Windows

Thought I could put what I wanted in the windows but that was not the case - MorningWeatherToDoNews has specific areas for each window that cannot be changed

Junk app

Could be a great app if it didn’t have the Washington Post on it.

2 stars to push the devs

It's not worth more than .99 right now, considering what's out there. Little annoyances frustrate- the main one is I can't figure out the trick to tapping on the news article "just right" to open the page- and it's often the wrong page if it does open. Also, the "work" timer shouldn't be labeled "work"- let it be for anyplace you're going, to make it more flexible. I like the countdown, weather, and reminders. MorningWeatherToDoNews just needs more to make it worthy of the price. An alarm would be nice, and a package delivery notification, for example. Making me pay to turn it different colors is ludicrous. Besides all that, this is a nice start to a cool-looking one-stop shop.

Really?!

The general idea and execution of MorningWeatherToDoNews is fine and I'd have no regrets of purchase were it not for two RIDICULOUS aspects. First, $4 for what is basically a clock/weather/rss reader and you expect me to pay a dollar for each additional "theme"? Second, to read more than 7 words of a news story it opens up Safari. If I wanted that to happen I'd use Safari.
Until this is fixed MorningWeatherToDoNews is a waste. I'm also very disappointed in AppAdvice for recommending it.
Update: To the guy with the BMW analogy. It's not that $4 is breaking the bank. It's that the average paid app is $.99 but this company deemed MorningWeatherToDoNews worth 4 times more than average. Which it clearly isn't. If I bought a car for $60k which performed as well or worse than a car for $15k then I'd obviously feel ousted all over again. It's not price that concerns me, it's value.

IF you are going to use something like this....

.....then let me kindly offer MY opinion about your money. I saw this on the top of the "productivity" category page and thought "THIS looks like what I've been wanting since I bought an iPad"! I was very excited. Instead of buying it, I did a simple search with the word "Dashboard". Several apps came up, but only the one called "My Dashboard" actually turned out to be what I've wanted.

Friends, I came back to MorningWeatherToDoNews and bought it specifically for the purpose of telling you about "My Dashboard". I do NOT work for them, nor have I been compensated for this review. If you're reading this, you're PROBABLY looking for the same thing I was. "My Dashboard" is SWEET. FAR more customizable, with more options for RSS and social feeds, and it is WAY better looking. MorningWeatherToDoNews COULD turn into something really cool later, but........why wait?

Nice car with no engine...

Pretty and clean interface...reminds me of the now defunct app "Mynd" - sadly, it all goes flat from there. MorningWeatherToDoNews has no real functionality. For example, you can't interact with your calendar appointments, so it is really just a picture of what your calendar has on it. Want to dive into the weather? Can't get more than the temperature. Generally, you need to interact with the data, even with the welcome and sparse GUI...which I prefer. If they can get to that point, it is a hands down winner, but without more function it is just a pretty car without an engine.

Almost but not quite

MorningWeatherToDoNews is a great idea, but as one reviewer said, it's almost like a beta product now. I love the idea of a dashboard, but my main complaint is that the Reminder part doesn't quite work as expected. I would want to see the "Today" tasks listed but you can't select the Today list. Also regardless of what I selected to display from " Reminders" it displays tasks I don't want to see. My other beef are the colors; they are way to bright and the selection is limited. I'd like more of a selection and more subtle or nuanced colors. If they can make these updates it could be a great app. They shouldn't raise the price until they get it to the next level.

Form over function...

and style over substance are the two things that come to mind every time I open MorningWeatherToDoNews. The beautiful design is what lured me in - it's seriously the coolest-looking app I've ever seen - but, unfortunately, the beauty is not that much more than skin deep. The news feed and reminders modules are the least useful. Although it works very nicely with Calendar, I don't like how it interfaces with Reminders. It pulls from all of my Reminders lists and there is no way that I have found to customize it so that it pulls from just a single, designated list that shows the tasks for the day. The news feed pulls random stories only from rss enabled news sources - so partly customizable, but not nearly as useful for me as it could be.

I love the look of it so much that I will undoubtedly continue to use it, but it really should be more functional, especially given the price.

