The S&S archives are such a great resource, but the online version always had a ghastly search function. SightSound ’s search function is non-existent. What’s the point of decades worth of articles that can’t be searched?

I thought the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite was a shoddy tablet magazine creation tool, but PageSuite makes Adobe's apps (The New Yorker, National Geographic, Fast Company) look downright exemplary. First of all, why are the menus on top and bottom of the page ever-present? One tap on the screen should hide them, they're distracting and ugly. And pages load in what can be described in film geek speak as a checkerboard wipe. For a classy, standard-bearer publication like Sight & Sound to be presented in such in a clunky way is disappointing. I was looking forward to a digital-only subscription but after having looked through this first issue I'm going to have to stick to the newsstand or, more likely, not reading it altogether. Prove me wrong with subsequent updates, please!

SightSound, in addition to being poorly designed, is painfully slow even on a 4S and the new iPad. The content is there but is worthless without usability. I love the magazine but this is just depressing. Hoping for an upgrade soon, especially because I'd love to get the subscription to the archives. Until then, I'll be relying on my physical copy.

It's really not much more than scans of the magazine pages, but the biggest flaw is that it doesn't remember your page when you close SightSound . So you have to go through a lot of slow-loading pages to try to figure out where you were.

I paid for a 6 month long subscription and i completely regret it. Sight and sound is great, but SightSound is just absolutely horrible - slow, clunky, almost illegible. I still can’t figure out how to access the digital subscription on my computer. Customer Support s the worst. Can i give you a negative star? Can i have my money back?

I have been a print subscriber for two years, S & S offered a free digital edition and access to archives. The registration process tedious, password assigned does not work and zero customer support. Great mag in print, if they can't up their game digitally don't offer digital issues!

After months of inconsistent access to the material I've paid for, and a total lack of response from PageSuite's customer service, SightSound now totally fails to accept my password, has deleted all my back issues and ask me to pay again for new editions.
Final nail in the coffin: SightSound refuses to open in iOS7.
I can understand the occasional glitch but complete denial of access, combined with zero response to repeated emails tells me that the BFI have partnered with the wrong vendor. I'm returning to the print edition until SightSound grows up.
