Update: received a standard reply about ads revenue and upgrade etc.

My issue is not the ads. I can listen to an ad every 20 minutes. Why does DIFM cut off and stop the music forcing the user to go to the phone and physically hit the view and ad button? Just play the ad. This is really a problem when the phone is placed away from me while I am working overnight.

5 stars for the music. Love the vocal trance station. Listen all night while working but recently seems like there is an ad after every song. I use voice dictation and keep the phone in the corner of my office. But I can’t do it anymore. Getting up every few minutes to hit the view an ad button and get the music going. I don’t mind ads to support you guys but it is getting ridiculous. Are there more ads during the night?? Seems better during daytime.

Music is awesome, but it drops a ton, enough where I don't use it anymore while driving. It's not reception either as I often have 5 full bars and LTE when it drops.

Update: music dropping out gets worse and worse. Drops out with full WiFi signal. If I press pause then play it immediately plays again, until the next dropout. I’m sick of it dropping out in the middle of my exercise set. It also takes a very long time to load the first time, sometimes minutes, once again on a full WiFi or LTE connection.

Also lacking many features most other music services provide. Fast forward or rewind. Thumbs up/down. Saving music. Don’t tell me it’s because of price because this isn’t priced much differently than other services. No CarPlay support. No Apple Watch support. No windows app. Etc.

I paid the entire year-long premium and immediately had issues. Constantly sends me back to the free ad-based plan that plays advertisements in the middle of tracks. Even when it acknowledges I’m on “premium” half the time it buffers and no music plays. Customer support non-existent in three months of emails and contact I never got a single response. This is disrespectful to the industry and the artists and they’re taking $100 rip and then disappearing with your money. Really sad about this because I love the music. This is the worst streaming radio experience in 20 years.

It works. App has slowly made progress the last few years. Skipping music seems to have overcome the issue of poor music selection on some of the channels. Would be so nice if I stopped getting a pop up asking me to turn on notifications every time I have to restart DIFM . Temp phone storage is not the place to save that flag and you’re never gonna be allowed to send me push crap. Having been a long time listener it would also be nice to get to better access all the wonderful songs I’ve “liked” over the years.

Nothing compares when it comes to the level of electronic music options. You can get ultra specific and listen to your exact genre. I love it for that.
However, the audio quality isn’t as good as some other free apps, so not the best at a high volume at a party or in a car with an upgraded sound system. Also, having to unlock your phone after commercial breaks to let it know you are still listening by hitting play is a bit tedious.
I use DIFM almost every day… nothing compares… yet I find myself getting a bit frustrated many times I use it.

I have been a loyal customer for 10+ years, but I really wish there was an option to cache hours of music for offline listening when I am riding in the mountains or in an airplane.
For an example, look at Radio Paradise. They have an awesome platform and if you could accommodate something similar to what they have in terms of downloading 2 to 8 hours of music, that would be awesome! Even if it requires paying extra, I’d be willing to pay it!

Update: It seems to be working again. Not sure what changed? Anyways, back to using DIFM , hope the issue doesn’t return...

Used to love DIFM. Had the yearly subscription for it, everything. But the latest update ruins it - music stops after a few songs and it does not move on to the next song unless i swap to a different station then swap back, then I have the same issue after 15 minutes or so.

I can use playback URLs fine in the Sonos app and they don’t stop, leading me to believe DIFM itself is faulty.

The ads aren’t the problem. I get it, they help revenue for the company to pay for royalties, management, and overhead costs. I love the variety of stations, and how super-specific you can be with your genre choice.

The problem is, after certain advertisements, the music won’t resume; I have to unlock my phone and hit the ‘play’ button on DIFM . I use DIFM most when I’m driving and in order to get the music playing again, I have to look away from the road.

My question is why? Technical issue? A weird thing in DIFM coding? I see reviews from lots of users, to include one from THREE YEARS AGO, saying the same thing. How is this not resolved by now?

I’ve been listening since the early 2000s. Love DI. Back in the day it was just the website. DIFM has been around for a while now and has always worked well.

As a long time listener I owe it to DI to be a paying subscriber. Even without the paid subscription the quality of the stream is great—just have to listen to Progressive Insurance and Home Depot commercials, a lot. :) Small price to pay for a great service and app.

I am having to keep uninstalling DIFM and redownloading it quite often because the music keeps stopping after a few minutes and I have to keep hitting the play button., sometimes it works correctly and when it does it’s a great place to listen to some killer tunes. please fix! But I’m grateful to have a place to listen to mostly great music. And a good place to find new artists...Thanks guys!!!

