The Week Has Followed all Other Media Off s Cliff

The Week used to be a fantastic publication. It was actually well balanced. Ever since a certain election in 2016 though, the Week began a steep nose dive where they followed other news outlets on a hard bank to the left. Now it is literally just another talking head for the all woke, no joke media. Obviously, they are going to remind people of other publications since it is literally a synopsis of other publications. However, leftist sources are now quoted seemingly four times for every one moderate or conservative publication. Sadly, I just said goodbye to my subscription after twelve mostly good years as a reader (well probably only eight of those years were good). Maybe if they ever grow a pair and stop throwing up their hands to the woke digital lynch mob I will consider resubscribing. Unfortunately, the more likely outcome is that I will be called a bigot because I don’t want to read their propaganda anymore. Either way, I’m not subscribing to crap that claims to be balanced and instead rams a partisan line down my throat.

Excellent Evolution of a Great Magazine

Really enjoyed the background and description of the birth of each issue in the “20 Years of History and the Evolution of the Week.” Gives an appreciation for all that goes into the informative content of this publication. Cheers to all the writers and those very talented Cover artists. I look forward to finding all the nuances in each cover. It was good to hear about the people behind this great magazine that we look forward to reading every week. Keep up the good work!

The Week is the greatest! Service not as much.

I've been reading The Week in both print and digital form for years. I enjoy the mix of news and other features. When it first went to digital, it was a bit buggy and it would occasionally shut down and need a reboot. For a long time now, however, using an iPad, when opening TheWeekMagazineUS to read the daily update, the current day isn’t available. You need to either shut down and reboot the device, or delete and reinstall TheWeekMagazineUS (which deletes your customer info). This happens at least two or more times a week. It is completely unacceptable. It happens to no other app I’ve ever used.
Yes, the magazine is one of the best for fairly balanced news reporting, but it needs to work all the time to be truly great.

Spotty at best

I subscribe to both the print and digital The Week, and depend on the latter because (a) I live in a remote area and my print copy doesn’t arrive til Monday many weeks, and (b) I am out of town or country about three months out of the year. The old app had its problems, but this one is fraught with mishaps. It won’t recognize my subscription. Or it won’t download. Or the covers download and nothing else. It won’t hold my sign-in info. The photos won’t open. The text size keeps reverting. It used to be I could email Customer Service and they would respond quickly with a fix. Now, that doesn’t even happen. Email I sent them a week ago has never been answered. I love The Week but if TheWeekMagazineUS does not improve, it will be the reason I cancel.

Best magazine ever!

This is the only news magazine, or magazine of any kind, I make the time to read from cover to cover. It’s interesting to read what columnists over the world are writing about. I especially like the mostly non-partisan slant The Week attempts, even though our president probably considers it Fake News as well. I can’t imagine not being a subscriber and I try to gift the free subscription to a different person every year - they all love reading it! Great job!

The Week is great! The app is less so…

This is not a critique on the magazine at all. I love the magazine and was thrilled when I saw there was a mobile option. The problem, however, is that app is not the most user friendly. TheWeekMagazineUS is really glitchy and crashes often. TheWeekMagazineUS also doesn’t refresh by itself, so you have to constantly quit out of TheWeekMagazineUS to get new daily articles. Finally, there are just a few other small glitches, like being unable to scroll sometimes, that get me a tad frustrated. I’d suggest investing a little bit into some UX/UI.

Love The Week, but disappointed

I look forward every week to the arrival of The Week. I find articles informative, interesting and concise. I have subscribed for many years. I am really disappointed in how very very expensive a subscription has become. My husband and I use to gift subscriptions to family and friends, but WAY out price range now. Having second thoughts about our yearly subscription too

An Excellent Magazine!

In my hands, or online, The Week Magazine gives a great look at both sides of major issues. Information from around the world provides a rare insight to what people from other countries see and feel about major topics that we all need to deal with. There’s also always some good laughs in special sections. For sure, one of my most favorite magazines, and websites, on the market!

The Week

Really enjoy being able to get the latest issue no matter where I am. I like the print version too but TheWeekMagazineUS really helps in many ways when I don't want to carry the extra weight. I really like the broad spectrum international focus. It is like the biological abstracts I use that allows a brief update and the info I need to go into detail on a topic if I would like too.

