MammaBaby - Breast feeding App & Baby Log Tracker Reviews

MammaBaby is very helpful for tracking information about baby’s food intake, diaper output, and sleep amounts. It is so easy to use.
The only complaint that I have is regarding the summary section. It does not look like it was made for a smartphone, but rather for a desktop computer so the layout is horizontal and you have to zoom in to read the data.

Here are some features that I would like to see in MammaBaby :
-Add a way to have multiple users connected to the same profile so that multiple people could enter data on different devices for the same child.
-Update the summary page to not only include suggested amounts for feedings and diapers that are age appropriate (right now it just has general suggestions), but also total amounts for the data entered in as the day progresses.
-During late night feedings when mom is tired, it’s easy to forget to stop the feeding time tracker. It would be very helpful if a reminder could pop up at a set interval (the user can choose the frequency- 15, 30, 45, 60 mins) to ask if the user is still nursing. This will help the user to have a more accurate time, rather than ending up with a “300 minute feeding” which you have to go back and guess how long you were nursing for which defeats the purpose of tracking.

Other than those suggestions, I would recommend MammaBaby, especially to first time parents. It’s helpful to have the data easily available to share with your child’s pediatrician or healthcare provider.

MammaBaby is awesome. Although it didn’t give us a 7 day trial, we decided to just go with it and buy MammaBaby . I got a recommendation from some pregnancy related blog. I’m glad we went with it, it’s so easy to use and straight forward while giving great raw data to trend on how your baby might be doing. Also, my husband has it on his phone and we can both use the same account...amazing! The only reason I gave it 4/5 (I wish I could give it 4.5) is I would want to see some slight changes. I would like to see MammaBaby count the number of feedings per day, not just the minutes and just count how many poopy and how many wet for the day, so I don’t have to count from the wet and poopy (I realize I could just log them as such, but getting my husband on board with this might just topple him over). I would definitely recommend this to any new parents!!

This is almost exactly the tool I need to help keep track of my newborn's sleep, diapers, and feedings. I use it religiously and shudder to think of the alternatives--pen & paper? Excel? My own memory??

That said, there is one key feature I wish it had, which is the ability to view data, specifically feedings and sleep, displayed visually over time in a way that makes it easy to discern whether a pattern or schedule is forming. There is a feature that shows quantity per day, which is helpful, but it doesn't show me when those quantities occurred each day relative to other days. In this crazy period where days blur together, being able to see a very clear data visualization that (hopefully) points to a trend would be a lifesaver!

Covers the basics and easy to document information.

Strongly agree with review by Lanorod -- I want to be able to identify patterns across days. The total sleep or feeding for each day is only so useful. But to see if the baby is waking up overnight around the same time, for example, I would have to go into each specific day and pull out the data and try to reconstruct it outside MammaBaby . It seems like wasted effort to document data without being able to make better use of it.

There should be a way to differentiate formula bottle feeding from breastmilk bottle feeding, apart from just a note in an entry.

The soiled diaper options don't really cover the range of reality -- you should be able to document color separately from texture.

Less important, there should be a separate section for general notes about the day. As of now I track numerical things in MammaBaby and then take notes on observations of diaper / feeding / sleep / behavior in Evernote. The issue is partly accessing the info -- again it's just too clunky to go into a specific day, to a specific diaper or feeding. But also that I don't have time or inclination to take detailed notes on each diaper or feeding, I'd rather summarize for the day and use that as a quick and easily accessible reference when I want to look back at baby history.

There is no way I could remember every diaper and feeding. Being able to go back and look at the data over the day really helps keep everything straight. So important when you are not sleeping the first few nights and are having issues breastfeeding. MammaBaby helped me remember baby boy is getting what he needs even with latching issues and a forceful let down. Knowing how many wet and dirty diapers doesn't seem very important until you are in the thick of it. Knowing times of changing and feeding has helped us find a routine and even get 7 plus hours of sleep last night and our son isn't even a week old yet.

I also love the graphs and the daily summary features.

MammaBaby has helped with tracking feedings and diaper changes, but I think it could be made even better with some improvements. The biggest complaint I have is that I am not the only one in the house who is changing diapers and feeding. Instead of having to constantly ask my husband about diapers etc., it would be helpful if both mom and dad, for example, could be able to log on to separate devices and synch the information.

MammaBaby is good, but could use some graphic updates. It is easy to use, but I wish there was a way we could see which entry we left notes under without having to go through all of the entries. Also, it would be great if we could personalize MammaBaby to our liking (I.e. background color and organize the tabs). This is not a free app, so we should be able to do more. Another thing that needs work is being able to use one account on more than 1 device. I logged in on another one of my devices and it tells me I need to pay to use MammaBaby features again. This doesn’t make sense when I am logged in to an already paid account. Fix those issues and I may bump my rating up some more.

MammaBaby is great for keeping everything in one place including breastfeeding time for each breast, which side last feeding finished on, bottle and solid food feedings, diaper details and tracking growth, sleep and milestones. The best part is that it syncs with multiple devices so we don't miss a beat whether using iPhone, iPad or husband's devices. For less than you'd pay for a dedicated notebook, it is totally worth the money and saves you from the tedious task of writing everything down (and keeping a notebook close by at all times since most people almost always have their phones with them at all times)!

