I’ve tried multiple Goodreads alternatives and had luck with Literal until they announced the app is in maintenance mode with no further work being done, and an app with more than a year between updates that feels sluggish. Enter Italic Type. Beautiful UI, core features are all there, and I’m ready to once again make a switch off GR, but the app has some minor UI quirks that just feel strange to me and a lack of dark mode (your desktop site supports this!) doesn’t jive with me in 2024. I expect mediocre, untouched, archaic design with GR, but yall have it 95% in the bag! The second dark mode hits the app, I’m ready to take the plunge as well as all the other folks I know eager to detach from GR/Amazon.
Great work all in all, and hope to see the platform continue to evolve and not regress like Literal.