Countdown from calendar events

I wish I had know that the countdown to an event was not linked to the calendar. I am helping someone with dementia caused by a stroke, and she worries all the time she is going to be late. She no longer has the ability to tell 9 is before 10, but she can understand she has an hour to her next appointment. It would be incredibly useful for her if the countdown could be linked to any calendar the ipad supports (internal, Google, .mac, etc). I mistakenly thought a countdown to an event would be a calendar event, or I would not have bought MorningWeatherToDoNews.

If improved this could be great.

The difficulty with MorningWeatherToDoNews is that it's lacking some abilities it promises such as tapping on the news for an expanded version of the headline, or knowing where the weather report is coming from, the origin of the weather description. Could be great I hope they keep developing MorningWeatherToDoNews.

Almost there

We had a weather display unit that showed time and current weather along with five day forecast. When it no longer worked we searched for a replacement with no luck. Like another reviewer we took an old iPad and now have a helpful display of info. I just wish the weather display would show the 10 day forecast. And I’d like to have more and better theme choices. It feels like windows 1995.

Great app with unlimited potential

I purchased this the other day based on looks and because I wanted something I could fire up early in the morning for a daily overview and it worked great. Then as I played with it a bit I saw where it needed some polish. Fast forward to today and I see the update that says the tiles no longer slide. I immediately assume the functionality is gone so I email the devs and get a response in less than an hour. This was no broken English dgaf type response either, it was an honest reply that said "we recognize the issues and are hard at work fixing things." In addition to that they also stated the tiles still can be set individually, you just can't slide them. With that in mind, plus the assurance that certain items like the news links are going to be implemented and various other small changes, I felt much better about the purchase and look forward to some interesting updates in the future. They obviously have a good eye for design so it's just a matter of getting the technology to match the design and then it will be a truly perfect app.

Would be nice to have size customization

Currently everything is fixed, and there’s no way to change size of the box.

Cast Option

Great App. All the info I need. Maybe a twitter feed as well as the news feed? Option to play music? One piece that would be a huge help for me would be the ability to cast to my TV. Something I can look at as I get ready in the mornings.

Great Except one thing

I love pretty much everything about it, except that you can’t input a walking or biking time for your morning commute. I walk to work, but because driving is the only option, the apps time estimate is incorrect :/ If they could fix that, that’d be great

A good way to focus my day

It's true that this is pretty minimalist, as other reviewers have said, but in some ways that's part of its appeal for me. I like being able to see, at a glance, just the task I need to work on next, just my next appointment, etc. It gives me a valuable snapshot of where I'm at in my day at any given moment.

I do wish you could customize it to, for instance, draw to-dos from something other than the reminders app (I use Remember the Milk). I'd also like to be able to edit tasks/events right in MorningWeatherToDoNews . So yes, it would be better if it were more tweakable, but I still find it worthwhile as is.

Weather not loading, otherwise great

I’m using a Gen 2 iPad mini and unable to view weather any longer; while it does load my location no weather data loads. Otherwise this is a fantastic app!

Great, Simple

I have my iPad mini mounted on my dash, just open thus app and I have everything I need right in front of me.

I know people would love more control, maybe fonts, font sizes, colors to dress it up. I think the Simplicity of MorningWeatherToDoNews is the best part.

Only thing I would like to see to improve for me, would be
ADDING MORE APPS- like MS to-dos, email(not to open, just to view what’s in your inbox)

I use it everyday with my Smart Mirror build. Awesome app!

I set up an old jailbroken iPad Mini Smart Mirror build to launch Morning every morning, and every time I come back home. It’s a wonderful way to get at-a-glance information, even from across the room. I realize I may not be the target demographic, but simple dashboard apps like this are hard to come by these days. Awesome job from the devs - please keep it up!

Works well and great support!

I have an iPad sitting on my desk that was unused except for when I was on the go. Morning turned it into an nice status board for my upcoming events, reminders, stocks, and news feeds (which I have custom feeds for status of systems I administer).

When I first installed it, I had a problem with stock information. Within a day Tamper support responded and fixed the issue.

Great product, great support.
