Great App, tags on iPhone not so much.

Updating my review as I have the tags now. GolfPad works great on Apple Watch without using tags, but using their tags causes GolfPad to crash on the iPhone. It’s done this for months now. If you don’t want to use tags and an iPhone you’re ok.

GolfPad is easy on the iPhone and Apple Watch battery (read their FAQs), accurate, helpful on the course and simply works. I tried GolfPad alone and it worked well. Yardages were spot on and updated quickly. The setup for registering each club swing on the phone is well thought out. Since I have an Apple Watch, I tried their premium trial today. Watch app worked great (turned off watch’s heart monitor as it eats battery) and had 77% battery left after 18. The plays like distance takes into account elevation and weather, including wind, somehow and saved me on a par 4. We had some wind and GolfPad was telling to hit about two clubs less off the tee. I followed GolfPad ’s advice, normally would have hit a club less. If I had hit one club less I would have been in trouble. Later I logged into web site to see uploaded round. Love the stats and I think I will be purchasing their club tags soon just to make registering club swings a little more convenient to pinpoint club distances and tendencies. Prior to the trial I emailed a few questions to the company and received quick and helpful responses. Nothing but a great app with good support.

Issues, but best GPS for Battery Life

I like GolfPad a bunch. Been using it for a couple years. When able, a couple times a week. Compared to other golf gps apps I’ve tried, it is the easiest on my battery. I have used GolfPad for two straight rounds in one day and was even playing music on the same device simultaneously and still had plenty of battery life. As previous comment, I have had delays or glitches on it populating distances, sometimes having to go back and forth between screens for it to come up. But it is still reliable and worth using.

One recent complaint that I have which is really irritating and why I only give this 3 Stars, is due to the logging of scores for multiple players. Guess during one of the updates this changed. But now when inputting multiple players scores per hole it only saves the last persons score that you input. The work around is, you have input and save each individuals score, one at a time. I have to input my score on hole 1, save and then do the same for everyone else. And even then it still does not save scores properly. So lately I have had to get someone else to manually keep score on paper then go back and fill in the missing scores. So at this point it has not been very reliable. I didn’t even use it my last round due to this timely issue. Hope this gets fixed soon so I get back to using and referring GolfPad.

Very good app.

The support team is very responsive. GolfPad has had its growing pains but being in the software industry I understand. The link device for the iPhone still locks up when I try to turn it off but it’s easily reset. This is a good way to track your shots and distances. It gives you an accurate reading on how far you hit each of your clubs. I haven’t had any issues with the tags themselves as other people reported. I used to use golfshot GPS and with GolfPad I don’t have to remember to track each shot. I just click the club in the link device and it tracks the distance until I click my next club. The link device also lets you mark the flag position. The only thing I would like to see improved is the distance of my last putt. I usually make my first putt and when I miss it I go and mark the flag position and then click my putter to the link and mark my last putt location. This usually gives some bogus distance. For example I can click the hole position and in the same spot click my putter to the link and it tells me my last putt was something crazy like 8 yards. A minor inconvenience.

You can also play an entire round bd without using the phone By just clicking clubs on the link device. I haven’t tried to play entire round this way but I have played several holes and it does work well.

This works great

I find GolfPad after I had already been using the Arccos caddie system and I do prefer GolfPad. The arccos wouldn’t read all my chips or putts and, and sometimes would miss iron shots. Going back after the round and having to fix the mistakes and it remember what club I hit became annoying and defeated the entire reason I bought the arccos system. Although I do physically have to scan each club with GolfPad, at least I know it scanned and logged my shot with the audio and vibration confirmation. I don’t have to go back and fix anything with GolfPad. I have always played with my phone in my pocket because always used Golflogix app for distance and green slopes, no I use golf pad for distances and club tracking and I keep Golflogix running as well on my phone to read green slopes. Works great for me.

