Unreliable

2024-02-05

I wanted to love MidnightAlarmClock. It has all the features I want, and the design is beautiful. But I’m giving it 1 star for now because reliability in an alarms app is absolutely essential.

I have a repeated medication alarm set to deliver critical alerts, and it worked the first couple of days, but then just stopped working. I checked MidnightAlarmClock and all the settings are as they should be, but it’s still not working.

I’m hoping this gets fixed, because I really want to use MidnightAlarmClock. But in the meantime I hope people are informed about this bug before they miss important reminders.

Abandoned, no updates

2024-05-25

So i purchased MidnightAlarmClock and the Pro upgraded based on the description of Calendar Event Alarms. i have an odd work schedule that changes every 3 weeks.

i was amazed that MidnightAlarmClock stated it could set an alarm based on events in your calendar, ie my work schedule. i would set a Reoccurring alarm for shift that would wake me up every 3rd day… WRONG!

“Coming Soon”…. well here we are over 8 months without ANY updates to MidnightAlarmClock . Needless to say, my reason to purchase MidnightAlarmClock in the first place has not been implemented yet either. Last update in my requester feature stated “Will be ready by July 30, 2023.”

The app Does NOT work

2024-02-05

To quote the developer “Supports Critical Alerts. Guaranteed to ring in silent mode and Do Not Disturb.” I had three critical alarms set with max volume within MidnightAlarmClock , with the phone’s volume on max as well.

I gave MidnightAlarmClock approval for the permissions it requested for Critical Alerts needed to bypass the mute switch and Do Not Disturb.

My phone was in silent (mute) mode. I watched as the alarm times approached. All three times, I watched notification banner pop-up on my phone, but the sound never broke through.

Next, I took my phone off silent and set three new critical alarms. Same outcome. I received the notification banners, but alarms’ sound never occurred.

As much as I dislike Apple’s Clock/Alarms app, it does work 100% percent of the time. Midnight Alarm Clock was 0 for 6 with the sound.

There are a number of reviews addressing this very issue, as well as other instances when MidnightAlarmClock fails to work. I hope the developers will address these issues and put out an update soon.

Exact Design Ideas I am Looking For but Doesn't Work

2024-06-11

As a software engineer, I purchased Midnight Alarm with a lifetime subscription because the design description is exactly what I have been looking for. However, it doesn't work most of the time! Using it I haven't woken up when alarms were set and have missed important appointments because Midnight Alarm app never went off. To have a dependable, reliable app I have had to go back to the Apple Alarm app. It works correctly! I hope in the future the software developer corrects MidnightAlarmClock's bugs.

Abandoned app

2024-04-14

I really wanted to use this a while ago, I never bought the pro version though, and there are no Lock Screen widgets for this and the live activities is broken. It will say it was added to Lock Screen, then not add it. People who paid for MidnightAlarmClock should get a full refund. Apple needs to start refunding on apps like these where they just stop updating it after a few months.

Developer… I would like your comments on the reliability issues

2024-02-02

Like me, I’m sure many of your users would appreciate your comments on the reliability issues addressed in the recent one star reviews. I really want to use MidnightAlarmClock , but the hit and miss on alarms actually working makes it difficult.

Are we doing something wrong that’s preventing the alarms from working?

Alarming Functionality - Folders Not Working

2024-06-02

I bought MidnightAlarmClock to organize my various alarms within the folder structure, but MidnightAlarmClock will not allow me to select individual alarms and place them in a folder. MidnightAlarmClock will also not allow for the creation of an alarm within a given folder.

Created folders also cannot be deleted either. Developer should make strides to correct these issues and provide an update.

Not as versatile as needed

2024-05-23

I downloaded and paid for the pro version because of the reported flexibility. I need two alarms: every sixth day before 6 am, and a second alarm two days after the other, again, every sixth day. And while MidnightAlarmClock is beautiful, and highly versatile, I am unable to find a way to set an alarm every sixth day. If this feature is added, I will change to five stars and change my review. But don’t download and pay for MidnightAlarmClock if you’re looking to set a custom alarm that repeats every ‘X’ days.

Good idea, not great execution

2024-05-05

I like the idea of MidnightAlarmClock, and I even bought the premium (which I do not recommend, I wish I could get a refund), but i find myself using the basic clock app more and more. If it had more features for waking up, I would like it. MidnightAlarmClock has become unreliable, with alarms not ringing properly, not snoozing or even shutting off, and after failing to wake up for an important event, I’m switching back to the regular clock

No One-time purchase fee!

