New update makes downloading a pleasure

I have always been happy with this free app that (essentially) provides a free music service. I am also a donating supporter of the radio station, as everyone should be who downloads WFMURadio.

How nice that WFMURadio ’s periodic updates have always provided well needed improvements. I very much appreciated the addition of dark mode a while back, for example. This latest update allows me to download archived shows without forcing WFMURadio into the player mode (which required navigating back to the show archive page—a little tedious). This is a tremendous improvement, and I very much appreciate WFMU for continually updating WFMURadio .

Well developed app, even better radio

From an app perspective, which this is, it's been very well developed and extremely reliable and well laid-out. I've been using WFMURadio to stream this radio station consistently, for more than a few years. I can honestly say WFMURadio has crashed only maybe once or twice, and the stream never ever unexpectedly loses its stream for any reason, other than reception issues due to my location.

The ability to save shows for later listening is a great idea.

Support free form radio, keep these guys and gals on the air, and if you're feelin groovy check out the rock n soul ichiban stream!

Beware the “Friedman”

I’ve listened to this station since 1985. Some not all the djs are real p.o.s. With station manger Ken as the Head p.o.s. A harmless comment will get you banned for life! Across all chat boards. The chat boards I recommend you just stay off of because if you don’t have a degree in music or can’t vomit up countless useless music facts? Then you’ll be totally ignored by these “eliteists” P.o.s.
I am genuinely happy to be banned for life. Who wants to be ignored by these people. Music snobs. More like it. For not knowing what John Lennon meant by “Sweat Loretta Fart” they finally got rid of me for good. I’m going back to SOMA radio And StillStream.

Download it for loads of listening fun right now

WFMU is unique and superior to any other radio station, music service, or corporate entity you currently use. Empirically, in the truest sense.
This is people, mostly volunteers(young, old, and in between)who have been on the scene for a long time. They play music the they want to play, not something dictated by an algorithm or some other faceless unknown. They take no corporate money of any kind, instead relying solely on donations of listeners.
I learn about new bands and artists from these wonderful people. They are truly one of the real and genuine things left out there in the world of media.
Go ahead and listen. WFMURadio works perfectly, is designed as simple and easy to use, and you can listen to any past shows in the archives whenever you want. Support them and donate if you're able.

This station truly makes my life better.

Superlative

If WFMU were just the fantastic ‘legacy/terrestrial’ radio station it had been until approximately 20 years ago, it would easily merit five stars. But now we have a WFMU app with reliable streaming in addition to impressive archive and discussion functionality. There have been times when I have inveighed against some DJs ironic posturing, but it seems this is less prominent then it was in the past. Now it’s simple -listen to WFMU! Contribute!

Station - Amazing. App - Rough

Navigation is confusing - no way to read a playlist without playing the episode. Hard to tell what a show is all about. I would have each show with an intro icon you could scroll through, clickable genres too maybe so it’s easy to find all the shows that play punk? Each archived episode could have a simple page with a description and playlist listened and a play button, rather than having to start playing to read a playlist. Still enjoying!

Would be dead without WFMU

Been listening for over 20 years and have so much thank WFMU for, the best freeform and all around radio on the planet! Making mornings fun on my way to work, singing and laughing along in my car...parties of 1 & 20, dazzled and dancing in tha house to the mystical, magical ear worms I would never have known otherwise! Donate to their amazing institution so they can exist as long as you are alive to enjoy the sounds of wonder that omit from them!

Actually so great!

The radio station is great. Truly free form local radio. Have loved it for a decade. WFMURadio is wonderful, though! Much more than a simple stream! So many options! It's really quite feature packed. It could really be a general platform for Internet radio generally...it's just so good. Live show chat, archived shows, playlist, schedule, sharing, favoriting songs...it's really something else. Yet still simple and well designed!

A fine app for the best radio station on Earth

Little more needs saying, other than that the linked playlists for some shows, enabling immediate listening of specific songs from archived shows, is GREAT. One small suggestion: it would be v nice to have more expansive archives easily available through WFMURadio ! If you listen to WFMU, your life WILL be better! (Longggggggg time listener & unabashed fan here, Jersey Shore ex-pat)

Content deserves 10 stars

WFMU is the best radio station in the country. I have absolutely no complaints about the content. WFMURadio could use some work though. Crashes too often, and pausing is almost pointless because it rarely holds your place. BUT you can listen to the station both live and literally decades worth of archives, so a bit of inconvenience is forgiven.

