Absolutely horrible changes

TV Show tracker was an excellent simple app — certainly the best of its kind — that combined accuracy with an easy-to-use interface. It provided a calendar-like listing of all TV shows, required minimal scrolling, and while images were part of the design, text was the primary mode of communication. Now it’s all giant tv show cover images, lots of scrolling, and very little information per screen. Add that to a new banner ad (even though I paid for an upgrade long ago), and this is a cheap-looking awful app that does nothing to distinguish itself from other similar apps. I will be moving on immediately. Sleazy dealing here revoking the paid upgrade too. Avoid TVClub.

Now I have to subscribe to sync to iCloud?!

How crazy is this?! I was perfectly fine using the old version of TVClub when the new release come out. Fine, I’ll get used to the upgrade. But I paid to remove ads and sync via iCloud since I have multiple devices. Now after a year I’m going to have to continuously pay? And I read the reason why. ‘It can’t be done’. Sounds like a bunch of baloney. 1Pass switched to a subscription model but set up a way that allowed those who had bought TVClub long ago to have the full premium experience at no additional cost. And obviously this dev figured out how to do that as well but instead of using it to keep all previous premium users premium permanently, he gave it to you for a year instead of a month. I will not be paying for this service, especially when someone literally compares charging to run a digital list of TVs to a coffee.

From useful to useless in one update.

I used to like TVClub and found it quite useful. Now, the interface is horrible, you can’t reorder the shows as you want to see them— it’s alphabetical by default and can’t be changed. The option to hide shows from the list is there, but it doesn’t work. I rarely leave reviews for anything, but this is a “what the hell!?” moment for me and it can’t be undone. The old interface was perfectly fine and logical. The developers were obviously bored and felt like destroying a good thing. I hate it when software developers change things just for the sake of pretending they’re doing something useful to retain their job. Whoever thought this update was a good idea should explore a different career. The star rating should allow for negative stars.

Needs a desperate update…

I use TVClub every day all day and would love to give it 5 stars - But I have a show that I watched last year, it's currently airing as I'm writing this but yet your app still says TBA for the second season, as I'm watching season 2 episode 3 so I can only give you 1 star. It is frustrating not having all the shows I watch to be on 1 app tracker, which if that could be fixed then this would be the BEST APP TRACKER EVER! I just wish you would update more than once a year and had an option for us to suggest new show(s) that we would like you to add to your app. I've got so many ideas to add like a genre search feature could be cool. But until you can keep up to date on current shows, things like the genre search option can wait.
If you fix these issues I will change my review to the 5 stars you deserve.

Here we go..

Super glad I updated so that now I can have an advertising banner or pay for premium. It’s well played of you to soften the blow by offering a year free though. No thanks, I would gladly go back to the old interface without subscriptions and banners. It worked just fine. I think you knew this or you would have mentioned it in the upgrade description. Any chance of Ameliorating this with the old version for this who were completely happy with how TVClub was? And so it goes. New implementations, mean more bugs to work out. Buggy posters for upcoming. Change it back or give us the option. This blows.

Offer a perpetual license to the folks you conveniently didn’t mention the change to be fore they updated. We would gladly do without the extra updates. Just want a basic no ad app.

Lost Data:(

I’ve had TVClub for literally years, and I’ve always been so happy with it (despite some discrepancies with non-American shows). However, in the past 1-2 years I’ve had this issue of where all of a sudden all the checkmarks from the shows I watch disappear (shows still present, just says I haven’t watched any episodes). I’ve tried reaching out for assistance, however I was never responded to. I would definitely give TVClub 5 stars if it wasn’t for the half a dozen instances where I lose my data. What’s the point of a TV show “tracker” if it will randomly make me lose track of my shows. If this bug were fixed, I’d highly recommend TVClub to any TV show fanatic.

Good app needs improvement in several areas

I have had TVClub since the earlier days when it was still free. While it’s a great app it does has its hiccups. Escapologist with cloud I pay for the subscription and there has been several occasions the cloud back up didn’t work as it was supposed to. Now with the iOS 16 update I’m experiencing glitches trying to add shows saying that tvmaze is down or my Wi-Fi isn’t working when this is untrue. This time also with my new phone iCloud don’t work so I am now starting from scratch with all my shows. But overall I find the shows to be pretty accurate on here and easily track able that’s why I keep using it.

New Version Still Great.

I know that many people aren’t very happy with the new version of TVClub for some reason. I think that it’s still great and doesn’t change TVClub too much because it’s still simple and very useful especially if you’re tracking many shows. The only thing that I can think of that was better in the older version was the fact that the episode names were shown on the schedule underneath the show. I noticed this version doesn’t have that but I wish it did. Maybe in a future update ? But overall thanks to the developer for continuing to improve TVClub and fix any bugs. Also, thanks for the great communication and for actually listening to peoples suggestions. I have been using TVClub for years now and honestly it’s the best one in TVClub Store. Hope it keeps getting better and better !!

Great tv show tracker

My favorite thing about TVClub is the overviews. Makes it much easier to figure out if I already saw an episode or not. Next favorite thing is when adding a series with many episodes I have already watched I can mark my current episode as watched and it will automatically ask “mark all previous episodes as watched?” This saves so much time than selecting them all one by one. I love how badge app icon updates without having to open app. Suggestion: add network to watch list please, have to open overview to see it. Not happy about no longer available for Apple Watch! Was great to mark off a show as watched from Apple Watch and syncs to phone. Please bring back to Apple Watch!!!

