Sleep Sounds Reviews

I’ve been using the free version of SleepSounds for years. I just want rain and ocean. Nothing fancy. But recently, it started up with ad pop ups and now it’s super glitchy. The sounds shut off randomly and I have to fiddle with it for several frustrating minutes to work every night. I’m ready to buy a sound machine and give up. And no, I’m not upgrading this glitchy piece of garbage. I don’t want all the bells and whistles. Just the basics please, with no hassle.

I have used SleepSounds since 2015. A week or so ago, I opened it and found that it was trying to charge me a second time for the extra sounds/no ads package that I had bought several years ago. I received no response. I emailed again, suggesting that if I did not receive a response I would get a lawyer involved because I do not appreciate not receiving a service that I paid for. Rory, the developer, sent me a rude email in response that did not actually give me a solution to continue using SleepSounds with the features I had paid for. With so many sleep sounds options on the market, I will switch to one where I feel respected and don’t have to threaten legal action to get a response to what I had assumed would be a minor problem.

Loud loud ads on a program designed to help you sleep, when you click on anything! SleepSounds has some nice features. I’ve had it for years, but lately the ads are completely ridiculous. I start it when I go to bed and sometimes I need to adjust the volume on a sound after a bit and BLAM super loud ad waking up my wife, and of course with those impossible to close buttons. I honestly don’t recall if I ever paid to remove the ads, had it for a long time, but they definitely make SleepSounds unusable now. Also, it would be nice to be able to save sound/volume combinations. I always had it play Rain, Storm, and Wind but with Storm and Wind way lower, but it always resets them back up.

I see that you have read my previous review! Thx for doing that! No app that I have ever written a review for has not yet responded. Anyway, I see that you fixed the loading screen! But that night, I went to my mom and dad’s room and they downloaded a better one for me. I forgot what it’s called but you can create mixes of up to 6 sounds and all sounds are free! I am currently listening to my usual, forest (Birds In A Forest), river (River In Scotland), and fire (Crackling Fireplace). I loved SleepSounds but I may use the new one a bit more and see which one I like better. Thank you for reading! If you have questions or concerns, please let me know via response to this review! Okay, look, SleepSounds is great... but only if I stick to my phone. I purchased the upgrade to remove ads and unlock more sounds on my phone ages ago, but whenever I try to restore the purchase via my iPad, it tries to prompt me to make the purchase all over again. With most apps, if you make a purchase on one device, that also applies to any other devices that use your iCloud account, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. So as I mostly use the unlockable sounds and don't have much use for the free ones by themselves, the iPad app is pretty much a waste of space for me. Please fix this.

The cricket noise reminds me of the summer nights at home. I have a hard time falling asleep but since I found SleepSounds I am relaxing quicker and falling asleep a lot faster than normal. I have checked other apps but they just weren't right. They just sounded like a bunch of crickets sitting in front of a microphone. This one sounds like a clear summer night with crickets all around the property; some close and some near. This is what I remember hearing when I would go to sleep as a child. ❤️ love it!! Only draw back is the loop is so short. You can tell when it starts and ends.

Love SleepSounds. I only wish there was a way to save the sounds you create to use again so you don't forget them and so they are extremely easy to access when needed quickly/right away! My daughter who is 8 still loves and I actually need it to help myself get to sleep now that I’m so used to it haha. Just wish it didn’t constantly ask me to rate it every single day that is frustrating but otherwise great app.

I like to have pleasant ambient sound while I sleep. Among my favourite sounds are night time crickets (which Yankees think are better than cicadas) and thunderstorms. Some free apps let you choose one or another to be played alone. With SleepSounds you can play 2 or more with separate volume controls for each sound. So, you can have your rain and your crickets too and mix your own sound level. Sometimes my cats are frightened by the real thing, and they can tell the difference.

Nice app really need a way to reset volume changes. Also if it remembered what channels I selected the last time.

Also a way to set the volume of sounds in addition to the slide bar. I have big fingers, & artists so it hard to se the volume on channels with any sort of definition.

Example: Zen channel - I’d like to set it low(1 or 2) but I’m unable to.

SleepSounds is perfect for tuning out distractions. I use this when I need to focus for hours on work, reading, studying, and writing. It provides a soothing amount of background noise. I paid for the full version (only a couple of dollars) and it has been worth it. I especially love the train cabin and airplane drone. I set a lower volume for these sounds and layer them with rain, storm, and ocean. My volume preferences are saved so I don't have to reset them every time. The ocean sound is perfect, with waves rumbling on a beach and water rolling back while gently tumbling over rocks. Yes, the graphics are simple, but that is an important quality for something that is supposed to be soothing and relaxing. SleepSounds is easy to use and the simple appearance helps to minimize distraction and sets the tone for calming your mind.

I have been using SleepSounds for years and I love it. I always combine sounds so it feels like I’m camping in the most beautiful place. Quit providing boiler plate reviews so people just hit submit. Make them use their words. Your app is worth it.

We brought our five little ones on our first family vacation. SleepSounds was a lifesaver. Kids had wonderful, gentle sounds to lull them to sleep. I liked it so much that we turned it on in our room, too. Ocean was our favorite.

And easily now and even my brother uses it I hope people continue to use SleepSounds and love it as much as I do and thank you for the great app

I really enjoy the feature for dialing the intensity of a sound. For instance, a little chime is soothing, and a natural addition to the wind. But too much chime would keep me awake.
I don’t mind the ads at all. Pretty descent selection of products, and they don’t interrupt the sound presentation.

SleepSounds is a true Godsend! I have MS and have a constant ringing in my left ear that silence only makes worse!
This has allowed me to enjoy doing virtually everything with peace! I also get the added bonus of mixing up where I feel like being, camping in the hills, sitting on the beach or on my porch during a rain storm!

Not only doe SleepSounds have lots of different sounds to choose from but perhaps the best part is how EASY it is to use! You can set a timer to indicate how long you want the sound to play. You can also play more than one sound at a time.

It is so great to have some soothing sounds to fall asleep to!!!

I commute two and a half hours to and from the city every day and this is wonderful to help catch some sleep on the bus, and also fall asleep quickly once I'm finally home. Happily spent the extra money for more sounds and love that you can combine them to make something unique. I use it every day.

One of the only apps I've had on my phone the entire time I've had it. Rain and Storm sounds mix well together and is relatively realistic sounding. I've considered purchasing the premium version multiple times, but can wait the handful of seconds for the ad to pass in order to set the sleep timer. Overall, it does what it's supposed to do and is a great aid when you're trying to fall asleep.

I was having issues with falling asleep and shutting down my brain so I could sleep. My son told me about SleepSounds and he raved about it. I’ve been using SleepSounds for a year now and I get the best sleep. I used this with my then 2 year old granddaughter and within 5 minutes she was fast asleep. Her mother now uses this for herself and my granddaughter. Love it.

Along with constant prayer to Jehovah God, I appreciate this sleep app. It helps calm my heart.

I find that it helps me to calm my running mind. You can choose from different sounds, whatever works to calm your soul.
