Needs Work

2024-05-06

I don’t think I’ve ever received an above 7-star game and I drop bangers. There needs to be balancing issues looked at. There’s also a dire mismatch between how much money you’re able to get in the early game and how much licensing fees are. It’s just not doable. Really wish they would improve upon what made the original so great.

Same game, again

2024-04-21

I’m glad to see you’ve re-released the same
Game with no improvements to the game you released like 8 years ago. I love this game, and have went back to it multiple times but it’s a slap in the face to your player base to stamp a Netflix logo and a couple references on it and make it a “new release” and require a Netflix account to play it. Take some pride in your work and at least add to the game.

I have similar issues with the Apple Arcade method where games get re-released as game+ with nothing new(and no updates after the game releases) except you have to pay for Apple Arcade to play them? Sad to see where mobile devs minds are at.

to repetitive

2024-05-16

It’s the same thing over and over again you don’t even know what day or what year you’re on it it is quite literally the same thing and you don’t know what is making your games fail or what the people really want it feels like there is no way to win or complete this game

I wish there were more or less shifts, and being able to work on different projects with only certain people instead of the whole workspace, working on one thing

Way harder than the PC version

2024-04-08

I’ve played the PC version for years and something is up with this mobile version. It’s way more difficult

Glitch makes game unplayable

2024-05-16

I am an avid enjoyer of this game and really love the game. Just recently, I started a new company and it gave me a screen that had only story/quest and when I finish the project, it had the title as mega game and all the things looked reset. Please do something about this.

Reviewers are to harsh

2024-03-21

They gave me 1 star so I give you 1 star

why

2024-03-21

the game needs to be better like make it so the games the player makes doesn’t take away a bunch of money

Eh

2024-04-27

Look I love these types of games,

This game was fine until I went bankrupt for searingly little to no reason, the contracts made no sense, and seemingly impossible to do, guidance started off great then just disappeared.

Thank you

Difficulty curve is punishing

2024-07-23

I love the original and played it on PC, so I wasn’t really willing to pay the $5 for the mobile version. Seeing that the game was free with my Netflix account, then, was great. However, the rating system is absolutely broken, with too great an emphasis on rewarding innovation, it seems. You’ll release a new game and get 5-7.5, then create a new engine and release the exact same game for a 9.5, then all your next games won’t go above an 8. I was using a guide off the steam page btw, so I was getting the perfect combos. It’s also nearly impossible to get a 10. And forget being successful after the initial upgrades to the first office building, you’ll be starving for good reviews and drained by expenses.

Difficult

2024-05-02

Kinda frustrating when you don’t fully understand why your game keeps doing bad when you think you’re doing everything right.. goes bankrupt too quickly and easily

Decent Game

2024-07-23

The game is decent, but there are so many problems. 1. The Broken Rating System. I got 10’s for 2 games in a row, but suddenly on the next game I create, I get 2’s and 1’s, barely any reason whatsoever, because when I check the game report, I get a measly “Dialogue seems to be not important for this type of game”, I would appreciate a report that’s much more specific. Also, I can guarantee the 10’s I was somehow able to get was from pure luck, because I never got a 10 after that 2. The game is way too hard. If your trying to finish the game without using the wiki, then good luck, because it’s nearly impossible. I went bankrupt (for barely any reason, I blink once and suddenly I’m bankrupt) so many times without using the wiki. 3. Confusion. This kind of goes with the first one but it’s insanely hard to know why you’re failing or why you’re succeeding. The best the game gives you is one sentence that barely tells you anything. 4. Way too hard later on. Once you are able to buy the first upgrade to a new base, the difficulty is multiplied by 100, having to handle the workers and all of that other stuff, I can barely describe as I went bankrupt immediately after. 5. Contracts, All I want to say is that we really need a better description on how the contracts work, I never use them since I don’t know what they do. I really hope these issues get fixed as these are ruining everything about the game.

