BEWARE iPhone 14 users

This card game has been my go to game for years. I upgraded to an iPhone 14 Pro almost a year ago and there wasn’t any change in the game for the first 5 months or so so. Then one day I began playing and realized I had to pick to the right side of the card I wanted to move for (if I picked the center of the card it had no effect). I reported this to the developer and received an automated reply about how much they appreciated the feedback but nothing ever became of it. I continued to play the game as it was, less than ideal but playable. Then a few weeks ago it changed again, only this time I had to pick a card in the column to the right of the card I wanted to move (the pick point was a full column off!) which made it impossible to to play. Again I reported this to the developer and received the same automatic response. I deleted FreeCellSolitaire and reinstalled but had the same results. Since I have received no encouraging feed back from the developer I have given up on ever playing my favorite game and permanently deleted it.

About to delete this even though it’s the best freecell app

Gosh I loved FreeCellSolitaire. Freecell game play is honestly the best of every one I’ve ever tried. Love the daily games, smoothness of animation, myriad options…. the list goes on. So why only 2 stars? Well, in the last month or so, ads have gone from lovely quiet little banners on the bottom to these giant annoying pop ups that cover the game play. You end up inadvertently clicking on things you would never click on because they pop up while you’re trying to touch a card to move it. I tracked it today and 12 out of 13 ads in a row popped up to cover game play while I was playing. Since they cycle through at about 3 seconds per ad, you can imagine how little I was actually able to play the game. It has gotten so frustrating, I am giving it one more week to see if they fix it, and then I’m deleting it & going with literally any other freecell app. Super disappointed.

Addictive!

UPDATE. Since 2 upgrades ago, FreeCellSolitaire crashes at least once a day, in mid-play. It’s frustrating, really messes with strategic thinking, and at times has so ticked me off that I simply quit playing. Please fix this!! This was once my go-to, quick work break for organizing my thoughts and settling my mind. Not anymore...

I'm still fairly new at this, can't seem to think far enough ahead to feel competent at High level, but it doesn't matter. Medium is challenging enough for me right now. I love this game, and I like how quickly I can open a game, start playing and be done. I'm a little embarrassed by the places that quickness allows me to play... Great game!
Update: a year later I am still playing this game multiple times a day and am never bored! With all the updates and improvements since my first review it's gotten easier to compete against myself and my strategies are varied now. Still love this game over all others in my collection.

app crashes... and the ads, omg the ads!!

For the past month or so, FreeCellSolitaire crashes on me at least once per day. It doesn’t lose game progress, so, whatever, I just restart it.

The two stars (or the reason this doesn’t get 5 stars)... is because of the ads. Again, this is new behavior over the past month or two, but it’s making the game unplayable. Sometimes video ads pop up in the middle of a game (so far, twice in the last few minutes), sometimes, there’s audio from nowhere... and then sometimes, I cannot close the end of game ads. Anyway, I get it... ads are a necessary evil, but the way they are implemented makes it nearly impossible to play. Pretty sure this is why FreeCellSolitaire crashes too.

Too bad because this is a fun game.

Used To Be Five Stars…

But this once-excellent game app has been ruined by the most incredibly intrusive and obnoxious advertising I have ever been subjected to. The game is very well designed with great features that make the game fun to play. But now nearly every game ends with full-screen ads, most of which have some kind of extremely annoying feature. These ads have bright garish colors and gross illustrations that are sometimes animated. Some erupt unexpectedly with loud music. Others can’t be shut down until the seller’s pitch and/or the music has run for its allotted time. Some run until you manage to figure out where the tiny button to close the screen has been hidden. I just can’t emphasize enough how unusually obnoxious, troublesome, and just plain annoying these ads are. Some of the ads are not like this, but the majority are harassing in nature and just plain sad to behold. I would happily pay for FreeCellSolitaire if it would relieve me of these awful ads.

