Dumb, Overly Sanitized, Extremely Limited

This is clearly meant to only make profile type pics. All humans are directly front facing and only from the shoulders up. You can use it for other items, I did a few of my cat and a few of some flower photos. All were overtly cartoonish and too cutesy. If the purpose is to let preschoolers make fun pics of themselves as cowboys in front of a mountain with a lighthouse you’re in luck. But if you want interaction between multiple people or even a whole body pic, or want to use parameters like fight, gun, or battle too bad. I tried to create a fight scene between an eel and a tiger and ImagePlayground didn’t recognize the words. This is basically the cheap toy version of an image generator and not worth your time. I’ve been using it in the beta for roughly two months since became available and if Apple just removed it no one would miss it. In fact it would be a service to their customers because no one would have to be disappointed about the time time wasted trying to use it and learning that it’s just trash. It makes me think Apple created this just so they could tell shareholders about the great new product they made without actually innovating and creating a great new product. Another example of how Apple has lost its way the last few years. But I digress. Go ahead, get the beta and try this out. Maybe you’ll love it. I doubt it.

Truly Useless

I like fun AI stuff, and I’ve used other various platforms to generate images, but this one is truly just a waste of phone space. If you could edit the prompt for specific people, that might make it worth it, but it can’t seem to understand even basic instructions. Like, a fairly normal request like telling it to add glasses will put on huge clown frames or distort my face completely.

It also always generates me without lips and one row of very long teeth, even though none of my photos look like that. I was excited about this as the next step for Memojis to make poses and faces, but it can’t understand even the most basic instruction, so I’m not sure what the point is.

Apple Intelligence is truly so disappointing, I know it’s in early stages, but it can’t even do the standard things every other AI platform can do, so it just feels like an annoyance more than anything.

Stop stealing human artists’ work

I’m so sick and tired of this current obsession with “AI”. “AI” stands for “artificial intelligence”; no current bots are actually INTELLIGENT, “AI”
is right now just a meaningless industry buzzword. Text/chat bots are just autocomplete on steroids; they don’t understand the sentences they spit out, they’re just making statistical predictions about what word makes sense to follow the one before it. But art bots are the WORST, because they were trained on the hard work of human artists, usually without those artists providing consent or receiving compensation, and all the bots can do with their training is generate soulless junk. If we must use “AI”, use it to do our menial labor like sweeping floors so that human souls have the spare time and energy to create the art.

TL;DR: Stop with the bots and leave art to human creativity!!

Zero functionality, 2022 quality, insane bugs

ImagePlayground is a joke, and it’s not hyperbole to say that every single employee involved with it in any way should be fired. ImagePlayground refuses to create most images, even for the most benign prompts. My favorite thing is how many bugs there are, like how ImagePlayground forces you to use portrait orientation, but errors pop up behind the dynamic island. That level of ineptness wouldn’t be acceptable on a two person start up, but an in-house team at Apple shipped an app where the only place an error can display is behind the dynamic island?! Every PO/PM involved with this travesty should have their employment terminated immediately.

Past the laughable quality of ImagePlayground itself, the actual images it creates results are awful. Truly lagging behind 2022 midjourney results.

Just useless

What’s really frustrating about this is the censorship of it all. You literally cannot generate a single image of someone that isn’t smiling. An example: If I type in “[person] frustrated while trying to set up a campfire”, you get an image of that person smiling outside. There might be a campfire there, but if there is, it’s been set up just fine and the person is not interacting with it at all. Most prompts are rejected because they might present someone in a situation where they’re not actively being happy. I guess it’s a good app if you want a portrait that kind of looks like someone in your life smiling. That’s about it. The art doesn’t even look good - it just came out and it looks very outdated compared to other image generation tools. I honestly cannot believe they shipped this as a finished product.

Censored

Bottom line is outside of conceptual art pop art is my true love. Try including the images that make up our modern lives and ImagePlayground prevents it. Say goodbye to satire, social commentary or the honest corporate landscape we inhabit. Apple being either is running from anything artistic like we would expect of a corporate juggernaut or so afraid of a lawsuit ( they are so small and broke after all) that protecting anything for satire, criticism, free thought etc.. has become an afterthought if thought of at all. Out of twenty mild attempts two were made having gone so far out of the way to obfuscate my objective that grimace looked like a blue werewolf.

