After the constant push to download the WHIO weather app I decided to try it.
I have to say that this is the most annoying app I’ve ever worked with. This weekend I was barraged with notifications of severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches and warnings. Unfortunately, I have no idea where all this was. When I tried to see the watch or warning, I got a video commercial and that was it. Why can I just read where the warning is? I don’t have time or the inclination to watch a video. WHIOWeather is way to busy and not useful for me. Time to try something else.

I remember way way back when WHIOWeather was actually good. Before the videos before the crazy amount of ads. I just want the weather like what WHIOWeather is labeled as!
No one wants your live news if we did we would download the news version. COX media and WHIO just want to shove their crap down everyone’s throat for a click or money. What’s more annoying is the constant notifications that are forced about a new video even though I have that feature off. I have never seen them reply to people acknowledging they made a mistake or even saying they appreciate feedback. All I see if a reply is if a bot or someone gives five stars for a hi message. I’ve seen people give five stars and they complain about WHIOWeather clearly the apps true rating doesn’t show because of that. If it did the true rating would at most be a two star!

When are you going to pay attention to all of the negative reviews and change WHIOWeather back to the older version everyone loved? Can’t you see these negative ratings? None of the little fixes solve the problems. WHIOWeather is too busy and too convoluted with junk we don’t need! Users are busy and want to see the 7-day forecast and radar! Could it be you can’t change it until the ad programs you sold expire? And what good are ads that get less eyeballs? Why else wouldn’t you change it back NOW? Luckily I told my husband not to update WHIOWeather on his phone or the iPad. He picked up my phone the day after the tornadoes and said he couldn’t make heads or tails out of it! I never use it on my phone now. Change WHIOWeather back to the clear, concise, colorful, uncluttered version it once way and quite monkeying around with something that people hate and doesn’t work!!!!!!!!

Among many problems with this new app version, one that sticks out to me is having to watch video to get a “watch” or “warning.” I have a child that is extremely disturbed by storms and it is not convenient to watch a video to find out if we are in a watch or warning.
It also highly disturbs me that after a major weather catastrophe like we just had, I would have to try to dodge ads to even see the current conditions for my area. (After all, even that is very difficult to locate on this new app design.)
I will give the design one more chance, but I will also be comparing other designs to this because a change maybe necessary. You can’t wait for change to happen that never does when it can mean life or death.

It could be called “Weather Watcher 7” or “Weather Center 7”. Anything but such a negative word. About WHIOWeather . First thing you should see is the temperature, then current conditions & all else if you want it. Also , stop trying to include everyone by saying, “You will need a coat or a jacket & perhaps gloves and a hat if you are heading for the buss stop or walking or maybe you will be outside working or.. “. For goodness sake, get on with the DETAILS!!!! I like the women because they get to be he point - geeze!!!!

Changing an app is not always an improvement. Several issues have ruined WHIOWeather. 1) It is too busy, too many categories, too many videos (who wants to have to stop what they’re doing to watch a video?) 2) Ads...the biggest pain for all app users. Too many ads, often splashed right over content, very distracting, and the user is forced to endure the ads by accepting them or go through an Ad Preference exercise (meaning you WILL see distracting ads, like it or not) 3) Weather warnings seem to have disappeared, did not happen at all during a recent tornado warning 4) An app is supposed to make things easier and streamlined, a simpler user experience. WHIOWeather fails in that category.

WHIOWeather is poorly designed. If you open WHIOWeather and then open it again after a couple of hours, it crashes with the message “Error unable to display data, check your wifi settings”. I have verified with many of my colleagues that they too are receiving the same message on both ipads and iphones when connected to wifi.
There are too many large ads that obscure viewing the information on the screen. I could not even see the hourly forecast because of a huge Quest eseries rider ad.
Surely WHIO has enough revenue to make an ad free app.
As it stands, there are much better ad free weather apps to use.

I prefer WHIO’s old app. Easier to read without the the ads and videos. love WHIO weather app. Easy to see what was coming at a glance especially needing to know the situation of bad weather. Now it’s videos and video ads of WHIO. The store not user friendly. Videos are not saving time.

An alert showed up on my phone tonight of a tornado watch which you could see a few of the effective counties but not all. When I tried to find the listing, it took a long time due to the videos. There are also many pop-up ads too. I’m not fond of the weather channel but I may switch.

I wish you would bring back the old app.

I used to LOVE the WHIO weather app! Used to being the really important part of that sentence. Now I really don’t like it at all. I am considering going back to the Weather Channel app and I didn’t like it either.
It is very hard to find alerts. I don’t want to watch a video about them. I just want to be able to quickly glance at WHIOWeather to know what’s going on.
I also don’t like the announcer that tells me heavy rain is detected in my area. I can see and hear that, and I usually see and hear it before the announcement comes.
Where the heck did you guys put the current temperature?!?!? That used to be front and center. That’s what most people want to know. I don’t want to watch all the videos. I want to look at WHIOWeather and see for myself. I never watched the forecast on the previous version, I’m not starting now.
No one in the area that has WHIOWeather that I have talked to likes it either. Please change it back!!!!!!

The notifications from WHIOWeather are excessive and redundant. I estimate I get anywhere from six to eight notifications a day. The notification preferences screen is confusing. I want to be sure I get notifications for severe weather and I’d even like the occasional alert for possible rain, I guess, but a 5-day forecast notification and three notifications a day telling me it’s hot outside is just too much.