The price is right

I purchased a rangefinder and was not at all satisfied. I happened to be golfing recently and we were paired with a guy who showed me a rangefinder app on his phone.......and said it was FREE!!
When I got home I immediately downloaded Golf Pad. I tried using it the next time I played and was very satisfied. I had a few questions and Customer Support provided very timely answers. My questions were also answered very appropriately by Valentina so I didn’t have to ask them over and over.
GolfPad performs many many functions but, at this point, I only want to know how far I am from the green. GolfPad handles this preference admirably.
Needless to say......I quickly returned the other rangefinder and got my money back. Golf Pad is free and is much easier to operate. Well worth the 30 seconds to download!!

Overall I really like the app

I have been using GolfPad for several years now. First I just used free version to keep score and tell me distance to the hole. About a year ago I upgraded to be able to use all the functions and see my statistics. Recently I bought the tags to track my shot distances. There was one course we play frequently that was not available on GolfPad . Last night I decided to see what I had to do to get it added. Turns out it was really simple. They have a tool where you can map the course on google maps and submit it. Took maybe 15 minutes to do. When I got up today I had an email reply that the course was added. I opened GolfPad and there it was. I was very impressed with the quick turnaround.

Fantastic

I’ve searched for and tried out MANY different apps and this one is the best for the true golfer- most comprehensive, compatible with Apple Watch for tracking distances, positions, yardages, etc. tracks many stats. Awesome features of being able to sort all time by course/stat/date etc. Have a plethora of online helps, tutorials, articles for customer service.
Developers: Please keep supporting GolfPad and adding to it, we who use this love it and do so because it is better than any other golf tracking app out there - and believe me I’ve tried them all. Please add a trophy room or records section that keeps track of a bunch of different kind of personal records/streaks. THANK YOU for creating and maintaining the best golf app out there and I ask that you please continue to support it for years to come.

Love it

I’ve had GP for 2 years. I love the map function and also the interface with my phone and watch. Being able to see the fairway and obstruction distance has allowed me layup shot knowledge that has helped my scoring go down.
I had questions regarding functionality and customer service was on it and helped me within a reasonable time via email. They are very knowledgeable and good to work with.
IMO don’t waste your time with any other app. Go for this app first, you won’t be disappointed.
PS: learning the intricacies of GolfPad functions is not very difficult. Just take your time off the course to do it.

Only one complaint

I use GolfPad a ton. It’s the best App for the Apple Watch. It does take a few seconds to lock in distance and sometimes I have to check twice because it will change after I look at it the first time. Not a big deal. My only true complaint is that GolfPad isn’t set up to utilize the cell signal on the Series 3. One of the main reasons I got the Series 3 was because my Series 2 would disconnect from the phone if I walked to far from the phone and this is fairly common when I go to putt or if my partner takes the cart with my phone in it. So I have to keep my phone in my pocket. Three times now it has fallen out of my pocket while driving and I didn’t realize til I got to my next shot or hole. I would have to go back and search the fairway. GolfPad doesn’t connect to the cell on the Series 3 so it can still happen.

I LOVE my Golf Pad!!

This easy to use app helps me learn my numbers (how far I’m hitting the ball
(when I connect properly!) ) It also tells me the distance to the front, center and back of greens. I’m finding it to be quite accurate when I compare what distance GP indicates vs what my friend’s very pricey GPS shows..... it’s always within a couple of yards, and with my game that’s all I need. And the price is definitely great considering that it’s free. I’ve turned several of my friends onto this amazing golf app!! I also love the fact that I can switch over to the Map View to see how far it is over water, to waters edge or sand traps.
I really can’t say enough about how great this gadget is!!!

Awesome

I got the tags for some friends and myself. 1 game in, and I love it. Tons of stats to see where I’m doing well and failing. I am eager to see improvements as I focus in on the weaknesses. Fourth year playing and getting a swing developed that works, but needs consistency.
I did have to play with the brightness setting on iPhone, as the battery saver was too aggressive at times making it difficult to see the screen in sunlight.
Excited to get more rounds in for the data. I especially enjoyed screen shot of a birdie sent to friends that didn’t join us, and doing flyovers with friends the next day at work.

