps, this one has many more city references so you don’t have to find another city in the same time zone. The simple yet pleasing customizable interface let’s you personalize the display. What is most unusual is the customer service. Any inquiry or problem is answered promptly by the developer himself, which is refreshing to say the least.

App locked up

At first I was very pleased with WorldClockTimezoneConverter… multiple time zones, useful widget, syncs via iCloud, ability to customize the city names (I use airport codes). But less than an hour of use, WorldClockTimezoneConverter locks up and I can no longer edit the order of cities in my list, nor can I delete any cities from my list. Same problem on my iPhone and iPad.
Update: very quick response from dev. Followed there guidance and just reinstalled WorldClockTimezoneConverter . Works great now!

Excellent Application!

I gladly paid the $1.99 Premium feature minutes after installing the application on my 11-inch iPad Pro.

Like the capability of being able to choose between Analog Clock and Digital and that the theme changes apply to the widget as well.

Love the capability of being able to change the time between multiple cities (by using the slider) and immediately seeing the changes in real time- this is very helpful when calculating what a past/future time might be in relation from one city to another.

The seconds feature sealed the deal for me...

Highly recommend this application! The $1.99 yr. was a no-brainer and I would definitely encourage the developer to keep updates (if/when) in regards to this application, have no issue with subscriptions to good developers that come out with good applications at a reasonable price.

Overall impressive, good alternative to Apple Clock

I have tested WorldClockTimezoneConverter for a little over 20 minutes and I can already say that I am quite impressed.

The inclusion of analog clocks is a good selling point for those that don’t like the digital clock in the newer iOS versions. I really appreciate the less restrained limit on time zones. (is there even a limit? :D) And I absolutely adore the ability to change the name of the zone completely, to fit it to one’s liking; this can really come in handy for family members in different regions of the world.

One small criticism I have, which does not affect the rating, is (in the donate pop-up) the inclusion of the times WorldClockTimezoneConverter was opened. It gets pretty redundant after a while.

I’d love to donate but unfortunately I am unable to at the time of my writing this review. Though you do get my kudos for WorldClockTimezoneConverter, in the form of 5 sweet stars. :)

Best multi-time zone app I’ve tried

I went through a few of time zone apps on the AppStore, and this is the one that stuck. The compact widget is the first item on my home screen, and allows me to see time zones for all the countries I work with, as well as my family’s time at a glance. The premium features for WorldClockTimezoneConverter are well worth the extra money. It’s nice to customize the look of the widget, as well as be able to compare time zones in multiple locations for easy meeting scheduling. Developers are super responsive as well, and have helped me resolve a minor bug without delay.