Long time player disgruntled

The games by this company are great, or were, until recently. I like that I could still see the time while I played. Lately the time disappears after the first few plays. Even with wi-fi turned off I’ve started getting ads for their other games that pop up every time I hit new or replay. The ads are for games I already have installed. Usually for the Free Cell game. They even pop up while I’m playing Free Cell. It’s annoying to the point I’m about to uninstall all three of the games I have by this company if they don’t reset their programming back to how it was before their last update.

Freecell

Great game. Play it all the time. Lately, though, it seems that you can't make it through a game, certainly not go from one game to the next, without having to pause to close some stupid, pop-up ad. I realize the game is free, and the ads are what allows it to be offered for free, but they become so overbearing and intrusive that you just want to close out of the game and stay out! Update: I don't care much for the new "Master" category, I am sticking with the "Expert", where I am at 8,500 and counting without a miss. Realize that is probably pale by comparison with the streaks of other Freecell fans, but I haven't been at it that long. Best time (on "Expert") is 0:59, best score so far 154,000. Working on beating both.

Nice relaxing game

I love not being under a time constraint and can come back later to finish. I like being able to find all of one type of card. The only addition I would like to see is being able to select the game by number so a friend and I can both play the *same* card layouts. Other versions have this and that can be fun when you want to add a little competition but not "play friends online" or if you ask them to play the same game to see if it is hard for them also. Not being able to select the game number is the only reason I don't give this 5 stars.

Review Update

I had meant to rate FreeCellSolitaire as a 5 star, never got around to it. Then the other day, an update came out or something and ads started appearing right in the middle of game play. Immediately came to review and left 2 stars. Then came back and gave 3 stars, because all the other freecell games out there are way worse. And then Fingerarts removed the ad, so here are their much deserved 5 stars. (Keep things the way they are ad wise!) The ads are way less intrusive than other games, and I actually view them because I appreciate the manner in which they’re shown (less than others- and you can close out of them immediately). As far as the actual game, they seem to be fixing the bugs (minor issues). But also, mess with your settings. A bug might just be on how your settings are adjusted. Overall, it’s my favorite game to play while killing time, and FreeCellSolitaire delivers a far more superior game than anybody else out there- by far!

Keep challenging myself

This is one of those games keeps your mind challenged occupy your time in Doctor office sometimes a mindless task when I just need to think on something else I really enjoy this game IIf you want a game to play alone enjoy this one!! Well ya lookin like I’m going to delete FreeCellSolitaire it is interfering in the middle of a game with the ads that have started popping up in the middle of a game. It has Not had the problem but just started today. Not tolerating it will choose same game different app !!!!!!

Great game

My only beef is the points are given only for speed....some of the hard puzzles are very difficult, and take Considerable time. How anyone can get some of those really high scores is beyond me. I've won 10,000 consecutive hard games. Think how much time I've wasted😄😁😂

This game could really be improved..it could be played with friends, if a game could be chosen by game number, allowing two or more to compete. Also statistics could be accumulated showing average times, high and low, etc. Speed is hardly the only criterion

Very Enjoyable Game

I've enjoyed this game for several years as I have several other of the Finger Arts games. It's been great for when I need to relax for a few minutes. It has four levels of difficulty which makes it tailorable to the level of effort or time that I want to spend on it. I especially like that the game does not automatically take a card off the board which makes it easier to strategize moves without having to bring cards back into play. I recommend this game for all ages.

Redo feature is best

I've played free cell for 40+ years but if I deal a game with real cards and lose I cannot, of course, deal the cards the exact way ever again. Since every game is winnable, if I lost in the past I always just had to wonder what I should have done differently. FreeCellSolitaire makes free cell perfect! If you lose FreeCellSolitaire lets you try again. From the start, or just use the undo button to go back a couple of plays. Great game, great app. It is smooth, works perfectly, and doesn't have coins or prizes or cartoon animals floating all over the screen. It is a fun but quietly serious way to play a simple, challenging, satisfying game. Over and over and over!

White screen, anyone?