2024-01-25

When I read the review about MidnightAlarmClock I was very excited. They said that you can just purchase as a one time fee or the $1.50 a month. Now I downloaded it and find it that there is no one-time purchase fee but just an annoying subscription tyranny. Im fed up with subscription models and enforced servitude.

Folders

2024-04-01

It's understandable for things like weather and calendar integration to have a monthly fee, but I'm not sure what the justification is to have folders be part of a subscription instead of a one time charge. (I know there's a lifetime option but $15 if all you want is folders is pretty extreme.)

No pre-alarm function?

2024-07-03

I really like the design of MidnightAlarmClock, but wish it had the ability to set up an alarm half an hour before the event, and an hour before the event so that I have time to prepare for the actual event.

Update: Developer responded explaining the three steps I should take. Still can’t set pre-alarm because I can’t find the “alarm bar” at the top (step two).

More options

2024-10-11

I wish there was a way to get more cities and save them to weather. Not able to get the list from my weather. Also having trouble adding a folder to the site

Great app, but I have concerns

2024-08-17

I think MidnightAlarmClock is fantastic. I love the look, flexibility, and attention to detail.

My main point of concern is that it uses the media volume on the iPhone rather than ringer volume. During the day I turn my media volume down so that it’s not blasting when I open an app, which seems reasonable. Unfortunately, the alarms do not automatically turn the media volume back up, so if I have it turned down they make no noise. This has cause me to oversleep a few times. This only happens when I am reusing an alarm that already exists and is set to repeat automatically; creating a new alarm or even just adjusting the volume slider does change the media volume.

My only other concern is that alarms default to whatever time it is when you create it. This is just a small gripe, but I once accidentally created an alarm that didn’t go off in the morning. I hadn’t realized, but it was automatically set to PM when I created it the night before.

I hope these things can be changed. If so, MidnightAlarmClock would be literally perfect.

Great app!

2024-08-17

Sort app by time should take into account the scheduled date as well. ie 4pm on saturday should be sorted before 3pm on sunday. Currently the sort feature only looks at the time field.

You need a “mute this instance” of repeat alarms!

2024-09-26

If you turn off a repeating alarm, you run the risk of forgetting to reinstate it. With a “mute this instance” button you can skip it for today and not risk forgetting to reset for tomorrow… should not be too hard to implement, so, please, … make it so !! I will update to five stars when you do!

Loving the Midnight Calendar

2025-05-17

I’ve purchased the perpetual license because I like it so much. It is easy to use and is very intuitive for setting up and customizing alarms. Its ring volume is loud & adjustable, also it’s design looks good.

Great App & Great Dev

2025-03-18

I jumped on this when it was released, but there was a problem with it working on my phone. The dev was very responsive and kept at it, and now it works flawlessly! I like the added options that I don’t get on the built in app, and it’s worth every penny. If you need a serious, grown up alarm app, this is the one for you!

This alarm app should be the default

2024-08-17

Honestly, MidnightAlarmClock is of a quality you used to see in Apple software years ago. It’s software that makes you go ‘wow’ when you use it because it’s made with such love.

Anyone that doesn’t like it because you have to pay for premium features has plenty of other options in the form of cheaply made apps filled with ads.

But if you appreciate a good app that you will use daily, download it now! You won’t be disappointed.

Brilliant features, beautiful app

2025-05-18

The alarms work perfectly thanks to the development team working tirelessly. Second, MidnightAlarmClock focuses on actually getting you up in a fun way. You can unlock “Missions” that require you to do something to stop the alarm. Two of my favorites include taking a photo of something (Ex, bathroom sink) or a barcode (that I have linked to my Notion). Weather app + calendar integration are awesome too - everything promotes sequential behavior. Love it and amazing work!

beautiful yet simple

2025-06-30

This developer is great at what he does. MidnightAlarmClock provides a huge overhaul of features over the native alarm app. It also looks stunning. I wont be going back.

An Excellent Alternative

2024-08-01

MidnightAlarmClock is well-designed, intuitive, and powerful. A must-have for anyone looking for more features than the stock iOS Clock app while retaining the Apple look and feel. Don’t be turned away by the price: most features of MidnightAlarmClock are free with no ugly paywalls, and the developer offers a one-time-purchase option if you want. I couldn’t recommend MidnightAlarmClock enough; it’s really well made.

This Alert App is awesome!

