Was free for live track

Nice app. Easy to use. First use of MapMyTracks was back in 2012, Live Track was free back then. Made it nice for my wife to see when I was when riding my bike or running. Guess I didn’t notice the update for when they wanted money to use the Live Track. 👎🏻

Yellowstone Prep

Love the stats. Wish it was tied to Google maps or Google Earth, or had similar functions built in.

This app is worth every penny

Just finished my first run using this paid version of MapMyTracks . I've been using apps for several years and this is the first app I've been so excited about to write a review. If you are a runner and want to keep accurate stats and work to improve your results, don't think just buy it and download it. You will be hooked the first time you use it. I always look for specifics in these reviews when reading them but in writing about this one I'm not going to mention specifics. The reason why is that it way exceeded every expectation I had and I now know things about my run I had no idea about for the last 10 years I've been running. I must feel like Edison when the lightbulb finally went on.

Very complete exercise tracking app

I've only used MapMyTracks about 3 times but I was impressed enough after trying the free one (they only let you try it ONCE for free) that I bought it and it's been very stable with my iPhone 5. I like the features like the auto pausing and auto restart when you're exercising and you have a rest break. And that the tracking itself seems very accurate. Some things that I would like to see and the reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is that I'd like to see some way to adjust the accuracy, the sampling rate of the GPS. Just to conserve on the battery a little bit and I'd also like to have a way to share my exercise sessions from MapMyTracks instead of just from the web. If there is a way to do this I haven't found it yet.
Update: I have now been using MapMyTracks for about 2 1/2 weeks and can report that the auto-pause and auto- resume feature is inconsistent in functioning. For example today I walked downtown, had lunch, and then walked home. But MapMyTracks only recorded my walk up to downtown; the rest of my walk wasn't recorded.
For this and things I mentioned earlier I can only give MapMyTracks four out of five stars. Please fix this!

Runs in background & calculates calories and altitude changes

This has an easy interface, and is a great value for the price. I like the way it calculates your distance, ave speed, altitude changes and calories. It would be nice to know if it can operate on the phone gps even when outside at&t range, but probably not as you cannot archive google maps.

Update: MapMyTracks will keep tracking even when you do not have cell phone or internet. It just puts the data onto a map once you are back, so that is a plus. The current downside for me is that it will not interface with a bluetooth heart rate monitor (I have a nice wrist one by MioGo), it does not automatically link to My Fitness Pal or the iPhone 6 Health app, and somehow the phone and website lost my tracks for the last two years (I only have what was on my phone since June). Otherwise, it has the best interface of these types of apps.

The best!

Wow is all I can say, after trying a few other similar apps. MapMyTracks rocks! Reliable and accurate, the mapping options are awesome. I think it does not always resume well after a longer break, so you may as well not choose automatic resume until developers fix that. I have not tested online interaction yet, but I am pleased so far. Not sure why I need to look all of those workout maps from strangers, either. Developers: you should give us a choice of alert tones, a nice female voice declaring that tracking has paused might be fun for males, or vice versa for females. But, great work!

Could use improvement

Minimal controls available during the run. What controls are available are very small and hard to use while running. Very little information displayed during run. Some information is too small to read when running. No pace info avail during run. No audio updates.

If gps reporting accuracy is set to ten meters, the run will not be tracked unles the gps accuracy is ten meters or less.

I wanted the maximum update rate during the run so the track would be accurate. I ran 1.5 miles before I figured out that the program was not tracking the run. I'm guessing that was because gps reporting was set to ten meters bit accuracy was greater than 17 meters most of the time. I really don't know why the run was't tracked.

It worked well for a while...

I've used MapMyTracks for several months and I really liked it, but lately, I've had quite a few problems. One day it quit tracking me half way through my run, another it only mapped a portion of my run. In another instance, after I stopped it, synced it to the website, and posted it to Facebook, I went to look at that run the next day at work, and it was still tracking me, I had a 12 hr+ run, really? The last time I used it, I was running with a friend and somehow they ran 2.5 miles and I ran less than a mile, they had a different tracking app. Needless to say, I have been very frustrated with MapMyTracks over the last 2 weeks, I am ready to get rid of MapMyTracks for good.

The best app to track yourself and more...

I was looking for an app for my iPhone to track my driving and this one really hit it exactly on the nail.
Its a hobby of mine to track wherever I go and MapMyTracks makes it so easy. I just run MapMyTracks just before I start driving and that's it. I goal is to find out how many miles and where I will be in 2012 and MapMyTracks will help me out. It's a must for people like me who really enjoy finding out where they've been.

Works well

MapMyTracks work fairly well. All of the elements I'm looking for are all here. The execution however could use some tweaking. For example, when I leave my house for a ride, my start and finish is the same location. Yet, MapMyTracks may show a 150 foot elevation difference from starting destination to finish destination. Honestly tho', this might be more the iphones fault than MapMyTracks .

The time, distance and GPS plotting all seem to be spot on tho' and those are the most important to me.

A nice addition to the website would be nice if I could find rides that others around me have done as well.

Map tracks encourages healthy living

MapMyTracks is great. It takes care of many of the little things like auto pause when you stop walking or running to calculating speed, elevation, and more during/post work out.
Along with that it can buy doesn't have to share your activities allowing you the challenge of being compared to other users.

Map my tracks

Overall this is a very cool app. But it has some annoying problems. If your American and ate accustomed to miles instead of kilometers there is an issue. Even after properly choosing imperial units the speed and elevation graphs are still metric. After syncing the activity with the website the units ate still screwed up. The account does have preferences for what units like MapMyTracks . Still the units are wrong. Clearly MapMyTracks and website Are tailored to European users. If the programmers would fix these bugs MapMyTracks and website would get a high rating. But at this time I give it a rating of 3 out of 5

Very good, but don't call it "free"

This is a very good app, it gives you a lot of data on your activities and seems to be extremely accurate. I like the pause feature, you can check your distance in the middle of a run without recording stopped time. But next time be clear that MapMyTracks costs 99 cents up front!! I went to use it on my second run, and had to stand there on the track in the rain filling in my purchase and credit card info!! Don't call it free if it isn't! Mostly because of this, I am giving it fewer stars and I prefer mytracks for my old droid.

Great app

I have started to run every morning and MapMyTracks makes it easy to track your progress. I have been using it to walk at lunch as well, it has help me stay focused on the activity trying to beat my last weeks activities and things like this. I have logged over 20 miles with no issues, thank for a simple but complete app!
