The function to get the value of an entire bookshelf doesn't include giving you the "EBAY VALUE" Of each book. It only gives the price paid by "buyback" companies.
NOT USER FRIENDLY
PRETTY TERRIBLE APP
The description of Thrift is misleading. It doesn’t give values for eBay, only for the bookscouter app. It makes you sign up for bookscouter and become “an affiliate.” I scanned numerous books and none of them except for one current very popular title were available for valuation. They need to make it clear on the description that Thrift really only works for textbooks and that they want you to sell your books to bookscouter, not list them on eBay.
Man I have tried everything possible to make this work and it won’t read anything
It’s a great idea, poorly executed by a developer that just doesn’t care about his product. It’s currently not working at all. Will they fix it? Probably, but who knows when. ZERO customer service, don’t even bother trying. When it does work it’s wrong about 90% of the time on values.
I downloaded Thrift and gave it the old college try. Unfortunately, it produced results for the first ten or so items and then showed no results for any subsequent scans. Re-scan of earlier items did not produce results any longer. Not reliable whatsoever. Also, the free trial didn’t work. Got charged immediately.
Cool idea, but it doesn’t seem to remember anything I scan. Clicked no on sharing my photo library because I just wanted to use the camera, made Thrift unusable. Tried restarting, granting photo access, still stuck on the “gallery access denied”. Glad I didn’t pay the $90 before finding that bug.
Trial cancelled
I was so frustrated using Thrift. Totally excited to scan my bookshelf and get info on each book. It gave me names of other books. Nothing in the pictures I took. And I took so many pictures from all different angles and alone and with one another. Just kept giving me random books not even in my collection and nothing and I mean NOT ONE BOOK in the photos. So disappointed because I was so pumped. Deleting after only one day
I’ve spent less than 10 seconds on Thrift and it’s already asking for a rating. Zero stars for you. Earn my stars AFTER I get to try out your app first!
Edit: after trying Thrift it turns out that even though they offer a 7-day free trial you have to pay for the subscription upfront. But even with the subscription Thrift doesn’t work. It says it can read barcodes. I tried 5 different barcodes on 5 different books and it wouldn’t read them. I tried the bookshelf option and it could only read 1 book from the entire shelf. It’s not even worth the free trial!
Would love to try out your app but I cant afford it. Maybe offer a reasonable monthly. Or even three month plan to give people a chance to actually try it out. First month half price or something. Idk but I can’t pay that kind of money especially with only one week to test it out.
It takes over 5 minutes to process a shelf, and then it misses or does not list a price for the vast majority of the books. I think I got about 7 books identified and priced per 50 scanned, which is the maximum books per photo that they say program can handle (which it cannot, even if you lower the quantity of books). You also have to join some affiliate program for a books reseller website in order to gain access to the book scanning tool.
The idea of Thrift is great, but it’s not functional, and therefore the developers should not have this “service” on the retail market for people to purchase yet.
It is a good idea and I am looking for an app that does these things, but it needs to be improved a bit more. Whenever I check a book to confirm it, it almost always says it was the wrong one and would pull up the corrected one. I also tried to scan my shelf and it only found about half before the scan was complete. If it was updated to work better, I may pay for a subscription
The first few days Thrift was awesome, but now that I am out of the trial and paying monthly, it no longer shows resale value. I don’t know if that’s just a coincidence or purposeful, but I don’t know if I will continue with Thrift if it doesn’t do what it is supposed to do.
Update: After a quick response from the developer with some tips, things are back to being what they were for the most part. Sometimes Thrift is overloaded due to server issues, but it is now showing resale value.
I wish I could insert pictures
Great app, bit pricey wish I could afford it because it’s super helpful to resellers like myself.
Thrift has all the analytics you need to find great products, and as an eBay seller it’s very helpful to have all the insights I have on terapeak but on mobile. If you are new to selling on eBay it’s also been great for learning resale values of common this app finds, without a doubt 5 stars.
Can I use this to scan their inventory for $
Very useful and easy to use.
Great app and a great way to fair market value items
I switched from bookscouter to using the shelf scanner on Thrift for the last few days and although it can mess up sometimes (I guess it’s still in Beta though so makes sense), when it works man it saves me so much time, and then I just use the barcode scan on bookscouter to double check prices of high value books on the shelf scan if I need more accuracy. Thriftmagic + bookscouter is a powerhouse!