Awesome and a few changes

GolfPad is amazing for golf way better than Golf Logix. The two things they need to work on is track shot and have the fringe as an option and also when you edit the yardage on a certain tee it changes the yardage for all the tees.

By the way their customer service is the best ever. Cindy at golf pad is the lady to talk to. I was supposed to get the tags for my birthday and the tags were on back order so she sent a new box on overnight the day before my birthday and said I could keep the extra set free of charge. Amazing right!

Keep up the good work Golf Pad.

Pretty good, data could be used more effectively.

Excellent shot tracking in terms of exact ball positioning and relatively hassle free to track shots on mobile. Always finds the course I’m on with no problem and battery use is ok, drains me to about 40% after a full 18.

Once you’ve got a few games in you can see some interesting stats like your average distance for each club or the general direction of your shots but in very raw form.

The presentation of the data is a little too raw for me and it’s a lot like looking at a giant spread sheet of information without any analysis. As a data nerd, I can draw my own conclusions, but it would be nice to see some of this done for you, especially at the steep price of $20. Perhaps a simplified summary page like “in the past 5 games you have been using your 5 iron drastically more than any other club” or “you tend to over push or hook your shots when you use a 3 wood”

Finally, I think that GolfPad would be fantastic if i could see how my stats stack up generally against other app users. For example, how far on average do Golf Pad users drive? Whats their average hybrid distance?

Missing Health Data

I have been using app for a couple of years. One of the best I have found. Easy to use, has the needed distances and great Apple Watch app. The game statistics are extremely helpful. I also use with the golf tags, which are hit and miss quite honest, but do enjoy when they work.

My biggest complaint, and the reason for the 1 star deduction, is no integration with Apple Health. I track all my workouts and steps in Apple Health. It would be really nice to also include my golf rounds. I was able to do this in a competitors app and miss not having that in this app

Great app but

I love GolfPad on my iPhone 5 stars and was excited to use it with my iWatch but I only give 1 Star At first it was great although it did run the watch battery down quicker than normal. However since iOS 11 I can’t stop GolfPad from running on the watch. I remove it and it just pops right back on. I have had to remove GolfPad totally from my watch or it will frame my battery in half a day, My other problem with GolfPad on the iPhone is it doesn’t move to the next hole automatically. I would think would since it follows you on gps. I hope the developer fixes this.

Easy to use & responsive support

I started using GolfPad when I got my Apple Watch. Seamless integration between iPhone & Apple Watch. Very accurate on yardage. Amazing customer service. I played a course on Wednesday that had been reconfigured (holes were re-ordered to improve pace of play) & app was scrambled during the entire back 9. I sent an email to Golf Pad support after the round advising them of the problem. They updated course data within 6 hours and when I played the next day, all holes were available in GolfPad . Outstanding.

Great Golf App

GolfPad is so easy to use during your round. I don’t like messing with electronics while playing but found this to be so quick and simple that it’s not distracting to my game. The amount of data it provides is amazing. It’s so interesting that I usually spend an hour or more after I play just looking over my statistics for the current game and the averages for all games. The best aspect I like though is that it clearly shows what part of my game I need to work on. Challenges me to do better each time I play.

Doesn’t update quickly enough to be accurate

I paid for GolfPad and use my Apple Watch on the course. I’m very unhappy with the lack of distance updates. The phone will say one thing, the watch another and you don’t end up knowing which is correct, if either. It’s sometimes right but who knows when it is. Especially playing a new, unknown course. I probably will go back to my old Garmin. It’s much more accurate and doesn’t drain my phone battery.