Needs improvement

2024-05-02

I like the sound, the art style and the concept of this game, but it is so hard to level up cuz I keep getting bankrupt. Like the monthly costs:sales ratio are way too much. Plus I don’t understand the contract jobs cuz there’s no option for me to improve my speed to avoid penalties. I only started this game last night but I’m already giving up on this

WAY TOO HARD

2024-05-02

I’ve been playing this for a few days and I keep going bankrupt. This game is fun but they should give options to change the level of the game such as easy, intermediate and hard because it’s too difficult thus making it un- enjoyable. Not the best netflix game out there

too hard

2024-03-21

keep going bankrupt no matter what

2024-06-01

Honestly I dunno if it’s me or not but I can’t play this game without it crashing huge potential but the crashes is horrible

I like it but I hate it

2024-06-03

Listen yall I like the game but it’s really hard to make money! I developed two games and I’m already going bankrupt. Also a suggestion I would like to make sequels to games I released and maybe adding a feature where we can issue updates to our games I think that would be really cool. As of now it’s a love hate relationship but hopefully I can get the hang of this cause I see a lot of potential!

Annoying

2024-06-03

I really like this game and its kindve addicting but it gets really annoying when i keep going bankrupt for no reason and then i cant get the things i already paid for back. I also dont like the choices it gives when u go bankrupt because even when i restart the level it restarts everything ive worked for and tried to make decisions so i didnt go bankrupt but still did anyways somehow.

Need toning down

2024-04-08

The game is great but its too hard it stressed me out that I deleted it, maybe you can put difficulty settings

Really?

2024-06-03

Look, everybody knows and loves Game Dev Tycoon, but this is practically the same if not worse version of it. Its mostly entirely the same gameplay, with a few references to movies here and there but thats it. Doing a game report? Well you’ll forget what you learn because you only get a one time see of what goes good with what. Wanna progress the game? Nah, you wont be able to get anything better then a 5 rating. If you wanna progress, I hope you are willing to look up the wiki, cuz you’re not getting through it on your own. Overall a mocking blow at the original with a red N slapped on it.

No reason to be always online

2024-05-28

I highly recommend buying the original. Neat ideas in this one that I'd like to see explored in a sequel, but this version seems to always need an internet connection. Dumb.

Good Idea. Bad UI

2024-03-21

I love management games, so I was excited to try one for iPad. I’ve already run out of scenarios in Outlanders, which was my go-to management game for iPad, but I have thousands of hours combined in CIV 5, Cities Skylines and the Planet Zoo series.

The idea of this game is great. I’ve gotten to the point of having a few employees, but the UI and hints and patterns for this game make it frustrating to play as a casual game.

A couple things that don’t make sense to me, as someone who is not in the video game design world, but a frequent flier for management games:

We need explications on what each type of game is. “Hospital” is so vague. “Music” is so vague. “Prison” — what? I should be able to put research points into each type of game after I unlock it to see which style suits it best, instead of having to create an entire game in each style. So far my most popular game is a handheld fashion RPG. It sold millions. Uhhh, EXCUSE ME? Does type of game even matter? I honestly cannot even tell because the UI is way too vague.

I like the idea of researching to unlock each type, and I really like that each new game has random types of games to start out.

The internal reviews you do after a game is released should be available forever. The game says there are ++ and - - tips that show up after you unlock info, but it seems buggy as heck and the sliders don’t make much sense anyhow. What does it mean by artificial intelligence? Where are my instant access tool tips for casual gaming!

Also, why am I having to pay to research the processes and pay in time and money to create an entire game engine… only to have to pay to use the engine during development. Wack!

I don’t know why games go off market at all unless a system goes off market. Maybe you can unlock this further into the game, after sequels, but I don’t know.

I wish I had the option to hire a freelancer to do research instead of paying for a whole office.

I’d love to have a line graph for spending, broken down by where/how/when I’m spending my money.

Overall I am going to keep coming back to this game. I think the developers have something really cool. The UI is lacking but I enjoy it.

Way too hard but love it in 2024

2024-03-21

No need to explain but there are review that will explain it

This is my favorite game, but…..

2024-06-25

If I could give this review a 4.5 star I would! It’s one of my favorites! I’ve loved playing the original Game Dev Tycoon and I play it around this time every year! When I found out that there’s a newer version of the game with all new content available, I was EXCITED! It was like playing the game for the first time, except for I actually knew what I was doing.

