SpartanRace is terrible. Stops in the middle of a workout and forces you to tap like or it doesn’t continue and even when you do tap like it still does back to the beginning and you have to start again. Spartan is really going downhill in everything it’s doing, become just a money grab.
What a RIP-OFF this race has become!!
They used to have the pics of the races FREE for those of us crazy enough to invest our hard earned money to participate, run, test our limits and see a few rare of those moments of pure agony, pain and excitement captured in pictures….
Only for them to “partner” with some photography company that now CHARGES us runners for pictures on top of the huge amount we pay to run these races.
This is so off-putting and disappointing that this company has become so huge that they now Nickel & Dime us runners for these moments our loved ones can’t accompany us.
I may look to go and participate in another obstacle race company that doesn’t charge another amount on top of the crazy price in this Inflation Economy where they don’t tell you about the Veteran-Active Duty discount till AFTER you’ve purchased the race tickets.
WHAT A RIP-OFF you’ve become SPARTAN RACE
Outside of retrieving your ticket (add it to your apple wallet), SpartanRace is useless. It displays helpful stuff but it fails to actually be accessible. Do not use SpartanRace if your looking for reliable information.
Some of the features in SpartanRace are simply displaying their website, which would be fine if it worked well, however it makes the experience more difficult than simply going to their website outside of SpartanRace . For example, the leaderboard feature is just displaying the leaderboard website, but it has no back button like on your browser, so once you click on something you can’t go back, and that means you have to close, reopen, and search again, which is frustrating.
SpartanRace seems like it was primarily designed to drive people to buying a Spartan+ membership since a lot of the features require you to have the membership to use them.
Account access at Venue is great!
Annnnnnnd that is where it ends. If you want to go shopping, use the website, so much easier. I don’t think I can even access all items on their shop from SpartanRace ….
Handful of videos are great for training but the rest and beyond pointless. No verbal commands, no audio cues, no time between transitions/skills… you have to literally stare at your phone to stay on track with the current skill and countdown.
With hundreds of fitness apps out there, you’ve got to be pretty good to stand above them and SpartanRace is not that. Apple fitness+ is a better app.
After having NO spartan+ tent or parking at Houston. Waiting over a month for the photo ‘discount’ and now SpartanRace. I don’t think spartan+ is worth the fee anymore.
I wish there was an option to toggle from meters to miles. Like everyone else, audio cues would be great and having the timers not pause if you close SpartanRace would be good.
Basically what the title says. SpartanRace is so riddled with bugs that it’s basically unusable. The workouts are fantastic, but i can’t access them even though i pay for SpartanRace . Only reason it isnt one star is because the workouts are good. But you’re better off finding a different program somewhere else on the internet.
Training videos keep stopping and resetting. It’s hard to follow instructor let videos when it keeps stopping and asking me if I like the video, then goes back to the starting page. It’s happened like 3 to 4 times already.
The trainer led videos are amazing, but I really need sound for the self guided ones!
I can’t keep watching my phone for when the timer is up. It’s really discouraging when I’m ready to do the self guided programs, but I can’t keep up because I keep missing the start of the next exercise. PLEASE ADD SOUND!
Programs not functioning properly. Is not letting change the ‘Week’ you desire to explore. Stays on ‘Week 1’ all the time. Very disappointing!!

I ran in the Carolinas weekend trifecta event in November 2025. I have run several Spartan races before and always had a great experience. It had been several years since I ran my last race so I decided to invite my sister and her boyfriend for their first race (kind of a weekend family event). We ran and completed all 3 races in the weekend but did not receive our weekend Trifecta medal or appropriately sized finisher T-shirts. Why you might ask? Because they ran out of both weekend trifecta medals and finisher T-shirts. We noticed (after finishing the Super race) that volunteers were already handing out the weekend Trifecta finisher medals. So, by the time we finished our Sprint toward the end of the day, the medals had run out. We followed up with the staff at the event (wearing blue shirts, not red) and were told that all we needed to do was send an email referencing the missing items and they would be sent to us. One staff member even had a laminated card with all the Spartan contact information we needed. We were told to send the email within 10 days of the event (which we did). The reply I got from the customer service department was vastly different than what I was told by the staff at the event. First, I was told that they were unaware of any shortage of medals or t-shirts. Second, I had asked about the weekend Trifecta shirt and hoodie we were supposed to receive after signing up. I was told that in order to receive those items you have to register prior to May 31st. That information is on their website but it is at the bottom of the webpage in the fine print. We registered after this date but there was nothing during the registration process referencing this deadline. I mention this for as 'buyer beware' warning. Once customer service finally acknowledged the shortage of both the medals and shirts, they confirmed that I would be sent the items I was due but to be patient as they tried to address the backlog. They indicated it would take roughly 7-10 weeks and perhaps longer due to newly implemented tariffs. Fast forward to today and several emails and 18 weeks later, no medal and no t-shirts. I have continued to follow-up with polite, but direct, emails and have spoken to no less than 5 customer service reps. Each time I am reassured that I will receive my items and each time I wait a few more weeks with no update. I would like to point out that since the event I have ordered motorcycle parts from China TWICE that have been able to clear customs and get to my house in around 8 weeks. Their medals are sent from China as well so I would have to believe by 18 weeks they should have arrived in the U.S. Additionally, according to their online race schedule, they have hosted 3 weekend Trifecta events in 2026 already. So I ask, have all those racers not received medals either? Otherwise, they have had medals to distribute but only to those who have paid to run races in 2026, not those of us who paid to run in 2025. I am beyond fed up with this organization as they have on interest in addressing issues or taking care of racers who spend so much money to run their events. We each spent over $500 to run in this event and to date all we have received is lip service. We paid for the event, ran the event, earned the hardware and would like the items we should have received on race day. Spartan race is truly disrespectful and inconsiderate of those who spend their money with them. Their organization is abysmal and they should be embarrassed at the lack of service they're providing. As a result, I will not ever sign up for another race and I suggest you do the same!