MammaBaby has allowed me to accurately track feedings for my baby. Without this I was trying to remember the time I started and stopped in order to write it down. It ended up being more of an estimate of time than being accurate. I love that there is a timer that you can pause and restart as well as the ability to show switching from one side to the other. You also can edit times or add a time manually if I forgot to start the timer. I find it user friendly. Diaper function is easy to use and I love that I can add my babies growing statistics and see where she is on a chart.

I use this everyday to keep track of which side was last and time between feedings. Can track diapers if needed. Can also log baby's growth.

To make MammaBaby even better, I would love these changes:

Be able to remove Diaper (or any section) from the screen. I don't use the Diaper function.

Be able to change 1st or 2nd side in edit mode and even track 3rd or 4th for babies who switch back and forth when breastfeeding. I occasionally would use a 3rd side option and sometimes mark the wrong side and need to change it.

For Sleep, I would like to see beginning and ending time of last sleep and time (not just starting time). I use the wake up time to figure out the next nap, so it would be useful.

And finally, be able to dim the screen beyond the normal slider for the iPhone. It's still bright during night feedings. I use a work-around magnification filter called Low Light, but it would be easier to have this in MammaBaby .

It gets the job done for the most important things, but could be better by adding features such as pumping details, medications given to baby(there's an alarm for that but no way to record it), and more options to specify what type of solid food baby eats rather than just the amount of "tbs", which isn't an abbreviation for any food-related measurement in the United States (TBSP is tablespoon and tsp is teaspoon). Given that there are other paid apps that offer all of these features and more, I do not recommend MammaBaby to others and will probably be choosing a different app when I have my next baby.

The latest visual update does look nice, though.

I’ve used this with two kids and it has been ok. I mainly use it to figure out what side I fed on last. Whenever I open it to look at what side I fed on last, majority of the time it has not updated with my last feed. You have to click on it and then click back to get it to update. This seems like something that should be done automatically. This drives me nuts bc I start feeding on the wrong side and then have to pull him off = angry baby. Also, it takes forever to load which is super frustrating when you have a screaming, hungry baby. MammaBaby is simple to use and you can have it for multiple children, so I like that. I also like that my husband can have it on his phone in case he is going to get a bottle.

Great for first time parents. I love how you can set an alarm for vitamins and medications, the alarm songs are so sweet. Very easy to navigate through, I love the colors and how it’s set up. The only thing I would change is adding a note section. Been using MammaBaby since 2016 right after I had my baby. I downloaded it right in my hospital bed, put her first picture in the picture section and started keeping track. Currently on baby number 3 and I’m still using it!

I used MammaBaby in Nov 2016 with my first child and really enjoyed it's simplicity and tracking. This go around MammaBaby makes me login each time I hit summary, even if I hit the "remember me" button. It won't transfer the picture in MammaBaby to my online summary either. The diapering and adding the feedings is easy but looking at the trends and summary is very disappointing. Also I had all the stats from my first baby saved in MammaBaby which I have paid for but have no way to access them now that I want to compare children. Her profile is there but everything is essentially erased. Disappointed.

Update: I'm a working mom that needs to pump so an option to track that in the feeding section would be awesome!

Great app for tracking several things. *Update*: this was fixed with the last update. Thank you!!! My only feedback is that I cannot access the last feeding of the night to make adjustments because MammaBaby won't let me scroll all the way down. Adjustments need to be made sometimes when I forget to push stop or if I fall asleep feeding the baby.

Wife and I both purchased MammaBaby since the information would share to both our phones so we could keep it updated if one parent was away. It worked for about 2 months but then MammaBaby updated and we can no longer sync information. We tried to contact the developer but got no response. We tried restarting MammaBaby , re-downloading MammaBaby , but nothing we do will sync our phones to MammaBaby again. It’s a great app if one person wants to keep info on it but the sync feature does not work.

I’m a first time mom and MammaBaby is seriously so helpful. Doctors and pediatricians will ask what your babies daily stuff is like feeding, sleeping and how many diapers on a daily you’ll change. I myself have a horrible memory when it comes to that. And to have my phone so close by (usually) it’s just a simple button press and I can go back to paying attention to my son. Seriously so helpful in the long run!

THANK YOU FOR SO PROMPTLY FIXING THE BUG WITH THE LAST UPDATE! I couldn't live without MammaBaby. I've been so pleased with it for the 2 months we've had our son. The last update caused some problems, but after a few users left feedback it was corrected immediately. I am again praising MammaBaby! Thank you for providing such a valuable resource to parents & responding to our feedback so quickly. This mama is won for life!

I've used this since my daughter was born to record her feedings and diaper changes (I never did record sleep, but it has that option). I also use it to chart her growth. It's simple to use, and honestly, if I didn't have this I would never remember which boob we're on. Now that she's older and in daycare, I love the ability to simultaneously record breast feeding minutes, bottle feeding ounces, and tablespoons of solid food.

Highly recommended.

The ability to sync between multiple devices makes MammaBaby fantastic. The new UI changes are nice. Before the update, sometimes we would have to sync manually. But since the update, we haven't had any issues with that. And as annoying as that inconvenience occasionally happened, it really wasn't that big of a deal. And I love inputting his stats every time we visit the doctor because it plots his growth against the WHO chart.