2024-08-17

must say, MidnightAlarmClock surpasses the Apple Clock app in every aspect! It offers an incredible level of flexibility and functionality. From viewing weather updates, enjoying cool animations, MidnightAlarmClock has it all. The abundance of features it provides is truly remarkable, and the inclusion of calendar support and widget compatibility takes it to the next level. If you're looking for an app that combines convenience, aesthetics, and a plethora of features, this is the one to go for! I am rooting for you! 🤩🥳

Better alarm app

2024-08-17

I downloaded and tested MidnightAlarmClock, and it seems to be more advanced than the original alarm app. Even though I'm deaf, it successfully alarms my Apple Watch without any issues. I would like to add a note to inform others that MidnightAlarmClock is deaf-friendly. It's important to disregard the negative reviews as MidnightAlarmClock is legitimate. It's definitely worth using for its advanced alarm features. I especially love the option to schedule alarms, ensuring that you won't forget them in the future.

All the reasons you need this app

2024-08-01

1) alarms sort by date /time so an alarm for a meeting Thursday at 9 am will appear in the list AFTER an alarm schedule at 2 PM on Wednesday iPhone default alarms sort by time alone.
2) you can set alarms for a day / time in the future. Example: you fly early next Tuesday so you want to wake up at 4 AM. You can at that alarm a week or more earlier.
3) you choose defaults for new alarms. Sound, volume, snooze duration.
4) repeating alarms or single-shot.
5) the alarms work even if the silent switch is set to sound off.
6) all of these features are in the free version but don’t be a looser. You use it, give some coin to the developer. He earned it.

I set alarms for 15 minutes before my meetings with snooze set at 3 min so I have adequate time to get logged in BEFORE the meeting starts. Hate people are late.

Amazing App

2025-12-05

Another great app! Can’t wait to use it back when college starts! 100% recommend for anyone that wants to stay organized or just loves beautiful visuals.

Refreshing Attention to Detail

2024-08-01

Finally, there’s an alarm app with some craft! This is gorgeous and feature-filled, and will no doubt become even more useful with time. The ease with which I can set very specific alarm parameters and organize multiple alarms into folders is incredible and satisfying to use. From a UI design standpoint this goes beyond being a great iOS platform citizen, it also pushes some boundaries - not only meeting design expectations but doing things in a way I haven’t seen before. The details matter, and Midnight excels at naturally bringing those details to the forefront of the experience.

Saved My Baby From A Burning Building

2024-08-01

I was minding my business at the supermarket when an alarm goes off from Midnight. At 4:20 in the afternoon confused until I saw the title, “Get Home Now” I frantically rushed out of the building and sprinted towards my house. The developer (Andrew) drives by in his Lambo and motions for me to get in. He tells me my apartment was on fire. We speed home. When we got to the building Andrew sprinted into the burning building, and went into my apartment where my baby was sleeping. Like a movie, Andrew comes out of the building, baby in hand, as the rest of the building goes up in flames. This is the best app ever. You never know when it could save your life.

The alarm app we all needed!

2024-08-01

This is a wonderfully designed, feature-packed app that in my opinion far outshines the closest competitors (Alarmy and Alarm Clock for Me). I LOVE the Critical Alert feature in particular since I often forget to switch my phone off silent mode before going to sleep. Amazing work!!!

With that said, it would be *really* great to have a “Skip next alarm” feature similar to Alarmy. This is a frequent use case for me (and others with an irregular sleep schedule); if I disable the alarm outright, I run the risk of forgetting to turn it back on the next day. Once that feature is added, MidnightAlarmClock will pretty much be the gold standard for alarm clock apps.

Remarkable

2026-04-08

A stunningly beautiful app designed with a very careful attention to detail. It works as you would expect it to and is honestly a fantastic experience. Worth downloading.

Best alarm app

2026-05-10

Been with Midnight since day 1 on TestFlight. Dev is super receptive and innovative in all his apps. This is the best alarm app I’ve ever used and has lots of features that others don’t have

🤭🤭🤭

2026-06-10

MidnightAlarmClock has gotten me laid at least four times within the past three months

Yesssss

2024-07-26

Thank you for a reliable service and the only one of the alarms to actually let you download your own tracks. Unlike the other alarms that make you use Apple iTunes, which is trash I don’t want to pay a $10 subscription. Thank you for not being stupid stupid capitalist scum👍

I have been looking for this.

2024-06-13

I have been trying to do what MidnightAlarmClock does forever. I first started by trying to make a shortcut but there isn’t a way to do it and eventually someone suggested MidnightAlarmClock and it is amazing.

Another go!

2024-04-01

Going to give MidnightAlarmClock another go around since it’s been updated. Love the idea and MidnightAlarmClock looks great. Hopefully it just works and is reliable.

Love the future date alarm feature!

2024-04-01

Why is it so hard to find an alarm app that lets you set an alarm at a specific date in the future? Thankfully I found MidnightAlarmClock by word of mouth, I love it!