ImagePlayground is for cheap amusement and children not for anything resembling art, mildly edgy imagery or anything beyond playing to the simple and only stealing from independent developers rather than established corporate entities.
Apple RIP 2015

Seems extremely half-baked, won’t take more than two suggestions

Admittedly, I’ve not played with it much, but the handful of times I have, it’s basically useless. For example; if you tell it to create a unicorn, it generally spits out cute & decent images. Tell it to add in a top hat for the unicorn to wear & it completely ignores the instructions. tell it to have the unicorn stand on his hind legs, and the first couple pictures ignore the instructions, but as you swipe they seem to improve. Point is; if you give it more than 1-2 variables, it doesn’t seem capable of handling / understanding. Oh well.

Also; it does really freakish and disturbing things with appendages, as all ai seems to. My 7 year old immediately noticed & squealed. Is this a sign of the experimentation & mutations that ai has in store for humanity once it takes over? Terrifying to ponder….. swing and a miss, apple…

Almost fine

My problem isn’t with any typical restrictions or with how the images look as that’s a problem with it being very new and it just needs some work for that however my problem comes from the included feature of people or animals and their appearance for the people I haven’t gotten an image of more that one person due to the fact of the people appearance feature where you can choose any kind of look for someone but will only make that one person and this feature is COMPLETELY FORCED when making anything to do with people and whenever it’s asked to make something that it’s allowed to make but doesn’t know how to make it will just create a nonexistent animal or just another person so please either make the people appearance feature not forced or just remove it entirely

Not useful

It can generate new an interesting photos from a prompt, but that’s it. Just new photos. You can take a current photo and make it fun.

For example, you can upload a photo of yourself and it’ll make a new photo of you that is its interpretation. You can’t have it put you on a mountain top, change your background, or even use a group photo and have all of you in a sketch or watercolor style. Only one person and only its interpretation.

It’s really limiting what you can do. I ask for sheep jumping over the moon, and I got an up close photo of a sheep smiling and a moon in the background. I asked for a photo of me as a wizard and I got an fave shot with maybe a robe on, but not full body doing anything interesting. It just makes these portrait shots in a cartoon/pixar style

Welcome to the uncanny valley

Apart from the ethical issues with AI (a plagiarism machine burning down the planet, etc etc), this isn't even good A.I. The animation style images usually don't look very much like the source person, and the illustration style images have a better likeness, but are incredibly unflattering (both styles exaggerate features). They aren't very good at pulling correct eye colors from photos unless you create a prompt telling the engine what the eye color should be, and they also just aren't very good at eyes, period (getting two matching eyes that look like human eyes in my results has been difficult; often one is staring in the wrong direction, has a messed-up pupil, is missized, looks reptilian or amphibian, or has some other kind of problem). ImagePlayground also auto-downloaded and auto-opened with a recent iOS update. There are other generative AI apps doing a better job than this one so far. Can't imagine why Apple would put one out and force it on all their users if it can't even handle eyeballs correctly most of the time. This was not ready to be pushed to all users yet.

I don’t know what this is for

Not sure what I would use this for. I don’t have time to make emojis and don’t really care about them. This might be different but same idea. Seems like the last few years we get iOS updates that are basically useless but bloat our phones with features I don’t need or completely forget exist because they’re not useful. I’m still frustrated with the last update where Apple ruined my photo album with ai or whatever it is reorganizing my pictures. I’m all about Apple but it’s getting harder to enjoy these products and the frustration with every update.

Great app, but needs batch delete and smoother performance

The images you create are stored locally on ImagePlayground , and they can make ImagePlayground laggy if you have too many… You can delete them, but you can’t select multiple images and delete them all at once, which is kind of annoying. You have to delete each one individually. I wish Apple would give ImagePlayground an update where it not only runs smoother, but also where you can select multiple images and then delete them or save them to your photo gallery.

Takes a lot of steps to download, but it works after a few minutes

This game takes a lot of steps and a lot of work to download and stuff like I had to update and then I had to update the update and then I had to wait like 30 minutes for it and then after a few minutes I got really mad cause I thought it wasn’t gonna work and then it finally worked so it takes a lot of steps works towards its purpose can use it for texting. It’s actually kind of cool. At first. I feel really sad but then it worked and then I feel happy so yeah you could download this if you like this type of stuff I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cute intelligent app!