This is the must-have app for electronic music fans on the go. It's an easy-to-use interface to all that awesome music streaming from their website. I'm a loyal and longtime fan and customer.

It’s been a bummer over the years that due to licensing and pricing that subscription costs have risen, and engagement with the content is reduced. This is more of a reflection of the industry I feel than it is on DI. That’s why I’m still a paying subscriber.

I was honestly on the verge of cancelling my premium sub of they didn't offer Carplay or Landscape mode... no joke.

Dont get me wrong.. the curation , live shows, and track selections are some of the best around, but with as much as I pay for premium, and I’ve been paying for years, esp with the increased price, I wanted a little more. Yes.. They do seem to be refreshing the library more frequently now, which is probably where some of that increased cost is going, but I know many have been asking for these simple things for a long time now.

The Carplay app is among the best I’ve seen, in form, usability, and robustness. I love the navigation, how I get track names for currently playing on all my faved stations, and the connectivity being so smooth. Super stoked they finally answered the customer demand and delivered something great! Thanks DI! I’ll be sticking around!

I rated DIFM 5 stars as it has always been great, however I am having an annoying issue that may be due to the fact I am on ios 17.2 beta 3. DIFM will not play in the background, it always stops playing when my phone locks. It will only continue to play if I disable auto-lock and force DIFM to stay on the screen, this drains the battery. None of my other music apps are behaving this way on the beta.

Hands down, without question of any kind, the absolute best service for provide your eardrums with the nutrition they need to satisfy your soul with high quality audio and diversity beyond my 34 years of DJing. Literally, no exaggeration, no joke…. Every third to fifth song I hear is either something I’ve never heard before or a new remix/dub of an old track I haven’t played in so long, I forgot it was even in my collection.

If you have an open mind to quality music and rhythmic style, this is the penthouse at the Waldorf Astoria and every member of the staff is outstandingly accommodating.

It went through a spell in spring 2018 for my brother and I where it was crashin a lot and we were both on different providers so I don't think that was a coincidence but lately it's been great and I'd say give it a chance and try to listen to all the stations cuz for a long time I only listened to a few of the stations and didn't give the others a chance and I realize now how much better it is like for example I never knew I would've liked the station "liquod drum n bass" as much as I do but it's what prompted me to write this review :P so enjoy

I’ve listened to DI for almost 20 years. I’ve been paying for the premium service for a few years now, and mostly use the mobile app. (Although the web streaming is good too). DIFM is really well designed, and the selection of electronic music genres is probably as good as it gets, and will ever get. So, I’m pretty loyal. I pay for the premium service for the other big 2 music services, but I can never get playlists as good as these here. I don’t leave many app reviews, but I felt that these guys deserve it!

I just was to preface this by saying that technology is a beautiful tool we have at our disposal and DIFM takes the cake for the greatest thing I have discovered in the past 5 years. It has drastically improved my quality as a music lover and audiophile. Music selection for each show is downright beautiful. From the sweeping tracks of trance to the heart racing liquid drum and bass, and stations like chill-out dreams that have brought me to tears. To the developer of DIFM I say thank you and will support you as a premium subscriber for as long as I can financially as I am a struggling college student.

I’ve been a raver since 1998 and appreciate everything about Electronic Dance Music. DI is simply the best, the undisputed champ when it comes to EDM streaming for there is no substitute🔥Took me years to discover it, but now I am totally hooked! Me being a DJ, I’m constantly hearing tracks/mixes I’ve never heard. Every single sub-genre is covered, both mainstream + underground. With a premium subscription for under $10/mth there is excellent sound quality and all channels are unlocked which put the total around 100! Great job and keep it running for years to come guys💯😎🎶

I like the simplicity of DIFM . The bare bones clean look it all it needs, and I like that. An update to some cleaner lines and ‘tiles’ for the channels might be cool but overall I like the simplicity of it and can navigate easily.
I previously left a review when I had issues on my Mac a couple months ago but it seems to be working better now. After I put my computer to sleep, I could not just start playing music again. I would have to close DIFM and open it back up, but that seems to have been resolved. Thank you.

DIFM Is like no other when it comes to electronic music, I’ve been on it for 7+ feels like maybe even more. I’ve discovered DJs that I love, and discovered genres I didn’t know I loved and grew so much in my musical taste. DIFM is probably the best app ever. Change my mind I don’t care. If you enjoy discovering music there’s no better way, and the music is always new and fresh!
