Best Magazine Layout

Evo magazine format is laid out logically. Unlike other magazines, Evo thought about the reader experience. Very well executed. Significantly better than Car UK’s layout.
The articles are superbly written on par with Car UK.
As a bonus, You’ll be able to download any past Evo with an active sub.

Best Car Magazine

I bought every single issue of evo since 2001 and it is simply the best car magazine. It had it’s up & downs lately but seems to be getting it’s groove back

Ooops app won't let me download

While evo content is great, evoMagazine doesn't meet any usability standards. For example, to archive old issues you have to dig through various menus until you find the function. Worst of all evoMagazine is now preventing me from downloading new content and just keeps saying: "Ooops, something went wrong..." Despite me having a subscription via itunes for another 9 month. Go test the american Road & Track app. That is how 5-star is done.

Only PDFs last 2 issues, unreadable

Prior issues have all been optimized for iPad app, now the last 2 are downloaded as PDFs. What is going on? They’re unreadable as pdf, having to flip through 160 pages and zoom in to read articles?? Have been a subscriber on/off for 10+ years, evoMagazine had finally gotten solid in the last year or two. Please fix!!

Poor Performance

evoMagazine is flakey and will not download last two issues. No help despite repeated requests. Inexcusable given today’s technology.

Latest version is a huge step backwards.

Very disappointed in evoMagazine the last few months. Latest version crashes all the time, and is not optimized for mobile. They literally just scanned in a PDF of the magazine, and pass it off as a mobile version. Will not be renewing my subscription.

Great content

The best motoring journalism around. It was better in the old digital format, it’s a step backwards now that the online version is a scanned-in version of the magazine. Shame.

Staying connected

EVO on my I Pad!
Now that’s staying connected!!!!

Digital?

This used to be my favorite app and car magazine. I hope someday it will go back to a true digital format the way it once was instead of a scanned version of the print magazine. Very difficult to read and enjoy now.

Cannot Download any Magazines

This is a great magazine. I subscribed while living in London.

Was really happy to get evoMagazine and subscribe electronically when I moved to the USA. Unfortunately I have had endless issues trying to download magazines.

The earlier version of evoMagazine worked. This version has not allowed me to download anything since renewing my subscription.

Great content, poorly designed App.

The magazine itself is great but evoMagazine is simple frustrating to use. How hard is it to make a simple reading app.

Magazine App Crashes

Impossible to read magazine because it crashes so frequently

Evo

Simply the best reviews of any magazine

Quality has nosedived

That app experience is just phoned in scans instead of an immersive experience

App is broken

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the content from evo magazine. It is by far the best car magazine available. BUT... evoMagazine is broken. Since the last update it went from buggy and clunky to total junk. It no longer even launches successfully, just a title screen for several seconds before it gives up and kicks me back to the newsstand. And I pay for a subscription! Not for long I guess. I will look forward to a fix.

3.5 won't download any content

Update: 3 days after my review, both my iPhone and iPad started downloading articles again. My guess is there was a server issue rather than an app issue. App still freezes in landscape mode, but at least I can read my articles again. 2 stars.

I didn't think it was possible, but the new version is even worse than 3.4.5. I have deleted and reinstalled evoMagazine a dozen times. Once I was able to read the three most recent articles, but nothing else would download. Now, I can't get ANY content to download. I'm just staring at a gray background. Click the "help" button and evoMagazine crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME. I sent several detailed emails to the developer, but they can't resolve this. They should send me the print copy until my subscription runs out. I will not be renewing.

Don't buy

I love this magazine and I live in the US so when the first app came out I got it so I didn't have any real magazines cluttering up my house then when they changed to evoMagazine I lost that issue in the old app now I have two EVO icons one says EVO-deleted and one EVO ok great whatever downloaded new app and bought a few issues then some kind of bug they said if I tried to buy it again it would say you already have purchased these issues and i would just reinstall now I have none I want it to work so bad but I feel like I'm throwing away time and money dealing with this if I didn't look at the old issues I would have not noticed I have no idea what the hell is going on over there I'll stick to buying at the newsstand until the fix my problem

Old app was better

Evo is still without a doubt one of the best motoring magazines around. That said evoMagazine now constantly crashes. Please fix!
I also strongly believe the old magazine style app was one of the best in the industry, and gave you a real feel for reading a monthly cohesive magazine. Albeit one designed for the future with loads of interactive features. It was well designed, it worked, and it sparkled.
The current app is "blog" style. It doesn't have the cohesive magazine feel, it's much less interactive, and it's buggy. In short, while the articles are still good, evoMagazine has gone from being awesome and an industry leader to being meh, barely working, and frankly the paper magazine would be a better experience.

Don't bother

Initially purchased a subscription because it was 50% off US newsstand price; but my sub has subsequently disappeared like everyone else's. Great magazine, worst app ever. Support is non-existent. Even before the subscription fiasco, app constantly crashed when turning pages or flipping to different pictures.

Quite obvious that they did zero testing on the subscription model when they updated since it appears everyone has lost theirs. It's been over a week since they released the new broken version now, no support response, no refund offers; effectively they've stolen subscriber's money and don't appear to even realize there is a problem. Either that, or simply don't care.

Now to go find out how to dispute sub charge with Apple. Possibly that will move the developer to respond?

Another Subscription Lost

I hate that my first review of an app has to be a negative one- especially as it is for one of my favorite magazines of all time. The actual content of evoMagazine is great, but I am also experiencing the loss of all issues I purchased in the past, as well as my subscription being lost with the update to the newest version. I emailed the support site and was pleased to receive a response soon after, but I soon realizerd that it was just a canned response saying "delete evoMagazine and reload". All my following emails have received this same response. Until this is resolved, I would have to advise anyone considering evoMagazine to wait until this major bug is fixed.

Excellent content, terrible app

The content is excellent for car fans in any country. Sure, many of the cars reviewed aren't globally available, but the content is still well worth the subscription price.

evoMagazine is horrid. Half the time it doesn't pick up new content that you see notifications for. It crashes constantly trying to download. Landscape mode seems much worse than portrait for crashes and freezes.

Frankly, evoMagazine was better when it was a simple monthly download like Top Gear. At least you could read it. I'd much rather have monthly updates I can read than weekly updates I can't see because evoMagazine crashes all the time.
