iPoe Vol. 1 - Edgar Allan Poe Reviews

I really enjoyed the music and illustrations for these classic Poe tales. One feature that would be nice is the ability to lower the volume of the music which was blaring much louder than the sound effects. I was about to give a 5-star review, then a pop-up asked me for a review with only two options, OK and OK. I have to subtract a star for that unfortunately.

Makes Gothic tales come alive. So far I’ve been pretty enthralled by Lovecraft and Poe. I’ve been one to have been entertained by the many ways to experience the depths of Cthulhu (games, graphic comics, Tarot, Necronomicon) and I remember I was drawn to Poe growing up with a comic format.

I look forward to Sleepy Hollow. I’ve always loved that tale. Tim Burton has always had a special place in my heart for divining deliciously dark sequences. And the Sleepy Hollow Disney Tale is worth waiting thru the Wind in the Willows Mr Toads (not so) Exciting Ride to see one of the scariest Disney animated episodes ever made. Love the transition from happy go lucky Icabod Crane singing and dancing to the scary ride home thru the woods of Sleepy Hollow. And the singing/narration of Bing Crosby are so rich.

These books are entertaining and well done, but unfortunately I have to give them a low rating due to the apps suspicious behavior. I have purchased all of the iclassics and found that they all immediately default to the 'on' position in cellular data and immediately use nearly a megabyte of data. Why a book would need to use any data at all is curious and that they use that much data is both odd and suspicious. I wrote to the company at the email posted on their website but received no response. I cannot recommend purchasing these books unless they stop this practice of sending whatever data they're gathering and using customers cellular data without permission.

I'm not one for reviews, but I've loved every single app these guys and gals have put out...I was truly disconcerted after recent updates that all the content in each collection was locked...BUT! A single email to support got me back where I wanted to be, completely immersed in these incredible tales. Fastest and greatest app support I've seen yet... thank you!!

I’ve known iPoeVol1 for a few years. Came back to it recently for a new course but couldn’t access previously purchased material. I contacted the developer which was immediately available with support to unlock and provide access once again. Plus extra material for teachers! Thanks!

This must b an iOS14 issue. Upd8 please! I just got this a couple days ago & LOVE it (Poe is a favorite) but no matter how many times I swipe the page won’t turn sometimes! I have 2 close iPoeVol1 & go back 2 it the nxt day. Please fix!! I’ve just started it & WOULD b further along if THE PAGE WOULD ACTUALLY TURN when I swipe.

Rewriting my old review. The team at iclassics is working to fix the issue with iOS 13. Still some work to be down, but so glad they’re bringing back these great apps! Thank you 😊

Don’t want to give a bad review since I love all the apps, but the apps no longer seem to work on the new iOS. Please help!

A couple months ago I had noticed my Poe volumes were no longer available which sucked as I paid for those. I am still hoping that Forgotten Colours gets updated... i loved all the iclassics and the Carmensia books.

I had some glitches early on where it worked fine, then stopped, but after updates, working well again. I use this to help my children engage in these works from an amazing writer..

Great app, well illustrated, but currently crashing mid-Annabelle Lee, never to return. App must be deleted and reinstalled to recover, but crashes again in the same spot. Reported to developers but no response. Please fix it!

This morning I got the Lovecraft and Sleepy Hollow after all is almost Halloween right?
What I can say? iPoeVol1 is so well done and is so fun is mix o comic book and pop-up for older kids.
And this one I spot a Easter egg in the mask of the red death I just love it!

I’ve read Poe for years and have had the same copies of his complete works. When I saw these classics I had to see what they did. The short comics are an awesome idea and a great way to cap the suspenses in each story. Love it

iPoeVol1 is really well-done, I really enjoy all of the hidden “Easter Egg” type of pop up features..
This is a very entertaining presentation of Poe’s works, which are well worth celebrating

Great app! Had problems with iPoeVol1 after the update, but then got some help from support & everything was returned back to normal. If you love a good read with great illustrations, this is where it you start.

The very first thing to pop up when I open iPoeVol1 is a request for a review with the options of “OK” or “OK”. How the heck can I give iPoeVol1 a good review when it instantly removes me from iPoeVol1 and sends me to the review page before I’ve ever use the freaking app. Super annoyed!

The Volume 1 app is working and I finally got to experience Poe’s amazing stories in a fantastic new way! Can’t wait for the updates for the other volumes!!!

The best! Just the absolute best! I’ve been reading forever on paper and on devices, and this has made it so fun. Don’t think about it, try it. It’s worth the money.

iPoeVol1 has amazing poems and short stories but if you get scared easily you may not want iPoeVol1. The stories and poems are dark and Erie, and sometimes the images may be a bit gory.

I have just 2 things to say, one, always keep them updated with the IOS software! I have lost many great app, because the developer(s) never kept their apps/books updated to the latest iOS software, so they stopped opening because they needed updating! And i Hate that so much!

And two, make lots more (iClassics) books, in app form, need more!

Don’t buy these. I bought several of the stories for my son a few years ago. We went to read them and the apps will not restore. You put in the apple password it asks for and then it says “are you sure you have anything to restore?” I’m so disappointed as now we can’t read them at all. Total app failure.

I am a long-time Poe fan and iPoeVol1 is a fun way to rediscover his works. It brings the words to life and makes each story and poem feel fresh. Artwork is cool and expressive; it captures the essence of the story.