By

recent survey

You recently sent a reader survey that appeared to be steering me to supporting a subscription fee increase and other changes. Three comments:
1. Please just ask directly if a fee increase is ok with me or not.
2. If you’re going to upgrade the content and charge more, then tell me the changes you’re considering and allow me to say whether they have extra value or not.
3. The survey was too long and it crashed near the end. I’m not sure whether you received my response or not?

A satisfying voice

We have subscribed to The Week since, I believe, shortly after it began publication. It seems to present both sides of the story, with articles and opinions sharing our admittedly leftist views and also those from the other side. It probably is a magazine more attuned to us liberals, but consider it a counterbalance to the Fox Newsers, who probably don’t read much anyway.

By

To the point

I don’t have time to read long articles, even though they are likely well written. The Week does the heavy lifting and distills the salient points from several and opposing perspectives. We live in an ambiguous world. The Week doesn’t change that, but helps to fill in some missing pieces.

App glitches every several months and it’s so frustrating

On the one hand I thoroughly enjoy Reading the Week, and the improved App is pretty good and easy to use. ON THE OTHER HAND, despite having an ongoing paid one full subscription for years, every several months I can’t access my issues and it asks me to subscribe or pay. I AM subscribed and therefore don’t have to pay, so let me download my issues. It must be an upgrade glitch but it happens far too often.

By

Editors edit thyself

I also read Time magazine each week. The stories are too long and are politically one-sided. I became so disenchanted that I cancelled my subscription, but they still send the the electronic edition each week (probably to satisfy their advertisers.)
I like The Week for its conciseness and presenting all sides of an issue.

By

Digital

I always enjoyed The Week but read the digital issues since I travel alot. Suddenly, I could no longer get the digital issues ....I tried to get help via customer support but there was no response.....so I let my subscription expire.

By

Everything in one magazine

I enjoy the tremendous variety of articles in each and every issue. With this amazing content THE WEEK is not a quick read but rather a compilation of news presented in a compelling and provocative way.

Can’t access current issue through app

The Week is great. What is the point of being a subscriber if I can’t view the current issue through TheWeekMagazineUS ? I’m signed into TheWeekMagazineUS with my subscriber number and cannot see content and they’re asking me to purchase or subscribe.

I’ve subscribed to The Week forever, probably 10 years. TheWeekMagazineUS has always dropped my account info and made me go through hoops to reconnect.

By

The app

Most times it’s difficult to get to the new magazine. Tap the account tap library pull the page and hope the wheel spins. This however can take several tries

I love the actual magazine, but not the digital one

I signed up for my favorite source of news. I thought I would be in heaven, but when I saw how there was no way to opt out from their security practices unless you live in California. I quickly cancelled my order. Listen up, they claim the right to sell all your information and they target ads at their discretion. Take it or leave it - I decided to leave it.

My must read weekly

I fastidiously read the daily The Week postings and relish the weekly The Week. The news is factual, with ample inclusion of diverse points of view. I find the opinions spot on, and the cartoons are a marvelous way to experience the cut-and-slash of cartoonists.

Cannot open any issues

Tried to download the latest issue. App is very slow and takes several seconds to load content to opening screen. Buttons for latest issue are just pulsing gray bars for several seconds and then disappear entirely. Nothing to click on to download/read issue. Cleared all background apps and rebooted iPad. No change. Deleted and reinstalled app. No change. Tried to open last week’s issue, which the library says is downloaded. Same problem — buttons to read the issue disappear. There is no way to open any issues. There is a brief pop up black bar at bottom of screen which says “ Unexpectedly Error: Pricing information not available.”

Great Mag | Crapp app

I have always enjoyed the week’s overview coverage of the big news along with its promotion of smaller stories I don’t necessarily find from other sources.

TheWeekMagazineUS, however, was never great, and now is barely functional. A few gripes that need to be addressed:
1. Do the basic stuff correctly - every week, there are three or four page turns that cause TheWeekMagazineUS to freeze. Current workaround is to view the stuck pages in pdf mode.
2. Once I open an issue, if I close TheWeekMagazineUS and come back later TheWeekMagazineUS return to that page. I don’t want to start at TheWeekMagazineUS home page if I’m in the middle of an issue.

Fair and Balanced

These days, when our national administration rounds any news it doesn’t like as a “fake, “ it is refreshing to see a magazine publish excerpts from news articles from across the country taking into account all viewpoints. I may not agree with the editorial content of the National Review or the Wall Street Journal, but it’s at least nice to know what they’re saying and why.

