Brilliant concept, laughable execution

The prospect of this one seems interesting, it is way too early to determine whether or not this is going to be worth the price tag that they are trying to charge.

I tried it out based on a review from AI newsletter review, and I was sorely disappointed. The 10,000 titles that they claimed to have is closer to 10,000 words at most. Nevertheless, I gave it a shot and I listen to three different titles. The first one was decent, but didn’t capture the essence of the chapters. The chapter title was eight things the best talkers do, the summary included four. The other two summaries were laughable at best. At the end of every single chapter summary included keep listening to Heardly. If you do want to try it you could probably get through the entire library less than your seven day trial.

Don’t fall the hype, they’re curated recommended list from titans in the industry include names like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. I had no idea that Elon recommends Lord of the flies that JEFF recommends made in America the story of Sam Walton.

They claimed there would be a chat function in which you could interact with the content of the book, of course, that wasn’t released yet, and noted in fine print at the bottom of the advertisement. I guess that’s why reading matters which is why I’ll continue to read the books the old way.

Worst use of AI I’ve seen (or heard)

These book summaries are terrible. I signed up for the trial, listened to five, and got relatively little information of any value. “In this chapter, author _____ takes a lighthearted look at ways to _____.”

Narrated by AI voices. Obviously no human took any time to validate or edit the content. Boring, useless, a waste of time. (And no, these are not 15 minutes.)

If this is any reflection of how startups are going try to milk AI for revenue, they are doomed. Or maybe WE are.

A game-changer without a doubt!