I do not like the new weather. I loved the old ! It was simple to use. I especially liked the old radar. I always could tell where the storms were and whether they were going close to me. Now it goes so fast and half is a projection. The background is dark and hard to see. If you gave us an option, I would choose the old. Looks like you adopted what everyone is using now instead of your own radar as before! I used to check weather when we were traveling or hearing storms where parents and even sister lives. Can’t do that either. I’m not happy.

If I want to watch a 25 second forecast video, I am forced to first endure a 15 to 30 second ad for a video game of a car dealer. Sometimes the ad is longer than the forecast video. And it’s for EVERY video every time, even if I just watched another video. With this amount of over advertising, I rarely watch the forecasts or special videos.

I just love WHIOWeather, especially the radar and hour/daily weather forecasts. On the radar, I can see exactly when precipitation will occur at my location. I just wish their web site weather pages were as useful. Most apps have ads built in to help pay for it’s development. It’s no big deal. Sure there are some features I have no interest in, but others might find them useful.

I have been watching WHIO for years and have come to depend upon their accuracy in their weather forecasts. I find them to be the best of the best! Keep up the good work, and I’ll remain faithful.

Would like option to change background color. The current color makes forecast hard to see. Also, app keeps crashing. About every two days I have to delete and reinstall.

I love channel 7! I trust their meteorologists! But my channel 7 app will not open. It had been but since last evening (Jan. 21) it will not open. All my other apps seem to be ok and the other functions of my phone seem to be ok. Anyone else having issues?

7 weather has the best meteorological team in our area. Weather is a tough thing to be accurate at times, but they care about its impact and us as a viewing group. Thank you for the hardest job to make people happy at all, behind umpires.

The latest update worthless. Every time I open it, it says that my location is unavailable. Hello people I’m 30 miles east of Dayton! I’ve deleted WHIOWeather and reinstalled it but I get the same message. I love the radar that WHIO gives us and I really don’t want to go to another channel app. Please fix this!

Thank goodness I have WHIOWeather . Because DIRECT TV dropped the station!! Not sure what we’re going to do during severe spring/summer/ early fall severe weather. The satellite reception is completely shuts off , so I rely on WHIOWeather !!- learning to interpret those weather maps!!—& the weather outside of its during the day, out in the country

The up-to-date local weather for Springfield ohio. A number of terrific reporters and meteorologists. I depend on their accurate information. Watch it at 6:00 am and 11:00 pm. I am really upset that att/directv has dropped this channel. Some of my favorite programs are on 7 - NCIS, Blue Bloods, etc. Supposedly negotiations are still going on but no agreement so far.

Overall WHIOWeather seemed decent enough until the tornadoes a few days ago. That’s when I found out that the weather alerts don’t work. It doesn’t matter how many locations I add, WHIOWeather claims that I don’t have any locations set so I cannot turn on weather alerts. Since I have turned off the built in weather app, I didn’t get any warnings. Good thing I was watching TV at my friends house that night or I never would have known what was heading toward us.

This one freezes up, is too awkward to understand, and consistently tell me there are WiFi issues when everything else on my phone is working just fine. I used the old app for several years and loved it.

I am now going to delete WHIOWeather and go to weather channel app. I didn’t want to have to do it but I give up.

We just had a tornado warning where I live, but even though my push notifications are all active and everything in the settings is set up fine, I never received any tornado warning alert through WHIOWeather . Luckily I heard the sirens and saw it on channel 7 when I turned the TV on, but I'm about to move a little further out into the country, so I'm not going to be able to rely on any siren.

I have used WHIOWeather daily for years and loved it, up until recently when you updated it. Half the time it doesn’t work, it’s constantly crashing, and was much easier to navigate and understand before. I also used to receive notifications every time it rained, stormed etc. and now I don’t get anything. I wish more than anything you’d change back to how it was!

The color coding on the weather alerts is terrible. I shouldn’t have to compare and contrast in a moment of urgency to determine watch vs warning vs t-storm vs tornado. Nor should I have to sit through an ad before can view the “tornado warning in your area” video. And please help me understand why I can’t tap a warning box on the radar and actually read the information about the warning.

The alerts are not very loud with this new voice announcement it’s terrible please change back to the old alert at least I could hear the voice announcement across the room. This new one it’s been changed to every since the Tornados hit on Memorial Day is the worst ever not good considering we have Tornado watches tonight and this boring monotone voice doesn’t catch your attention I had to download a different weather app. Please Fix this

Deleted it a while back. If the old app comes back or something better that is not a royal pain or frustrating, please announce it on T.V. Didn’t know there were so many horrible reviews as I thought it was just me. I was ready to come back until I read the reviews.
Back to WHIOWeather Store to try something else as my newest app (A major one) didn’t work out either due to location updating only once every 3 hours and taking way too long to open.

The new interface is less friendly. It’s cluttered. The new version of WHIOWeather is “buggy” and frequently generates location errors. This upgrade has given me a reason to look for a better app. I’d take the old version over this. I’m confident something better is out there since the old version was better.

I deleted your app because it was too busy, too hard to read. I liked the old clear concise app. Today I tried it again, it’s better. But I still liked the old one better.
