8Words was great and offered unlimited play until today. Not sure what they’ve done but the words are sometimes unsolvable due to errors in the puzzle, you can no longer change settings, your score is not given, you can no longer play more than once daily. Don’t waste your time with 8Words.

I really love this game, and the 8-way Wordle concept is so much fun and such a cool challenge. But 8Words could use some help. Today I couldn’t solve the puzzle because the answer to my final word was 6 letters long. (The word was AFRAID. I had revealed that the word needed A, F, I, R, and D, but I couldn’t figure out what 5-letter word those letters could make together. Turns out it was a 6-letter word. As far as I know, Wordle-style games never use more than 5 letters unless explicitly specified.) This has only happened once, but that shouldn’t be happening.

It would also be a neat feature if 8Words could have an area to store statistics. I love that 8Words has allowed users the function of scrolling through their answers. It would just be cool if we could see, for instance, our average score or something.

UPDATE: I just checked the game today, in December 2024, and it doesn’t work at all anymore. Inputting a word doesn’t generate any hints anymore; the letters are always gray.

Please reveal missed words when done and explain what the different icons means when sharing scores. Can’t translate the icons into the score when sharing. All I get is a frozen screen without any options when done. I’d like to scroll through and see my end result and observe my progress but you can’t do anything once finished.

Love the idea of 8Words but on several occasions it has listed words with too many letters. The point is 5 letter words but I’ve found them using words such as “afraid” or “blessed” adding letters that don’t fit causing confusion. Someone needs to spot check their work on this…

The developer is getting too clever. We now have days where the words all rhyme, today the word “phone” was used TWICE, and the new paid functionality is clumsy and too expensive.

Go back to the simple, random, elegant game it was before.

Also encountering constant errors. Reducing to 2 stars.

Not the best app. Words can also be plural, which introduces a whole other element to being able to solve. Should just be singular words. Also doesn’t tell the player if they are using incorrect spelling. Just lets the player enter whatever they want.

Fun game but definitely some frustrations. First, if you mistype a word, it will still take it unlike Wordle or Quordle which only lets you enter a real word. So this can be super frustrating because you waste a turn if you mistype your guess (plus I suppose this means you could cheat by entering a bunch of letters). Second, some of the words are totally obscure. Like “haust”. Most dictionaries don’t even have it as a real word. I’ll still play it but not my favorite…

I cannot see my score unless I copy and paste into another app such as text messaging.

There are also no settings or at least I cannot figure out where to click to find them.

There is no explanation of how scoring is applied. I’ve found all 8 words with three rows remaining and scored lower than when I found 8 words with no remaining rows. The results indicate some numbers and some watches. I’m just a bit confused.

The really annoying part for me, however, occurs when I’m playing the game and guess a word with a double letter. If the correct word only has a single letter it will still highlight the double letter yellow so I think I’ve got to guess a word with that double letter. That’s misleading and not how the other apps function.

I’ll share an example -

Correct word = NOISE
Word Guess = INNER
This game highlights yellow = INNE
It should highlight yellow = INE

I spent time trying to figure out a word with double N and was going too far off track.

Nice app version of the website I never remember to go back and play on but too many errors. Drove me nuts trying to find a word that fit the clues… the clues were wrong. Not gonna spend real money on an app that can’t spell the words.

I love this game, but am having issues with it not responding now. No letters are turning yellow or green at all. I am not sure why. I have been using the free version and so not know if there is a limit on usage if only doing the one free one each day. I deleted and reloaded 8Words , still nothing. Tried over the course of three different days. Disappointing because it really is a good challenge. Would give more stars if it still worked.

My first time playing

(1) Ending should be improved. I didn’t solve today’s…. It just “locked down” with a pop up “better luck next time see ya tomorrow copy your score”. It won’t let me scroll through my puzzle or go to a “home” screen or anything! Wordle lets u share the score (blinding the guesses) AND take a pic of your guesses - which our family shares after everyone has played.

(2) Also, an option to show gray/yellow/green keyboard per word ( seeing status for all 8 is hard to follow sometimes and unnecessary)

Games is fun to play and happy it is an app instead of a website as it is more helpful for me to remember to play. However, there are bugs. Today, for example it indicated two out of place E’s when the solution only had one.

A pretty fun app…but the past two days, when I type in words, no letters light up. There’s no new update for 8Words either to explain why it might not be working on my phone. Has the dev stopped supporting 8Words?

Love this game. Gives me a better challenge than Wordle. However, I feel like this game glitches more than it works. Send help or let us know if no one is working on 8Words any longer 🙄

App is nice but often there are multiples of the same letter when the word only has one. This becomes discouraging and there are people who have opted out of 8Words because of this.

I enjoy the game but right now it’s not saying any of the letters are in any of the words. This happened one other time and it corrected itself but right now I can’t use the puzzle at all.

How do I share the completed puzzle?
There isn’t any pull down menu or anything else on the game. It lets you copy, but where are they.

I love the game but when I’m complete the only option I have is to copy my scores. Is there anyway to see my stats?

I love it. Just wish I was able to do more than 1 a day.

Puzzle has not been working for 3 days now.