Time Zone Issur

I love TVClub and have been using it for years. but there’s only one problem that keeps you from giving it the fifth star.

It doesn’t seem to know what time zone I’m in. For example, shows that come on at 8 PM disappear from the “today“ list long before 8 PM. I haven’t actually taken the time to look close enough to see exactly when they disappear, but I’m guessing it’s probably three hours prior, and the thing probably thinks that I’m on the East Coast or something, but again, that’s a guess. I haven’t actually monitor that closely, probably because I was assuming an update would fix it at some point. Since that hasn’t happened, I hope they will cover than an update soon, now that I brought it up.

Strangely, though, I do seem to get the 15 minute notifications on time, so the issue does not even seem to be consistent.

A 5 stars app when this is resolved

Great app to track the shows, helps me a lot keeping track of them all.

There is one tiny bitsy issue on the Apple Watch that needs a fix and it will get the last star: while the list of scheduled shows displays properly, the Watch List remains empty at all time. The widget and in TVClub on the phone, it works great. I would love to be able to mark an episode as watched on the Watch directly.

(For those asking how to mark a series as watched faster, just mark as watched the last episode you have watched and TVClub will promp if you want all previous episodes to be marked as watched as well :))

Folders Breathes New Life Into App - But Still Very Buggy

The Folders update just installed and I started messing around with it. It is already a game changer. I did need to read in app prompt instructions to understand how they work, but it was simple after that. I was at first weary I couldn’t move the Folders to the top of my list of shows, but then I discovered the Folder Filter which makes it easy to view each filter. It would be nice if TVClub remembered the last view I had so at startup it can take me straight there at next launch. This cleans up so much clutter when you have so many shows added. Love this update.
Edit: Unfortunately the new Folders are still buggy. Sorting is a big issue and eventually messes up all your sorting. I started having shows leap out of folders. So I’m hoping the next update will patch this.

Still the best TV SHOW TRACKING app available!

I have been using this app for several years now and would be hard pressed to find anything better for keeping track of my all of my favorite shows. I like things simple, practical, efficient, logical and organized without a lot of unnecessary fanfare. TVClub has all that I desire and much more that I don’t even take advantage of, but that’s ok…And there is an informative widget for my homepage which is really neat as well.
It is really a great app and the developer is always an email away if I have a question or comment. With there being SO MUCH great TV out there to keep sorted, my brain would explode without TVClub.
If you subscribe you will not be disappointed.

Great app. Looking forward to new features.

I have used TVClub for years and am more than happy to switch to the new subscription model. It’s unfair to think that just because you paid 1 dollar to use it years ago that you are entitled to perpetual updates. I understand people were happy with TVClub the way it was and I was as well but as the developer stated, this release was just to have feature parity with the previous version and I’m sure that additional improvements and features are on their way. To be honest the previous version was feeling a bit dated anyways. Thank you to the developer for all their hard work. I love TVClub!

Great App with all the bells and whistles

I was shopping TVClub store for a kind of TV guide that would help me keep track of when my favorite tv shows were airing, or such an app because using reminders apps required me to know beforehand, but this one well exceeds my expectations. I love it. Especially the calendar feature that points me to the last episodes run, because I mostly watch "on demand" and with TVClub I can know right away what I've missed of a series when I have time to devote to TV viewing. And it tells me the date the next season of the series starts too! On this scale of one to 5, I give it a 6!

Great Show Tracking App

I have used TVClub for years to track all the shows I have seen and keep informed on what episodes and seasons are upcoming. The new upgrade looks awesome with the ability to show show posters instead of simply the show name. Definitely check it out by putting your phone into dark mode! Super slick. People complaining about tiny ad at the bottom are losers. You know how much time and energy goes into creating a mobile app? And a tiny ad on the very bottom of your screen on an app that’s free to use bothers you? Grow up. Keep up the great work y’all!

All around worse

I’ve been using TVClub for years and this update is not only clunckier but you lost shows on the way. I thought this might happen so I wrote down all my shows before updating and lo and behold, after the “upgrade” I’d lost 5% of the shows. I tried looking for them manually but they are gone from the database.

TLDR: you took a great app and turned it into an incomplete, banner riden, pay-to-premium, poor shadow of itself. Well done.

After this review I’m going to find another app that does the same.

I love this app

I'm a long time user, my guess is 8 or 9 years? I read a few reviews and just have to say, I'd hate to be a developer, or anybody else trying to please people in this world lol but seriously I have zero complaints.

My only wish, and it's a wish not a complaint, and definitely something I'd pay for but I don't know if it's even possible, would be to be able to track Canadian shows as they air in the US.

Thank you for years of happy tracking!

Best tv show app

I enjoy watching a lot of different shows and TVClub has been a life savior. Sometimes I forget I’m watching a show and TVClub sends reminders when a new episode is premiering. It’s simple and so easy to use. Some ideas that would be cool for a future update would be different sorting options. TVClub already has alphabetical and manual sorting which is great. But having other options like to sort by streaming service or other ways would be awesome.

Thanks for making such a great app!!

Disappointing update to a previously perfect app

I’m so disappointed with this update. This was one of my favorite apps for its simplicity and ease of use. The aesthetics were significantly better in the old version and it was easier to navigate. There is so much more scrolling and clicking involved now to get to where I want to go. Even the icon was better before! I know the old version isn’t coming back, but it would be so great if the new version’s schedule and watchlist could look a little more like the old with more information tastefully displayed on the screen instead of huge print and only one or two episodes displayed at a time. It was perfect before. I don’t even mind paying a subscription fee as long as the UI goes back closer to how it was before.
