Cool idea but the UI is kinda boring and I probably won’t end up using it because I may as well stick with my other 5 social medias I already have

I asked their social media person a simple question all week and was ignored while that person continuously answered others and engaged in posts not related to RetroAdFreeSocial . Moreover, RetroAdFreeSocial starts the week with Monday and not Sunday! That’s a huge error! The first day of the week is Sunday, not Monday. Please change this.

This looked like a great app, but as a creator I read the terms and make sure my art is not going to be taken advantage of and it really feels like that is the case with RetroAdFreeSocial. When you post in RetroAdFreeSocial you’re giving them a license to distribute and sell your images if they so like. Do you think we’ll get a cut? Probably not. I’m planning to delete RetroAdFreeSocial .

I wish a new app would become king over instagram. That app has been completely ruined by META. The only issue with these other apps that try to compete with instagram is that no one wants to leave the more successful leading app and start over unless you really blow people out of the water with features or something else. If I were to join RetroAdFreeSocial, I’d see posts from not one person I’d know.

I actually really love RetroAdFreeSocial. I use it a lot like a digital journal for my favorite memories and photos, and I have loved sending myself and my friends postcards. My problem is that I ran out of “free” postcards and there doesn’t seem to be a way to send them now. I would totally pay a small fee or even a small subscription to keep sending postcards, so PLEASE make it so that i can send them! it was my favorite feature!! I would send an email but I didn’t see an email address in RetroAdFreeSocial , only and instagram (which I don’t use right now)

I have some friends that I would be happy to have them see my posts but their posts often contain images of people that I don’t want to see in my close circle social media. It would be great if I could hide their posts from my feed so we can still be friends without causing me psychological harm.

Love that I’m able to share in a space that I’m comfortable in, but hard to find people that I want to share with. Kind of feels like an enhanced gallery since I have weak ties on it right now.

good ux, understand the value prop! please add captions to photos :) and potentially some better discovery? part of what makes instagram / twitter interesting is the ability to connect with new people -- I'd like to see retro build something that makes it feel default more "alive" in! also, out of curiosity... how are you planning to monetize?

Really enjoying the format of RetroAdFreeSocial and the simplicity. SUCH a breath of fresh air from Instagram. I love that there is no endless scrolling. Just a way for me to put my photos together with some thoughts and be grateful for MY life without comparing to others!

The one issue I’ve run into that I’m trying to figure out is how I can add photos to my timeline that weren’t taken on my iPhone. I have some photos I would love to add taken on my canon camera and there’s no option to add those even though I’ve downloaded them to my phone.

Retro is one of my favorite social media apps because it makes social causal again and brings it back to what it’s supposed to be. I love checking retro on the daily!! It’s so fun. What i also love about it, is that it’s a way for me to pick my favorite photos of the week and almost use it as photo album back log. Which I love since i have so many photos on my phone that just get lost.

Their postcard feature is amazing too!!!! And they’re beautiful when printed!!! Amazing feature. Never seen this done before. 10/10!!!

my new favorite app as I’m becoming old for IG & TikToK
love that it’s so simple to use: posting pics everyday like a diary, no filters(!!!! we are real!!!), can post videos, comment on friends pics, etc.
my favorite part of this new social media app is that you can’t see others’ likes- no pressure and awesome for people who don’t care about how many people are active on others profile. truly feels like a fun way to tell close friends what i’m up to every day/week.

What I love about Retro is that it is just for me. I don’t have to worry about monetization or ads or discovering what other people that I don’t know, are doing other than my friends and family. There are other apps for that. This is a great app for making a photo book of your year and sharing it with the people you love. I have fun every week, deciding what pictures to share and to create my memories.

Instagram used to be this to a degree. All I’d see on my feed are the things I wanna see. And just posts. Instagram has now changed. Ads, stories, mixed feeds, and a store tab. There’s just too much on there now. They’ve moved away from what made them Instagram.

Retros is such a good replacement. I see only the feeds I want to see and don’t have a bunch of nonsense attached lol.

Kudos to the makers. Keep it simple!

When I saw an ad for this pop up, I really assumed it was going to be another flash in the pan photo sharing app with a poor user interface.

Instead, I was met with a surprisingly easy to use and incredibly fun social platform. The potential is here to rival that of Instagram, and most likely surpass it. Retro will definitely become super popular if it hasn’t started to uptick already.