However, I do have one thing….. There is lag when you get to the last game headquarters of the game. The lag wasn’t there in the original game but it’s here in this version of the game. It’s so bad that I thought that the game had crashed, and if I wasn’t so patient, I would have lost a lot of progress. I would love it if it could be fixed, please.

Hard

2024-04-21

Game is good but it’s too hard not to go to bank rupt

8

2024-06-01

The game is very good but is pretty hard to get one or even more office inploys and don’t get me started on getting an office I have something I think you should do. Make the game easier ok? That’s just a suggestion though

I knew people were stupid, I just didn’t know it was this bad…

2024-07-23

It’s not supposed to be a new or updated game, it’s just a way for Netflix users to get the game for free and not have to pay 5 bucks for it. It’s really not that complex.

Still great but runs poorly.

2024-08-30

I love this game. I’ve played it for years on 3 different platforms, including iOS. For some reason this version runs terrible at times. Really hope you guys continue to work on the performance of this game because it’s one of my favorite games of all time.

A Little Too Much

2024-08-30

This is a type of game I typically love, and I do enjoy this one, too, but there are just a few things about it that are wrong.

For one, the pace is a little too frenetic. Sure, it starts slow, but by the mid to late game there are just a constant stream of annoying notifications - the most egregious being the PS1 equivalent’s announcement and day after follow up. I lived through the time, I get it, and while it is an interesting story, this is just presenting it like a pest. I would love to be able to turn these off and for some of them to be combined into one message, not two.
For two, the game’s pace is too hectic for what it is. There’s no pause button that I can find - at least once I thought I was on a screen that would function as a pause and focused elsewhere for a minute only to return to find unhappy employees who thought I was ignoring them. And so much of the game just flies by. I had the most enjoyment from playing after year 35 because there was a lot less of the mess.
Solid theme, addictive game loop, bummer of a pace.

I knew people were stupid, I just didn’t know it was this bad…

2024-04-14

It’s not supposed to be a new or updated game, it’s just a way for Netflix users to get the game for free and not have to pay 5 bucks for it. It’s really not that complex.

Very charming.

2024-04-04

It feels like running a actual business. With company treating you so badly you go to sleep crying, Weird encrypted messages, Bankruptcy, All that good little charm.

Please add some sort of search feature that'll tell you what works with what genre and console or something like that.

Glitching…

2024-06-29

I love this game but recently it’s been glitching onto a “new text” screen everytime I open the game. I even tried it on a different device and had the same issues.

Great game

2024-04-04

Good for rode trips I’ve played this game for like 4 hours it’s amazing I just wish that you could rename your engines or games it’s really annoying when ur name doesn’t have a name or ur engine doesn’t have a name I’ve just given up and made a whole new project just for the name so please let us rename our projects but other than that great game.

Fun new additions

2024-04-23

I’ve clocked over 100 hours on the PC release and many more on the iOS version. The Netflix version has new features which are fun and mix up the formula a bit. Love it.

Best game for car rides

2024-04-23

First of all I would like to say I love the fact that you don’t need Wi-Fi to play this game it is amazing and it is perfect and amazing because you don’t need to pay anything it is so good

Great game

2024-04-04

Loved the old version. Pretty much exactly the same just added a little more here. For people saying it’s hard it’s really not. Here’s a tip, first couple run through a will be just doing as much combinations cuz you can create game reports after releasing games. It tells you what works and a few tips that also carry on the next new game game so after awhile you’ll have all the data you need to make great games for later run throughs.

BUY THE REAL GAME

2024-06-29

if you’re about to give a sucky review to this, don’t hesitate to buy the real game. it’s so addictive and much better than this version, trust me. i’ve reached billions of dollars and plenty of 10 star games.

Super fun

2024-06-29

Extremely addicting. Wish there were some more replayability options.

About pog63’s Review

2024-04-20

I read pog63’s review and I just want to say that I got a seven star rating on this game for “Dingy Dungeon” adventure and detective game.

2024-08-30