Super cool app and it is a lot of fun. It functions as described. Adjust your expectations based on what this gem of an app is capable of. I for one enjoy it! It’s perfect for creating a personal avatars and the AI produces beautifully designed images in my opinion and it comes with the latest software upgrade! Also, if you don’t like the first renderings, you can request an edit and keep your favorite image. It’s for people of all ages and family friendly. If you’re looking for more of an 18+ theme there are other options but don’t knock ImagePlayground until you try it. It is user friendly and easy to learn how to navigate the more you use it. ImagePlayground allows the user to create fun images easily 100%.

Big improvement

I have to say, I’m impressed by how much they have updated ImagePlayground. When I first got my iPhone 16, I tried it and it was very glitchy but now, it’s nearly there. A few more updates and some feedback from these reviews will help developers “fix” or “maintain” image playground. The animation and illustration options have improved a lot as well. You can type in “A cat smoking a cigarette” and it will give you several different versions of what you asked for until you find the one you like. It also improved a lot on the facial features of uploaded pictures of a person. Hope this review will help bring more people to play around with ImagePlayground. It’s great for changing your profile picture and such too!

Serves Its Purpose

For most people it’s really just a gimmick. It could be use useful for writers or people who need quick little pictures that goes along with their text or other forms of work. Or it could be used for fun to just show off, but outside of that, there’s just not much use. That being said, ImagePlayground is rated based on this usefulness for the user, rather than its quality as an image generation app. So, as an image generation app, this thing is amazing, it’s integrated throughout so many parts of your iPhone, has a very simple interface, and is (mostly) on point with your images. It’s definitely not perfect, but it also just released, so many more improvements will come. So yeah, might not be incredibly useful, but it serves its purpose for the people who want it. It’s not some ground-breaking technology, but it’s a fun little addition to the Apple ecosystem. I can definitely see myself using this for some things, just not extremely often.

It will be worth the wait

Yeah, it is awesome. Once you’re able to use it so please have patience once it’s available. It is well worth it. And yes, I will give it five stars if I can give it 10 I would. Yes, I’m on the Developer app. It took me a week until it downloaded, but it was worth the wait. Just have patience. You will get it. When it is released to the public. I guarantee the public will like it. I tried it out numerous times different things with it. I’m glad I had a chance to use the Playground that way I could write a review about it so everyone else will know what. It is white. It is awesome guaranteed you will enjoy it.

Great Innovation

I am particularly impressed by this innovative technology and the ingenious design of the accompanying application. The user interface allows for effortless image generation by simply selecting relevant topics, or even by incorporating personal preferences and favorite individuals. This level of customization is truly remarkable and sets this application apart from its competitors. The ability to seamlessly integrate personal elements into the generated images creates a unique and engaging experience for users. Furthermore, the application’s intuitive interface and user-friendly features make it accessible to a wide range of users, regardless of their technical expertise. This accessibility is crucial for the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. Overall, I am highly impressed by Image Playground’s design and its potential to revolutionize the way we interact with images.

Wish You Could Refine People

ImagePlayground works great, and works really well, but I have one complaint. When you select a “base photo” for a person you don’t have the option to refine it. This gets annoying when you try to generate images, but it might not get the eye color, or proper shade of hair right due to the base photo. If you could “refine“ the base photo by telling it what color eyes, and shade of color hair you want it it would save a lot of adjustments that have to be made over and over again every time you create a new image. This would also allow you to have more prompts when creating your final image rather than having to take up a prompt describing the eye color and exact hair color you want. I think if you had the option to refine the base photo for people it would greatly enhance the use of the application.

Can you please help me?

Hi, I just got early access to image playground. I have tried. To create some stuff, such as pictures. Certain scenarios in my head, however when I tried to create an emoji it suddenly became stuck on download sport for image playground I tried reinstalling ImagePlayground and reconnecting to the network, but it’s still stuck can somebody please I would really like to keep using ImagePlayground, but this download support issue is preventing me from enjoying it to the fullest extent, can you please help me? I really appreciate it and thank you very much