Update: I’m sorry about your troubles, Chili 57. I figured out that my vpn was to blame also (never a problem in the past and i use US servers). So if i want to play for now, i have to turn it off. Just received a timely and very nice response from app support. Back to five stars.

I normally would give FreeCellSolitaire 5 stars, have enjoyed it the most of any solitaire app by far. I recently started getting white screen as soon as I open FreeCellSolitaire (no other app having this problem; deleted/reinstalled and hard reboot, no difference). I have a request for help from the developer, will update when/if resolved. 🤞

Free cell by finger arts app review

FreeCellSolitaire performs as advertised. The optional features are easy to manage. The one suggestion I offer would be to move the "undo" and "tap for hint"buttons away from The pop-up selection area of the screen. 33% of my screen touches on the "undo" and the "tab for hint" buttons result in my accidentally hitting the pop up area of the screen, thereby immediately interrupting the game. Very frustrating and very annoying.

The auto redirect screens caused by the pop-ups do not close automatically. I have run down my battery more than once because I did not close the pop up screens/web pages.

The April '17 update automatically defaults to the "current week" win/abandon score. I prefer the "today". It's a mild trouble to constantly have to select "today" to see my current score. Other than that a good app as pop-up apps go

Free art Free Cell. Review

This game is utterly addictive! The sound effects are the best - the applause and cheers make you feel like a happy little kid that is just getting the joy of receiving praise and learning how to applaud. I completely don't get the point system rules but never knew they existed. So at the end of the game all I care to see is the time it took, the best time and maybe the number of moves.
As to the April 2017 update, I agree with Jimd that the undo and tap for hint buttons should be moved because I too often tap them accidentally and get annoyed when my game gets interrupted. Again, I haven't bothered with any of the new features since I am perfectly content with the old - except for the above-mentioned problem.

Ad that sound like a fire alarm

Love the game and have played the daily challenge almost daily for a couple of years.
Recently one of the lower banner ads makes an alarming beeping sound (even though my game settings have the sound off). It sounds like a fire alarm. I do a hard close of FreeCellSolitaire at that point.
Although maybe it’s a good reminder for me to stop playing games and be a responsible adult, I don’t think closing FreeCellSolitaire is your goal. Please see if there is a way to turn off sounds on ads if the game sounds are off, or just end the contract with this advertiser. I don’t even know what it is because I turn it off in a panic so quickly every time. I think it’s saying my device needs critical updates.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME

I play many other solitaire games but this one is the very best for many reasons. I want to be challenged - which different levels of difficulty do nicely, but do NOT want to be so frustrated that playing is no longer fun - at which point and rather than get ulcers - that game ends up getting deleted. Plan to keep playing this one for years. It's always fun and so addictive that I try not to miss a day of getting the highest daily scores possible. Never any pressure. Can put on hold if necessary and finish later. Also neat to be able to go back during the month and redo any day for a higher score if desired. Using the relaxed mode is a great feature that keeps the game moving more smoothly but doesn't lessen the challenge. Thank you so much for providing such an awesome free game.

Ads

Okay love game and background options and all that.... it’s the Ads!!!! Even when the volume and all sounds are turned off the audio plays amazingly loud.... oh... and even once I’ve sat through he ad long enough to close.... the audio starts to play in the middle of my hand.... I don’t like it!!!! It Always happens at the most in opportune times almost like it knows it’s about to throw me under a passing bus.... I understand the purpose of the ads however if there is any way to sync the audio of those ads with the game and phone features or instead of muting maybe have the option to unmute if interested instead it would save my sanity and potentially the life of my phone since it’s getting very close to being thrown against the wall. Help save a life and think of the safety of my phone.... its
life is in your hands!!!! Thank you!!!

FreeCell Home Screen Issue

Well I guess this last update has not fixed the issue of the game automatically shutting down and going back to the home screen. Mine just did it again. I wrote a review with this very same issue back in early June. FreeCellSolitaire was fine then they added ads and now it’s all screwed up. Whomever fixed what wasn’t wrong, go back in and fix it again, maybe this time you will get it right, but I’m not holding my breathe.