Also, it doesn’t recognize if you start on hole 10. Sometimes if you put 10 in the phone it shows up differently on the watch. When you get to 1 for the back nine watch lists it as hole 19 or 21. Very confusing and disconcerting. What’s up with this? Sorry I bought GolfPad.

I love the Apple Watch shot tracking!

I have supremely enjoyed using Golf Pad, and even more so since upgrading to premium. Shot tracking with my Apple Watch works great, though I recommend watching a tutorial before using it because I didn’t find it intuitive at first (you track each shot BEFORE hitting it so that it records the location). The statistical analysis is next level, especially when using shot tracking. Golf pad premium has given me new insights into my game, and I will always use it from now on. I highly recommend.

Easy

I have only used it one round but this is really easy to use just tap the hole you’re starting on it gives accurate readings from tee to green then tap to enter score. Anxious to try it next week to see my cumulative scores.
After three weeks of use it is very easy to use and to see the history. I have noticed that it does eat the battery power fairly quickly. Start at 100% and at 50% after four hours. After seven weeks I find it easy to use, go from hole to hole, go back and edit, and close out and safe.

Watch change please

Pretty great app but I’d like improvements made for my Apple Watch. After my latest round I went back to see club stats and all the shots that I tracked from my watch didn’t have a club assigned. This is frustrating given that I am using GolfPad to learn/improve my game, and the watch to keep from handling my phone on every shot which slows down my pace of play. I also didn’t have a recommended club showing on my watch every time. I’m using an iPhone 7+ and series 3 GPS watch. All system updates are current. Allow club selection from the watch and I’ll add the fifth star.

Love it

Absolutely love GolfPad . Does a great job of yardage, aerial views and storing all your scores. It's my go to all the time, every time. Never play a round without it. The shot tracker works really well too. It just takes a lot of time and remembering to hit the button every shot. I don't usually do it when playing with friends in a cart. But when I'm walking by myself or with a buddy, and the pace is slower, it's not bad. I guess I could get those tabs they sell that go in your grips, but I usually don't have that hard of a time selecting my club to hit.

Two Thumbs Up

After trying about a dozen golf GPS apps ...none of which I was happy with...I finally discovered Golf Pad and my search was over. Although GolfPad has features and capabilities far beyond what I require, the two most important features I need are right on the money. First, I get accurate yardages. Standing next to my current partner who uses a $200 Bushnell rangefinder, yardages are identical. And second, GolfPad does not use a lot of battery life. And the developers give excellent tech-support. Love GolfPad!

It’s great.

I’ve given them all a try and subscribed to a few. There is a lot to love but the thing that keeps me is that I’ve found this app to be the quickest and most intuitive score entry out of the lot. I use Link also which is super sweet and makes things mega easy but when I play with some “old fashioned” buds, I can track all out scores with ease. Support is great as well. Sometimes support takes longer than I would hope but they are always friendly and eager to resolve the issue.

Great info

I’ve been using GolfPad for two years, still learning how to use it to better my game. But it’s very easy, gives ranges to center of the green, and allows me to better understand where I need to improve my game. It’s especially helpful during our annual golf trip when we play strange/new courses; ranges and course layout help tremendously in course management. The one BIG drawback is that your golfing buddies will continuously ask you for information on the course :)

Best Golf GPS and Scorecard App

I have been using GolfPad for a little over 6 years and I have enjoyed being able to track my history and growth in my golf career. I also love how it gives pretty accurate yardages and is now helping me drop from a 16 handicap to an 8 because I can see my areas of improvement and what I should be working on at the range. I HIGHLY recommend GolfPad for any golfer who wants a nice GPS app without the expense of a range finder that gives you so much more as wel.

Great app if i could use it. Once i click on the screen to show the hole it is all blacked out due to playing in the sun. It is just about ok in clody conditions. But not usable in bright or sunny weather, which renders it usless. I have adjusted everything on my phone with no way of adjusting the app. Please advise.

I have played 15 rounds and have Premium, but it is not tracking or calculating the handicap?
