Horrible

Every time & I mean every time I tried to sign in, it would text me a code. I would then copy the code and go to paste it where it was needed and then it would open the start screen again to login in and prompt me for a code again. I did this all of 10 times before I deleted AmazonKidsParentDashboard , never actually being able to access it.

Hard to control

I cannot control the time limit, cannot pause the device from my phone

App won’t notify or allow parent approval

I can’t get AmazonKidsParentDashboard to notify me of requests. It sends me a text and I can do it through the website but AmazonKidsParentDashboard won’t and I’m super frustrated.

Screen time hassle

I wish AmazonKidsParentDashboard gave me the option to add a one-time screen time “bonus” instead of simply editing your existing limit and then having to remember to change it back!

Garbage

Finally they created a separate app for this feature however any time you try to do anything it takes you back to the main screen. Half baked at best. Otherwise there is no point for AmazonKidsParentDashboard .

Useless at the moment

Very excited for a separate app specifically for parental controls but unfortunately the only thing in AmazonKidsParentDashboard that works so for is turning on/off the daily screen time. Attempting to edit fields puts me back to the home screen every time.

Doesn’t work

Daily Screen time won’t allow you to edit/modify and set up screen when select just redirects you back to the main page worst app ever and to think I was happy to see more parent safety features available easily to control from an app, but not worth the download I’m deleting app if I could give zero stars I would highly disappointed

Mostly useless reading window

The window I set and haven’t changed in weeks is rarely enforced. Not sure it’s the apps fault, but my kids while in their profile can read whenever they want. The pause literally never works also. Kindle is connected to WiFi and the kids can reset their kindles and click on the bottom of their screen and it goes straight to their book. Useless to have a dashboard that doesn’t work.

App doesn’t work

Cannot pause or change times from AmazonKidsParentDashboard

Amazon kids

Very good 👍😘😊😁🍀🍀😆😄😆😄😹😹😹😹

Doesn’t work

Won’t pause devices or adjust time correctly

Screen Time

Even though I’ve set green time limits for whatever reason it doesn’t actually enforce them. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Amazon do better!!!

I have been using Amazon kids for about 6 years. Stop allowing young kids to download without parent permission! I even made sure I changed the settings to NO DOWNLOADS and my 2 year is still able to download content on his own… UNACCEPTABLE… especially the apps that are taking pictures of my kids without my acknowledgment or permission! If Amazon kids + doesn’t do a better job catering to my kids then these developers I’m done with with this service for good.. I only gave Amazon tablets to my kids, even though I didn’t want too, because of how Amazon kids was advertised that the parents would be in 100 percent in control. After using your products seems like the "profit margins" are in control.

Failure to Fix

I’ve been unable to do anything to adjust my children’s accounts now for almost a month. I submitted a bug report through customer service about a month ago, but still have yet to have anyone reach out to help me fix it. This was supposed to be one of the perks of getting the Fire Tablet. If this continues, I will likely cancel my subscription, and may consider returning the tablets as this is a deal breaker.

Not working on timing

Every time I set up a time for my daughter to use her Amazon fire tablet, it completely locking the tablet out despite whole day is still left , and she didn’t even use it for a minute,

This app does not support reviewing pending store request.!

Then what is the point of AmazonKidsParentDashboard if I can’t approve app downloads. So frustrating and pointless

I don't know where you all find the ease or convenience

No notifications
Can't see the apps the tablet has requested

Not very user friendly

Not very maneuverable. Not sure if AmazonKidsParentDashboard is the problem but after I signed in on AmazonKidsParentDashboard my child’s tablet began throwing a lot of errors

Keeps resetting when signing in

I need to check my email to get the verification code but when I go back to AmazonKidsParentDashboard it has me sign in again. The very first interaction with AmazonKidsParentDashboard and I’m already furious with it.

Not impressed

Child loves the tablet but I should not have to take 4 steps to remove content from the tablet. If I want to remove Blippi from AmazonKidsParentDashboard , I shouldn’t have to remove each individual episode. The tablet should have nothing on it until the parent adds the apps they want. It’s too hard to remove content.