The Week is my irreplaceable “go to” source to catch up on the weekly news.

Problems with this update

I tried to download TheWeekMagazineUS and it won’t let me. Can’t understand how this magazine expects to survive with this horrible customer service. Thinking about not renewing when my subscription expires in December. I can still access the magazine through a browser, but I prefer TheWeekMagazineUS . Maybe The Week is on the ropes financially and cannot afford good app-developer help. I will likely not renew my subscription when it expires in a few months and see if the magazine is still around next year.

Older versions of the app were great

This version of TheWeekMagazineUS only lets me read last week’s The Week with my fully paid subscription. If I want to read the latest magazine I am continually prompted to purchase the issue or subscribe (which I’ve already done). Really annoying since I’ve been using my iPad to read the Week for years since initially subscribing. The latest version of TheWeekMagazineUS makes me think that I’m paying too much to read this compilation of the news.

By

The app just gets worse and worse

In it’s latest version one can’t even share a link to an article. I used to recommend The Week to all my friends but now I can’t even share examples of content they might like and decide to subscribe. The navigation at least has been improved from horrible to barely tolerable. I love the magazine, have subscribed for many years and up until about two years ago TheWeekMagazineUS was fine. Now I hate it more than any other app on my iPad.

Vastly improved since the switch to the ZINIO platform.

Works as smoothly and has essentially the same interface and features as the main ZINIO app, no more terrible bugs and questionable UI. Best of all, I can finally read issues in PDF, which is all I ever wanted!

The new “the week” app

I cannot find the word to describe how dissatisfied I am with the new app. Thank goodness I also receive a print addition. A call to customer support is answered by directing me to their digital provider who cannot provide a product that recognizes my logonid.
A one-star rating is too good, zero-star is appropriate.

An update, 11-Aug-2019: TheWeekMagazineUS works - sort of. It recognizes my url as a subscriber, but will not allow me to read an issue. My only option are buy an issue or buy a subscription. Please return to the old app that worked.

As of 1-Sept-2019 TheWeekMagazineUS does not allow me to read issues. same problems as 11-aug. A sad commentary that a good publication would hand off digital access to a very poor application provider.

My current rating is still zero-star!

Fair and balanced

Finally! A place where we can read about the whole story with a fair recap and quoted excerpts. It’s nice to get all the information so I can make up my own mind how I feel about the issue. Great read. Well organized. Concise and consolidated.

Great magazine, broken app

Have been a subscriber of The Week for several years. I absolutely love it, looking forward to each issue & read it cover to cover.

Navigation of the digital version has always been strangely non-intuitive & somewhat slow. Still, I enjoyed it in this form frequently - while traveling away from home, in transit, at Starbucks over coffee, etc.

But recently (a few months?), The Week digital app has been profoundly broken. I cannot download a single issue. Either via FiOS/Wifi or via Verizon, I can read one or two articles at most, sometimes none at all. I’ve given up trying altogether & now only read the paper copy.

Please, please, please fix the download/READ mechanism.

Thank you!

Love the magazine; hate the app

The Week is a fantastic magazine but TheWeekMagazineUS , which used to be reliable, has been ruined in the last two updates. Issues won’t download. I have no use for a digital magazine if I have to go to the paper copy in order to read it. I would love to give the magazine 5 stars but TheWeekMagazineUS is so difficult, I would give it no more than one star.

By

Sad

I have been a subscriber for over a decade and always enjoyed getting my weekly update in the mail. Currently deployed overseas and reliant on digital copy. Once again app/website refuses to allow me the option to download current issue. I can see the new edition’s cover on the landing page but not in my library options. Continual frustration has me, once again, trying to figure out why I stay in this relationship!

Getting the Week on time

We live in Hawaii and receive the print edition weeks after it is printed. The new and improved app lets me read it while it is still current. Thanks.

Great Publication, Great Support

I recently had an issue with the digital version of this outstanding magazine, and Zinnio contacted me with a solution. That, compiled with this magazine’s ability to show all sides of a news story makes it a solid 5 stars

Great magazine; not so great app.

I love this magazine, so I decided to get TheWeekMagazineUS while I’m outside the U.S.

I haven’t even been able to access any articles, because it appears you have to download each week’s entire issue before you can read anything. I don’t have a problem like this with any other news app. The others load lickety-split, but The Week takes hours. I’ve got data. I’ve got wifi.

What gives?
