SatFinder Pro Satellite Finder Reviews

SatFinderProSatelliteFinder is a pain to use. I’ve been in the satellite business for over 40 years since the days of c-band. It has good information but. I just want to select the satellite I want and then look thru the camera to find it without all the other satellites showing up. That way I can determine line of sight. Way to many satellites on screen to do this. In the sun and trying to pick satellite is a pain.

It used to show me Dish Network satellites. Now it doesn’t. No names on any satellites at all.

I am a Master Technician for Dish Network. I got SatFinderProSatelliteFinder to test it out. (Looking for something to recommend to my trainees) so far I have found the 110,119,129 have been over 20 degrees off is some cases. I've updated the databases with no improvement. Don't try waste your money on SatFinderProSatelliteFinder.

Very disappointed. Azimuth not working. Power on does not show screens it should. No provision to reload program. Help video is a presentation of what the program is disposed to do not how to do it. Not recommended.

SatFinderProSatelliteFinder had a lot of promise for use with our SNG (Satellite News Gathering) trucks to visualize a parking spot in the field to make sure a satellite is visible and not blocked by buildings or terrain.

Originally, the satellite's names would be displayed in the sky view. Now just the satellite longitude position is visible. No longer useful for our non-tech truck drivers.

You've upgraded yourself out of a couple dozen copies.

SatFinderProSatelliteFinder is too confusing and not worth the effort. Trying to figure out what satellite to point your dish at is a challenge. I have a camper and use a dish for DirecTv on a tripod. SatFinderProSatelliteFinder has no options to filter your dish provider which would be helpful.

When you could turn SatFinderProSatelliteFinder on and point to the sky and actually see the satellites, this was a good app. Now you see an orbital slot but not the position. Why did you blank out the degree positions?

It often says there’s no database. Other times it says something else and the message goes before I can read it.

I work for a radio network that relies on our satellite system for our content delivery. With this program I can determine site lines for new installations, and see potential blockages from trees and other vegetation. I can even take a snapshot of the image to show the tree company to make sure they properly trim the trees.

I'm running an older iPhone 3GS that doesn't have a gyro in it, so my elevation is a bit jittery. That is the only reason I gave it only 4 stars. It may very well be a 5 star app on a newer phone!

I read a number of reviews about SatFinderProSatelliteFinder that concerned me before I bought it. The problem I read about was one of "too many satellites shown." And, indeed, this was my initial experience. Then looking at the screen shots and playing with SatFinderProSatelliteFinder , I found that not only could I create a group of satellites (mark as favorites) and see them highlighted in AR. I also found, using the four small "badges" located in the upper right of each satellite's list entry, that I could seek the location of a single selected satellite of interest in AR as well. The four buttons are: Mark as Favorite, 2D Finder, Calculator & 3D Finder respectively.

A tutorial would be great, a "help" mode which allowed the user to tap around on the UI and get information about what it does would be lovely...

It is possible to do these key tasks using SatFinderProSatelliteFinder . It doesn't have a mode for Dish Network, DirecTV or any other specific platform. But, using Favorites you can select the satellites you are interested in seeing and then work with those rather than the exhaustive set of satellites.

Hope this helps someone save a few or more minutes of their time to focus on other things!

I have direct tv on a rv trailer, I use this
App. As a general guidance to find the satellite. SatFinderProSatelliteFinder. Is very helpful in that aspect, then I use a signal tuner, to fine tune the satellite. Thanks for SatFinderProSatelliteFinder . Guys.

This is okay for a companion app. Wouldn't want to use it by itself until you are very familiar with using it.

This application is very useful but has some short comings. I suggest that you add a search option allowing finding a specific television station in the various satellites.

Very useful when selecting a location for placement of my portable satellite dish while on trips in my RV.

The database is comprehensive and the augmented reality works perfectly on my iPhone 4

Works great! I’ve been using it for several months. To get a general location when setting up my RV, too me, can’t be beat!