Retro is a throwback to the days of the original social networks. The promise of sharing freely with your friends and family and nothing else. The desire to share with close friends has not changed but the platforms have moved on. Retro brings back those delightful moments. Loving it so far. I am breaking my addiction to Instagram and Facebook, and this is so much better than those platforms because it lets me click on pictures quickly and not feel like they need to be edited or filtered. It feels like a lot less pressure, but I still get to share pictures of my life!

great casual photo journaling app with a laidback friends feature. doesn't feel like overly curated instagram and is a great way to document your life weekly using photos. please keep ads off. the only big piece of feedback i have is to please move the add friends section down on the friends tab.. i've gotten 9 friends to join RetroAdFreeSocial so far (some of which have also got some of their friends to join as well) and i don't like how it's split my friends into 2 scrollable pages instead of just fitting more friends onto on page and pushing the invite/add section a bit lower. i get there's a big focus on inviting since this is a new app but the invite page already has this so it's redundant to keep it so high on the friends page. also i'd love a feature to be able to reorganize my friends as right now they are in order of when i added them and can't be moved around which is frustrating especially with only being able to see 6 friends per page. a simple hold/drag/drop just like reorganizing apps on homescreen would be intuitive and easy. thanks for creating a great app so far!

This is what I wish Instagram was; Simple and unobstructed by posts from thousands of random people and ads. I hope RetroAdFreeSocial gains traction so the people I actually care to share with will consider using it. I’ve already tried inviting a few so we’ll see how that goes.

I have two other friends on RetroAdFreeSocial and the push notifications are so good I don't text them anymore - we just have discussions in the comments of posts. RetroAdFreeSocial is perfect, and I don't want a single thing to change.

I’ve been looking for an app to capture and share personal photos for life’s big and small moments. Since many photos include photos of my kids, privacy is super important to me as is having control over use and visibility of the photos. And Retro has delivered!

I love how easy it is to post and review photos, and the weekly and yearly recaps are a wonderful delight. I also love how it incentivizes posting by locking the week until you post, which prevents followers from lurking without sharing. The whole design and experience makes it feel more intimate and real unlike other social media that ends up feeling performative and full of ads.

If you’re looking for a more personal, honest social photo sharing app, this is the one for you!

Retro is a unique photo sharing app that seems to take user privacy seriously. Photos are shared only among your friends, and are not visible publicly. My favorites album doesn’t quite do the trick and it’s been so nice to surprise friends and family with postcards.

Retro is like a quiet little journal where I keep some photos I really like and also some of the day to day so I can look back on it and remember.

It’s well designed and enjoyable. The kind of app I’d build for myself and my friends.

This is such a fun app and totally free too! Everyone should at least try it. I don’t usually write reviews but I had to for retro. It’s so fun to post a photo a day with a little caption. It’s also so fun to see my friends photos. It feels different than Instagram or Snapchat. Idk how to describe it but it’s seriously slowly becoming my favorite app. The monthly recaps are so cool and customizable and you can even print them out or send people postcards. It’s so impressive. Kudos to the team behind RetroAdFreeSocial. Keep going. The only thing I would say is whenever I show someone they app, they tell me they’ve never heard of it! I would suggest some marketing or social media presence to spread the word bc I feel like once more people know about RetroAdFreeSocial, it’ll blow up. Wishing yall nothing but success! Thanks for such a cool app. 🫶🏼

Just started using this and it’s a great little app. It is like a throwback to old days of IG but better: especially love the recap view. I was even tempted to invite a few friends lol but I’m waiting to see how I use it long term. Since you can only have one account/handle (as far as I can see) I went back and forth trying to decide how I was gonna use it: photo dump, visual journal, hobby tracker etc. I wanted to use it multiple ways like I do with IG and the separate accts I have on there but don’t see that option yet. But so far I love the way RetroAdFreeSocial works, it’s smart and intuitive and ad-free. And I love being able to control who sees my stuff and cut the noise of lots of random feeds floating through my own. Great job folks: please don’t junk it up with random access, and ads and filters and reels! Thanks for making this and advertising it on IG so I could find it!

I was looking for an app to connect with my friends who live far away (because we aren’t great with texting..) I don’t know why it was so hard to find an app to meet our needs?? We’ve tried to stay connected with Instagram, Snapchat, Locket, and other messaging apps but this is the one that stuck! 💓 I love that you can upload from your album, upload videos, the Recap feature, that each week is separated, and the UI is cleann! There are no captions, so we just type a comment and it works the same. Honestly, it’s basically a filtered version of my camera roll and I love it.
(Would love if there was a cute widget for RetroAdFreeSocial 🙈)

I’m trying to convince all my friends to get it it is honestly so perfect.
Only things missing would be a web view where you can give Keys to people trying to access your Retro Page (for example Grandparents who can’t navigate RetroAdFreeSocial ) I would LOVE a feature like that!
And maybe texting your friends (so I can convince more of my friends to switch they really like to text over instagram for some reason)
Keep it up!!!
Also Postcards is a GREAT IDEAS LOVE IT

This is my favorite photo sharing app, full stop. Posting is effortless and fun. The UX is thoughtful and intuitive. There aren’t any ads so I have no idea how it’s going to stay afloat but I sure hope it does!