Terrible

Pausing tablet never works. Terrible app and it also allows my child to purchase stuff even though it’s in parental control mode

Needs better support

It barely syncs with my child’s devices and it takes way to long to even attempt to pause his tablet when I need it to.

What was the point?

I don’t see why a whole new app was made for the parental controls. Don’t fix what wasn’t broken. I also can’t adjust the screen time settings. It pulls me out of the settings & back to the main menu. This was a waste of memory/space.

I did notice I was able to put in the nicknames of the people she’s allowed to call. So there’s a positive.

Still no screen time by day

It’s too bad AmazonKidsParentDashboard images show the ability to set screen time by day vs weekdays and weekends like the old app. This is an issue because Friday nights we have to increase the time since it’s not a school night. By Monday we forget to switch the time back to normal school night time so we essentially have to manually update the time twice a week. Bad design. I really don’t see any improvements from the old app so far. Not sure why they made some minor UI changes and released what is essentially a duplicate app.

Approving Apps

“ AmazonKidsParentDashboard does not support reviewing pending store requests”

The only way to do this is by getting a notification via email or txt which then has a link that takes you to Amazon Parent Dashboard website and then you must sign in.

Why isn’t this on AmazonKidsParentDashboard ?

AmazonKidsParentDashboard should support this.

Easy to use

AmazonKidsParentDashboard is a lot easier to use on my phone. There should be a select all option for shows I don’t want my daughter to watch. Instead of having to go through and select every single one in the settings. Very tedious but otherwise AmazonKidsParentDashboard is fine.

Limited options

It’s very limited on the choices it gives you as a parent to monitor your kids screen time. For example, I only want my son to watch 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at evening. It either gives me 30 or 15 minutes, but not 20, and for the whole day. I can’t choice the time of the day.

Alexa too?

I paused my kids devices not knowing. I was disabling Alexa. I haven’t been able to resume Alexa. Screaming from my room right now to wake him up?

Better that the old app, still pretty bad UX

Amazon needs new UI/UX designers. Does AmazonKidsParentDashboard function? Yes. Does it work in an intuitive way that follows Apple’s designed guidelines? Absolutely not.

Good parts: It is much easier now to access & change my kids settings. The other app made you jump through all kinds of UI hoops to do simple things like change the time limits. This basically surfaces just that behavior, so that’s an improvement.

Bad bits: the navigation structure is horrible. So many views you navigate into to adjust settings and when you tap or swipe to go back you’re taking back several views, not the previous one. For example, to adjust the range you navigate to your child’s settings, tap the gear icon, tap “adjust age filter”. Here, if you tap the back button you are taken back 1 view, but if you swipe back you are taken all the way back to the top level. There are inconsistencies like this all throughout AmazonKidsParentDashboard .

Another example of poor UX - the view for adjusting daily limits. Scrolling up & down in this page is clunky. They aren’t using the standard velocity one expects when scrolling views. Additionally, if you begin a scroll by touching one of the time limit sliders, the time limit is adjusted rather than scrolling the view.

For a “tech” company as large as Amazon I expect they could afford designers that know how to do correct UI/UX for iOS. The lack of concern for the user experience all across Amazon’s mobile apps is just another example of how we are the product and the purpose of AmazonKidsParentDashboard is to provide a minimum amount of functionality by putting in the minimum amount of effort.

Easy to navigate

I appreciate the ease in which to navigate the parental controls.

Easier but Still Not the Best

Couple features I wish they would add
- Daily limits by specific day of the week
- Play together feature like what’s on the other Amazon kids app, I shouldn’t need to have two apps to get all available features
- Some sort of text feature that goes directly from app to tablet

Alexa for kids is great

My wife and I are enjoying this device for our daughter, does everything it says it does. Love the parental guidance it has, definitely want one for my room. Do recommend this for any parent, for their child to have fun with it

Updates

I am enjoying the new update as far as weekdays and weekend updates. I love that now we can adjust setting based upon each day versus weekdays/weekend. The new app is clearer. Brighter. Easy to use to adjust settings. I appreciate the added time ranges from 15 minutes to almost 12 hours versus “unlimited.” AmazonKidsParentDashboard responds to my son’s tablet faster when making adjustments.