Accessibility

WFMU is a leader in accessibility of their transmission. Living in WMFU (90.1) area, driving through 91.9 area and working in WFMU (91.1) area for my daily commute and work day, I’m never without a signal. When I travel out of the area I save shows and am able to listen wherever I go. Keep on keeping up to date and allowing the listeners to access their favorite new music. Thank you

Love Dis Station!!!!!!!

Every morning before school when I wake up I become a MINI GLISTENER. I love Wake ‘n’ Bake and Double Dip Recess. I hope this radio station continues for as long as eternity. I wish dat there were more games on the shows. I only hear games on Wake and bake and would like people to start getting into the spirit of games. Also on Wake ‘n’ Bake they should have questions that us kids would know. The only other thing I have to say is HAPPY NEW YEAR AND KEEP GLISTENING TO WFMU AND 91.1 FM!

A Sitar Walks Into a Bar

Welcome, come take your shoes off and sit on a multicolored satin rug. All the forgotten mysterious sounds you never knew you couldn’t live without are embedded here. Think of WFMURadio as the door you see after eating the mushroom with Alice. Open WFMURadio , and let the flowers bend their brass sunshine lips for you. There are animals here you have never seen, hexagon spots all that. It’s more than you could ask for believe me.

WFMU is a galactic treasure

WFMU has great djs who play great music. Off the wall, groovy, eclectic stuff. Listening to new music keeps you young, and WFMU supplies enough to turn us all back into children. I live in NJ so my strongest impression of WFMU is listening on the garden state parkway, and blasting the tunes as I cross the bridges into SI and Brooklyn. Good stuff. Listening live is fun, and WFMURadio makes it super easy to do. Plus you can easily dig into back episodes from your fav DJ. Long live WFMU!

New music everyday

I loooove WFMU sooooo much. It's pretty much all I listen to now. I use WFMURadio on my phone. There's a decade or more of archives of every dj. So if you find one you like... Wake with Clay Pigeon is a great way to start your day and there's literally hundreds of hours of new(new to me and actually new) music every week. You won't regret checking out WFMU no matter what kind of music you like.

Best App Ever?

WFMU is a great app for an amazing radio station.

First and foremost WFMURadio delivers WFMU to your eagerly awaiting ears - but it's not the only app that can do that. Your tunein radio can get you Fun 91. Only WFMU gets you all the archives, all the playlists, all the comments and the volume control you crave. That's right, you can adjust the volume from within the WFMU app. You can also pause and play.

Great stuff.

WFMU

Good for exposure to new music but sometimes unlistenable. I use it for my catch all continuing education on new music. Then i listen to “me” music again feeling like i at least tried new musical perspectives. The seemingly just noise stuff sometimes is refreshing since radio shouldn’t necessarily always have to be good.

WFMU app review

I’m happy to have an app to stream WFMU as it’s my favorite radio station. Only problems are it’s a bit glitchy even though I’ve downloaded the latest version. It seems to stop every 5 minutes and reloop to about 10 seconds before. It’s easy to ignore but gets a little annoying after a couple hours.

WFMU the best there is, there was, the there ever will be...

Start the day with Clay Pigeon’s Wake and Bake, get a weekly dose of sanity with Hearty White, and find the spiritual center with Kevin Nutt’s sweet selections of gospel on Sinner’s Crossroads. There’s simply nothing like WFMU for a rare music mix with the likes of Jeff Sarges Reggae Schoolroom and all the great shows, too many to count, Todd o’phonic Todd, Glen Jones, and the much missed Bill Kelly’s Teenage Wasteland

Navigating the chaos!

I love this station because they shamelessly do as they please. It’s not always easy to figure out what the hell is going on over there. WFMURadio helps me find the shows I enjoy and discover new ones! You can mark your fav tunes and chat with fellow listeners! I’m listening to a great show that I missed over the weekend! I’m vibing on WFMURadio!
